Hello all. I am super happy with the phone, no need to go through all the happiness that it brings each time I use it. One thing still makes me crazy is the battery consumption when I don't use the phone. Sounds like the screen would be on all the time. I can't understand how a phone with screen off can use so much of power. I have read many topics and improve a little but I am still at a good 2% an hour. This is ridiculously high. I guess if there was a solution, I would have found it already in this good threads but just in case... If someone had a magic app or idea. [emoji57]

First, 2% / hour is 50 hours standby, which isn't bad at all. Your phone IS doing stuff at the background after all, it takes power to remain connected.
Things to try:
Disable Always-On-Display, it consumes quite a lot of power on standby.
Disable 5G. This sounds silly, but according to some reports, it takes Pixel5 a lot of power to stay on 5G network while on standby.
Disable "mobile data always active" option in developer options. It does take a it more power to keep both WiFi and mobile data on compared to just WiFi.
But again, i really wouldn't worry that much about 2% an hour.
2% per hour is really in my opinion. It means 50uours only without using the phone at all. So weekend without charging I can forget even with light use... I would expect a good 4 days without using before dying! I just need whatsapp and message or call when in standby. I don't care about nay other stuff. But if I go in power saving, then the phone is slow and not optimize when I use it. I just don't understand how the battery can be so good with screen on whereas it is so bad when sleeping.

I gat between 2&4% overnight so around 8 hrs in idle. I do have a custom kernel CleanSlate.

You must have a rouge app keeping it awake. I have everything on (AOD off) with a garmin watch connected and list about 4-5% over 8 hours.
Yeah, 2% per hour is really high. I get like 0.5% per hour and that's actually much worse than my Pixel 2 XL when it was new.
I had standby drain like that, I think it was the messages app. I factory reset last night because I can't get RCS to activate, and while the reset didn't fix that, while sleeping last night my phone battery barely went down. So that fixed the small standbye draining issue.
When I got this phone I transferred everything by cable. This time I did a wifi restore.

IF you migrated apps or setups from a previous phone by cable or if you are using some apps that have not been optimized for A11 yet is probably the problem. A lot of users that have used migration apps etc get rid of the problem if they setup their phone from scratch by downloading all apps form the new phone. I typically backup whatsapp and Google Backup and setup from zero on a new phone.

Hello everyone!!
I recently bought an Xperia Z, but the problem is that the battery depletes after 3hours of onscreen time?, i went to the store and they too found it strange since it should have around 6 or 7 hours of onscreen time.
They exchanged the phone and gave me a new one, and sadly that phone had the exact same problem( REALLY!!?!?!!), and to top that, it's with screenlight at 25% and every battery heavy options turned off.
So i went to the store to get a refund. In the store another guy had exchanged his Xperia Z 4 times till He got a Z with a battery that worked as intended....
I will never buy a sony product again after this letdown..
And i would definitely not exchange my phone 4 times to hit the "Working-Battery lottery!"
It seems there is some sort of failure in the release of many of the Z's released, i found this guy with same problem

I also have bad battery life, but yet I don't see your point of making this topic at all.
6/7h on screen time really yo? On a 1080p screen... maybe next year. There are plenty of people that reached 5h+
If you want 7h on screen time, get an iPhone LOL! That way we would get rid of you and you would be with the other sheeple.
Topic is useless, can't believe you made an account just to say that.

I don't get it, my battery lasts all day, I charge through the night and take it out at 7 roughly. Then I use it through the day playing games like shadowgun and using social networking sites like Facebook. I also use gmail quite often and I also watch YouTube videos aswell. If I have brightness automatic and battery stamina mode it can last me throughout the day. I haven't charged my phone sine 7 and I still have 13% charge left.

Pretty sure that wouldn't even work. One of the girls I work with just got an iphone 5 and the battery drains like crazy on that thing. She starts at 3am, and by ~8 she is below 15% and has to charge pretty soon after. Then she has to charge when she gets home, and again when she goes to sleep.
Meanwhile, I am one of the heaviest power users I know of, I use my phone for work (flashlight, camera, calendar, calculator, barcode scanner), frequently check facebook, ragecomics reader app, general web browsing and play store browsing, small downloads eg mp3, apps, flashable .zip tweaks from here, frequently check simpsons tapped out, play some dead trigger, watch about 30 -60 mins of movies, receive a few calls and texts, maybe 10-20 mins of music playback. Out of habit I normally pull my phone out every 10-15 minutes and unlock it, flick around absent mindedlu, then lock it again after not actually opening anything :\ not sure how I picked up that habit.
To top all that off, I have my screen brightness set to 100% with adjust to lighting conditions ticked, I have location services and sattelites on, auto sync on, 4g data always on, wifi on but location based activated, NFC on, and finally, also have better battery stats installed and allways doing it's thing as I am also experiencing some rougue wakelocks I am slowly dealing with (still stumped on what is causing audio_out2 and deleted_wake_lock)
Despite all this, my phone comes off charge around 330am, and doesn't charge till 8pmish when it finally runs out of juice. That is one hell of a solid effort as I have done pretty much nothing to help out my battery, and doing everything to make it struggle.
I have only undervolted slightly, and am using doomkernel on KA04 rom. I am not using stamina mode either. Infact, when I was using it on stock rom, I couldn't see any difference between using it and not using it. I can't really see how it would do much IF you had NO wakelocks (or very little). Besides knocking out LED all it really does it disable background processes, if you have your phone set up right you shouldn't really have any anyway:good:.
This phone leaves my previous galaxy S2 in it's dust for battery life under the same usage in anycase (I used to charge that thing about 3 times a day most days).

actually on my iPhone 5 I get more like 9 hours of screen time, sometimes 10. Not saying that your friends account is false, but that sure is hell doesn't seem consistent with any battery rundown test I've ever seen.I can go 2 days without charging it roughly, I'm sure the incoming hate and vitriol for my use of an iPhone as a daily driver is about to pour in from the less intelligent Android users, but this is one of the reasons my iPhone is still my daily driver. That and a consistently good camera.
Cheers~
P.S. I have owned many many many Android flagships and am an experienced power user.
Since when did iPhones ship with battery stats?
Or is there an app for that?
Batteries need a few charging cycles before doing their job properly. It's like having sex for the first time. The first time you might be disappointing but as you do it more often, you supposedly become better at it. Batteries work the same way.

Can't believe you just compared batteries on a phone to sex.
My battery life is acceptable. Getting up to 4hours screen time or a little more from 09 - 22. At this time, I then have about 14% more or less. And this is by alot of whatsapp, messaging, maybe a call or two. This is not using LTE. I find it very battery draining so I stick with 3G. Besided i am on WiFi most of the time.
So as long the phone can do a whole day without charging in most normal days for some people that don't travel alot, I ffind the battery acceptable

Just curious if I might have missed a mod or xposed module that will allow us to lower the vibration on our Moto x? I'm not thinking there is. It's actually quite strong which is fantastic. No real complaint at all. But, if something were available, I'd lower it just a tad.
By the way....I just have to say it out loud though I know it's been said many times on here....I love this Moto x....Battery is fantastic. I used to be tied to a charger with my gNex. (VZW) Bad reception I'm sure helped to suck it down.
Now I start work around 4 in the morning and don't even have to think about a charger all day...plug it up when I hit the bed around 10 or 11 p.m. And...it's usually still way over 50% left.
FANTASTIC!
Guys...sorry for question...but how i turn off the vibration in active display when i unlock the screen??

Hello, dear people at xda!
Unfortunately, my dear Note seems to have a busted battery, as when I fully charge it and try to go on internet (3g, not wifi) the phone starts to flicker and turns off after 10 minutes of connection...
I tried reinstalling different roms, but it is defo the battery....
and since it is a 2 year old device, which I was planning to replace some time in spring 2014 anyhow, I am not seeing any sense of buying a new battery for it.... Therefore I will just go for a new(er) device (not sure if Mega 6.3, or Sony Xperia Z Ultra)...
However, I am not sure what to do with my Note N7000... Selling it like this, I doubt anybody would want it... and plus, the exterior has got some damage on corners from falling, grazing, etc...
I was thinking of having the Note N7000 connected to a power source without the battery in, and hooked up to a 15 inch monitor, and mouse and keyboard and set it up as a quick email check, light browsing, etc, machine...
I have seen on the internet some people using android phones like that, even if just for experimenting..
I like my Note very much and would hate to throw it in the rubbish bin... I think there is still some use I can put it to...
Any thoughts?
I would get a new battery for it and give it to someone. It probably has another few years of service in it.
For light browsing on a tv it doesnt really have the horsepower.10 seconds to load a page is too much.
As an e-reader, mini-tablet or angry-birds-device-for-the-kids-that-want-to-play-on-your-phone-all-the-time maybe.
+1 for a new battery, they cost as low as $5 and would allow you to sell the device for a much larger cost / keep using it for some more time.

I have always on display enabled and it doesn't really drain that much. I can still easily get 6h SOT or 2 days of moderate use. I would go through your apps to see there isn't one that could be dodgey, draining in the background but hiding under system usage.

Developer options has extra processes and features that get activated when enabled. That's more processes in the background, hence why it's called developer options. Its meant only for "developers" for testing and extra features.

Never seen that mentioned anywhere here in 6 years on XDA...interesting, thanks! In my mind it's a hidden options menu, and we're not activating new options simply by unhiding it. Would be curious to know which specific processes are being activated and what type of impact they actually have on battery life... My bet is that it's very negligible.

I got the 6. I think the 8 is overkill for me. It's great for peice of mind but with much last galaxies that were 4 and 64gb of storage I always had about 30gb of storage left.
Also, I think I saw somewhere on this forum that the 6 and 8 version offer almost no noticeable difference as far as speeds. So far I'm loving the 6. For sure signal reception is alot better. I'm coming from the s9, prior to that the S8+ and reception and signal at work was garbage. I have alpt more bars now on the N9 and have verified speeds with speed test app.
I do game a bit pubg for the most part. I will need to try Fortnite on here but I am using one of there free themes (red one) along with good lock and it's a perfect fit.
I have never rooted my phones, but I am surprised really is there no root yet for the N9? I need to spend hours to see all the content on this section for the N9.
Ive had my S20 FE for about 2 and a half months now and the battery has been sufficient for my usage, in the last 2 days however, it has just been dropping like mad. Facebook was the largest batty consumer at 18%, but that didnt seem out of the ordinary in comparison to the other times ive looked at my battery management. I just turned it off for about 30 min or so and charged it with it off until around 70%
Not sure if this was a one off weirdness type of thing or not, but symptoms like these dont usually bode well. Anyone else run into this yet?
