Is anyone having problem when they rotate their phone in landscape mode? - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

Few days ago I was visiting a website. The website looked fine and was easy to understand in portrait mode but when I switched it to landscape there was a black bar on the side of the screen. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

That black bar is where the status bar would be. It's not a problem, it's just weird looking. The browser doesn't extend to the full screen in landscape orientation.

This issue has already been raised in the official pixel 5 google forums and a few people including myself have issued feedback to google.
May be fixed in the Jan OTA, who knows, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Line on Screen sometimes

I have a problem with my Tilts screen, on some programs I can see a line running across the screen right where the bottom bar for the softkeys is located. When I am using the camera it appears to be green, and when i open up the tab for the options it is white, its not that visible to most people but I can clearly see it, and it and it is extremely annoying I will take some pictures of it later, just wanted to know if anyone has the same problem
looks a hardware fault to me...is it happening on landscape and portrait mode?
I have problem with horizontal line on the screen only in camera (3Mpix) mode. This line apper on the taken foto. I thin it must be camera ... I hope this will be fixed soon...
I send mine back for repair, because of the horizontal and vertical lines in camera mode.

it happens on both, the problem kinda reminds me of those old crt monitors where if you had the same thing on the screen too long it would burn in. the line is on the left side of the screen and looks exactly like the shiny part of the left softkey is.

Was it repaird or did you get a new one ? I now that it's diffrent in every country but how long were you left without phone ?
I'm still in the waiting, the TNT guy just picked it up. They promised me it will take 10 days max. This includes the time for sending it back to me.
So hopefully i'll get it back before 15 dec. I think they will replace my cameralens, since there is a white dead pixel on it. But who knows...
Im having the same problem.
I just received my MDA Vario III yesterday.
I installed the hardSPL and flashed with dutty's latest rom.
I also took a contacts pic of my dad, hehe.
But today, I started the camera and noticed a red line running across the cam.
So I took the picture, and checked the pic. It seemed the red line was taken with the picture. This does mean there's some hardware problem. Also, I found another topic on the internet with more people complaining about it:
Click!
I just called T-Mobile and they wouldnt help me cause the contract's on my dad's name. (A few years back when I wasn't 18 yet)
Anybody else who has experienced this problem?
i just took a pic of my monitor in low light conditions - i have a totally black screen with only the taskbar visible (light gray) i found that taking a picture in landscape mode, the night mode or some **** is causing all pixels along that line to darken (??) see this link for an example (3mp @ fine)
note: this happens in landscape mode probably because the orientation of the line of pixels is in line with the pixels of the camera (cant seem to reproduce it when the device is upright [ie the taskbar spans the 240, not the 320]) - this could either be the utterly _crap_ nightmode filter software or could be due to the ccd itself - i dont really know enough about camera technology to determine which is the cause (you think maybe the crap nightmode filter determines the gamma of horizontal lines based only on the pixels in that line? that would explain this effect and if so thats just plain ****)
My Kaiser has new camera. It took only one day to repair it. I've heard that camera in Kaiser is made by Samsung ... (it was mentioned in service report)
Now it's all ok. I wonder how long ...

[Q] HP touchpad cyanogenmod touchscreen issues.

I have been having problems lately with my HP touchpad on CM9. They are as follow: the touchscreen goes crazy and does all sorts of random typing and button pressing. At one point I could not use it so I webOS doctored it up and then flashed CM10. So far it fixed the issue but now my corner "back" button only works when you press it on the side closest to the middle. Some other buttons are like this or do not work completely in apps. I don't think it could be a hardware issue as I have always been careful with all of my devices. Thanks in advance!
Can you completely rule out hardware issues by testing your screen using a drawing app?

I will try that now.
Update: Ok please try to work with this: In landscape look at the arrow, the width of the arrow, that entire section is not working from bottom to top. You have to almost tap on the very right edge of the back arrow. I still do not think it is hardware.
Bump, please help
I'm on CM w/android 4.2.2 and have similar screen issues... screen sometimes goes a static non-moving "fuzzy" blue... not sire if ther is any pattern to it or not, but reboot fixes it for a while.
lately I've noticed that ill get artafacts... fpr example todays google doodle viewed using stock android browser app will often produce black a d white horizontal artafacts. perhaps driver issues?

You don't say what Rom you are using but it certainly works on Jcsullins latest.
Evervolv but now i am thinking its an lcd digitzer screen problem cause nothing in that area works regardless of the rom. I never dropped the device so i am not sure why just a section of the lcd screen would stop responding..

Android 4.2.2 notification bar not responding

All,
Would anybody know how to help me with a little problem. Last night, my notification bar has stopped working, just become none responsive completely. The screen is still sensing the touch because it works when using different apps, but I can no longer pull down the notification bar meaning I can not reset any notifications I receive. I have tried switching the phone on and off again, and also did a factory reset but it hasn't made any difference.
The handset I have is an O2 Xperia Z, running Android 4.2.2.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, I am considering heading to my local O2 shop later today.
Thanks

Suggest to try to repair with pc companion first. Select the left hand most option, and then the "repair" option.
I know you say the screen is working, but try testing it to make sure touches are registering on all of the top part of the screen.
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler -> Service tests -> Touch screen.

Thanks guys,
I am just charging my handset up to 50% required to try and repair and will give that a go.
In the mean time I have just tried the service test and it appears that in the 6-7mm at the top of the screen there is no sensitivity. However...when on my home screen, there is no response from the status notification bar in that area, yet when I scroll left and right within that area, the home screen is being pulled side to side so there is obviously some kind of happening within that area, just not having any effect on the status bar.
Does this mean it may need a new screen?
Tom
If you screenshot your phone it should come back. That usually works.

How do I screenshot it, I think I've done it once before but I can't remember.
Thanks
Just tried the screenshot but it doesn't clear the problem.

i have some problem, always show the pop up notification has stopped, what should i do ?
has a similar problem recently with my Xperia Z. The lower portion of the screen containing the navigation bar stops responding to touches. I tried service tests and confirmed that on the nav bar area, touches are not registered. So, I guess this is a hardware problem?
My temporary solution is to use "Screen Settings" app and change the screen resolution. I have now a smaller workable screen but at least both my nav bar and task bar works. downside is, I don't have a 16:9 aspect ratio screen anymore. hehe
Anybody?
Oh, and I'm almost sure this is not a software issue as I tried stock rom and custom rom, and on both roms, the lower portion of the touch screen is not responding to touches. so, yes, hardware problem maybe. Anybody else encountered this?
Hello I have the same problem with a notification bar. Do any one manage to resolve it?
Thanks
same here.... need solution...

notification does not expand when i scroll from the top

Hello,
I faced a weird problem on my z3c which I only noticed this morning.
the notification will not expand when i swipe from the top :crying:
- i can get it to work at only 1 time every 30 or so swipes.
- i only noticed it now because i couldn't expand the notification when I'm in an app. I had nova launcher pro's gesture support to expand the notification when i swipe down anywhere in the homescreen which hid this problem from me.
- I've had the phone for only 11 months and it has been in a glass screen protector and a silicone case with a front lip. tallest it fell was from 3 feet and that is only rarely.
- works fine in landscape.
- swipe up from bottom works since i can launch google now
- i've yet to find a way to rotate the screen 180 degrees to test it from the bottom.
- i tried the stock launcher and it has the same problem.
Anyone faced the same? my last resort is to factory reset but I wont go into that much trouble and I don't want to send it for warranty as that will probably take a week. But I'm concern that it will be harder to sell the phone later on...
I am facing the exact same problem on my z3c
Did you find any solution?
Hi, no still the same. It is only a little inconvenience for me so I wont bother to get it fixed or reset my device.
Same here. Maybe it is an issue because of the update.
you can do 180 rotation in Nova launcher, labs menu.
To test if you want.
I ran the touchscreen diagnostic test and found that indeed my finger doesn't register within the 2-3mm of the screen when i swipe down from the speaker area. a tap is also not registered 40% of the time if I tap within the 2-3mm from the start of the screen at the top of the phone. weird.
I have not yet factory reset-ed and my warranty has already expired. I will just bare with it.

Touch issues on landscape mode

I notice that on landscape mode the top on bottom does not respond to touch. The S-Pen works fine but not finger touch. Just wondering if anyone else have the same issue? I have already removed my tempered glass protection to rule that out and also tried opening in safe mode.
My model number is SM-N960F bought in Australia (Optus).
Update : Factory reset fixed the issue. Looks like a software issue (some app interfering)
Try the touch screen test. This is on S9, should be same on N9

And if there are issues contact Samsung

Thanks. I've tried that already and it works fine but my issue happens only on landscape mode. It is not dead zone as they work with SPen and also works fine on portrait mode (which the test is)
If you reinstall edge touch and make changes that might be the cause of touch not being recognised in landscape. Just select optimised settings to fix.
I have same issue, in landscape, bottom 1.5cm of screen is unresponsive but when i scroll frop up to bottom of screen, it works. Looks like there is some app overdrawing over bottom of screen..
Solved: reboot fixed issue
