Anyone else with a OP10 Pro that cannot navigate on the web because it cannot resolve dns ?
I'm on OxygenOS 13 NE2213_11_C.20 ?
it only get back to work after turning wifi off and then on again.
Already tried to reset network settings, but it keeps happening after 2h, sometimes even sooner.
First, you need to check whether the DNS is set correctly.
What is the current DNS server for your phone ?
Then check whether this is a DNS server issue, is your other devices suffering the same issue ?
I've checked that already, is only my phone. Changing DNS settings make it work again for some time and then it stops.
There is some issue, I'm gonna try to full reset the device again.
Are you using local DNS or Private DNS?

Private is disabled... Is just in DHCP mode. It started to happen from nowhere...
It's not a DNS fault. It loses the IP address... Already tested with others devices at the same time and it works fine.
Going back to c19 to test.
Had to go back to Android 12, was the only way to make this problem stop. Android 13 still have too many bugs.

I am trying to hook to a public WIFI at work. The only issue is it requires a specific proxy.
So here is what I do and see happening:
Before attaching to network, I go into Connections and set up the proxy server for 'My Work Network'.
Then I go in and set up the Wireless Settings, and for Connects to I select Work. It connects to the wireless, but when I go into IE it will not connect to anything.
So with the connection up, I go back Settings/Connections, and My Work Network has nothing in it for a proxy for HTTP. I add it and save it. But I still do not connect to anything in IE.
Oh, and one other thing: I don't see how to tell if I am getting DNS server settigns. I can see what my IP and Default router are, but not DNS. I doubt this is my problem, but would be nice to see if I have a DNS server.
Any ideas?
Well, it seems to have resolved. Not sure why.
I do still interest in knowing how to determine the DNS settings.
I spoke too soon.
It has disappeared again. I am finding it inconsistent. Will soft resets affect this?
I still interest in feedback on this.
Another bit of information I just thought of, in case anyone has any ideas...
The time it worked, it had the pop-up acking which network to hook to, and I just ignored it, and it hooked to the public one, and it worked. The times it doesn't work, it hooks to the public network, but the pop-up doesn't come up.
Hoping for some ideas here...
This is a problem with WM 6.0. It's has been fixed a little bit in 6.1, but instead of the settings disappearing IE doesn't use the proxy settings.
My suggestion for now, GIVE up trying to use the proxy settings.

I guess this means I cannot use WIFI if a Proxy is required, which on anything other than strictly public, it ususally is.
This is a nasty bug in WM6. You could "temporarily" resolve this by doing the following reg hack. (After set the Proxy in control panel/Connections)
HKLM\Comm\Connmgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4C98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\HTTP-{18AD9FBD-F716-ACB6-FD8A-1965DB98B814}
Set key "Type" as 1 (DWORD)
After doing the above hack, enter the Connections then exist without doing anything. (To refresh the system, I suppose.)
After the refresh, you should be able to have PIE access outside network.
However, as soon as your ActiveSync works (via Wifi or USB) or you sometimes you enter the Connections again, the setting will be gone (not stick) and you need to reapply.
Hope this works
Thanks. I guess I'll suffer w/o it at work. That's too much of a pain in the butt. I synch a lot all day long.
I appreciate the input.
I supposed I'll be in for a hard reset/new rom one of these days on a MS update. Sounds like 6.1 is still not solid for this either.
For the proxy and ip settings, please try to use use my wifi profiles.
Your wlan network must connect to work.

Cool. I'll give them a try, and post back how it goes. Thanks!

I've installed the WiFi Profiles and have posted my status in your thread here at post 54.
For anyone following this, I have not been successful. The proxy disappers even with the profiles mentioned above.
He had not heard of the bug that makes them disapper, and has not had such complaints before with his software. Interesting.
He is on a 6.1 rom, and I'm on 6.0.
At any rate...still suffering no proxy.
FYI...here is another thread on this topic. It has helped some it seems, but not me.
I just bought my Samsung galaxy S i9000 and the only problem i have is with the WI-fi,it works fine until i reset the router(just power on and off), then it starts doing obtaining "IP adress from..." and it wont connect ever again .The only option in this case is to reset the phone to factory setting and this is frustrating.
I noticed that if i turn off the wi-fi on the phone first and after that reset the router and then turn on again the wi-fi on the phone works. The problem is sometimes i forget turning it off from the phone or if a power cut happens it will do the same thing until reseted to the factory settings again and of course i lose all the applications.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Try to change the wi-fi name to something smaller. Also if you use password for the wi-fi try to deactivate it to see if it is the same problem.I feel that it has something to do with the decreption used in the router...maybe i m wrong..
I will try the password removal to see if the problem persists.
Nop, it doesn't work either way, i called a neighbor to come by with his nokia N8 and it seems to work fine for him.
By the way my IP changes every time if i power on and off the router i think the problem might come from there since it says "obtaining Ip adress from...", but then again for nokia N8 works just fine, and i even renamed and reseted the router to different settings and still doesn't work so my guess is that the phone has a problem.
Your router changes IP every time you restart it? Can you explain a little...are you being re-issued a dynamic IP from your ISP thats refreshes when you reset your router? Otherwise I would think even after resetting your router it would default to 192.168.1.0 or .0.0.
Either way it sounds like a DHCP problem...where the router is not properly issuing an IP address to the phone, or your phone has cached old settings and isn't being able to pick up an IP after your router changes IP.
Yea Kops the Ip is dynamic and refreshes every time i reset the router

This is probably the case, any way i can clear the cache?
I've had similar-ish problems when running a custom rom so last resort would be re flashing

I would look into seeing if your router is capable of NAT (as most routers are). This would enable a private network in the 192.168.x.x range, and might solve the issue of it not picking up the new IP if the issue is with caching the old one. As far as clearing any cache related to wifi, I'm not exactly sure where that would be found. You could try going into your Settings > Wireless & Network > Wifi settings and forgetting the network. Doing this and letting it re-discover it may help.
May I ask why you are resetting your router? I see no need for it to happen very often. Also, just let me clarify....if you successfully join the wifi, and leave the wifi range...when you return, will it connect again? Does the non-connection only happen after resetting the router?
Have you tried to use static IP for your phone instead?

This might be worth a shot if you could get NAT working, to eliminate the "obtaining IP address" from the DHCP... but if the IP is constantly refreshing and changing, I'm not sure it would do any good.
Hi everyone,
I have a Beklin Share N300 router and trying to set up my chromecast on this network.
Everything works fine, i mean the set up process; chromecast can see the network, can connect the network without any problem but get this message on the screen:
ChromecastXXX connected to yournetwork, but cant access the internet.
Has anyone faced this problem before?
I appreciate for your comments

Im been having the same problem since yesterday morning. Ive been in contact with Google and they escalted my case but i havent heard back from them about it.
I had the same problem with my E4200v2 router. I just kept trying and trying from the chromecast app on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and after an hour it finally setup. Have patience and keep trying everything. Reference your router's manual for additional information you might need. Good luck!

did you try putting the CC in the DMZ?
I don't have the CC yet, so I don't know if it needs any ports open in your firewall. Is there any way to manually enter a private IP or DNS info?
From what you're describing, the Chromecast isn't getting the DNS information.

DMZ could be the solution. Try disabling AP isolation under your router's setup UI.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
The AP (access point) he probably doesn't have setup anyway since that's more for bridging.
I just don't know if CC needs any ports forwarded. He may want to see what IP is being assigned to his CC and then check the firewall logs to see if any traffic is being blocked by it. The DMZ on his router should place the CC in front of the router and thus let all traffic to and from it, which should, in theory, fix the DNS problem.
It maybe to worth a shot to port foward port 53, which is usually used for DNS. I don't remember if it was UDP or TCP or both. And sometimes you still need to port forward even when using the DMZ. It's lame, but router's just act funny sometimes.
====================
it just dawned on me, it might be that CC is getting it's internet access from the device that's getting the content. So, you may need to enable internet sharing on your PC. Although, I don't think this is the case.
I also was getting the "connected to wireless, but can't access the internet" What I determined is that the ChromeCast is NOT using the DNS servers provided by my DHCP server, it was trying to communicate to a different DNS (likely Google's own).
In my case, I had a firewall in place that prevented access to any DNS other than what I was providing in DHCP. Once I opened the restriction and allowed all DNS traffic, chromecast immediately connected.
Hope this helps someone else.

Interesting. In my case, it was the opposite. I had my laptop configured to use Google's DNS servers and I kept on getting the same "connected to wireless, but can't access the internet" message. I reset the DNS servers on my laptop and Chromecast immediately connected to the Internet.
anyone know which port/s does chromecast use
DMZ worked for me but i dont like putting devices on DMZ. Sounds like this is just a port forwarding issue and putting it on DMZ is an overkill.
Anyone knows which port/s does chromecast use???
I also have the Belkin N300 and was having the same trouble. What i did was a factory reset on my router and a firmware update in the router settings and now everything seems to be working fine as of now.
AP Isolation
Switching off AP Isolation fixed the issue for me. I had the same issue before I did this.

I tried this too, even porting, but no luck..
tried every single suggestion but cant figure out what is wrong.
What i understand from the replies; it needs some specific DNS. But when i change my DNS on my routers setting page different than provided my ISP, router itself doesnt connect to internet.
DMZ, MAC filtering, disabling Firewall, disabling AP, none of them work so far; with numerous combination of those...
I believe it shouldnt be that hard.. ?
Update: Placing it in DMZ took a couple of retries but have fixed the issue now.
Similar problem. Worked on the first setup. Then after two day a get "can't connect to internet" message. Tried factory resetting and putting in the DMZ. Nothing helps. Anyone?

I don't really have more suggestions. From what I know, the CC doesn't need any special DNS information because really all the CC is just a media player (although not exactly correct). When you cast something to it, the device (mobile device or PC) you're sending it a URL, which it then opens and can play. This is why it needs an internet connection. Tab casting is a little different. Thus, if it'll play on your mobile device or PC, you can play it on the CC (assuming the content is CC compatible). If there is not internet to the CC, then the DNS and ISP information is not being forwarded to the CC or it's not connecting to them; this assumes it's getting an private IP from the router and not being denied because of MAC filtering or something.
Over here I've got another problem. My current ISP forces me to use their DNS. Since the Chromecast has its own fixed Google DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4), the Chromecast is not allowed to connect to the internet.

Same here, I'm on a studentnet that uses a PPTP connection with their own DNS, so if I change the DNS I won''t have an internet connection, permanent. Not sure how to fix that.

I had the same issue with the original firmware (12072).
After leaving it connected a few days it eventually stayed connected long enough to download an update.
After restarting it, it applied the update.
On firmware 13300 it complains when it initially boots, then after about a minute or two it connects successfully.
So...
If you're rooted, use FlashCast to update to PwnedCast 1.0 (based on 13300)
If you're not root-capable or have no plans to root, set it up and leave it at the "but can't connect to the Internet" for a few days (just leave it powered by the power adapter), then power-cycle it, hopefully you will see it updating.
I've got an unlocked AT&T Nexus 6 running on Verizon. My plan includes tethering. The phone is running stock, so I can get OTAs.
I can enable tethering, and it starts after the provisioning check. I can connect my computer via wifi successfully, however DNS doesn't work, so nothing loads. If I manually change the dns settings on my computer to 8.8.8.8 or some other public DNS everything works fine.
I've googled a bit, and found some bug reports here and there for other lollipop devices having the same issue, but I've been unable to find a resolution other than manual DNS settings on every device.
Is anyone aware of a fix for this? I'd expect google to jump on this before too long.
Nevermind, it seems to be working fine now. I'm not sure what caused the problem for me.
Hi,
I have had a quick look and found no answer to this issue.
I have an XZ2, which has worked faultlessly until a few weeks ago. The result is that when at work my connects to the network but shows 'connected, no internet'. It used to work on the network no bother. I have checked without IT dept and they can see no reason why it shouldn't work (ie it's not blocked on the network)
This appears to coincide with us getting a new router at home, We binned BT and moved to 4g Broadband from 3. Now when I connect at home it says connected no internet, then after a few minutes it gets internet connection. Sometimes I need to restart the phone. At work restarting makes no difference. I have tried:-
a)Forgetting the network and re-joining
b)reset network settings
I have read that the only fix is a factory reset of the phone. But I am hoping there may be a better solution to this.
Thanks
I am still having issues with this. I have tried starting the phone in 'Safe Mode' but still will not connect to the internet through my work network.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
bit the bullet and did a full reset on the phone. Still getting 'connected, no internet'.
I am assuming that there must be an issue with the network/router at work if this is still happening after a reset. Although our IT has checked my mac address, DNS and IP address and say all are correct.
Well, looks like I may have resolved the issue. just as a last-ditch attempt I did the following.
1.Settings
2.Network & Internet
3.Advanced
4.Private DNS
In here you have three options. OFF, Automatic and Private DNS Provider.
Mine was set to Private so I changed it to Automatic.
It seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure why as this is not a setting I have ever changed.
