Today I was in the car and using TeslAA Android Auto app on my Pixel 5a. At one point, the phone froze for a period and was unresponsive to any buttons. It then powered off, which I thought was restarting, but it never came back on. No matter what buttons I held down for how long, it was completely unresponsive. Nothing on the screen at all. I tried plugging it into my computer and when I held down the power button I could hear the USB sound on the computer. A long press (as if a hard reboot) would make it sound like I had unplugged the phone, and then pressing it again would sound like I plugged it back in. But still nothing on the screen. I have had zero issues with the phone up until now. What can I try?
I also tried power and volume down, but still nothing on the screen. It's like my screen completely died suddenly.

did you try power + vol down + vol up? all 3 at once for about 30 seconds then power on? that is a hard reset
Yeah I tried it all. I ended up realizing that for a problem like this, there's an additional year of warranty coverage, so I sent it into google for a free repair. So that was a nice surprise!

No problems with my Serendipity 7 ROM aside from a few occasional crashes/freezes, on my i897... but then last night, out of no where, my screen wasn't coming on. I thought it had froze again, so I did the Vol up/down+power reboot.
Came back up, then when I tried to turn the screen on again, it wasn't working. I put the cable in for power/USB, and the screen came up no problem. I thought maybe the power button wasn't working, but it reboots with all three buttons down... not sure why. Then I tested just holding the two Vol buttons and no power, but it still rebooted...
Looks like the power button is acting stuck down even though I can clearly hear the button working. Ideas?
Mobile tech videos has a fairly affordable power button replacement service.
sent mine you him, got it back in perfectly working order within a week.
Hi all
My girlfriend's sister got a Moto G 2014 this past Christmas.
It's unlocked, and I THINK she already got the 5.0 upgrade.
Yesterday she dropped the phone into me as "all of a sudden it stopped working"
The phone is bootloopin. The white Motorola powered by Android screen will come up, it buzzes, and restarts the phone.
The battery ran out by itself, but that made no difference.
Put the phone on the charger, pressed the power button after a while and same thing happened.
Only difference is that now every now and again it also shows the 0% empty battery screen.
Read around here somewhere about getting into the recovery and wiping the cache partition might solve this, but the button combinations I've seen online (pwr+up/dwn or pwr+up) don't seem to be working.
AND to make it worse, she obviously has no receipt for this.
So please... any ideas?
Charging for just a few minutes may not not be enough. You need to charge it for an hour or so then try to boot to recovery.
Charge it for 1-2hrs..then press power+voldown button together.. Hold it for 5 secs and release them together.. Now tell me whether the bootloader opens or not?
Sent from my XT1068 running stock Kitkat with GravityBox
Unfortunately, as soon as the phone starts charging it turns itself on and goes into boot loop.
No buttons pressed or anything, as soon as it stars getting charge it's on!

While plugged in, you should be able to hold the power down until the screen goes black, it may take a few seconds.

Nope, no matter the duration of holding the button, it just keeps on bootlooping.
It's not even holding a charge as it starts bootlooping as soon as there's some juice in it.
Never seen anything like it!

Since it is booting or at least trying to, have you tried holding just the volume up or volume down by itself through one of those bootloops. I mean just keep holding the volume button without touching the power button. This is the major fault I can find with a non-removable battery. You can't easily remove the battery, which will fix some common problems.

Volume Up button doesn't stop bootloop.
Volume Down button DOES stop bootloop.
Afterwards:
Power button - Back to bootloop
Power button plus Volume Down button- Back to bootloop
Power button plus Volume Down buttonfor 5 seconds then release - Back to bootloop
No button pressing - Back to bootloop after 15/20 seconds by itself
Hey there,
So today I was using my Xperia Z aaaand bam, phone "died".
Battery was at that time 70%, phone was a little bit hot, but in scale of 1 to 10 it was like 6. I had not problems previously with it (besides broken screen that got replaced 3 weeks ago). I was playing a game then suddenly it got closed and my screen got shifted. Like Animation of horizontal menu stucked while going to vertical. I pressed power button many times, I've keept holding it for a short time, long time... nothing. Phone did not respond at all. After 10 minutes it went black. No idea if it went "sleep" or so since power button do not work again.
I tried to reset it with Power + Volume down, Power + Volume up and again, nothing.
I've tried factory reset with Sony Companion but no luck either. Phone is NOT detected by that program.
However, when I plug the phone to PC I hear sound that some device has been found. Phone is presented now as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager. I've heard that not a good sign...
When I plug it to PC or Charger nothing happens so I have no idea if phone is getting charged or not.
What even more confusing, when I press power button - nothing, phone is COLD. But when I press Power + Volume down after a while it starts to get warm, after a long time of repeating this really warm.
Any ideas what could I do?
Thanks!

You phone has locked or unlocked bootloader? If unlocked, give a try to enter Fastboot mode and flash any custom ROM

Can you phone enter flashmode ? Does any LED indicator shows up when holding Volume +/- whilst connecting cable in PC (USB)?
Hi all,
Recently my HTC One would randomly have a pop-up that said something along the lines of "To reboot, press and hold the power button" along with a countdown and then the phone will reboot itself. This can happen any time, sometimes multiple times within a half hour, even when it is charging.
The last time it happened, it rebooted, got to the blank black screen, and rebooted again. I've plugged it in to charge but it would not stop rebooting. I've unplugged it to let it run out of battery so hopefully it would stop rebooting itself and I can try charging it again. Once it ran out of juice, I charged it and it continued rebooting itself. Pressing the power + volume keys only worked twice but the screen wouldn't stay long enough for me to select fast reboot or factory reset before rebooting itself again. Now pressing power + volume keys doesn't cause any effect on the phone.
I've never tempered with any of the software settings on my phone and it has been sent for repair three times last year. Also, my laptop does not recognise the phone when I plug it to my laptop.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Normally you get this message when holding the power button. So this message in addition to the rebooting issues makes me believe you have an hardware problem with your power button, maybe its stuck?

I tried pressing on the power button, it seems to be depressing fine. Is there any way I can affirm this?

I think what you explained at post #1 is enough to conclude your power button or something hardware related to it is the problem. I think you'll have to send your device for repair unfortunately unless you want to open the phone yourself to have a look which is not always good idea.
Hello,
I have a rooted and TWRP installed but otherwise stock 5.something T710 that I had worked on months ago. It's been great and my daughter had been using it to watch videos a couple days ago. I took the tablet from her at the end of our road trip and noticed it had about 63% battery left. I left it in the truck while we went to the movies(about 40 degrees f outsides) and then drove home without ever touching it until we got home. I went to use it when we got home and it would not turn on. I plugged it in to let it charge thinking it died for some reason, using the stock charger, though battery icon never appeared. The next morning I went to check it and it still would not turn on.
When I press the power button or plug in or unplug the charger the Recent and Back soft key lights will turn on for a second, then turn back off again.
I've tried:
Holding the power button down alone for over 3 minutes.
Held the power and volume up button for over a minute
Power and volume down for over a minute.
Home, volume down and power for over a minute
Home, volume up and power for over a minute.
I can connect it to my computer and it recognizes that my Tab S2 is connected but no files show as the default for the device was just charging mode and not the file modes.
Odin3 v3.10.7 recognizes it as connected. But fails to send the TWRP file again.
Any help?
Since the soft keys light up and the computer recognizes the device, it sounds like maybe the tab is still working but with no display? By any chance did you have adb working? I f so you could try rebooting, or booting into recovery to see if you see anything on the screen. It's possible that when you held the button combos, that it did boot into download and recovery but you couldn't see anything? In which case it could be a hardware problem. Hopefully it will fix itself! Sorry I can't be of more help..
Well adb shows the device as unauthorized. Reboot command says the same thing.
The home key is unresponsive to my finger print unlocks and no sound plays when I try to adjust the volume, like the ding sound it makes to hear if this is the volume level I want. There are never any of the capacitive touch vibrations or whatever its called to feel when you press a button on the screen.
I was wondering if it had something to do with hardware it's just strange that it would stop working from just being in my truck. From my knowledge it was never dropped or bumped heavily or anything, at least recently.
I guess it is possible something just burned up inside, that would be inconvenient, I've got to look up if its still in warranty. I love the size and performance of this thing.
Thanks for replying, hopefully more to come.
Still can't get it to work, same issues as above. I let the battery fully die which took about 2+weeks from the initial post. Which is to say that eventually the back and recent buttons stopped lighting up. I recharged it and after holding the power button for a few seconds the same condition repeated itself. If I touch the power button or home button the back and recent button back lights turn on for a moment and turn off again. There is no other indication of life. I would assume if it was just a dead screen then I should feel it try to turn on.
If I had to replace parts which ones should I look at first? Probably just the main board?
Buy a new one. Send yours in as defect. Done.

I see that is an old thread, but I having the same issue to a certain degree. The screen goes dark, but I can see the back light. If I play around enough times, (pressing the back and process button, before pressing the sensor button... Sometime, pressing the volume buttons and back button before pressing the sensor button), everything goes back to normal. Of course, it some random time, even when I am reading a web page or some other activity, it will go back to black.
So has anyone figured out what this issue actually might be? I thought maybe it was an issue with the ROM I was using, so I just moved over to LineageOS 16, but the problem still continues!
