Can I flash SM-G9980 (Taiwan BRI) with SM-G998B firmware (any region/csc) or it must be from same model?
Also my model in the network mode doesn't show:
2G Only
3G Only
etc...
it shows only:
3G/2G (auto connect)
4G/3G/2G (auto connect)
etc...
In other words I would like to force network mode to 2G only which I saw available only in the SM-G998B
Thanks!

No. One is Snapdragon G9980 and other is Exynos G998B
No.
Mine has the ability to select 2G only. I suggest you try changing CSC to TGY.

Oh that's interesting guys. I will change my CSC to TGY then. I can do that by flashing the TGY firmware using Odin right?
Does using the HOME_CSC changes the CSC or I need to wipe all the data?
And after that OTA will work fine?
Thanks!
So can I use Odin to flash a new firmware to change the CSC? I want to change from (Taiwan BRI) to (TGY Hong Kong). Please advise, do I need to wipe all data on phone?

I told ya on the other thread that I did change it. What part are you not understanding?
You'll need to flash HOME_CSC if you want to prevent wiping data on your phone.
I tried to flash the TGY using the HOME_CSC and Odin showed pass and then device rebooted, but nothing changed. It's still showing BRI.

Sorry it's not clear, can you please explain?
you first need to backup your device using Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP).
after backing it up, go to install and try flashing the firmware.
This app requires root and doesn't do the job. There no s21 on the list of devices even.
Is there anybody here who can help?

I tried flashing the Home_CSC with May firmware and it didn't change it. I discovered I'm also on BRI firmware. I haven't tried it but you can try to flash the whole TGY (Hong Kong Firmware) using odin.
Edit:Beware that this will perform a factory reset on the device

Can u plz do these for Note 4 N910C XME malaysia CSC ....plz i want csc flashable file....
Whats the differences between these CSC's?
XSA is the bebranded one you purchase outright from Harvey Norman. TEL is the telstra CSC on telstra branded phones includes telstra branding on boot up and shutdown. I however removed branding on telstra CSC to reduce size. The telstra model also runs a different modem to the XSA variant
-= Note 4 & Gear VR =-
Both however will work and if you have telstra be sure to flash telstra modem too
-= Note 4 & Gear VR =-
i have two note 4's and have NO IDEA what they came with stock actually, as i got both second hand.
i've updated both to the latest telstra modems previously, but that didnt change much.

It would use telstra apn settings from csc. All aussies better off using XSA csc and correct modem per your operaters firmware. XSA csc has all Australian providers APNS and no branding.

Well, first, you shouldn't start a new thread, this is development forum. Place your questions to related thread, rom - kernel - modem - recovery - etc, next time.
I see you are using touchwiz rom. Are you i9305 user for sure? It might be that you have wrong modem.
Couple of questions.
1) Phone model
2) Rom
3) Baseband

It doesn't matter you're from turkey. You must flash this way. Otherwise the situation is this like it's now, no network.
The reason for 'no network' is that because you didn't flash XXUFOA1 modem and default CSC, you have old JellyBean modem which doesn't work with KitKat Touchwiz roms.
So.. Flash that modem (XXUFOA1) and csc (ROM Default)
Then you'll have working network.

Alright. Thank you for the pic. Now I can see you indeed have kitkat modem installed. Sorry for making presumptions so quick.
I checked the rom thread and there was someone with same problem, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/rom-4-4-4-t3026347/post60493200#post60493200
But the solution was the same I suggested to you, flash latest modem (XXUFOA1) and csc (ROM Default).
Just make a nandroid backup before, so if it doesn't work you can always restore back.
And since your Rom version is 8, you could download v9 and update your rom at same time
I've already read a bunch of forums on this and finally got into the ims settings but they all say "false" Is there any way with or without root to enable the settings. If I do have to root it, what do I do after to activate these features? The phone has the T-Mobile boot animation and receives T-Mobile software updates. I'm using it on MetroPCS. If I switched to T-Mobile would the features work then? My last phone was a locked T-Mobile S8 and that worked fine on MetroPCS with all the features. Thank you.

I'm guessing the phone started on AT&T firmware, and was not correctly moved to TMB. XAA means U1 fw (att + tmb are U). You're using Frankenstein software, suppose that's part of the problem. If you flash the Tmobile fw with your SIM inserted it should fix that.

This was originally an ATT device. That's what the 3rd CSC Code tells you. It can't be changed, but it also doesn't affect anything.
My guess is someone flashed this to the N960U1 firmware, and then just flashed the T-Mobile CSC file. Probably to get back RCS texting or Video calling. But it left you with Frankenstein firmware.
Just flash a full T-Mobile firmware through ODIN. Use the CSC_OYN file, not the HOME_CSC file. Flash all five files. It will force a factory reset, but should get you back on the full T-Mobile firmware.
If it goes right, you'll end up with TMB/TMB/ATT. which is what I also have.

Hi,
I recently purchased a G9980 from Asia and received the BRI CSC version.
I've tried a 5g Giffgaff SIM in slot 1 and 2 and can't get 5g in a 5g area.
I've done a bit of research that says that there are 5g problems with the BRI version in Europe, but the listed problems seem to be mostly about 5g not being listed in the network options 2g/3g/4g/5g etc which is present in this version so not sure if changing the CSC will fix that.
Can anyone shed any light before I go down the samkey route to changing to TGY as to whether this will work?

Changing CSC is NOT possible with Samkey for G9980. You'll have to use ODIN to flash the CSC.
On Sammobile I checked and both TGY and BRI seem to have the same CSC file lol

On HK variant, no need to change CSC if you just want to enable some 5G bands and make 5G work. Did you already try methods on the link I shared specially the "Remove NR Whitelisting" one?

Sorry I struggle to navigate the XDA website on mobile. The layout is not great. So I didn't see all your post but now that I have read it, it seems to be exactly what I need! I'll try it when I get home later and I can concentrate on not messing it up and can check the band's I need. I'll report back layer. Thanks again!

Hi!
It worked! Thank you so much for your help!
I didn't get the 800mbs above, only 200, but it's a good start! Cheers!

The speed depends on your location and network.
Thank you.
So do I gain anything from changing to TGY which seems to be universally recommended over BRI? Faster updates? Less bloatware? Anything else?
