Nokia 8 Fingerprint sensor variants - Nokia 8 Questions & Answers

Hello,
The device is pretty old, but i hope to get some reply at least on xda. Recently, I broke my fingerprint sensor flex cable while replacing the battery (stupid repair guy whom i had given the phone before had glued in the flex cable to the phone body using superglue). I was searching in the market for replacement, when i found there are 2 variants for the fingerprint sensor: a big button one and a small button one
As far as I know, all the Nokia 8 I have seen had a small fingerprint sensor, so where does the big button one come from? Also, will that be installable on all Nokia 8 s?

Note 5 display digitizer panel

Hello guys
any leads on where can i find note 5 lcd display panel , complete with digitizer and display panel
i have 5-10 phones with broken display
need display panels at good wholesale prices , as nowadays pre-owned note 5 are available at low prices.
People are buying pre-owned / used note 5 from market instead of getting repaired
there's a reason for that; it's cheaper to get a working used note 5 than to get a new screen. samsungs are usually not economically viable to fix after about 6 months after its release.
One big problem with harvesting a display panel from a Note 5 is how Samsung placed the USB flex connector, which makes it extremely difficult to remove without damaging the screen. So, if a unit has a faulty flex connector, which could have been an easy repair if Smasnung placed it with easier access, the faulty connector can pretty much make a good display worthless if not very carefully removed.

Spen problem/ Calibration

Hi,
Is there a way to calibrate the Spen? Its accurate for about 90% of the screen but when i move to the left most part of the screen it doesnt follow. It stops about 1/4 of an inch and doesnt reach the end of the screen
I dont have any case on it
No screen protectors as well
No magnetic items to interfere with the spen
Tried the "touch all four corners" trick but didnt fix it
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I dont think that the issue is the s pen, it is most likely the screen digitizer, if the s pen was faulty, the problem would arise anywhere on the screen, take your device for warranty claim ASAP
Try changing or reinstalling the SPen tip...

I agree. The walcom digitizer is probably broken.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Tried it with a different Spen from another Note 8. Still the same problem. My digitizer must be broken. Ill send it for repairs. First time to claim warranty on a samsung Note product since the Note 1. Note 7 is an exception since that was just faulty for everyone
The note 7 was not faulty for me, I still have it, works really fine
Just got my note back from the service center. took them one day to fix it. You guys were right, it was a faulty digitizer.
lucky for me. they changed the whole screen assembly, i now have a new scratcheless screen. They also said they replaced the battery since the front assembly comes with a new battery since its suppose to be glued to it
Really glad to hear it worked so good for you! , that is the benefit of purchasing legally/oficially distributed devices some want to save money, but the peace of mind is most important
Hi guys
I have the same problem .If I replace just touch screen ,will the problem be solved???Or is it LCD?
Because I disconnected touch screen cable and saw that pen digitizer still is working and I guessed that pen digitizer is connected to LCD?Am I right??

It seems that the majority of the Note 7s that had issues with the battery were restricted to the US. As I can't find issues with the Note 7 in other regions of the world...

You need to replace the entire AMOLED display under the glass panel, which is no easy task. As you need a very clean room to do it to ensure that you do not have any specs of dust on it.

fingerprint sensor replacement

Hi. On my Huawei p20 pro the fingerprint sensor got broken (my daughter bit it). It does not work anymore and a crack is visible. Any idea - can the sensor be replaced on its own without changing the whole screen?
I just sent my P20 Pro to the Huawei service center for this exact issue and they refused to replace the fingerprint sensor, instead they offered to replace the entire display assembly.
Really disappointed, I'll repair it elsewhere and sell it to get a Samsung.
I think the fingerprint sensor comes with the display itself.
looks like there are a lot of replacement parts on Aliexpress. One for $5 only. If u know how to take the screen out and put it back, order one and DIY.

The fingerprint sensor is glued in on a frame below the display, found the part for 5-6$ online.
I'll get it and find a repair shop locally to replace it, don't have the necessary tools for this.

this iFixit essential kit would be good enough to open it up and replace the FP reader.

Did anyone swap the motherboard from another nexus 5x ?

Hi,
I love my nexus 5x it's the best for me i would'nt change my phone. But it has some minors issues :
- The back camera is dead, so is the glass that (was) protecting it.
- The screen is a little broken but it's still completely fonctional.
- The battery is very old
EDIT : I recently bought a spare nexus 5X that wont start anymore (i will get it in a few days).
DO people that already oppened one and try to change theese parts inside could help me ? Will i be able to get the used camera form another nexus 5X and put it inside mine ? I gess the back glass i can take the whole back cover of the other phone, and the batterry... i'll buy another one.
Finaly, the screen. To use the new screen, i'll have to do the reverse and swap MY motherboard into the (bootlooped) one. Will that be possible ? Can the bootloop comes from other parts than the motherboard? Otherwise i'll stick to my screen and just swap the back camera.
I've done it, and it's a 10 minutes job. You only have to swap the mainboard from your phone to the spare phone (wich seems to be ok but the mainboard).
It's very easy to disassembly the phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NDYbEQNEPs
I did it in 20min finaly and it was very easy, no issue at all. Now i have a working screen and a nice back caméra , but thé front caméra is loose and blurry, i might have made a mistake while putting it in place.

My guess is to take a look at the wrong mainboard. There are some tiny rubber pieces that are fitted into the screen chassis, but sometimes got stucked in the mainboard components as you removed it like, for example, the rubber gasket of the proximity sensor. If you miss this last piece, the screen will remain unusable during calls. You have to be sure of removing all this pieces from the old board when swapping the mainboard.
I disassembled the phone once again to change the front camera and that was enough. Turns out the front camera of the (motherboard-fried) nexus 5x i bought was also ****ep up. Mine was OK, so now i have everything working.
The only thing that remains un-perfect is the battery. Is there somewhere a possibility to add a bigger battery to this phone ? Or, will at least a new one be a huge difference ?
IFIXIT - Nexus 5X
I swapped the motherboard on my 5x
I swapped the motherboard on mine. Friend of mine gave me his out-of-warranty 5x after we tried the heatup trick.... since the heatup trick didn't work.
Meanwhile, my 5x had bricked and I'd gotten a refurbished replacement from Google-FI. Well, I did not have a cover on it so the camera shied cracked (it sticks up a bit on the back)... I just kept using it like that for a while. I eventually swapped rear case covers and that was wonderful. I also swapped batteries since mine was quite swollen(even thought it always worked fine).
Then I somehow managed to crack the display (don't even know how)..... I kept using it like that for a couple of weeks and then decided to get a new phone (first) and then try the motherboard swap (in case I killed it).
Got my new Moto G6 at costco (Google-FI told me they weren't gonna restock theirs), and then planned my motherboard swap.
Looked on youtube and found the page that we had previously used to try the heatup trick for the nexus 5x. Followed it to swap the motherboard, the battery, and of course the good back case. I was pleasantly surprised when it started up like a dream!
I bought some UNICORN BEETLE cases for the 5X and G6 on Amazon - since I had points and other bucks I ended up getting them for like 10 bucks. (was about $37 otherwise methinks?).
Anyway - motherboard swap is easy, but as always be slow, patient, gentle, and just plod along with the Youtube video.

Exactly what happens if you don't remember these rubber inserts.

Back camera

My little tok a few times my phone and dropped it on the floor and of course I missed the phone on the flor or outside a few times as well. Suddenly the pictures were blur back camera could not find focus. I thought that reset helps but id does not help. I need a new camera. Or a used one from an old phone but it's almost impossible to get i a reasonable price. A new one form Huawei cost more that the worth of the phone right now. And the others which fit er nor original. Any ideas? I thougt to buy an old broken phone and change the camera but it's also difficult to get such a phone. Sometimes when the phone is dropped again it takes fine pictures. Apart form rhat I have this phone since juni 2018 and it works greit. Even battery isn't so bad. Last one day sometimes more.My husband had more expensive samsung s7 since august 2017 and he had to replace a phone because it was lagging and he had to charge the battery a few times a day

I know. The problem is to find a camera that is original. New cameras are not original the only solution is to buy a used one from a used phone
The problem I brought to your attention was peeling off the screen without damaging it, and then gluing it without visible glue and gaps.
Buying a cheap copy with a broken screen is really less of a problem.
