[Q] Galaxy Ace some kind of network lock

I recently got hands on to my friends Galaxy Ace, who complained that the phone is locked.
When inserted SIM card and dialed, got error "network not available", but the phone shows signal bars.
When dialed *#7465625# to see network locks, it shows that all locks are off?
Any ideas? Should I root the phone?

Root aint gonna help u in anyways!
Check Your Friend IMEI ... *#06#
If Shown only 0000000 at your friends IMEI ... you got your self an expensive brick!
If not try with other sim card ... if all locks are off, phone is unlocked for sure! you could have a modem problem
It shows phone full IMEI code.
OK try this,
go to settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > network operators
once you tap on that it will search and find all the available operators choose the one that is yours or try some others. My friend had same kinda problem but he is in another country and well this is the way he managed to solve his problem. so try it. and if I helped press the thanks button thank you.
Good luck ;-)

you have two more options either try a different network as said above or change your ROM. if those don't work then its a hardware error. which unfortunately we cant do anything about it.
good luck ;-) if that helps the thanks button is the way to help back.
Which ROM do you recommend?
how do you turn the network locks off

it depends on what you would expect from a ROM. performance or battery life or look or ...
here r my suggestions:
miracle edition v4 (performance is good so is the battery life and its ics themed so its at the top in my list) >>>I'm a link ;-)<<<
Jusada's ORIGINAL ICS Final (performance really good and battery life is good and its ics themed but you may run into stability issues if you over clock and use the phone continuously. but overall its cool also its got cool transition animations that most other roms don't) >>>I'm a link ;-)<<<
or you may use the official cyanogenmod ok? let me know if you need any help with flashing roms. ;-). In additions if I helped pressing the thanks button is the way to help back around here.

Hi RaidoRi, did you ever manage to find a solution to this problem? I am experiencing the the exact same issue - I am trying to get a Swiss Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i phone+ Mucho (Swiss) SIM to operate in Canada - I HAVE to get it to work for a personal reason... I also have "Network Lock is [OFF] after dialing *#7465625# and I have a full IMEI (not just 000's).... The network that the phone selects automatically does not work with the Swiss SIM ... (The phone only works with "Rogers", and the Mucho SIM will only work with "Bell Canada" - because that is the company that Mucho's parent, Swisscom, has an international relationship with). Do you have any idea how I can get the phone to work and make my Swiss SIM card work here? I have been trying everything for over a year now but cannot seem to find a solution (the latest attempt was asking a friend from Switzerland to mail me a brand new phone and this is what I am now trying to unlock)... Other phones in North America will not recognize the SIM card at all...
Sorry if this is confusing but if anyone can help I would greatly GREATLY appreciate it, and I am sure by now you are all aware that I am not a developer so sorry if my question is kind of all over the place.
Thanks in advance!!

go to motorola website
find for repair and chat with them.
To have it back, go to USABox . com and open an account.. you'll get an US address..
explain to Moto that your cell is hardlocked.. reinforce that you don't want to UNLOCK your phone.. just to have an UNLOCKABLE device again
say that now your phone even can't detect the sim card.. they will give you an RMA number.. put you phone in a box and ship it to USA
when they ask for you address, give the USABox one.
When your account at usabox receive the phone, forward it to your country.
i cant do that because of a stupid law that says no cellphones can be buy outside of ecuador.... so if i send my phone out the country... i cant get it back inside the country again.....

Help with my LG

hi guys i put this post here because i search on the forum but i couldnt find anything about my LG VS930, i made i hard reset on the phone and now i cant activate the phone =( its from verizon and i live in central america... please help me, is there a way to past the activation screen, i have also the original micro simcard but still cant activate the phone... from the activation screen i can access to the settings and change from Global mode to GSM but still cant activate... please help me.. i wanna use my phone again =(
Sorry but what means "activate the phone" ??
I don't know about verizon phones but maybe I can help .
Sent From LG-P880 .
Try Use THANKS If I Helped .
You have to be connected to a VZ network to activate since they use CDMA and do not work like standard GSM phones that you can just insert a Sim.
You might have to mail it to someone in the states to activate it for you then mail it back to you.
Or call VZ and tell them your traveling and had to reset because your phone was acting up. There might be something they can do.

Sony Xperia Z C6603 SMART PREPAID LTE SIM PHILIPPINES NOT WORKING

Good evening to all, i'm new here, i just want to discuss the experience that i've went through using a SMART prepaid LTE Micro Sim to Xperia Z C6603, so far, i've been troubled by the SIM because the phone cannot detect any connection even if it's not LTE(i think my phone is the problem). but first let's discuss the sim, i went to the office of SMART(Philippines) SM Ecoland Davao City to confirm my complaint regarding their connection. but worse to worst., they cannot do anything about it(FYI the SIM worked on other devices such as SAMSUNG Galaxy S4 and HUWAIE[forgot the model sorry ]), so after the results, i went to Sony Service Center Located at Gaisano Mall of Davao City, after i've complained about it, they said that there is still no LTE here in our city and yet my sister's phone which is using another network provider is now in LTE mode, after she shown her device, the staff of sony was in silence for a few minutes(haha) . Think they know it all right?.. so after that, they tried and tried and failed. Their last attempt was to update my firmware to 4.2.2 jellybean(Sony update). But it still fails. haha..anyway, if you guys have some idea on how to fix this , please message me here, or send me a mail @ [email protected]. Thanks guys. and I really appreciate the help .

Try checking your supported basebands by tapping in on your dialer the following:
*#*#SERVICE#*#* where Service is keyed in numerically. Sorry don't memorize the number sequence. Hehe
Make sure you have LTE supported as a baseband.
Another way is to try and flash some stock ROM's. You'll find a lot on the forums.
Good luck
Thanks

Hey there, thanks for helping me, actually i've done what you've asked me to do and yes it is capable for LTE, i think there are many bands supported by Xperia Z , It actually supports LTE_BC1,LTE_BC3,LTE_BC5,LTE_BC7,LTE_BC8,LTE_BC20..
anyway, can you give me a link on how to properly root my xperia z, i just got it updated to jellybean 4.2.2 yesterday. Thanks a lot man. you did well.
Did you receive any SMS from Smart for setting up your data? My phone also had that problem and was unable to connect to Mobile Data. I don't exactly remember what I did but it's somewhere under mobile network settings.
check your APN maybe?
Its working on Cebu City LTE status

Phone restarting...

I had this happen in 3 different instances:
1) Come back to the phone, which was lying on the table, to find that it was restarted. Happened 3 times in 5 minutes.
2) Another time, the phone restarted for no reason - I came back and it was asking for pattern instead of fingerprint because it restarted.
3) In a 20 minute drive, the phone restarted twice, which was announced by the Bluetooth car unit. I stopped each time and verified that the phone actually restarted.
At first, I thought it was me holding the power button wrong and it getting stuck.
But I have tried my best to not push the power button in any weird way, and then it still happened.
Moreover, here's an interesting exchange between, apparently, ZTE and users. Credit to oberio28:
5, sometimes the phone will automatically restart, how is this going?
A: We have located the reason and will resolve this issue in the next release, please update to the latest version to experience.

I am on NA rom v3.0 and I don't see a fix anywhere yet.
Anyone else?
It doesn't happen for me, Global EU 2.09
Just updated from 1.11 to 1.15 NA. Going to see if that fixes reboots.
Also, why the hell doesn't the phone remember the Bluetooth volume level? Is that a Pie thing?

Thanks for the info.
Do you know anything about this problem?
"I use ATT as as carrier, and I tried several of their sim cards. As soon as I install the card, that Sim slot (1 or 2) truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits, so it thinks that's it's a CDMA sim card. I think this is the reason why I cannot access GSM calling settings such as Call Forwarding. It says "Network or Sim card error."

I use ATT prepaid mine does the same but the last digit is a check, meaning once sim is activated it helps hide your full IMEI. I get 4g LTE and no Voice HD calling, hence it always reverts to 4g/3g in calls. Got to love US carriers.

Thanks. It was explained to me at an ATT store that Voice over LTE was not available for a prepaid plan.
However, can you change Call Forwarding settings (I cannot, and I am not sure what the problem is):
Phone app / ... / Settings / Calling accounts / AT&T / GSM call settings / Call forwarding / Voice
?
Mine gives me reply "Call settings error , Network or SIM card error."

Yeah I get the same error, I don't think it's phone though. My other phone is Poco F1 and its all custom ROM with no LTE bands and it does the same. But both can transmit/receive calls with same sim though...I think its more the network and not being AT&T branded phone.

Thanks. Here's more info that may be relevant.
1) Oneplus 6, global version, doesn't have this problem, that is not being able to set up call forwarding from the phone.
2) Whenever AT&T sim card is inserted into a slot (1 or 2), that slot truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits by removing the last digit.
So, if without the sim card IMEI 1 is XXX...XXX5, it becomes XXX...XXX when the sim card is inserted into slot 1. Same happens to IMEI 2 if the card is inserted into slot 2.
