I've sent an email to Xiaomi to ask when the Global release will be. I purchased the Note 12 Pro here as a 'Global' version but it ended up being some modified Chinese ROM with a factory unlocked bootloader so I couldn't even use GAPPS and a bunch of other apps (super annoying). So now it's just sitting in the cupboard until a Global or other ROM is release for the phone...

I purchased the same phone but opted for the basic CN rom and the box was sent sealed. I'm currently waiting for the bootloader to be allowed to be unlocked (official way 168hrs) and have left it unused after setting it up.
Google services/apps CAN be added/allowed anyway on the CN rom under accounts (you'll see it there, enable it), then install the latest google play apk and any other apps you want. I have the phone at 99% how I like it and may keep it as is because gpay works. You can also use ADBAppControl to remove bloatware and if you bang a launcher on (I'm using Nova) you'll not notice. If you're gonna flash it anyway you might as well try the above and see if it is good enough for you. At least you can play with your new toy

No or few development for Xiaomi with Mediatek processors.
My bootloader is now unlocked and I'm hoping that xiaomi.eu will make a rom for it. It can stay in it's box till they do, or we get a global rom. Can't be long really.

I managed to get GAPPS on it, but still can't use WearOS which is a pain.. Other than that, I have Google Pay, Play Store, etc on it. I'll give ADBAppControl a go. The Chinese apps are a bit annoying with all the notifications (even after disabling notifications...)
Had this guy help me since he has an authorized account: [email protected]
Been using both my Redmi Note 9 Pro and this Note 12 Pro. The 12 is much, much smoother but I'm not super impressed with the camera though. The Samsung camera looks way better.

I found a video online comparing the samsung cam against the sony and couldn't see that mugh difference and gcam seems 'ok' on it. I can't use gpay cos the nfc isn't active, I'm not sure if I can use the nfc on my pixel watch to pass the info back to the phone via BT for purchases. Might try that when/if a proper global rom is out. The india rom is fine for 99% of it all for me.
I bought the Chinese version. I hated the limitations and crap not working correctly with the Chinese rom, so I flashed the Indian (Global) rom the day it was available and it's great!
I'm definitely waiting for a xiaomi.eu rom though as there's still some things missing. Gamepad support and Google Pay are 2 that I can think of right now.
I live in Canada.
Someone has asked over on xiaomi.eu, and as the phones processor isn't snapdragon, support might not be looked into. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Holy crap. I really hope that's not the case. I would settle for something like Lineage or Arrow ROMs, but I would really like a stock, debloated rom with missing features added.

I've always wanted the Mi Mix and now the prices are dropping I'm seriously considering getting one. One of the main advantages of MIUI is getting constant updates no matter the model so I'm not really concerned if it has Nougat or not. Of course the Mix2 would probably be the preferred improved device, but the price will be ridiculous for the first few months.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
P.S. I'm not a modder and it will remain stock and unrooted.
I might get one too. What's the best price right now?

They're on Ali Express for between $470-490 for the 4gb model but I want to use PayPal. Banggood seem to have the best price at $539 for the 6gb model (with PayPal).
I picked one up on Swappa recently so I wouldn't have to wait for shipping. For $500, I'm very happy. The Mix 2 almost certainly will be China only at launch and will be very expensive and take a long time to import to the US. If you're in a country where the Mix is sold directly, may be worth waiting.
If you want to use your phone completely stock id say this phone is not for you if in the USA. Imo this phone is near unusable in the USA if you intend on staying stock.

I am sorry to say that you won't be getting those updates so often or easily on the Mix, not the official global ones anyway. Global beta for the Mix is still on Marshmallow. If you will be using the China stable or beta then no problem.

Why is that? Everything I've read says it works fine for T-Mobile and AT&T LTE. I can't think of any other requirements that make the US so different. I've also used several phones without T-Mobile lte and 3G has been plenty fast.

The point is that I will be getting some updates for the lifetime of the phone unlike other companies. The Mix is also on the list to be updated to Nougat. Besides that many of the features in new Android versions are already on even the older versions of miui.

Sure. And some features are not there yet even on the MIUI nougat builds. But yeah, the Mix should still be getting updates for sure. Miui 9 should be available for it when it comes out or a bit later too.
And you can always root and go for one (or all) of the great custom roms out there too!!! :victory:
Anyway, only my opinion of course: impossible to know when Mix 2 will come out but as guys already said it will be very expensive for a while. And despite it probably being really awesome, the original Mix will still be a great great value for a long time. I think anyway.

Joking aside - i just bought mine on cect shop for 470€ with a mi band 2 and additional cables and protectors. atm it is in customs (shipped friday, today is sunday) and will get it tomorrow or tuesday..
it misses lte band 20 which is used in rural areas but I don't care. It's beefy enough to swap from my OP1 (since the OP5 is a mess, and you were not able to buy a 3t for ages thanks OP for all the fish...)

Real simple my friend, I activated the Project Fi account using my nexus 6, then moved the sim card to the Mi Mix, made sure all the APN settings matched and are correct and boom....... MAGIC.
I've done this with.....
Note 3, 4, 4 Edge
OnePlus 2, 3T
Huawei Mate 8, Mate 9 Pro
I have not encountered any issues or problems using Fi with a alternative device, beware you can only use T-Mobile which for me isn't a issue because it's the best service in my area, Sprint is terrible and US Cellular is non existent where I live.

I bought mine a few weeks ago and love it. All bar the camera which is distinctly average. I came from the Honor Note 8 and The Mix definitely edges it overall.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind when the time comes.
Hello! Hope this is the right section to ask this.
I decided it's about time for my 3-years-old Honor V10 to retire. It had 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, plus a 128 GB SD card, making it 256 GB.
I like the S20 FE as it tickes all the boxes, including the expandable storage. Most comparable phones would either have 128 GB non expandable, or 256 GB, which would be either a downgrade or a waste of money for me since I already have a SD card.
However, as far as I understand, the Snapdragon version sold here in UK only has 6 GB RAM, is that correct?
If I wanted the RAM upgrade, I would have to order a non-EU version. It would be my first time, so this is my question: based on your experience, what are the pros and cons? Is it worth getting a Chinese unlocked version with only 1 year seller's warranty to get more RAM at a cheaper price, or should I stick with the more expensive 6 GB UK version?
Thank you in advance
I got the SM-G7810 8 gb ram for 520 euro a month ago on ebay tru T-dimension. A China store that ship's from (uk stock) to avoid taxes in Europe in 7 working days. You can look them up on trust pilot. My ram takes between 3.8 to 4.5 gb of use. It think after 2 years with new firmware and ui it will ask more.Maybe updates come slower with this Hong Kong version because android 11 still not here and still on December security patch.I did not want so spend more to have less ram and stuck with the exynos. I was lucky my unit have no screen issues, that's the risk you maybe take.

Thanks! And apart from updates, did you have any issues? Is the phone filled with Chinese bloatware that is impossible to install, as I read somewhere else?
I would get the 8 gb ram variant especially with Android 10/11. My Note 10+ running on Pie with only 2 windows open right now is using 6.8 of its 12 gb of ram.
You can't never have too much ram... Android can use all it gets.

Most of the software works fine except. edge lightning for notification sucks for 3th party apps. It also affect other series I searched.I use oadnotify from play store and works great with small battery useage. It have not much bloatware pre installed . Battery life is great on this device.
Thank you very much for your advice.
In the end, I found out merely by chance that, if you dig a bit more, the Samsung UK official shop is actually selling the 8/256 GB version for 750 bucks.
So though it's a bit over the budget I had originally planned, and the extra storage was not needed, I decided to go for it since it has the RAM and the processor I wanted plus the peace of mind of buying an EU firmware device from the manufacturer.
So for anyone interested, in UK this version is actually available though the Samsung website is the only one currently selling it and you have to dig to find it (feel free to ask for help).
Still a mystery to me on why they're keeping it so hidden, only answer would be that they want to push the other more expensive S20 devices.

I see the global version supports wifi calling and VOLTE and has as much band support as my Huawei P30 Pro so the coverage should be fine but will this phone actually work on AT&T after the 3g shutdown? I've read forums where people "call" *#somenumbers*#" and it lets them turn on VOLTE without the carrier checking compatibility. Any advice or input would be great. I really hate iPhones and Samsungs which seems to be all US carriers want to support.

I'm on Tmobile works perfectly on 4G LTE. 3G isn't an issue as that only applies to phones that rely on 3G data and Yes, VoLTE works!
That's good to know because ATT is basically trying to force me to buy one of maybe 3 phones. I wish I could keep my P30 Pro but I cant seem to get the update that enables VOLTE so I need a new phone and this seems much nicer then the new Samsung.

I tried that already, I don't see any codes to unlock the options on my phone. I think the APN is part of the problem. I was told to use NXTGENPHONE. Further research shows that ATT doesn't allow any thing they don't approve to use VoLTE or VoWiFi regardless if the phone has the feature. Unless you know a sneaky way around this, I suspect the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra won't work either.

I just want to confirm that you have the global rom version and not the Chinese rom. I'd hate to spend $1,000 on a phone that only works for 6 months
I bought the Chinese version and have tried all roms, but settled on the rom from Xiaomi.eu as there are far more features and less bloat. BTW, the Chinese variant now sells for around $900 from Giztop for the base model. I bought my 12/256 for $1045 when it was first released. I heard the Global variant was selling as high as $1300. Considerable savings going with the China variant, waiting a week, unlocking the bootloader and flashing another rom.

I've been reading that having the Chinese version causes issues with AT&T specifically and no one can seem to confirm that having either rom will work with ATT after the 3g shutdown. My current phone, the Huawei p30 Pro is the global version that had the most ATT frequencies of the p30 series but apparently the only version that doesn't have VOLTE. I just don't want to spend $1,000 on a new phone that has no guarantee of working after the shutdown or even on the 5g network. According to the frequency lists online, the Chinese version doesn't support ATT 5g. Is there any difference in hardware between the global and Chinese variant or is the only difference the ROM installed on it? Meaning does the rom determine the frequencies supported?

Saving money is what I'm all about. Do you know of a guide to flashing the rom? I've never used twrp or any of that sort of software. Any guides on this phone specifically would be great.
So I found a YouTube video that seems pretty straight forward:
After you flashed the new rom does your phone auto update? Can you go to settings and get updates through the GUI or do you manually have to connect it to the PC and flash it each time ?

So I found a YouTube video that seems pretty straight forward:
After you flashed the new rom does your phone auto update? Can you go to settings and get updates through the GUI or do you manually have to connect it to the PC and flash it each time ?

YES, it recieves OTAs
Here's the link for the Xiaomi stock roms. https://c.mi.com//miuidownload/detail?device=1900395
Here is the info for the Xiaomi.eu rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...mi-eu-rom-for-xiaomi-mi-11-pro-ultra.4260617/
I decided not to buy the phone after speaking with a few people from AT&T. They informed me that the way AT&T will be deploying the mandatory VOLTE would render the phone useless based on their encryption. Because the phone is not white listed they will not send the required encryption to the phone so VOLTE would not activate after the 3G shutdown and if it somehow was activated before, they would deactivate it on the shutdown date. It is really proving that living here in the US is not a great as it once was. We are now being forced to pick 1 of 3 phone companies. Apple, Samsung or the google Pixel. I assume since they paid the most in back end deals. All of which I hate. Looks like
I'll be hacking/rooting a Samsung. If anyone knows of a theme to make a Samsung look like a Huawei, please post it here. Very disappointed to lose my IR blaster and all the better various hardware that these overseas phones have to offer. Uncle Sam said no.

FIrst of all, I would switch networks. No question on that one, as they are trying to force you to buy the phones that they sell. Also, if you are using a Snapdragon variant of a Samsung used in the United States, you will not be able to unlock the bootloader and/or root it. That is only possible on the exynos variants, which are probably not whitelisted on AT&T.
Please share:
-Which version do you have? Global, China, Indian?
-Which firmware do you use on this phone? Global, xiaomi eu, chinese, eeu?
-did you ever had a problem with the main screen touch response / slow fingerprint unlock / drops of the main screen refresh rate due to activating the small rear screen / overheating of the device during simple tasks like browsing the websites?
The explanation, why I am asking those specific questions in that order are written below (the message is long, read it if you are interested in my theory...)
Spoiler: The explanation
About 2 months ago I got my Chinese variant of mi11 ultra 12/256. For the first 7 days of waiting to unlock the bootloader everything was working great. After unlocking it I installed xiaomi.eu and from that moment I experienced all of the problems mentioned in my 3rd question, one after another, without the possibility of fixing them by for example changing to all the firmwares mentioned in the 2nd question, or even by coming back to the Chinese original firmware. I am very experienced modder of android, especially xiaomi devices, so I don't think that there was a lack of my experience in trying to fix this device.
Suddenly, without any reason and without any hardware damage, the rear main camera lens stopped working. I sent my phone for the guarantee repair including the list of all the other issues. The service center informed me that it was not possible to fix this phone and I received all my money back.
I cannot find any other and better phone for this money in the market, so I am trying to figure out if the problems which I experienced was caused by using global firmwares on the Chinese variant of the phone. My theory is, that there has to be a reason (and connection) why my phone stopped working properly after switching the firmwares.
Why there is such a huge price difference between the Chinese and Global version? The Chinese variant you can easily buy now for 780 euros with the shipping to Europe. The global variant costs 1300 euros.
I cannot believe that in Europe it's necessary to pay 520 euros more for the taxes, extra 5g band as well as the official Google play support. That is 40 percent more of the phone's value!
There has to be a hardware difference. Many people are saying that there isn't, but noone never shared any official data comparing two devices and proving that each of the chip on the motherboard is exactly the same between those variants.
In my opinion global firmware on the chinese variant is somehow damaging the hardware of the phone, which cause problems not possible to fix.
I had a chance to speak to a few xiaomi mi11 ultra owners. Until now, my theory was correct, because all the people who bought Chinese variant and switched to the global / eu or whatever different firmware started to experience at least the touch response issue as well as the fingerprint scanner issue. Other people who did not switch to global firmware on the Chinese phones didn't experience any issues mentioned in this post.
I have a global device with global ROM and firmware, I have stuttering when rear screen is active and fingerprint scanner is not always accurate, also during browsing the touch screen response becomes sluggish and I have to screen lock and reunlock to fix it,
I have multiple issues with my 11 Ultra. It's the most stupid flagship phone ever. Chinese crap.
Hardware is great, software is just a total crapshoot.
For instance: the attachment option doesn't even work here in this app.
I'm on 12.5.6 global RKAEUXM..

No that's not the Chinese variant at all.
It's the m2102k1g version.. G as in Global...
Note that this number is on the back of the phone. So in your own theory, yours should have "c" on there for Chinese...
China phone , eu stable
On paper the phone is great, in the hand it has many issues.
My Huawei mate 20 x is a lot more polished and it was released in 2018 ffs

I use the Xiaomi.eu rom, which has the features of the China rom, which aren' t in the Global or EEA roms, but has the Google services not available in the China rom.
I was looking for a custom ROM (first Xiaomi phone,I hate MIUI, it sucks) while keeping the Camera featiures. but I realized there isn;t any out yet.
The 12 Pro has been out for 8+ months, and there still isn't any actual ROMs for it.
I wonder if we will see anything (Lineage for example) anytime soon.
Do you think the lack of ROMs is because devs are focused on other phones, or that the 12 Pro is just unpopular?

If you don't like Miui, you had to buy a Pixel.
The 12 pro is not unpopular but expensive, it's more practical to have the phone to develop.
Wait and see.
MIUI indeed but better than stock.

I actually had a Pixel 6 that had issues (still loved it though), and wanted to replace it with something I hadn't tried before.
The 12 Pro is a great phone, I just have my gripes with MIUI now that it's been a couple months, but it is by no means bad, it's just personally not my favourite UI.
I will absolutely wait and see, this post is by no means complaining or begging, simply wondering if this is normal as I have never owned a Xiaomi device before!

I understand but as said above the phone is relatively expensive and recent, you have to wait.
Yet the A12 source code is already there.https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/zeus-s-oss
To familiarize yourself with a Xiaomi you can try a Xiaomi EU rom, same than stock but with a lot of improvements and options and especially the call recorder.

I love using MIUI, it has all the features built-in, I am using it from MIUI 9, and MIUI is one of the first to implement gesture navigation,
I have also used other Android skins like One UI, Color OS, Oxygen OS & Stock android, out of all those Oxygen OS older versions and stock android are good other than MIUI,
One UI is full of features but it causes lag I have Samsung Galaxy S7 tab which lags quite a bit
If u want to remove unused system apps just use tools like Xiaomi adb fastboot tool by szaki you can easily find it on google and it is easy to use too just enable USB Debugging and select which apps u want to remove this tool even has an option to reinstall removed apps

I am using the EU Rom as I am in the EU (even reflashed it after trying the A13 Beta).
The things I don't like about MIUI are mostly, well, about the UI:
- The Settings are absolutely nonsensical compared to any other phone I have ever used, specific features are all switched around, when most other UIs are kinda similar in their arrangement and sorting of settings
- MIUI looks super boring and has ads in their apps (that you have to manually disable)
- Some settings literally stop working if you uninstall specific apps (cannot change Lock Screen wallpaper through settings without the Xiaomi Gallery app, some battery settings and other settings dissapear if you uninstall Xiaomi Security)...
- You completely lose one of the main features of Android 12: the theming with the wallpaper, widgets, icons, etc... all lf those are removed in MIUI.
- Split-Screen SUCKS. You cannot resize the Youtube app, as it doesn't scale the window correctly and you lose the video, instead of doing it like every other UIs ny letting you only show the video; it doesn't scale the launcher so you lose access to your dock/bottom part of your screen, etc...
I feel like MIUI has removed a lot of what makes Android 12 appealing, and it will do the same with Android 13, which is why I want a more Stock A12/13 ROM, while keeping the Camera features (which you just need the app for).
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter whatsoever that Xiaomi has good Gesture Navigation, because I CANNOT use it.
I WANT to, but you HAVE to use the default launcher to use them. Changing the default launcher warns you that Gesture Navigation is only available with the stock launcher.
I need a different launcher so I can use my Icon Packs I paid for and have been using for years, as well as all the customization they give (rename apps, custom icons per app, hide apps in app drawer, etc.).
I have never had any of those issues with my previous phones (minus A12, since it is newer), and while the 12 Pro is still a great phone, it has so many issues.
I will wait for the ROMs patiently, but nothing will make me love MIUI unless they fix all of thoses issues I described above.
Still running stock MIUI (Android 11) fully debloated, native call recording (stock Indonesia ROM has it by default and works great outside of Indonesia), device is fully read/write-able thanks to my SystemRW/SuperRW feat. MakeRW script (link in my signature) which opens the door for endless customizations according to your personal preferences and I couldn't be any happier. As you can see you don't need to install a 3rd party ROM to be happy
And if my banking app is too intrusive I will simply uninstall it and do my money transactions with my browser app which never checks for root or if my selinux is permissive. I mean why would the browser app check such a thing? That's none of its business!

What you say absolutely does not correspond with the XIAOMI EU roms which have no ads, you may be talking about EEA stock roms for Europe (disabling the ads in the setup).

How sad! A10 + A11 are the best versions!
You can try to compile A11 from source for your device if you like a challenge
That's okay though. You can make RW A12 too and debloat the hell out of it and customize it until you are happy with the results
A13 that's a different story altogether... I'll update my script to make it work with A13 but it's not as easy as with A10 or A11
