No root method as the US models have locked bootloaders. Been like this since the S7 came out.

Yes all US Note 9's have locked bootloaders. If you want one with an unlocked bootlader then buy the international Snapdragon model which has a unlocked bootloader.

I've been reading and it seems there are certain build numbers that can't be rooted or unlocked. Can someone spell out for mewhat I need to look for when purchasing a s5 so that I can unlock and root it? Thanks in advance.

It is the AT&T and Verizon Galaxy S5's that can't be bootloader unlocked. This is also the reason why you aren't able to root as easily either.
So if I buy an unlocked device, I'll be good?

No. You need to get the phone from Tmobile (tmobile version). Both ATT and Verizon has bootloader locked.

Is root possible? Note 4 N910A AT&T 6.0.1 Marshmallow Build: MMBM29M.N910AUCU2EPK1
I've had my Note 4 for about 2 years, and have been patiently waiting for a root to be possible on it. Can anyone tell me what the latest word is on this? I love my Note 4, but am ready to consider any and all options to get a rooted AT&T phone. I'd be willing to downgrade the firmware, or purchase a different version of Note 4 which is rootable, and is unlocked for AT&T. Please advise!

Its a dream that never became true to root AT&T note 4.
I suggest you swap with T-mobile note 4 because AT&T sim works just fine with T-mobile note 4 including 4g LTE.
And of course T-mobile note 4 is very easy to root and there are dozens of custom roms available.

Hi Everyone,
I've searched and could not find a clear answer, and am hoping someone can help.
I just purchased a US Samsung Note 8 (SM-950U1), my question is, is it possible for me to install the G955W (Canadian) firmware on this device?
For Canadian users is anyone currently using a US Note 8 (SM-950U1) Factory unlocked?
Thanks.
Made a typo I meant can I flash SM-N950W Canadian firmware to a SM-950U1 Factory unlocked Note 8
Thanks,

not yet, North American models are all Snapdragon with locked bootloaders. If someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you could get a flashable zip version of a Canadian ROM and use that but as far as I've seen nobody has been able to do much with the Snapdragon variants yet.
I have been reading the s8 plus thread where users have flashed the s8 plus Canadian (sm-g955w) firmware to the Us s8 plus (sm-g955u) is it not the same process?
Thanks for your help

If you follow the s8 + guide...if available it would be the same for u...I am working on a guide for carrier switching but it is for U.S. snapdragon models...but it uses the Canadian XAC home_csc...I say pm the poster of the s8+ that you mentioned for details and then flash at your own risk....you can always flash back to your original....before you do, though, insert your Canadian carrier SIM and see if you can activate it...when I was testing the carrier switch there were options to change to Canadian csc's....good luck
Any update? I also bought my note 8 from USA. With the US firmware, we do not have access to certain features like VOLTE or caller ID and spam protection.
Check out blue fox's thread. I just flashed US firmware on a Canadian unlocked XAA device(not sim locked to Rodgers, bell etc). long as your flashing stock Samsung firmware, youll be fine. The Canadian and US Note 8 phones are basically the same.

Hello all.
I just received an "unlocked" Sprint Note 8 cellphone N950U and Im a little confused.
I used to had a Note 4 that i flashed with a U firmware that removed all the bloatware, is this avaible for the Note 8?
Why arent custom roms or a stable root (magisk) avaible for this cellphone?
Had a lot of time retired from Samsung side (OnePlus guy here) but was stolen during a car accident that i had this weekend.
Thanks a lot and dont forget your safety belt while driving!

EDIT: Never mind... wrong link if you want to root the phone. This is your only option to root on snapdragon. I would suggest you read through that thread.

Note 8 is locked bootloader ....there will be no twrp for it until it's unlocked ....which probably won't ever happen .. root is available but not once it's updated past bootloader v3 ...it's the only phone I have had that I didn't root ....I have flashed the Oreo roms and the unlocked versions .... But there aren't any custom roms ...

Did you recommend me Oreo or Nougat Unlocked?

Oreo has not been OFFICIALLY released for the Note8. There has been some leaked builds, but none for the unlocked U1 firmware. So if you want Oreo, you'll have to go with carrier firmware.

Dear God no. Unless you want a brick.
Now, seriously, all of your questions have been answered in detail, and in guides, here on XDA. I highly encourage you to use the search bar and do some research of your own.

Hello All,
It has been a while since I returned back to the forms and seems kinda hard to find the path. . . .
Is this the right place for Samsung note 9 Tmobile? if not, can someone please point me to the correct forums for the T-mobile users who has the Samsung Note 9 Smartphone.
I see a lot of threads for Verizon and ATT and I don't want to be in the wrong place.
Like everyone else, I want to dig into the threads and root my Note 9.

Yes this is the correct place, the threads aren't broken up by carrier anymore also unless you have the Exynos version (which I assume you do not because you said that's on T-Mobile) Root is not available for the Snapdragon variant and I believe it hasn't been since the Galaxy S7?

acctualy, the forum is not wrong but your phone is.
so if you thought about rooting it, then you bought the wrong note 9 model.

Yup! You're in the right place! However, there is no root for the US Note 9s with the Snapdragon processor. Only the international versions have unlockable bootloaders and/or root. But the problem with an international version is no warranty and you won't have as great of a signal due to differences in supported radio bands and lack of carrier aggregation. Though some people in the US have had luck with them.
Also once you unlock the bootloader and root, you break Knox, which is permanent. Once that happens you'll never have Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, etc...again.

The Note 8 HAD root. Samfail was patched long ago when Oreo came out. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible to root the Note 8 now.

Yeah, but he'll lose carrier aggregation, so poorer signal strength, and US Warranty. And once rooted, Samsung Pay, etc.
What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Glad I made it here!!!
Thanks for the reply everyone who chimed in.
Here we go again with the no "root" from the 7 edge to this . . .
T-Mobile had this promotion that was hard to pass up so I upgraded.
What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Root
De-Bloat the bundled apps that I will not use
Install recovery tools
Install backup tools (need root)
Pimp out the kernel
It take me awhile to navigate around XDA to look for these tools and such.
I have never used Samsung Pay nor am I onboard with that service.
If anyone knows where I can find some of these tools, please don't hold back because it will take me awhile to get started.
Thanks Again!

appart from using adb to disable packages, none of the above list is possible without root.
nothing has changed regarding if the device is unrootable then these things aren't possible.

Root is not possible. Root will not be possible. You bought a phone that can't and won't be rooted. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible.
You can't have root.
Just in case you want to root the T-Mobile Note 9...you can't.
Ok, no one has provided a root or cooked a Kernel . . .
Are there any rooted roms that were baked?
Silly to ask, but are there any pure android roms for this Note 9?

I'm not sure why you're so confused. The bootloader can be unlocked. So no custom ROMs. NONE. There is no root and never will be.
What you're asking is impossible.
