My wireless charging stops working sometimes. Anybody else have this problem?

check very carefully for a swollen body. hard to see, but was most prevalent right at the volume buttons. the case was separating from the glass. at first wireless charging was intermittent, then it stopped altogether. The battery swelling caused the wireless charging to stop. Google replaced my phone after talking with them and sending pictures. If you search my posts you will find pictures under a "wireless charging stopped" or similar thread.

Great. Thanks

I've noticed it recently as well. Might have something to do with the latest update.
This came up on my Google feed.

Google was offering an extended warranty on battery issues. My phone was replaced with cross shipping because my battery had begun to swell and wireless charging stopped working. I looked for my own thread that included pictures I sent to Google but could not find it. I guess it was lost in the recent "upgrade". Look carefully where the front glass meets the case at the volume buttons.

Late I know, but I found my old post. Plus gives you an opportunity to update us.

I got my battery replaced at uBreakiFix per Googles extended warranty thankfully. That fixed the wireless charging problem.

Phone Dies Before Battery Shows 80%

I have been loving my Nexus since I got it on the first day it was available, but a couple days ago it started acting very odd. The phone will intermittently "die" while the battery is still mostly full. The phone will shut down, and if I try to restart it the screen displays the empty battery symbol and will not boot. As soon as I plug the phone in, though, it will boot up immediately and the battery charge icon while the phone is off shows as almost or completely full. When I boot the phone back up it looks like it has 90% or so.
Has anyone else seen this issue with the N6? The phone is completely stock 5.0.1. I purchased it through Sprint, but as far as I know it's exactly the same as all the rest of them.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/nexus-6-att-powering-off-t2976509/page2#post58179998
Same problem here, still no solution. The Amazon thing didn't help for me. Maybe this thread gets some more attraction. Would really love to get this fixed.
I, too, am having this issue which began yesterday. It started as soon as I took it off the charger and the gauge read 100% for about 2 hours straight which was unacceptable since I was using it for just about the entire 2 hours. During that time, I kept checking the battery stats and it kept saying that it was unable to retrieve the battery statistics (or something like that). Then it finally died on me. Now it keeps dying at 80% and charges back up to 100%, only to die again
Sounds like a faulty battery
Sent from my Nexus 6
Same as me, this is the exact same thing that happened to my S4 where the battery expanded............
need to send mine back because of this, together with the back cover lifting off.........

The back cover thing is also indicative of expanding battery
My nexus 6 is doing the same thing shuts down at 90% and will not start without being plugged into a power source. I love my phone but hate this problem. Someone help please !

Try the fix mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60409122
Do you notice any bulging of the rear cover? If so, RMA immediately. This is an indicator of a defective battery if the above mentioned fix doesn't work. Also grounds for RMA.

Replaced battery, now camera doesn't work. Help needed

As the title states, I replaced my battery with an OEM battery and after putting everything back together my camera won't open and the flashlight quick setting tile has disappeared. Changing the battery doesn't require messing with the camera, except for that the flash is part of the back case with pogo pin connectors and they look fine. Any ideas?

Check your cables. The flex cable is very easy to mess up. I have not taken an N6 apart but have messed up a cable in my time. This is the most common mistake. I would take it apart again (making sure to use an anti static environment of course) and make sure not to get an oil from your skin on it. Then try again. Also pull a logcat and see if it is failing.
Well, break it back down because something either isn't connected or something is damaged. Trial and Error.

Flex cables seem good. I've had it back part several times and all with no luck.

The only thing that I can see that could possibly cause the issue would be the contact connections for the flash but they don't appear to be messed up.
I gave up for the night but I'll tear it back open tomorrow and go at it again.
Here is a few logcat screenshots. I think I got all of it.

Before replacement of the battery camera was working. (Assuming).
When you touched contacts of flex cables, cleaning is needed with a solvent like isopropanol.
When you're sure the flex cables are OK, you could try to go back to the previous state and use the old battery and test the camera.
Before that you could connect the charger to the USB and try if the camera is working.
I do those suggestions because I got the impression that there is a connection problem (hardware issue).
This can be temporarily solved by changing the temperature of the device.
a. by charging the battery.
b. cooling down, with a professional aerosol to cool down electronic parts.
c. cooling down the phone in refrigerator or freezer.

I'll give that a try tonight.
Had the N6 apart again tonight, cleaned any and all contacts that could have been soiled by me while changing the battery. The ribbon cables that were in any way disturbed by changing the battery are all in working order. The actual connection for the camera itself was never disturbed and tight enough that I didn't want to risk break it just to try and clean it.
My thought is that perhaps the camera just went bad. I may order a replacement in the next couple weeks just to see what happens.
I have the exact same problem, so I don't think its just a coincidence that yours stopped working when you replaced the battery too. Did your replacement battery have curvature, or was it flat?
I know the issue isn't caused by a ribbon cable, as the cameras are connected directly to the board, and totally separate.

It seemed pretty flat I suppose. I was sure that, after looking at it, that the camera just wasn't being pushed back against the board properly and wasn't making good contact.

I was thinking that might be the issue. The battery I got was flat too. But the Nexus OEM battery has a curvature to it. I had to slightly bend it to get it to fit. Once I got it bent right, there is still some travel up or down. Basically, the battery can sit in the frame a little high or a little lower; it isn't a perfect fit. Finally, the connector for the wireless charger never fit perfectly once I did mine. Did you use a new wireless charging coil, the same, or remove it entirely?

The battery I bought seems oem, it has all the same markings as the original.
I actually was able to reuse the wireless charging pad. It was a ***** to get the connector lined up but I managed it.

I have a wireless charger that I use for my N7 that I used to test it, and yes it still worked.
Well, it seems my camera just decided to start working again.
I haven't peeled the adhesive backing off of the new "battery cover" yet, it is just being held in place by my case at the moment. I figure if it is still working at the end of the week I'll go ahead and place it permanently.

Anyone having wireless charging issues?

I only got my phone last week but I'm already seeing an issue where it will stop wireless charging. If I'm just using it for a while and then go to put it on the charger and it will not charge or indicate that it's charging. I have been keeping a simple Spigen case on it but that doesn't seem to matter - did the same thing case or no case. I also tried multiple wireless chargers - same on all of them. It's definitely aligned properly too.
I do have Battery Care turned on (custom, after 10pm) - but even when that is active it still shows that it's charging and everything functions as expected. And this has happened outside of those specified BC hours.
A restart seems to bring it back - but something is up given that it's happened a couple times already in less than a week. Anyone else seeing this?
I'm just waiting for it to happen again before reaching out to Support.
Follow up: it just did it again this evening.
I wanted to avoid restarting the phone just to see if I could get it working again. I tried a couple chargers again, no sign of charging at all. I went into Battery Care and turned it off - still no charging. I plugged a cable in to charge and it worked normally. I waited a couple minutes, removed the cable again and then tried a wireless charger again and it worked this time!
I'm leaving Battery Care off and have now restarted my phone again. Will see how it goes for the next couple days.
I also found this thread on Sony's forums: https://community.sony.ee/t5/xperia-1/xperia-1-ii-wireless-charging-stopped-working/td-p/3686459
I'm not sure he was having the same issue though, as it appeared his wireless chargers at least detected the device and tried to charge - they just couldn't establish the connection to do it. Though his solution did sound like it was the "custom" option in Battery Care that may be the culprit.
It did it again this morning. Plugging a wired charger got it to work again but I've emailed Support now. This is dumb. Will update with any additional troubleshooting or possible solution.

Multiple chargers. A 15W Anker charger, a 3 coil Ikea charger, a generic 10W charger at work, and a Pixel Stand. As it's happened I usually have multiple chargers around to test, so I've tried any of them available. Temperature hasn't appeared to matter. I definitely have not had the phone "hot" when trying it but I have also waited like a half hour or so to try it again thinking about potential temperature issues.
I also posted it to Reddit this morning on /r/sonyxperia and someone responded saying that there's a new update from Docomo that appears to call out a fix for wireless charging occasionally not working. So I'm hopeful that might be what I'm experiencing. Still waiting to hear something back from Support.

I use one from Belkin. https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F7U083/
When I use the phone heavily and it's sort of hot it doesn't charge for a while. Once it's cold it works flawlessly. I have the US version, latest firmware. And an addition to that is my Spigen case.
only thing I noticed is that it is very picky about positioning, as it is a long phone it easy easy to miss place
I've got issue with an ikea wireless charger plugged to a Sony clock.
Issue fixed with an other cable from the clock to the charger.
Use quality cable like the stock Sony one.

I encountered the same issue today, "it says wireless chargering cannot start".Any one find out what is the problem?!
Help...
Purchased on release day directly from Sony Store online.
No issues with wireless charging until a few days ago.
Will first initially register as charging, but after 5 seconds, will stop and pop up window will indicate that wireless charging cannot start.
This issue is with several wireless chargers.
No issue with direct charging.
Tried BatteryCare function off/on, but no change.
Any assistance in helping resolve this will be greatly appreciated.

For some sort of strange reason, the wireless charging has corrected itself.
The issue has disappeared and functioning as designed.

Wireless charging stopped working 4 XL

I see on some sites that users are reporting this and some think that it's related to the security update in March. That seems to be when mine quit charging wirelessly on known-good chargers.
On mine, it intermittently will never handshake with the charger, start to charge then lose connection or never charge beyond a certain point.
Wondering if anyone here is having this problem.
This sounds like the issue people have had with battery connector. There seems to be a faulty battery connector or easy to break small piece. Many have reported this and have had to either fix it themselves, get another unit or pay to get it fixed. Search around you will see what I mean. I haven't heard anything about an update causing this. I have heard that there is a piece that connects battery to phone that breaks easily. I've read quite a few reports of this and how a slight drop can cause it to break and cause charging issues... Read one person put a piece of electrical tape on it and fixed it that way.. idk. That probably doesn't help much. I hope you get it fixed. If you think it's March update and want to rule it out install April update.

Check for a swollen battery. On mine the glass started to separate near the volume buttons. I didn't find it until I took the case off and inspected it carefully. I was able to get a free replacement. There was extended coverage for 4XL battery issues... maybe still available. My issue was not the same as the battery connector issues also documented on XDA.
Erratic wireless charging and swollen battery
This issue is related to the battery, but not the connector issue others are having. About 3 weeks ago I started experiencing erratic wireless charging. Sometimes it would be fine, other times it would just stop for no reason, or not even start...

That was it exactly.
I talked to them and they escalated me to the "product safet6y team" and I'm waiting to hear back from them to see if they will replace it.
I was heartbroken when it lost wireless charging because I really wanted to keep this phone as long as possible and hated that something was broken. It's almost perfect in every way (and no notch or punch-hole.)
I also had the Soli unit go bad and they replaced my phone early on under warranty. I think LG did a great on these as the ODM, but it looks like their component sources were the problems.
Thanks again for the excellent help.
So I was having the same problem. I had to pop the back off my phone. You can see where the wireless charging pad has a spot where it contacts two pins on the phone side. I bent those two small pins slightly upward and put the back back on. YouTube how to get the back off I only used a small pry tool and my fingernail to bend the pins. You don't need to unhook the back. You can do everything with it connected.
Go slow be careful Good luck

Anyone having wireless charging issues after the last update?

I flashed the march ota like I usually do and now my wireless charging is all wonky. It connects then a few seconds later it turns off. I am using the charger I have been using since I purchased the phone and never had this problem. It is happening on my wireless charger and my car stand. Anyone else have this issue?
@kidhudi
Check the phone for swelling near the volume buttons. I've had two P4XL's the battery became swollen to the point the back glass starting separating from the frame. In both cases my wireless charging became intermittent and then finally stopped charging wirelessly altogether. In both cases charging with a cable always worked as expected. Your issue has absolutely nothing to do with any firmware/ota update. This is one of two prevalent issues with the battery. The other concerns a brittle connector to the battery cracking or even breaking, usually associated with dropping the phone.
