Hi all,
As the title suggests, please post your screen shots of your max SOT and I'll update the leaderboard with the top 10.
I'll post my max to set it off, bare in mind please, this is only for normal usage not for leaving your phone plugged in all day with reading mode on, this is only for real world usage.
Averages are about 8 hours on the OnePlus 5 but some average a lot higher, myself I normally get between 8-10 hours however on occasion (usually when on the internet researching ) I'll crank up some crazy SOT, my highest being what I'll post below.
***NOTE***
To qualify, post your battery meter showing depletion and a long screen grab of your stats from the stock battery monitor, also post your ROM and version as well as your kernel and version, as i'll show below.
No cheating.
If you want to drop your BBS stat file then please feel free although it's not needed to register your SOT score. Personally i don't give two hoots about this, it's complete overkill so don't feel obliged to record it.

Well sir, that is stupidly good.
Well played.
Have to say I've got the p20 pro with a 4,000Mah battery, can't come close to the 1+5.
That being said, I completely believe you but without proper proof it's a little hollow..
I'll put you up for now but will need a repeat.
What ROM, kernel??
How do you guys manage to get such high SOT? Talking specifically to @dladz, have you selected anything in particular while installing xXx like those features in AROMA to enhance battery?

No not really, i've not got this phone anymore i've just sold it but the settings are pretty much stock.
Turn off gestures, live widgets.
i only have one page on the pixel launcher.
No apps with ads in them, 1 gmail account nothing else, no facebook, no viber / skype / work email / snap chat
I only use whatsapp and twitter now and again.
4G, Wifi, location i always leave on.
No google photos, no automatic updates, no bloat unless what i need.
Auto brightness on, Stock kernel, No xposed, Black theme.
No antivirus, no back up facility, tweaked google to not collect so much data, deny most apps location unless required.
No overclocks or underclocks, no CPU / GPU governor client.
basically just lighten the load as much as possible, bare in mind that i don't always get 14 hours, i mean that's insane, i was doing a lot of reading online that day and it just clocked up the hours, i was amazed when it went past 10 hours with around 20-30% left.
Your battery is going to depend on your usage and your apps.

What are you using now? I bought a pixel 2 xl and had to return it to the original seller. The pixel 2 xl software is amazing but the hardware is trash. Build quality isnt worth that premium price everyone paid for when it first released.

It's in my signature, the P20 Pro, it's a pretty special device tbh.
Camera, battery, screen, performance is all amazing.
The only problem is the development lol it's a little light on ROMs, although the stock image once you're rooted is actually very good, I can change any aspect of the ROM and I'm completely fine with it
The only problem I've got is with the variants (models) available in the world, there's so many of them and lastly Huawei have decided to stop allowing bootloader unlocking which for many is a deal breaker, it hasn't happened yet but it will in the coming weeks
As I've already unlocked mine its ok.
My colleague in work has the pixel 2 which he loves, camera is excellent, plus I'm guessing the development scene is pretty strong, I'm not a fan of their design though.

Yep, it's not bad, just sold my 1+5 on Swappa for $340, tbh it's in great condition it's been my favourite phone up til now by some way, the only thing that ever bugged me was the lack of OIS which when you go back to a phone that has it like the p20 pro and even my previous device (HTC 10) you realise how important it really is.
Beyond that the OnePlus 5 is for me still their best device, reason being is the battery Vs screen size /Res, the 5T had a higher resolution and larger, the 6 I think even higher and even larger, yet the battery is the same so the SOT's you're seeing here just won't be possible, not even close.
I know the 845 is meant to be even more efficient but it's not going to be enough to compete here, unfortunately.

Ah glad you found something you like. As much as I like my OnePlus 5 I feel like I need an upgrade as well. It's a solid phone in my honest opinion. I'm looking into the V30! I've heard a lot of positive input about it (except for the FFC). I don't take selfies much so that might not be deal break for me.

I've never had an LG phone, but i've seen my colleagues disappointment after the novelty of the camera wore off, it's the UI it's just not great tbh.
But it's up to you man
Oh well, compared to you guys 11 hours I didn't get all that high but still very impressed as i did use Google Maps navigation for quite a while and YouTube for 5 hours.. It managed 7 hours and 58 minutes with 4% left. Could easily go 8h+.
This is done on stock latest AEX (Aosp Extended) with a amoled friendly theme .
Are people noticing any improvement or worsening?
It's been a lot better for me
Battery life for me is ok, with the official installed for the last 4 days. I'm upto 6 hrs sot on my usage and intend to leave it on charge overnight to complete any optimisations that may have not been done.
The call screen number flashing bug is still there though, but no other issues for me as yet.
i dont know guys... its lottery? i went down from 7h SOT to 2h... i did full wipe ect... i heard a lot of people that said it its better for them with battery and a lot of people saying its even worse than oreo

I'm having about the same batt life as I had with Oreo, but I've upgraded to Pie 2 days ago, so I'm hoping it will get better in about a week when the OS settles down and I'm done with setting it up. I've always had the idea that after a major OS upgrade, it keeps doing a lot of things in the background, making it use more battery than expected. For iOS this is even verified by Apple, but I don't know about Android.
Im used pie for about 2 weeks now.
For me, battery usage for idle is better, im got better standby time than oreo, but once im start using it, it drop faster than oreo. Phone also feel little more hot than on oreo.
Im got battery leakage last 2 days and then i realised that putting video wallpaper on lockscreen eat the battery alive even screen is turn off.. Its just still played in background.
Im got constant 6 and half hour of SOT on pie and 7 hour SOT on oreo (from 100 to 20%) of my battery. I
Im not heavy user, just used chrome and facebook only. No games.
So far, phone is more responsive on pie but never been lack on oreo.
However, im monitor my battery charge capacity with Aida64, im got 3139 mAh on pie and 3220-3298 on oreo. Its seems its limit to 3139 only now for my phone.
By the way, im used Note8 with exynos processor.
Pretty much the same as on Oreo on my N950N running Pie.
Note 8 battery much better with pie...... Verizon
I was expecting the same like for years new update new battery drain. This is the best a battery has ever done. I use my phone alot I have stopped background data for the battery hungry apps. With device care. I set it to see a week at a time. I only done this with Facebook and messenger and chrome. Even before it's been great for me I hope that all of you get better battery life. I know it's hard to do things when you have tug battery charger.
Pie is a joke don't update you will thank me
oreo it's a lot better, but i use custom kernel on pie, "phantom kernel" and my battery life it's a lot better even better than oreo with stock kernel.
Not bad.
Some people here hating on pie, more power to you, but I've only had one minor bug with the sound "popping" in the "My Noise" app, turning off Wifi during use fixes it. Also, all the benefits such as Good Lock, Bixby Routines and dark mode more than make up for the one minor bug I have. FWIW I am on Sprint and Snapdragon model.
Curious. Considering updating soon. Need help manuals. OTA keeps saying "processing failed"

This post doesn't help much. Anyways, seems to be AUB7 with the March security update. Just performance improvements as well as camera improvements
Yes. Sorry! Good lock asked to re run it's optimizer. So far feels fine.
Actually I commented on the update for this version, as I prior had the note 20 ultra HK version (snapdragon dual sim) and it was notorious for not getting updated. Like ever. Was most frustrating. Glad to see the ultra does get the updates.

Yes is AUB7
because the SoC is completely different,Can't be compared
The kernel version number is still 20700993. It should be that the Exynos model has relatively large room for improvement and optimization. The Snapdragon model has limited room for improvement and optimization, but the initial performance is more stable than the Exynos model.
This is my long-term experience using two SoC versions of Samsung S series and Note series
However, the Exynos model encountered major problems. The optimization efficiency is improved and the speed of pushing updates will be faster than the Snapdragon model (except for the S20 / Note20 series of the Korean Snapdragon version)

I'm just curious as to what people who keep having bad battery life have running/installed in their phones. It very well could be an app problem, but I suppose that it could also just be a Exynos related problem - I just haven't seen any deeper detailed explanations of the problem.
Would you mind telling me a bit more so that I can get a full understanding of this battery usage issue? I have the SD888 version and this phone has the best battery of any device that I've ever had prior... Fill me in if you can. Thanks!

i just did a full reset for my phone, coz i heard that using smartwatch does affect the battery. i just will try anything for the moment.
ok so, the phone for me is super, i do not care about benchs or whatever, it does wat i ask and more except for battery it is draining fast. i get 5SOT when lucky, i have 5g on, 120hz, fhd, Bluetooth, sync, auto rotate, basically everything not gonna lie.
but i think anyone do the same, i have duel sims both on, i never connect to WiFi coz im always out.
am i being a whiner ? or should i get more than that?
i had an s20fe before and i think it used to last more.
the thing is i see battery draining once i use the device, like i see it lol
no heating tho or any other issues, i have package disabler on so anything useless i kill it asap.
wdyt?

Thanks for responding! Hmm, interesting. I can usually hit 5 hours SOT with 120hz and 1440P enabled, however, that only brings me to around 40-50% battery.
Maybe it's got something to do with that package disabler app. I don't have any potentially continuous background apps running on my phone and I also use Samsung's built-in battery options (sleep mode and deep sleep mode) for apps that I don't need/receive notifications from. Aside from that, the only other thing that I've done was remove almost all of the stock, built-in Samsung apps over ADB as I happen to use all Google apps (and doing so over ADB is the only reliable way to do so on Samsung devices).
Perhaps one or all of those things are what is helping me out - so give em' a try if you'd like to. But let me know how the phone reset works on your battery life! I hope that you can get it sorted out!

Hmmm , interesting .
I use package disabler coz it serves as the ADB method but this doesn't require a PC.
Might try that one as well.
So you only removed the srock apps, nothing out of ordinary?
Coz some lists asks to move too much which becomes weird.
Did the fresh install, awaiting a full charge to complete and will give it a test run.
Thank you mate, will update for sure.
Most of the battery drain for me is associated with the crazy google play services. I can't figure out why this service is draining on average 3.5% per day! I have tried every trick in the book but nothing seems to work

Hmm, interesting. I guess the package disabler app should work then. But yeah, I've only removed stock, Samsung apps that I could directly replace with Google apps (things like phone, messages, calendar, calculator, etc) - so nothing out of the ordinary. It just stinks that Samsung made it so that the user cannot disable those untouched apps in the settings like they can on most other phones... Regardless, I'm still hoping that your reset does the trick! But with that said, just remember to give the phone a few full charge uses prior to giving it a battery duration test (as it usually takes like 3-4 full battery uses for this phone to adapt to your usage).

I can only speak from *my* experience but running 5G/LTE almost continuously as opposed to Wifi would probably drop my battery life by at least 33-40%. This is from my experience with my Note 9 when travelling overseas and not having access to wifi. With my S21 ultra, since having it I have 80% of the time been on wifi.
Hi all,
As you know, I got this device a couple of weeks ago as a upgrade (birthday pressie).... and on the whole, I am might impressed with it. Compared to previous phones, this is awesome....
However, one odd thing I am experiencing... is battery life? Whilst I read reports of this device and the other I was looking at, Note 10 5G. Both had 5000mah batteries, and reviews RAVED about how good battery life is in them. Some even saying it can be used as a Battery Bank to charge other peoples phone.
However in actual use of the phone, I'm afraid to use it... for merely tapping a few icons, browsing web and running/opening camera... I literally am watching the percentages drain... I thought this thing would be rock solid, and can generally browse/mess around and the battery will slowly decrease...?
Don't get me wrong, if I don't touch it and leave it in standby it will claim to last at least a couple of days... or that said, running it as SatNav and not touching the screen on a 30min drive, it didn't drain the battery at all and stayed at 100% (which did surprise me).
But to me, what appears as light use, tapping icons and surfing around see's it draining fairly quickly. I dread to think if I was playing a high end game, it will prolly be gone in 5 mins.... Good job I don't do games... lol
Cheers, Lister
Morning Lister .. ya got your paddling pool ready for tomorrow lol
Mines been quite doing the same playing with gcam ( I haven't uploaded the XML yet , reming me to do it later ).
I have noticed the battery draining quicker when the screens set to 90mhz , as I've read elsewhere that seems quite normal as the phone has to refresh the screen faster than it would on 60 . Signal strength can be detrimental too , a bad signal means the phone tries harder to pull it in and uses more battery in the process .
When I've finally got everything set up I'll see how long I can get on a charge , still got to copy me 3 stooges collection on to it , all 65gb of it

Hi The Mero,
Oh don't, I am not a sun lover at the best of times and these last few days/week's been killing me... lol.
I am, as we speak, practicing my Snow Dance !!! ;-) LOL
Yeah, seems odd that a camera can zap that much battery. I get it has to do a couple of things, active viewfinder, take the pic and then use processing power to render the output. But after reading all the rave reviews, this battery will last you into the next pandemic and all that... It to me, just seems to drain a little too quickly for my liking. I was expecting to get some fun time, without watching the battery drain down...
I think this screen can only go to 90mhz, but that said... I even have my set to the standard 60mhz. I not really played around with it, but it seems quick enough for me at 60mhz and every bit of battery helps. Like being in a heatwave and keeping ya aircon off, whilst sitting at the traffic lights with windows open... Gotta save that fuel/battery... ;-) lol
I did look at battery drain, and Mobile Standby did seem high, which is odd as its never been an issue with my older phones in same location. I'll keep an eye on that though, cheers....

Hi The Mero,
I just noticed this thread pop up, which is similar thing... It seems a few are getting the high Cell Standby for no reason at all... Although they appear to be on the updated version...??
"Cell Standby" battery drain on latest MIUI Global 13.0.12?
Hi, everyone. I bought a Redmi Note 11 Global a few days back and while setting it up, I was amazed at the battery life. It was at 56% when I opened it up, and throughout the entire setup process and after around 5 or 6 hours of screen on time, I...

That said, I do have Calls over WiFi enabled, as it's the first time i've owned a phone that supports and is now available on my plan (PAYG lol). So I enabled it, just to try it out... lol
But apparently, this can be a zapper and cause the Cell Standby issue. Might try disabling it, and see if Battery Life improves....
Cheers, Lister
I'm on PAYG too , I turn off internet calling ( volte ) I had an issue on the X3 where you could hear the other person but they couldn't hear you . Some said it was a flaky mic and some said volte ( another name for it ) . Anyways I knocked it off and calls were fine after that . So if you start getting the same issue give that a try . Plus battery issues could be down to the CPU not behaving . Russian forum had some with the CPU stuck at full throttle while others were stuck at lowest speed . All using different miui versions or custom ROMs , this is getting worse every time we read about it
This phone is in need of a custom kernel. I think the default CPU/GPU governor is not properly optimised. We don't want the CPU to fire up all its cores and constantly hit 2.4Ghz while playing candy crush.
Also, MIUI 13 is so restrictive and bland. We are losing controls and features with each new update.
This amazing hardware needs a divorce from its retarded software.
some interesting reading .. miui updates
MIUI 13 Beta MI-V13.0.2 for Redmi Note 11 has been suspended due to a Google Play Server error

In my case, the amazing hardware broke up with its retarded software and is currently married to this chick named Pixel Experience. The experience is way way smooth and is something we and the hardware totally deserves. Though yes we really need a custom kernel, I don't know why Xiaomi hasn't released kernel sources for this device until now

Same here, unlocked bootloader and currently on Evolution X. Though all google apps and services are debloated so basically vanilla. I get 10 hrs screen on time with about 40 hrs standby
Hi All,
The battery on this device is really really shocking.... as in shockingly bad !!!
When I read about 5000mah ( basically double anything I've had prior ) and how good the reviews for battery life were on these devices. I had high hopes, I thought Id be able to tap away, causally wasting hours watching pointless YouTube and whatnot...
However here I am, re-arranging icons.... Configuring Applications (TruePhone and it's GAZZILION options), and watching the percentages just drop off, one by one by one.... I bet if I put a chocolate egg outside in this heatwave, it will melt at a slower rate than the battery drains...
Admittedly, I do have a few Apps on it... but no more than when I look at other peoples phones and it's not like I am putting heavy/tasking apps on. No gaming apps or anything like that... And to watch it go from 100 to 70 in what I think is a short time, is somewhat depressing...
I'll have to charge the ole 5000mah phone up and carry a couple 20,000mah at this rate... lol.
I've even de-bloated some of the system Apps in background... I may treat it to another wipe/reset and test it with barely any load and see what happens...
Cheers, Lister

I've had that issue on my Note 5 as well, and apparently I was not alone and it was in fact an issue that was introduced with Android 10. Turning off VoLTE did work for me, but that of course entailed a significantly worse call quality. I ended up switching to a different carrier and the problem went away. Sucks to see that the issue can still arise on current handsets.
I had a note 5 too , I can't remember if it did it or not, but I switched to a Moto g7 power and it did it on there too . I think your right about the network. I'm on 3 in the UK and never thought of the network being at fault , cheers for that

Because they don't want to and there's not really anything people can do about it.

Under GNU General Public License (GPL) it is mandatory to release a device's kernel source code if it is a modified version of the Linux kernel.

I know that they legally have to. But which user will sue them if they don't is what I'm saying.
Hi there 10 pro users
I don't know if you all noticed but i started with oos 13 a couple weeks ago without root i had it on QHD 120hz it was pretty good to use battery latest very long lasting and always 8 hours sot so that was pretty good to have until i started to root it again wanted to check out somethings but then the horror started couldn't reach no more the 8 hours sot it was reduced to 4 hours even heavy drains sometimes drops in Hz to 1 found out that it is found in there kernel source too they are trying to prevent root or this device needs a hell of a kernel dev who can fix all this or enjoy the device how you like and how you want too use it. And to be honest my opinion don't root it you will have more fun with your device since this is dead in development
I have posted some pictures below the one with 8 hours sot was before root the rest of the pictures after root
Hi, but there is a difference...
Your screen time is not the same, so the comparison is not valid.
I'm rooted and have not noticed a drain on the battery... I have heavily debloated though.
My apps list in battery doesn't show anything anymore but this is one charge.
I didn't just leave it with the screen on either lol. But have been reading a lot on chrome.

That's oos 12 and seems that you don't even use the device this is not your daily driver

Are you sure the one of 8 hours was the first time I had oos 13 installed even wiped it set it up with something's a few apps what ik using but after I wanted it too root found out that they want too prevent it so my CPU where locked and this only happens in oos 13 but in oos 12 I didn't had that much problems with root but still it's a heavy drainer device

Well you switched back so you know what I'm talking about but what did you debloated and what did you use to downgrade ?
But for now my battery is like this I have franco kernel manager running without root and setup with adb commands I have a drain right now of 0.90 but it doesn't seems to add up to my first 8 hours sot

It's subjective based on user, location, network, apps etc..
I've already advised in other threads what I've done in detail.
Rolling back AFAIK there is only one way and that's the rollback package found in the beta thread.
Debloat from the debloat thread.
I average 10 hours at least and I use my phone all day long 7am to midnight most days.

Same. I regularly only have to fully charge this device once a day. It'll last me easily from morning to night on a full charge with moderate use throughout the day. With added streaming / gaming on a lunch break, if I don't sometimes I can even get away with two work days (around 1.5 days) on a single charge.
The battery is definitely good, just need to use your system wisely, like with most tech. The fact that it charges to full in about 25 minutes is just gravy.

Yea mines about 2 days ish.. if I'm on citra or an emulator then sure it'll be a lot less but gaming on lunch will still see me through the day.
Charging is insane on this phone, not 100% if it's good for the battery or not.
Thermals for me were higher on oos13 hence why I switched back, I do prefer the look and feel of 13 but it annoyed me to have extra heat during gaming etc.
Haven't tested C.21 yet, but have heard good things.
Hi, I don't agree with the fact that root is draining battery. I am on oos13 since the first day of stable build and now on C21, rooted with xposed and 4 modules running and didn't noticied any différence with and without root. Maybe loosing a bit with xposed but I still managed to get 11h of sot (wifi and a lot of reading) and average 6h on mobile data. Also the phone is debloated.
@dladz i used to charge my phone with old 20w op3 block (no need of full speed, and trying to save battery life) but the few times I used the 80w I didnt noticied more heat on C21 than on oos12. But I don't use m'y phone while charging and always put it in airplane mode. If you want I can try some scénarios while charging and send you températures to compare

Just run a heavy emulator like Aetherx2 running lets say Tekken Tag Tournament..
I noticed C20 throttle but not A17.
I haven't noticed c,21 as I've never installed it... Fair bit of work to get back to how I like my phone.... Plus a few mods that don't work on 13 yet

Ok i will try it. By throtteling you are just looking if the phone start lagging or testing with an app like '' cpu throtteling test ''?
I know you were talking of c20, I was saying that just for you to have some data/feedback of c21 si you don't have to try it yourself, if I can help. But yes if some of your mods don't work on 13 I understand why you are staying with 12

Ah cheers man.. You'd don't have to do that, but I appreciate it..
Then again it'd be nice for you to get Aetherx2 running.. Reckon you'll like it..
Throttling as in the device getting hot then cycling down the CPU to save it from overheating.
I noticed the dips in performance plus the heat was substantially higher on 13 than 12 just from memory.
Maybe some other heavy games could emulate this test too
