Best to check this thread:
Any chance of AW 2.0 being ported to the Gear Live?
Since there's no official support for the Gear Live with Android Wear 2.0, will there be any possibility of getting a 2.0 ROM modded for this watch?

Hold on to your hats!!! I mean Galaxy Gears.... Or even buy up the old ones cheap as they have a larger battery and will obviously be cheaper than the Gear 2 & Neo.
Some of you suggested this which was nice and sensible as it was only a software update, but some clearly thought that GG owners would be left abandoned after just 6 months or less.... There is no icon to roll my eyes as much as I need to here.
Anyway - rejoice as the Jesus watch rises.
Sooo who's first to do the downgrade?
I haven't seen Tizen in person yet, but I'm 100% sure it will not replace Null ROM with my needs.
When one news source publishes something completely unsubstantiated that doesn't make it true. Here's the quote...
There was a worry that there would be no love for the older model, but a Samsung spokesperson confirmed to TechRadar that the Android would be stripped out and replaced with the new OS.
http://www.techradar.com/news/porta...upgrade-original-galaxy-gear-to-tizen-1227889Maybe it's true, maybe TechRadar is phishing for click-throughs. Kind of like re/code saying Samsung was ditching TW to please Google who sold Motorola to please Samsung. No outward sign of either unsubstantiated rumor being true (so far).

Assuming that it will be sidegraded/downgraded to Tizen, then the real issue is the other quote from a Samsung representative, the part that mentions that only the gear 2 and gear 2 neo will have their sdk released and even with Tizen on our original Galaxy Gears, we won't getting any decent apps.

And by extension if you have software development kit you can develop apps that run on Tizen.
The Galaxy Gear will have a some point ..... knowing how fast Samsung is maybe in months run Tizen.
A Tizen app is a Tizen app if it runs on the Gear 2 it will run on the Galaxy Gear (unless the app uses the heart rate monitor)
Other than the heart rate monitor the Galaxy Gear has the same hardware as the Gear 2, it will running Tizen and have exactly the same apps.
Now me I personally do not believe any watch running Tizen will ever have more Apps that a watch running Android but other that no heart rate monitor, maybe a ever so minor improvement on the clock there it no reason buy a Gear 2.
Me at this point I really do not care, I am 95% certain if anything I will get a Gear Fit, and the Gear Fit will not run Tizen or have many if any future apps.

Unless it has some unique api that needs the sdk. Then were screwed.
So good news with respect to Tizen and its feared incompatibility...

Hopefully someone will come up with a free option in converting apps to Tizen. $5000 PER APP is absurd. What about ask the developers who create free apps for android? What about customers who have paid for apps but the developers don't choose to pay 5grand to convert the app to a Tizen compatible version? If developing apps using HTML5 is as easy as Fomey says it is then we may have a shot at getting decent apps for the gear2, but if not...... My choice to hold out for the gear2 instead of getting the galaxy gear will probably bite me in the arse. I wonder if the galaxy gear will be able to downgrade after the Tizen update. If not I better go grab one now...

i'll eat my hat if that will be possible. but it won't. tizen is supposed to be better - according to samsung - so why give an option to downgrade?

I never said it was easy hehe.
Seriously tho, it would be awesome if HTML5 apps have hardware access.. we shall see!
I'll be impressed if they can OTA a whole new OS onto the watch. It's a little shady though. Imagine buying an apple computer, and having them ota windows onto it 6 months later.

Just wondering, why hasn't there been any development on real Gear Apps that install on both the Phone (as the data provider) and on the Gear (as the data slave) ?
All the Official Gear Apps do this.
This would eliminate the cumbersome need for Bluetooth Tethering.
Because there is no sdk available
ic, tho how are some 3rd party apps you see in the Gear Store being developed?

Some select companies have access to the sdk
Well, that's rather myopic of Samsung (not surprisingly).
Their Watch is doing badly enough, did they really think they could charge for the SDK?
Why is Samsung's Software division (1 intern) such a failure across the board?

Nah, think they knew gear 2 was going to be out pretty soon after gear 1. gear 2 sdk has been out for a little while
As you say, the SDK for Tizen has been released a while ago, I wonder how many apps will be available on Launch Day for Tizen.
Do you think Developers will hesitate to support Tizen now that Google Wear has been announced?
Seems to me, if Samsung wanted to succeed in capturing the market, they should have released Tizen update for Gear ONE, 6 months ago to have a fair chance.

Gear
There is a full working version of Android Wear for the Samsung Galaxy Gear (SM-V700) ????
Hi,
I am using LG Urbane 2 with iPhone. On the Google website with AW 2.0 preview there is the info, that beside installation of the AW 2.0 image on the watch, the beta app has to be installed on the phone from Play Store. As far as I know there is no such beta of AW phone application for iOS, right? So is there any way to use AW 2.0 with iOS?

Any word on this one?? I too would REALLY appreciate the update to this so I can continue to use my watch.
Anyone willing to make a rom with andriod wear 2 ?
Had my neo working great on my nexus6P until the nexus crashed with the boot loop.
Was able to restore phone after a factory reset, but since then lost all watch faces I had. They used to be there under the new Wear OS (used to be andriod wear)
but all gone. The Rom i have is using andriod wear 1.4
It seems that 1.5 wear, and older, are not supported by wear OS app anymore. As Tizen does not work with non Samsung, my gear 2 neo have no connection to my mobile (Zuk Z2 Pro).
Does anyone know any turn around to make it connect to non samsung mobile?
@CaioCaFe to get your watch working with Android wear 1.5+, you just need to install an older version of the app on your phone, get set it up, then update the app on your phone. It will maintain the connection with your watch. As for going back to Tizen, the Samsung apps do work on some non Samsung phones, but it's relatively limited. There are some modded versions, but I couldn't get any of them to work on my old phone. My current phone (LG Stylo 3) is actually legit compatible, not that I would go back to Tizen if you paid me...unless it was enough to get a Ticwatch, lol.
That being said, I would also like to see Wear 2 for this watch.
Where can I find a android wear apk that works?

If your watch has Tizen on it, you can't use Android Wear. You have to use the Samsung apps. If your watch has Wear, you have to go on apkmirror and get an old version of the app. I don't recall exactly how far back you need to go. Also, let the app find the phone. Don't connect it to Bluetooth first.
Any pointers on where to find an older gear apk?
Hi, everyone it work for gear 2 (ir and camera)
