that's impossible, you can't change motherboard.

Why not??? If it burns or sometrhing defektive, and if you want to keep the phone, there are spare parts, people are selling motherboards on ebay. A heart transplant is possible, why not a motherboard change?!?

I'm not sure the "motherboard" is replaceable at all. Are you sure the service center isn't taking you for a ride? Especially since if it's a "motherboard", warranty units usually get replacement rather than repair. You may be better off separating the parts (if you can) and selling them separately. Get a new phone instead.

[Q] Milestone repair/spare parts?

One day I was charging my Milestone via USB and I unplugged it. The USB pins came out with the charger. My carrier told me that it was user-induced damage and not covered by the warranty, as well as telling me that you can't replace the charging port, so I'd simply have to buy a new phone.
This was quite unacceptable to me, so I went around to cellphone repairing shops and none of them have been able to fix it. In fact, the most recent attempted fix has left the back panel ripped apart, too!
The phone was in perfect condition before.
So does anyone know where I can find this elusive charging port - is it so special to the milestone that I can't replace it with another phone's USB port? I also need international shipping. Yes, pigs fly.
I have a dead Motorola Droid.
It sure is the same charging port.
PM if you are interested, I can ship worldwide.

I see you're still trying to get your phone to work. I may take you up on the offer, but I'm going to try one last phone technician to see if he can fix it. If he can't, I'll find out if it's just because of the port or because of general incompetence. Then I might be able to take the phone off you. Thanks for the offer.
Hi I am looking for a motherboard for my milestone. I am from Germany. My Milestone has a water damage. The only thing that does not work is the touch.
I think if I were an undamaged motherboard in it have ,it work again.
Does your motherboard?
Dear Greetings from Germany Misch xD
won't you need a new touch panel as well? if ur mother board failed, how did u determine touch doesn't work?
Hi
Hmm I think that the motherboard is damage. Because it has water damage suffered.
but maybe I should first install a new touch. Although I think the honest, the motherboard is scrap.
Do you have to sell a Touch?
thx

[Q] HTC One Charging Port Damaged

Hi Guys
So I bought an HTC one, international version two months back from eBay India. (It has no warranty)
Recently, the charging port on the device has malfunctioned. HTC won't replace it for obvious reasons
and my seller has no hardware warranty. Is there a way in which I can get it repaired/replaced.
All suggestions are welcome (Even do-it-yourself ones).
Thanks

That actually depends on how bad the problem actually is. If the full motherboard needs to be replaced, then it will cost u much more than 5000 INR. So i wud suggest that u show it to a repair shop nd ask the quotation before actually asking them to do it.
However, im baffled as to why HTC wont do it themselves. If there's no warranty, it won't be done fr free. But i live in Dubai nd here HTC outsources their hardware services to another company, who does all kinds of repairs.
Keep this in mind, HTC has listed quite a few service centres in Delhi on their website
http://www.htc.com/in/support/service-center.html
Check wat they have to say. Ive got many devices repaired by these local hardware technicians in Mumbai. I dont think IT support is any worse in New Delhi

Actually, i did go the HTc center, they said there was a problem with the micro USB alone, but as this was an international version, they didnt have the parts for it.

Ur only other option would be to go to a local hardware technician.

[Q] HTC One charging port compatibility issue

Hello,
I live in India. I bought an HTC One from a seller on ebay, who has imported the phone from Hong Kong.
Few days ago, the phone's charging port stopped functioning properly. I took the phone to HTC Service Center to get the port repaired. But the repair person at the service center says that as the phone is from out of India, the charging port is not compatible with the one he has in stock.
He says he can put it in, but it may cause issues.
Can anyone please give me advice about this? What difference do connectors have and what issues can be caused due to this? The service centre guy says he cant say what issues may occur, anything may go wrong because of it...
Im sorry I know its a trivial question but I hoped that if anyone has any hardware knowledge about this, they could help me take a decision whether i should put in the "non-compatible" charging connector.
Thanks in advance

The charging connector is universal. Did you speak to the service rep or the technician?
Edit: are they doing it for free??

No, they are charging some amount, i guess some Rs. 500 or so
I spoke to the technician..
Try aftermarket repair there are also good technician can help you charging points are now same for all companies at least HTC won't use two different types

I'd say, don't go to an aftermarket technician. If HTC is taking only 500, get it done there. At least they'll disassemble and reassemble the phone the right way. Also, aftermarket parts aren't the same quality as the ones HTC will give you. I've bought an LCD assembly aftermarket, and there is a noticeable difference, between OEM and that (although it is 100% genuine, it just isn't as good)

I was considering taking it to an aftermarket repair centre but I had concerns about the way they handle the housing...unfortunately the HTC One is so difficult to open without damaging its outer body

So there wont be any issue about the non compatible charging port right? I will ask HTC guy to put it in then.

[Q] Broke My Xperia Z Screen!

Hi friends.I recently met with an accident . When I checked my phone, the display was completely cracked Both the LCD and the digitizer are not working. I am considering sending it to the Sony service center in UAE. I know that this doesn't come under warranty, since I damaged it myself (not exactly). My question is,what display will they replace the cracked display with? Like JDC,sharp or someother display? Are the jdc and sharp displays available in the market? Because I don't want someother cheap display.
Sorry for my bad English.

If you give it to Sony service center it will be JDC/Sharp or some OEM replacement.
The will not give a cheap display don't worry.

Sorry. But I don't understand what do you mean by the OEM replacement since I am new to this topic. And how much does the JDC /Sharp displays cost?
Thanks for taking your time to reply me.

OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the part/product.
The cost varies in different countries because of shipping, tax and other costs.
In UAE can be around 286 Dihrams
The display is the most costlier part in the phone. For the money i can get a new display instead i can buy a second hand Xperia Z.
I suggest you to try to sell the phone and grab some money then buy a second hand or buy a new phone if you have money.

where can i get a replacement motherboard?

Even with schematics? You're welcome to send them to me in NZ. From what I can see, a supply rail will be down.
