So as the title says, i woke up today and my Wifi isn't working for some reason. I try to turn it on but it wont even turn on. I am on MIUI 13 global and have been on it for quite sometime. Has anybody else encountered a similar issue?

Sorry to be bearer of bad news but it looks like your WiFi chip is fried which is a defect in most Mi 11's

why though, I've had it for quite some time now and I went to sleep one day and today it was like that with no reason whatsoever. I'll go to the service center ASAP. You think they can just fix the broken part or do they have to change multiple components or something?

If it's still in warranty you'll get a new phone otherwise board would be replaced....sadly this always how it happens either when you restart it or the other morning I really hope mine doesn't happen it's related to device being consistently overheated
Make sure you take action quick as wifi failure is a precursor to the main motherboard getting fried.
Source: personal experience. Just had my Mi 11 motherboard replaced under warranty. Luckily only lost one week's worth of data as I did a backup prior to the whole phone going kaput.
The issue seems to be more complex than what meets the eye. Qca6490 is both the wifi and Bluetooth 5.0 chipset, having it break would mean making both of them nonfunctional but we know that's not the case for Bluetooth.
I have a theory about what the issue is but I don't have enough data to confirm it. It would help me if you could download Device Info HW from PlayStore and get screenshot of SOC, SYSTEM and THERMAL tab(of the latter it would be better if the device was cooled down, data disabled. I would just need screens of modem-wifi-usr, the four voices starting with pm, wireless-therm, wifi-therm)

Are these taken when the phone was cooled down and data was either turned off or turned on by no more than a few seconds? In any case I would need the temps of pm8350, all the three voices and pm735, scroll down and you can find them easily
heh funny, exactly same thing happened to me two days go and not even on miui 13, i try to hard reset and update phone to miui 13 to see if its software issue but nope, so i have give phone to service under warranty second time, first time was display, really dissapointed with those issue on one year old flagship model

M.Walaa said:
This is only based on a very small sample of devices analyzed and it may be not accurate. If people with this issue see this, I hope they can try to reach me out so we can get more device samples.
Okay, so this is what I found:
1. The Mi 11 that had their wifi fried under the system tab they all expose the Bluetooth voice. This is actually very odd because not all of them do which may indicates differenent revisions in either the wifi/bluetooth chip, motherboard or the SoC itself. I am not saying that all the ones that expose the Bluetooth voice will fry but, as it stands now, all the ones who had their wifi fried they all exposed the Bluetooth voice.
2. They are characterized by extremely high temperatures that not only interest the SoC but seems to be spread throughout the entire motherboard. What strikes me as extremely suspicious is the pm8350 temps aka the PMIC. They were quite high in all the samples with broken wifis. While this could be attributed to the fact the pm8350 chipsets are just behind the 888 which is known to be a hot SoC, I would like to focus on a particular data. We have seen similiar high PMIC+SoC combo temps in other devices such as the Poco X3 Pro which is known to have faulty PMIC issues that can cause hard bricks. It wouldn't surprise me if this was also the case, after all the PMIC is tasked with DVFS and a faulty one may not be scaling frequencies and voltages properly. That may be the cause of the unexplainable, increased heat that may damage a component or a series of electronical components around the wifi chipset itself.
3. All the devices that had their wifi fried seems to have broken before or around their first year of use. Again this is only based on a way too low sample of devices but as it stands now the chances of it breaking after the first year of use are very low. This particular detail made me think that there may have been a particular wifi firmware bug that triggers after a specific date, a sort of time bomb which isn't unheard of in softwares. Even though I am pretty positive this is not the case, trying to set your phone time to a day previous to the one where your wifi broke won't hurt just to check.

1- I am not sure I understand what you mean by bluetooth voice.
2- While am not a techie in this particular field and don't fully understand the scope of this point, I'd like to offer an uninformed opinion nonetheless based on my academic background.
Could it be that the heat that is spread throughout the motherboard has to do with a defective vapor chamber? It is a well-known fact that SD888 is a behemoth when it comes to its heat output, most companies address this by adding a vapor chamber in their phones to dissipate the heat and if I remember anything from my heat transfer classes, it stands to reason that a defective VC would lead to heat not dissipating properly, leading to the entire motherboard having issues and maybe the Wi-fi module is the weakest link in this chain?
However, this does not explain why the SD888 itself doesn't fry, maybe it has to do with its built in throttling mechanisms? I don't really game on my phone and the most I do is Spotify and maybe Netflix so I never really pushed it to test if i'd fry the SD888
3- The software bomb is an interesting but imo a very unlikely theory considering the heat signature output its most likely a physical hardware issue. I unfortunately cannot test the hypothesis as I handed in my phone to the MI service center today They said they'll let me know in a week so I'll keep y'all updated.
Lastly, I would like to add that this is my first flagship phone, I normally used midrange smartphones but this time I thought I'd get something stronger and to be fair I kind of regret going for this phone specifically because of this issue.
The device itself looks great, runs smoothly, has a fantastic display and the fast charging is out of this world, the fact that I got a free 80W wireless charger too makes it even more spectacular, it is a good phone.
However, this does not excuse the fact that it broke down less than a year from my buying it (I got it last August) and a good phone is as good as the experience it provides and recently, the MIUI 13 barebone update put a bitter taste in my mouth considering how incomplete it is, coupled with this catastrophic hardware failure, I cannot in good conscience recommend that anybody goes for a flagship phone from Xiaomi anytime soon.
Had this been a singular individual error, I could have chalked it down to a manufacturing issue with my particular unit which is excusable, but ever since I posted, I've done some research and a LOT of people have had this issue which means its negligence on Xiaomi's part to conduct a proper QC/QA testing before rolling out their devices and such laziness cannot be excused. Here's hoping I'll get my unit back soon
Had the same exact issue last week.. Wifi has been working fine for a year, and then all of a sudden it won't turn on.. Sent it to repair.. Hopefully I get a new device.
Okay, so I got my device back today, they had to change the entire board, the Wi-Fi is now functioning again. It is unfortunate that it broke down in the first place but at least they fixed it rather quickly. Hopefully it wont break down again in a few months time @[email protected]

Let's hope so but I would say that if when it is in idle, cooled and with only wifi turned on and the temps aren't above 34/35C then it should be fine
after install the last stable version of xiaomi.eu rom(xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11_V13.0.8.0.SKBCNXM) on my mi 11, Wi-Fi stoped to work after a day and Bluetooth and 4g/5g not working proprielly anymore. I reed about the hight heat of sd888 burning the Wi-Fi modem of mi 11 in Internet. Anyaway, I already buy another smartphone...
@hhwjthje , a new owner here. Would you please clarify what you meant by bluetooth voice. Couldn't find that on @M.Walaa screenshot and we know he had the fried module. I also don't seem to have a position for bluetooth voice.
Also not sure why you think idle temps matter, when it's clear prolonged load temps is what's causing the damage.
Had the same issue. Suddenly the WiFi stopped working after around 10 months of use. I am from Bangladesh and no-one can possibly fix this issue in here. Contacted the seller and they asked me to wait until Chinese borders fully opens. They will send the unit to China. I have been a big Xiaomi fan but the experience I am having with Mi11 is disastrous.

Last weekend I went on a bit of a trip visiting 2 cities and was expecting to use the N5 as GPS (navigating trough the cities), camera and media player. I am sorry to report that it failed miserably..
First was the camera : all was well until i got the "cannot connect to camera" dialog and had to reset the phone missing the moment to be captured. If it were a one time event I could have over looked it but it happened about 5 times in 3 days. I didn't use HDR or other camera apps, just the stock camera taking normal photos/videos.
Secondly, (related to the camera) the mm-qcamera daemon drained my battery like crazy so i was always charging the phone and took a survival attitude towards it (2g, no data, no wifi, minimum brightness) negating it's smartphone capabilities as much as possible.
Lastly, and most infuriating, the GPS just didn't work. I had an internet connection (chrome and facebook worked just fine) but it just wouldn't load the map nevermind driving/walking directions.
To top all this, my friends Galaxy Ysomething with gingerbread performed flawlessly all of the above. Needless to say that after this none of the group will ever consider a N5 as their phone.
Sorry for the vent/rant but it can't be all roses..
Wow... All of those points to a defective unit.
Trust me, this phone is better than your friends smartphone

i have no issues with GPS or the camera and I take about 5-20 pictures every day. maybe you can try using a custom rom or maybe you have a defective unit. i would contact google for a return if you are able to
Just flash a custom rom. Bet all your issues are gone.

Not sure I experienced any issues.. but mind you, once I opened the box, turned it on and rooted the phone and installed a custom rom... lol...
Stock Pure Google experience.. never tried it.. :cyclops:
considering i have never experienced the camera issue once since me and my wife have owned the phone, his experience is a isolated one.
1 of 2 things happened to cause his issue:
1) hardware failure, which is beyond anyone's control
2) he modded his phone and broke something, which can be fixed by going back to stock (or should be anyways)
I would return it in a heartbeat! That is unacceptable for any device and those are each large enough issues to cause concern. I have been an android fan since I first held one some years ago. Every effort towards modding in the past has been to attain a pure stock, nexus-like experience. I purchased to N5 to stop chasing that dragon and honestly...it has been somewhat disappointing. Constant drain from com.chrome.sanbox, camera daemon running constantly and horrible audio. I have rooted and flashed away many things, but always at the expense of stability or another feature that I favored. Google needs to get their sh1t together. This is a great device, no doubt, but there are too many little problems that en up adding to a major PIA considering that this phone comes straight from the folks who makes the OS that we all love. I understand your frustrations OP, that is unacceptable. I would return it, like others have stated. That's too crap going wrong on a singular trip to be considered just a glitch. I love my N5, but it is ridiculous to overlook glaring flaws simply because it's a Nexus.
GPS should work very great though. I drain maybe 10 percent in an hour with it running, and it locks in less than a second for me...

What a coincidence that his camera, battery drain and GPS issue occur all around the same time. You maybe right about the software issue but I was replying with the assumption that the OP is running stock..so my bad. However, I've got a bad GPS reception, it barely connects and I've tried on both stock and custom kernels. I can't RMA or service it through warranty since I got it from abroad.
well, I've had my Nexus 5 for a few months, and I use it constantly. The camera has never given me a single issue, and neither has the GPS. I use the GPS quite frequently, as I recently moved to a new province, and don't know the area.
I've also used my Nexus 5 while traveling(between Alberta, Canada and Nova Scotia, Canada with many stopovers in between) and not one issue.
I can't speak for stock, as I flashed CM11 the moment I got my phone, but I use what's listed in my signature. I highly recommend those. A few times, there's been issues with the Chaos kernel, but not for several months now.
I'd definitely say give custom roms a try. But if that doesn't fix it, revert to stock and return the phone right away if possible.
I found the phone simply excellent when I was traveling around London, GPS camera and battery all good.
Sounds like you have a faulty phone.

Unable to RMA it since a friend of a friend bought it for me from Germany (I am from Romania). I just uninstalled Skype and will keep an eye on the camera. For the GPS problem I have no clue since not even network location is working in maps... I have weather apps and they figure my location just fine.
I am running stock unlocked with twrp. I will try out some roms eventually..
Will my local lg vendor be able to do something about a defective phone ?

The last time I saw the "cannot connect to camera" message was on my Xperia Play, which had a faulty connection with the front facing camera. I've never once seen it on my Nexus 5. That one definitely points to a faulty unit.
Camera battery drain, apparently this is a known issue, although I personally haven't experienced any issues.
GPS issues...I don't ever 100% rely on any GPS device..way too much room for error. That said, I used the GPS on my N5 last week to pinpoint my location on the map to help me find the house I was delivering to. Worked as smoothly as it could. Maps was open, I turned on GPS, boom, the blue dot told me where I was, good times were had by all.

Writing off an entire type of phone based on one bad experience with a phone he didn't even try to replace to see if the problems were commonplace is ridiculous. I agree. While I understand their frustrations, it is pretty dumb to say that no one in the group will ever buy a Nexus 5 because of one phone had issues. Umm, ok? Does any phone from any manufacturer have a 100% fault free track record? I'll save you the google, the answer is no.
I also have n5 since it was released, rooted and on stock with latest updates since 3/18/2014. I had note 2 before and I gotta say I miss it. For 2 main reasons, multi function and battery. I think I will sell this with next note release. Yes you get latest updates but when you are rooted I'd rather not have the latest updates.

The battery drain comes from a very real bug concerning how Skype interfaces with your device's camera. Google has even come out and said it's a major problem (after doing their own internal stress test and finding it to be a real bug). They are likely to fix it, but here is more information for you about it: http://phandroid.com/2014/03/04/and...ogle-fix-arriving-in-a-future-android-update/
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that specific part (the GPS and Camera malfunction, I cannot speak to) is just your device. People with stock Android and people on custom ROMs have also been experiencing it. I run Carbon and it still happens to me. That's why I keep Skype frozen or Greenified (a better solution) unless I need it. Of course, that's a pretty bad workaround, especially if you pay for Skype calling or need to be online for messaging.
I hope it works out for you. Also, I can't quite claim to know for sure, but the warranty is not tied to the original purchaser, it's tied to the serial number on the device. My brother purchased two Nexus 5s (to ensure we both got one) and before I could do my first RMA, I had to ask them to swap the Google account over to my Google account.
That was it. I don't know how the warranty system works in Romania or Germany, but don't rule it out yet!
EDIT: To follow up with the warranty process, it should not matter what country you are currently in, the warranty will follow the laws set down by the country of purchase. If you do need to do an RMA, they will ship you a new one (overnight if needed) and ask that you ship them back the old phone within x number of days or else you'll be charged full retail.
If you have questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask. Everyone deserves to have a great phone.
Will look into RMA-ing it since i have a first batch (ordered 2 weeks after launch) and some complain of poor audio on their side.. The problem is that i cannot access the device playstore from my country..
Any ideas are appreciated.
The camera issue could be caused by insufficient ram at the time of operation. U sound like u wanted to do a lot of things with it on ur trip, it could've possibly ran out of ram at the time and thus couldn't load the camera. I had the exact same problem with my galaxy s3, clearing apps with an app manager fixed the problem (I used system panel). However the n5 handles ram extremely well, never have I once been Over 1.2gb used and I use it vigorously with no ram or task manager app. Kit Kat is just awesome.

Yes your thread is vague and honestly simply go through the forum and see the threads of people complaining. Not sure why you would create a new thread for this or make it more specific. IJS
First off no need to be rude. Second I'm not sure why you care so much about a question I asked must be keeping you up at night so I apologize for that...... I was talking about the using the phone for a few days and it becoming a brick like several international versions are experiencing. But thanks for showing me how rude everyone can be at 8:50am...
Probably quiet few people on t-mo forum don't frequent international forum, myself included, so may not be aware of specific issues there, so lets all come down and have intelligent conversation, since IMO OP question is legit as long as it is properly explained. Sooo, as far as I know there were few complains about lagging, poor battery life and couple QC issues , which BTW none of them I experienced. Personally I have not seen any brick post on this forum, which is strange since we already have root and there is plenty of people who can't follow simple directions, sometimes myself included. Anyway I wouldn't worry too much, phone is on warranty and there will always be some quality control issues. Are you sure those are not user related, like trying to root without a clue, or taking underwater photography on your scuba dive? People don't always tell whole story. If you don't have N7 yet, wait until dust clears, if you do, just enjoy it, life's too short.

Exactly, no rudeness seen in this thread its just if you're going to ask a question at least have it make sense. With further explanation from other parties it seems we now may have a better understanding of what OP originally meant to say. :good:
It appears that the problem starts after the first OTA update samsung released from what I have read. I hope if Tmobile releases it, it will be a later build if infact the software is too blame. I'm usually first to update but I may play it safe and wait a day or so when it's released to us. And in regards to the user error in regards to the problem. The phone apparently will start to freeze and reboot and then get stuck in reboot cycles and when you attempt a factory reset in the OS or recovery the phone becomes unusable. Samsung isn't sure of its hardware or software yet. That's why I'm optimistic but cautious about ours.
Good to know, if that's the case we could postpone updates and see if any problems are reported. It wouldn't be first time updates create more problems than fixes. Few yrs ago I updated my Asus computer BIOS, despite reading other people having problem (I assumed user errors). It took me 1 week and $20 hardware just to boot up, never mind countless hours of Google search, the BIOS was completely hosed on certain hardware, which I happened to have. Never bricked the phone with updates yet, but more often than not, stuff stops working the way it should, so waiting few days may be best option. Love the phone, would hate to loose it even for few days.
Well samsung had stopped shipping the note 7 due to them needing more "quality control testing" havent said why yet or what markets they are delayed in.
The article I read said Samsung stops shipping in Korea, no official reason given, except better QC, so everything else could be speculation which for now seems to point to battery as culprit. My phone gets pretty hot, when on fast charge, so I disabled it for now. But I'm thinking if the connection is not perfect, it could cause problems. I think the phone is charging at something over 10 Watts, my soldering iron is 30W.
i've been very happy with my note 7 so far. i luckily havent come across any of the issues some other ppl in this forum have. i did read about the international note 7 bricking randomly and not being able to factory restore it. but there havent been any reports of the qualcomm version doing that. so the exynos is faster and less lag but there's a chance of a random brick and the qualcomm doesnt brick but many complaints about ui lag. seems samsung hasnt been able to get either right so far. it's definitely a QC issue because it's random units these things are happening to. every manufacturing process has some QC issues come up but they want to keep that below a certain percentage. this seems to be above that percentage.

Well i have 7 days to exchange in store before I need one shipped so I'm hopeful it will last haha. On the topic of lag I don't notice alot in fact I think it does alot of things faster then my s7 edge for example when I start up I can enter my pin right away my s7 edge didn't even register a keypress for quite a few seconds after it popped up. This I can get into the phone in no time.
I'm experiencing the below with my TMO | Onyx black | Made in China (apparently there are 3 countries making them, china, korea, vietnam)
Running hot for no reason
Poor battery life
UI lag
Poor touch screen sensitivity - 1 in 5 key presses when typing is lost and other various touch recognition drop outs
If it's running hot, very possible some software crashed and its looping. First thing I would do is restart, then check battery screen to see what using it the most, maybe download something like 3C toolbox for better picture. Just make sure you're not in some particular spot where reception is spotty and it constantly goes in and out of network or keep switching towers.
Well though it doesn't sound like ours will be part of it I just read that Samsung will be recalling the note 7 in several markets due to a faulty battery used during manufacturing. Though more information will be provided in the next few days from Samsung. http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/01/galaxy-note-7-recall-will-reportedly-be-announced-soon/
If the battery was the issue, it would be so much simpler on the older, non sealed models like S5, which was water proof and had easy battery access. All would they had to do is mail new batt. to customers. Maybe some good comes out of this, like easy to open back in the future.
The only issue i have had is with users stating there are issues. Out of all the Samsung phones i have had 10 plus this is by far the best.
Now appears that the recall will be global. And samsung is in talks with the carriers on how to go about returning and exchanging phones already sold. Never had to deal with a phone recall before.

I have had all of those issues on top of no signal for long periods and I just got the phone yesterday. I have had every Note except the 4 with none of these issues. Pretty disappointed.
I have been using P10 Plus (6/128 GB) for a day, and I am trying really hard to like it. I haven't found all the good/bad points yet but the list of bad things is already kind of outweighing the list of good things. Were my expectations really just too high?
These are really just my opinions, and you are free to disagree. Even I might change my mind if there are really good reasons to!
I might as well add that paid about $860 (in Norway) for my P10 Plus while Galaxy S8+ costs "slightly more" (about $1,000). I just feel like I got so little in return for the price I paid.
I have to decide by tomorrow anyway whether to keep this device or return it, and I am currently leaning towards returning it.
Thanks for any tips, advices, opinions, etc.
Good things:
Responsive fingerprint reader on the front side, unlocks screen pretty much instantly.
Has a nice shape (like an iPhone 7). No annoying sharp edges except at the bottom holes for connectors, where I support the device with my pinky finger.
Lots of camera settings.
My device luckily has UFS 2.1.
Pretty good WiFi speed (measured more than 200 Mbps during internet speed test).
The DAC's quality is okay (not very good). A little bit of noise when using my sensitive in-ear headphones, but it's very bearable. This is only a "good" point because it's an upgrade from my old phone.
Bad things:
I already found some sluggish menus on day one.
Somewhat bad performance when taking photos and shooting videos, even playing back videos I captured is somewhat choppy.
The device gets pretty hot during "normal" (in my opinion light) use, and really hot while charging and during "heavy" (in my opinion normal) use.
Seems like the battery drains more quickly than I expected as well (larger battery does not make it much or any better than P10) so that I still need to bring an extra battery with me if I intend to use mobile data and GPS.
The swiping on the fingerprint reader is a bit of a hit and miss because it might register a tap which means "back" (or exit).
Photos taken and saved as JPEG look bad. RAW images look quite a bit better but it takes seconds to save each image.
My GFXBench result is pretty bad compared to other devices.
Nitpicking:
The edge of the screen protector is so annoying I want to take it off. Note: If you do it, you might want to apply oleophobic coating.
I wish the fingerprint sensor indentation was a bit less deep, because it makes the swiping motion feel less comfortable. The screen protector is probably most of the reason though.
I was never able to transfer app data (only apps themselves) from my old device using any method suggested by Huawei. The thing that did work was a backup/restore using adb.
USB 2 is pretty slow after getting used to USB 3.
The device sometimes thinks that I am using a knuckle gesture when I am using the tip of my finger.
sometimes very laggy also. And some apps not compatible with the camera.
Turns out that I am stuck with this device due to the shop's no-return policy on phones. I might as well begin training my mind to like the device. Won't feel guilty about rooting and trying custom ROMs now either.
@patriotzhou I think after a couple days, I am noticing the stuttering less for some reason..

I have been using P10 Plus (6/128 GB) for a day, and I am trying really hard to like it. I haven't found all the good/bad points yet but the list of bad things is already kind of outweighing the list of good things. Were my expectations really just too high?

Pretty much this phone is unusable due these 2 things, battery life is poor as AF, and from my perspective, Huawei messed up EMUI 5.1 really hard.
Probably an update would fix it, but we don't have ETA yet.
I will return back the P10 Plus because I think is not worth it, and I will buy a Mate 9 Pro that is virtually the same device, but battery life is so much better.
@nougn Which firmware are you on? In terms of battery life the phone may not be the best, but from my experience its also not bad either. 6 hours DOT should be possible unless you are a heavy gamer. However what you said about the device getting hot that does sound like it may have faulty hardware, I'd be careful with that. You should grab an app monitoring CPU and battery temperatures. If you come to the conclusion that the device is getting warmer than it should I'd contact Huawei on the matter. What I find most bizarre is that you say the performance is laggy at times, I never experienced even just the slightest lag no matter what I do, it is smooth as silk in every situation. Maybe another indication for faulty hardware.......? On a side note: the price you paid seems really high, a lot of commercial seller on ebay offer it for a lot less than that... but anyhow if you really wanted to get rid of the device you could always sell it on ebay or something, no? So you're never actually "stuck" with a device

This device always works in high temperatures, and is really easy for it to get hot. Use the camera more than 3 minutes and it will start to feel uncomfortable on hand.
I had the same experience, poor battery life and device most of the time hot. I checked the temperatures and is around 30°C on stand by, and after some minutes of WhatsApp and news, it was reaching 40°C, which is not normal at all, when my previous phone was around 18°C on stand by and 25°C in normal usage.
I'm used to stick with cold devices and is one of the first things I noticed when I used this device, and is a pretty common problem among many users. Most of the people would say that is only "warm", but I had the Mate 9 as well, with the same specs, and trust me, it was an ice cube the whole time.

One has to keep in mind though that temperatures like that are impossible to reach in summer (unless its a very cold summer), the device can never be cooler than the air surrounding it

Well, I'm talking about my room, which has air conditioning, and I just bought the P10 Plus and today I returned it back.
Problem solved, I got my money back, and I'm trying to see which phone to get, but pretty much I don' t like what I see in the market now.

The standby drain is crazy and as you said the phone gets really hot when using the camera more than a few minutes.
Also one more problem is when the phone reach certain temperature the wide aperture effect in the gallery will stop working..
It's a pity since I like this phone in many ways and the camera is great.
But if Huawei don't fix it (very) soon i may be "forced" to sell it and get another one..
Almost regret that I sold my old Mate 8..

Today I returned my P10 Plus, for me there's no excuse to pay so much for a phone that has basic problems.
I will see if I get a Mate 9 Pro or any other phone, but I'm kind of picky when getting a new device.

Thank you for your advices! The current version is VKY-L29C432B150 (latest).
Sorry for the late response. I have been traveling for the past few days.
I decided to bring this phone with me on vacation to Japan where it is currently very humid and it feels like 33+ degrees C (91+ degrees F) in the sun. Trying to use mobile data, GPS and Google Maps is not exactly pleasant for my hand. The worst part is trying to take some photos because the device's temperature gets uncomfortably high for my hand. Will try to measure the temperatures next time I go out!
I am also really glad that I brought an extra battery, although the output of the extra battery (per port) is just enough (2.4A) to keep the device's battery percentage stable while using mobile data and GPS (goes up when idle).
I also guessed hardware defect, but it now seems like I am not the only one with problems. I really hope that Huawei can fix some things in the software, including the heat issue.

You should post your experiences in the battery thread, so it could have more visibility and people can start to acknowledge this, would be really nice from you to do it.

Different screens
The P10 plus has a IPS LCD screen
The Mate 9 pro has a AMO-LED screen
maybe that adds to the difference in SOT for the two Huawei devices...

That's how you choose to read my post - but not what I wrote, IMHO
My point is to raise awareness about the different screen technologies, because I've seen more than one comparison where the two devices are said to use the same screen (probably because of same size and res.), but that is plain WRONG!

I understand your point, but still having AMOLED display means nothing in 2017. You can see the HTC U11 with LCD and has pretty goddamn battery life. You can have the normal Mate 9 with IPS and also has a really nice battery life. Right now screen technologies are really mature and it doesn't influence much (or at all) what kind is on a phone.
@Galaxo60
Point taken
Came from S8, I used it for a couple of months and now Im using P10 Plus.
Im more than happy now with P10+.
I have had my P10 Plus for about 2 months now and I can tell you I get around 5 hours of SOT with 1-2 of gaming. The battery stays at 100% for about 15 minutes regardless what I do and then begins to drop. Somehow form 70% downwards it starts to really slow its discharge rate. You might worry about this but the honest truth is that I can make it at the end of each day (around midnight) with around 15-20% battery left. For me this is more than enough as I recharge my phone every night.
I would suggest you stop worrying about your phone dying on you and just start using it. Also use Phone Manager once a day and you'll be good to go.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
So i have plan purchase used 3T. Coming from Samsung S5 G900F with CrDroid Rom.
1. What famous hardware issue on 3T? (Shadow LCD? Bleading LCD? or etc)
2. What CODE to check all 3T feature? (Wifi, BT, Sound, etc)
3. How to check battery condition on 3T?
(i have experience on Oneplus One device that has faulty battery)
Regards
RR
For me the main issue of this device is that it has no issues.
My only issue with this device is the battery that had severely decreased capacity within a year.
But a new battery was around 20€ from a local online store, and the install of said battery was very easy.
Other than that I am still very happy with the OP3T and I hope to have it last at least another 1,5 - 2 years.

Can you send me a link to store?
I'm not aware of any prevalent or common hardware issues on this device. I've had the phone since Feb 2017, not a single issue; and still love using this device daily. That said, hardware failures are going to be more probable as the device gets older. But that is probably obvious.
Some folks haven't been too happy with the camera. But it's less of an "issue" (such as a malfunction or defect) as it is just a limitation of the camera module which OnePlus selected. Which is a function of the cost of that module, and therefore the resulting price of the phone. Folks who complain, are usually comparing it to a device from the same time frame, that costs twice as much (Galaxy S, iPhone, etc.). The camera works just fine for most of my normal usage. A little blurry in lower light, but you can get better lower light pics by installing Google camera mod.
Overall, for performance for the price, the 3T was hard to beat in its heyday. And that statement is still largely true today.
The only issue I have with the 3T is that my focus sensor on the camera isn't working as it should, most of the time the image is very blurry.
Beside that I'm more than happy with the device by every term ( battery, speed, the camera when it used to work, and charging speed).
buy the phone and buy a camera module doesn't cost too much
because there is a camera focus problem with many 3t or 3 device
the phone is great

So there are no major issue on this device... awesome....
what code when we want check Hardware Test on stock firmware?
@Rvl7 i don't think there is a code that you want on oneplus but you can download phone test app from playstore there are many
The only hardware issue I've had is failing bluetooth. It fails to turn on, after a reboot it comes back for about about 24hrs then needs another reboot to keep it on. Phone always been up to date with stable Oxygen, and factory reset doesn't help.
Once the 6T is out I'll upgrade and send the 3T back for warranty repair and sell on.
Hello fellow nerds,
I bought a Xiaomi Mi 8 global 1.5 years ago. I was pretty sastisfied with it until a few days ago it suddenly started to behave very strangely. The problems are similar to some earlier posts in this forum: random lost of WIFI and cellular connection as well as random restarts. I tried out the following steps to solve this problem, but nothing worked for me:
1) Waiting patiently until the problem solves itself
2) Hard-Reset
3) Flashing new Firmware using XiaoMiTool V2
4) Flashing new Firmware using Fastboot
Does anyone have another idea what I could try out? I really don't want to buy a new phone as the Mi 8 fulfilled all my needs. If it's a hardware issue, is it possible to fix it on my own? I already have experience in opening phones and replacing parts of phones of other brands.
Thanks a lot!
it looks like we are all having the same problem.
I am having the same issue too!

Friend, if you already have experience disassembling the Xiaomi mi 8, I recommend that you disassemble the motherboard, remove the processor shield, clean the thermal paste that comes from the factory and place a 1mm thick thermal pad, replace the shield that you removed and replace Another thermal pad between the shield and the aluminum base of the display so that when you place the rest and fasten the screws, exert a slight pressure on the SoC of the processor, I tell you from my own experience, since my Xiaomi had the same problem and with I solved that, I already have 3 months without any failure and that I use my xiaomi intensively to play and watch movies

I first thought that the baseband problem was due to software, I tried everything original and custom and none solved it, another suggestion was to edit the NV file, it didn't work either, I tried restoring persist and it didn't work either, then I realized that the cell phone was heating up a lot and I thought it could be a problem with the wifi IC (Integrated Circuit), but inspecting and measuring with a tester I did not see or find anything strange, so I decided to disassemble and reassemble the wifi and there it worked for 2 or 3 days, one Once there I realized that it worked because when lowering and re-soldering the wifi hot air reached the SoC and there it worked, then 2 heating pads not mainly for heating but rather so that once armed it exerts a slight pressure on the SoC already that the baseband is integrated and if it does not make good contact with the welds, the problem of random reboots occurs and we are left without IMEI, that is, without, wifi, Bluetooth and GPS
it is not hardware problem, i think the bug is something regarding to region, "find device", google service or android 10.
xiaomi must fix it by update. it is a software bug.
the update 11.0.5.0 with android 10 is full of bugs.

My question is, do you think or are you sure that the problem is software?
if it is software we all would like to know how to fix it, because in my experience testing with android 9, android 10 With miui.eu and miui global with both I had the same problem until I apply heat to the SoC and a heating pad, since then I have not had not a single reboot or problem with WiFi or SIM card
not sure, your problem could be different one
sharing my experience...
- I have a 2 years old Mi 8 (was 64GB),
- for a few monthes - got a lot of calls disconnected because of no reception.
- one day all of a sudden - lost all reception ("no sim" icon), no wifi networks show, device lagging and rebooting every few minutes.
- I have 2 years warranty here, and it was the last week of warranty - so i went to the official repair place.
- after a few hours - they called me to say that the Motherboard was defective - and they're replacing it (for free of course).
(BTW, they didn't have 64GB motherboard - so they gave me 128GB motherboard)
- since then - signal okay, device okay, wifi okay.
- losing signal a lot - but maybe it's because of my work (a lot of driving every day, server rooms underground or with concrete walls, and so on...)
- even though my work is as described - i don't remember having reception issues when the phone was new (maybe changes in the carrier? cannot know...)
sorry for you that it might be hardware - that's what solved it for me.
Good luck.

I totally agree with you sir, it is a hardware problem, I do not know if it is programmed obsolescence, but what I am clear about is that I am tired of buying equipment with the same problems in the soldering of the SoC, the same thing happened to me with the LG G3, LG G4, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P
I have the same problem and i don't know that to do
how to fix that?

The most advisable thing would be that you take it to a technical service so that they do a "rework" to the SoC "CPU" since that is where the baseband is located

how your mi 8 now? i mean after you did what you said, like change thermal pad, it still works good?

I am having this issue but with my Zenfone 6 (2019) from Asus, it loses connection with wifi and sim also system crashes forcing shutdown. I've seen similar posts about Xiaomi's devices, but I'm still confused about the issue. So the problem is related to a hardware issue right? Is the Xiaomi's issue could be related to mine?
