Hi guys, I really hope this is the right thread.
So I recently received a kindle fire 1st generation (model no: D01400) and they did something to it since I have to re-register it and reload all the books constantly, I cannot update it and the serial is 0000 0000 0000 0000. It has been years since I rooted and unrooted anything so if anyone of you could help me and guide me through to get it back to its original state I would really appreciate it. I couldn't see TWRP installed and I don't see any sign of android being on it either.
I know it is old but with the prices of kindles here in Turkey I really would like to use it just for reading.
Please, anyone who can help a lady in distress?

I got my Touch Diamond in Hong Kong nearly 2 weeks ago, but have so far been able to register it on the HTC website.
(I am aware that some people have been able to register, but that is not the problem I need help with)
On Saturday the maid in my serviced apartment came in and threw away the cardboard box which surrounds the main plastic box.
I know there were various serial numbers or part numbers listed there, but I can't remember exactly which they were.
Could someone please check their box and tell me what they are? I'm trying to figure out if I have lost anything important.
The phone itself has IMEI, S/N and P/N shown behind the battery.
Hopefully that is all I will ever need.
Many thanks
As long as you have your IMEI number and phone serial number...that will be all you need should you have a problem with the phone and need it to be repaired.
my friends previous G1 met with with an unfortunate end so i helped her go to craigslist to find another one to replace it. the one she bought had a signal for all of about a minute (enough to enter her gmail info to register it the phone) she made 1 call to make sure that it was capable of performing that and paid. btw the call dropped but she didn't think anything of it. ever since that point shes had ZERO signal except one point after which it completely disappeared. she's not all that technical and i live in a different state plus i'm not too familiar with the android side of the house.
i know that she hasn't tried to flash a new anything but i don't know about the previous owner so i what i'm asking is, is there anything he could have done to the phone that would leave it in perfect working order (wifi/bt/os boots) but only affect the cellular radio? and if so is there anyway to fix it? push comes to shove i'll have her mail me the phone and i'll do all the flashing or whatever it needs.
i'm not sure what all info you'd need but i had her go into the bootloader and send me the info that appears at the bottom of the screen.

let me know else you need and if there's a way to bypass the login screen (i searched)
please, any help would be appreciated.
hi.
what you meant by bypass the login screen?
Is it the signing in of gmail account?
Well something may be wrong with the radio (hopefully the software one)
A potential fix would be to reflash the ROM which has the updated radio following the instructions here
However flash the Cupcake update as that has the actual radio update located here.
If that doesn't work or it wont let you, you *MAY* have to root. (PM me if you need a little more help/clarification
Hi guys,
I've just bought a second 8" 2016 model from ebay, unfortunately it had the google device protection enabled asking for the last used account login.
Instantly I thought the device was stolen but the seller has been very helpful and shown me the original receipt to prove he bought it.
He changed his password so that he could share his details with me and now it won't let us login to the device at all, it keeps saying use an account that has been used before on the device.
Does this mean that we're now in the 72 hour lock-down period because he changed his password, or is this a more serious problem?
I've tried a couple of the tricks to bypass this lock but neither of them work, I presume this has been fixed in android 6. e.g. the OTG workaround.
I'd appreciate any reassurance you can provide?
Cheers,
Andy
Hi all, I'm happy to be rejoining the world of rootable phones when my 4XL arrives today! It's been a while and I miss it, happy to be back.
I'm assuming it does, but I'd love to confirm with someone who tried -- does anyone know if you can still change the cryptfs password to disconnect it from the lockscreen password? It's described in this article: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-manually-change-your-android-encryption-password/.
HELLO! This is my first XDA post, although I've known about it for many years, I never bothered to Log-in and at least participate in the comments part as I always had problems with the login part, finally managed somehow to get into my account.
Anyways, I recently encountered a strange problem with my phone, after about 1 year of use on the same network carrier and after an upgrade from stock rom to Lineage 7.2, and about 5-6 months of working perfectly fine, yesterday after a shutdown due to low battery, my phone started to ask for a Network Unlock Pin and made my phone unusable since I don't have signal and it sometimes shows that my SIM is missing.
I tried installing a new Rom because I thought it would fix it but it didn't, so I was wondering if anyone here has an idea what might have caused it and how to fix this ?! Would really appreciate any kind of help, since I still love my Mini and wouldn't wanna quit on it, Thanks !!
My current plan is to go back to the original Firmware, I'll see what I can find on the internet.
