I am in a terrible dead end as I cannot recover my phone. I accidantelly put the wrong firmware to my p40 pro and now it restarts after a couple off minutes not giving me the time to install Hisuite and try another firmware. I also tried the eRecovery but I got the "Get package info failed" message. Also I tried through USB to update the phone but it gets stuck at 5%. I hope someone can help me. Thanks
Sorry to hear but the only way to get it working again is going do Huawei service center for motherboard replacement.

There are paying tools I have access to, like DC's ones, which can allow you to force flash back the right packages from 'USB update mode'.
- I could fix you up remotly for a donation, PM me.
It seems to me you 'just' installed the wrong LGRPx base package for your device variant.
Happen to my device once and huawei service center replace the main board under warranty.
Try hard reset

You can search for the model and follow the steps on how to reset it I mean the hard reset.
happened to me and the only solution is to visit Huawei customer care center for motherboard replacement.
happened to me also, flashed LGRP6 instead of LGRP4, i fixed it remotely with someone who have access to some paid tools

Any idea what were the tools involved ?
A huawei cant be dead just installing wrong firmware.
There is no need to replace motherboard.
Can be recovered using paid tools
So far, it seems to me paying tools are failing on LGRP6 builds and on P40Pro+ devices without using physical testpoint mode.
When software testpoint mode just works fine on LGRP4 builds and P40Pro device.
Mrt dongle work fine

For anyone with a bricked phone, oslo83 helped me fix my bricked p40 pro, over remote connection. I downgraded to the wrong firmware, and it would restart after one min in android. Phone is perfect now, and Google services works great. Cheers.

Can someone please help. I'm getting desperate now. I flashed a Nougat build a little while ago but had some issues with Bluetooth and NFC so I flashed back to the original firmware using the dload folder and 3 button method. The installation seemed to go through fine but get's stuck booting at the vodafone logo. It then takes me into eRecovery where it attempts to download latest version over wifi but fails. I don't really know where to go from here because I can't access the internal sd card because the phone won't boot. I can access fastboot but don't really know what to do from there.

Stevemacer10 Hello, I hope to be keen to help, because it happened to me the same thing, with two days of stomach ache for it. In wanting to load Android on my Nougat Huawei P9 Plus VIE-C02, with VIE-L09C605B354 and VIE-L29C185B320 I went into semi-brick or brick, or was only in bootloader, the screen with the green man to speak. No avail various ways, including via microSD-Fastboot or ADB to do restart your phone. Then, to my previous experience with a Huawei tablet, I logged on to the 'https://www.dc-unlocker.com/' site, and essend already registered, I bought 15 credits (15 Euros), for the 'option' DC Phoenix Firmware write ', valid for 72 hours, in addition to the program and downloaded the' DC program Phonix v29 '(https://www.dc-unlocker.com/DC-Phoenix-flash-repair-tutorial) following the related tutorial. Obviously procured the original firmware 'VIE-L09C02B133' or even lower versions, you'll have to unpack in a folder of your preference. Unfortunately, despite having used with DC Phoenix the original firmware was always also blocked me. At that point I wanted groped with a firmware that you can find on the same site of the DC-Unlocker (https://files.dc-unlocker.com/user.html?v=files/57694006a60d7) by downloading the firmware 'VIE_AL10B_M00A063_Factory_firmware_China_Nonspecific_Android_6.0_EMUI_4.1 .dgtks', which I loaded with DC-Phoenix on the phone. Rebooting of a minimal mode of andorid, I did not see well either. I went back into bootloader, as well as devone be made the previous steps that I have already described to you, and this time with DC-Phoenix I loaded on the phone firmware L09C02B128 and everything went well. Attention and keep in mind that just as I happened to me, the serial number of your phone is changed, to me has happened in '0123456789ABCDEF' and there was no way to change it, so as, while having the unlocked bootloader can not longer charge the TWRP recovery in order to then have root permissions. Until reading the paragraph '(Optional) Phone numbers REPAIR', I went to that point on the site 'http://hcu-client.com/'. Also here are sadly bought 8 credits (8,00 Euro) in order to work with the program 'HCU-Client v1.0.0.0115', you need to download and unpack, then follow the various instructions, which are not difficult when you have to be walked through the modding, otherwise you do even more damage. Let me know what you did and how it went to the method. I hope also good for you. In summary we want Euro 15 for Phoenix whose duration of operations applies to 72 hours and 8 Euro per HCU-Client, it can only use this for 24 hours.
P.S .: Obviously if you follow my instructions and all these signs you do so at your own risk, esonerandomi from every possible and accidental deterioration of the situation and the damage to your phone. Sorry for my English, whose translation has made Google translator.

I wanted to say that the change of the serial number does not work well. The serial number has been changed from what I've shown you above, but was not put one I added that I had from the sales box. I write support and maybe let you know what they tell me. See you soon.
Hi Grlshia,
Thanks for getting back to me. It's such a minefield playing with all these different regional variants. I have though, managed to get it completely fixed. I just gave in and took it into the local Vodafone store and fortunately there happened to be one of the tech experts in there that owned a P9. He took it off me and within about 5 minutes he had completely restored it. He told me he just did a factory reset by holding down vol+ and power. I'm sure I had tried this myself to no avail previously but that's what he said he did.

Stevemacer10 hello, I'm glad you've solved the problem. Unfortunately I'm still fighting because, for now I can only and even to load its firmware, but if you want to try to load the TWRP recovery for later obtain root permissions, it always fails. From what seems to understand me and certainly due to the fact that the bootloader unlock code now is different from what I have, because as I told you the serial number has changed and if I request a new unlock code, it stops notiziandomi the procedure that there is inconsistency between this number and the IMEI. For now I do not know what to do and how to proceed. I hope that over time can still solve my problem. A good evening to you :good:
i'v been throw it
after updating my p9 plus with a firmware that is not sutable to my area
my phone restarted and ask for an account wich ok but the problem was that the software not working properly and missing a keyboard.
and will not go to recovery mode to try another software.
this sloved by downloading a sutable correct software and unzip it into an SD card folder (i create) called dload, then swich off the device and turn it back on while holding three bottons (power+v up+v down) 10 to 15 sec. and the phone directly read from the SD card and start updating a new firmwarw.
try it.
it success with me , hope it work wth u
Dear All!
Here is one desperate guy turning to you because I see from some XDA posts, that you know about twrp and Huawei devices quite something.
At first, I don't want to waste your time. If you can help me, I will be happy to compensate it because I'm quite serious on this (and desperate as well).
I'm a beginner on Android rooting world, and in a nutshell, I enjoy just putting my Android device to the limits and enjoy using them to the fullest.
Bad thing, that I sometimes take too much risk and this time it ended with a (Soft) bricked phone.
The phone is from a rental company, that is why I'm so stressed to get it back and going.
So getting to the point:
Device: Huawei P10, VTR-L29C432B123
(C432, as I understand, is European version and it's important here)
Current state: Device is unlocked, rooted and with TWRP 3.1.1. (TWRP installed by this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/development/testers-twrp-t3585256 and rooted by this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/help/root-huawei-p10-p10-t3589946)
After installing TWRP and Rooting device I happily enjoyed using it for some time but
things went wrong when I started to try to put back Stock rom. (+ unroot and lock the device as well).
I tried multiple posts on the internet and didn't succeed. Unfortunately, FLashify and alike apps didn't work (or crashed after installing) on my P10, therefore, I turned to TWRP.
At first, I tried to install stock firmware downloaded from Firmware Finder but TWRP put out error:
E: unknown command [errno]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 9
Error installing zip '/external_sd/dload-draft/update.zip
Then I tried some other ways and turned to wipe section. Deleted Catches and data and then also system. This I believe f-ed things up and (of course) I could not boot anymore.
Can you instruct me on installing Stock rom for my device and get it back and running?
Thank you very much and please let me know if some more info is necessary!
@paratox @OldDroid @XePeleato @Dejan Kruljac Guys, if you could take a look on this and give me a direction - I would be enormously thankful!

You are welcome, but actually you must thank @crucky and @mankindtw !
I recently got the P10 after two Sony devices and a Samsung, so it was confusing for me as well. I am happy it worked for you .
Debranding is installing a rom for another region, another carrier or a change from dual to single sim (or the other way around).

edit : I have relocked my bootloader which leaves me no TWRP
Would this also work for me (VTR-L09)
I bought the phone from Vodafone Australia and I am stuck in erecovery right now, when I try to update through the dload using a FAT32 sd card the update.app won't even copy onto the sd card as it is larger than 4GB. When I try to do it using an sd card formatted to NTFS it stops at 5% and states "software install failed!"
Please help me on what to do... any help would be appreciated

I can assume that your memory is out of order.
I understood correctly, when you turn on the cubes? You did not flash board firmware?
Hi,
I really hope somebody can help. I've bricked my P20 Pro and looking for a solution...
Quick rundown of how I got here and relevant info:
Original model CLT-L09 8.1.0.103 (C782)
Rebranded with FunkyHuawei to CLT-L29
Was running firmware CLT-L29 8.1.0.110 (C782)
Updated to CLT-L29 8.1.0.120a (C432) using @Atarii 's method from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho.../recovery-bkl-nocheck-recovery-flash-t3778085 (booted fine, no issues except wasn't passing safetynet and build number was messed up when viewed in settings) so I wasn't happy and decided to flash back to CLT-L29 8.1.0.110 (C782) using the same method.
When I issued the adb commands
echo "--update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update.zip" > /cache/recovery/command
echo "--update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update_data_public.zip" >> /cache/recovery/command
echo "--update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update_all_hw.zip" >> /cache/recovery/command
I did so as 3 separate commands - pressing enter after each echo command, instead of copy/pasting the whole command as one.
Rebooted to recovery and the update was verified and started to flash but phone went blank mid-way through and hasn't powered on since. Device was at 96% battery when started flashing.
I now can't boot to fastboot, eRecovery, system, recovery... nothing.
I have successfully installed drivers so that when I connect the phone with USB it is recognized as HUAWEI USB COM 1.0 in device manager.
I do believe there is some way to recover from this. I have tried FunkyHuawei unbrick tool but that requires to be booted in fastboot. Tried DC Phoenix but the board software for P20 pro is not available.
If anyone knows anything that might help me out of this situation I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks!
Currently, there is no way to recover. That might change in the future.
No commercial unbricking tools support the P20 Pro yet. Even if you were to find board software (for example Mate 10 board software is compatible enough to get you into fastboot, most likely) you won't be able to flash everything you need to, as the tools to do so aren't yet compatible.
I think your two choices are to wait until P20 support can be added to commercial unbricking tools, or to try having the device repaired/replaced under warranty, as it will be diagnosed as a hardware problem by Huawei (and it very well may be, if it just shut off without warning like that.)
I did exactly the same thing. Nothing working at all. Not even fastboot. Will the service center be able to fix this?
I can't offer any help here, but would like to know what might have caused this. Do you think it was because you attempted to downgrade the firmware?
I believe so. I was on 120 and tried to install 107 as 120 did not report model correctly
I've read somewhere here on XDA threads you can anything with your p20 pro but no downgrade at least for right now.

can you tell wich steps you followed to retrieve your phone?
So.. My Huawei P10 won't boot neither into system nor recovery, the screen is off and there's no LED indication.
It is recognized in fastboot, I can erase and flash both system and recovery, though rebooting the device does nothing, it just shows up in fastboot again, still with screen off.
Is there any way to save this phone? I installed a new battery too.
dc pheonix and hcu client did not help either.
:crying:
I have the same issue. Hard brick, doesnt turn on after I upgraded to oreo.
Guys, I have this issue, too and worked a bit with DC Phoenix support.
The reason why my P10 didn't boot anymore is simple: I just flashed the wrong firmware files for rolling back from Pie to Oreo.
Now I have a shiny black piece of junk.
I tried to flash with DC Phoenix, also with test point. The device was recognized as serial device, so the test point was working. But DC Phoenix failed at flashing.
DC support says, that Dec 18 security patches are preventing to flash old firmwares but DC needs to flash the original factory firmware, OTA isn't working.
So at the end of an 8 hour day trying to fix my P10 my result was a nice chat and a fast refund of my 19€ for DC pheonix.
If you can't get it working even with test point method, your phone is is a piece of junk.
Mostly it's caused by doing something wrong at downloading firmwares or flashing them, also while flashing wrong Magisk modules, Xposed or wrong boot images.
Since Pie don't have a boot partition anymore it's important to download a rollback firmware (2 files instead of 3) so the recovery is able to reformat before flashing.

For adb it’s needed that the phone starts completely into system or twrp - both not possible for me.
With fastboot it’s not possible to flash eRecovery, just recovery.

Yes, I tried the same, and also got the security patch warning, though little did I know I could get a refund. I did not try the 'test point' method. Not sure if I get it, do you connect/solder usb-cable onto the phone's motherboard?
You need to connect the test point to ground, you can use the shielding right beside of it. Take a small wire or tweezers for it.
I did it like this:
- connect the phone to pc, it should be recognized as fastboot device
- Short test point with ground
- hold down the power button until the computer recognizes the device again
- install the serial driver
DC should work now. But if it doesn’t, write it in the dc forums and you’ll get refund

Yes, please share some information how can we recover our dead p10. It would greatly help the community. Thank you
I tried it with DC and Chimera. Both aren't working for me, because of the security patches. Huawei did some deep changes between October and December 2018 and made it very hard to flash even with test points - another reason for me to leave Huawei to my alltime smartphone enemy Samsung...
The DC-Phoenix and Chimera teams are working hard on a solution, take a look at their forums and you'll notice that many people have this problems, just because Huawei ****ed it up.
I mean, we did all something wrong, otherwise this threat won't exist. But Huawei made it hard for us to revive the devices and this reminds me of Apples politics. Huawei doesn't need to give support to unlocked phones but it's very unfair to prevent their customers from doing what they want including unlocking.
Back to topic:
Follow the forums of DC and Chimera. If you found any solution or fix, please post it here.
My device, also bricked while flashing the wrong firmware for rolling back from pie, shows just black screen and fastboot is working.
Test point didn't work, also Chimera couldn't flash anything.
My device gets quiet warm while in fastboot, so I disconnected the battery to prevent deep discharging.
Dear the same situation was happened with my p10 but i recovered... So if you want to recover your phone then give ultra view id and pass....... If you have chimera and dc phoenix you can make it possible.. But remember you must need to know exactly build number

Yes, please share the steps to help the community.
Thanks!
There's absolutely no reason for not sharing the steps in a simple tutorial. Instead @chsaim is begging for remote access to our computers, I don't know why.
I chatted a lot with Chimera support and they told me that there's currently not way to recover, with faulty partitions caused by flashing, with the Dec.2018 security patches and newer. This included the firmware 382, on some 380 devices it doesn't work either.
They also want to send me an E-Mail when they find a solution for this. For now I got my money back from them - great support, also the DC team.
I'm happy to get a used mainboard from local market and now have my P10 as spare phone.

You need to connect the test point to ground...
- connect the phone to pc, it should be recognized as fastboot device
- Short test point with ground
- hold down the power button until the computer recognizes the device again
- install the serial driver

Testpoint should be connected till pc recognize it properly or connected all the time during flashing? Do you have any logs at what point dc crashed in your case?

I can access fastboot with dc-phoenix. Once I tried to send erecovery, recovery, or kernel w
Through cmd. It reads but it can't write. That's where I get stuck. If dc it's able to write then I would be able to recover my dead phone. Thank you

Test point needs to be shorted until the computer recognizes the P10 as an USB serial device. You need drivers for this, which you can get from DC Phoenix.
DC couldn't flash the bootloader:
Code:
BOOTLOADER File to update: Kirin960_T0_A7.0_V1
20.02.2019 21:34:26 Starting to write device...
Writing bootloader...
Error writing Bootloader
20.02.2019 21:35:36 Writing device finished - INCOMPLETE
Yesterday (2nd febr) suddenly a message popped out saying I have an update. I tapped on it, the phone (P20 Pro) downloaded it all, it got installed but then this screen appeared:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2IiN-auezM
eRecovery "Update & System Recovery" is not working since its a device from Italia and I am in Hungary.
Bootloader locked. No root.
Any ideas? How can I make it good again?
Also, at the service center they told me I might need to replace the motherboard. Is it seriously possible I need to replace it? (I hope it is not necessary...)
If they replace it for free, backup your data and go for it.
If not, then use the modded hisuite and firmware finder update method that you can find on the forums here.
Thank you. Could you link it?
I tried FF, since my phone won't get over eRecovery, I only tried it with desktop.
The DNS in the router has been set correctly, but my phone just don't connect to it.
I had the same, mine died and had to be replaced
Thank you! I guess I will just sell it, and get a Xiaomi.
Did you claim the code to unlock when was available?. If you do.. just enter to bootloader mode.. unlock... and flash stock recovery. I can help you with that. If you don't... huawei services is the way to go.
Nope, I have the phone since Nov 2019 from a second-hand seller.
Huawei Services only replaces the motherboard for around 90.000 HUF ( around 273 €) what is simply don't worth it.

AFAIK eRecovery doesn't care about your current region. It will just try downloading the ROM for the region installed on your phone.
Did you get any error messages trying to use it?

I know it sounds unrelated and stupid, but can you try and disable IPv6 on your router? I recall some issues with it regarding manual updates by eRecovery. Can be completely unrelated, but worth trying.
It is completely dead. Thanks for help!
