XDA IIi Screen alignment trouble

Hi all
I have a problem with the screen alignment on my XDA IIi. I can get through the alignment tool fine and the 5 points match up correctly - however between the 5 points things can get quite far out of place. I tested this by trying to draw straight lines in notepad - the lines were very wonky, except for the sections near alignment points.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any software with more alignment points or any other possible fix.
Thanks in advance.
bushako
wow...rare case dude...never heard of anything of that kind..i guess you must have dropped it or better yet try Performing a hard reset, it may solve the problem...you must have installed a program that cause it to behave this way...
bushako
and oh yeah dont forget to back up,hehe
Yeah tried a hard reset... still no luck :\
I wonder if i should open it up and have a poke around.
Before you do that you might want to read on how the early Hermes were fixed, ie sliding a business card around the frame of the screen.
However, from personal experience, I once screwed up my touchscreen by sliding a screen protector up too high, so be careful. You might just open it up and take your chances there instead
Check out a service manual if you have access.

Dude did u get it fixed..i think im facing the same problems now...when aligning the screen the 4 points match up correctly but also wen i draw something using 3rd part programs like pocket artist..id try to draw a straight line at the bottom of the screen and instead it appears curved..and when typing messages i always end up inserting the wrong characters even though i point at the correct letters...i tried swapping a telephone card inbetween the screen and the panel but it didnt make much difference...i can open it up and take a look but i dont think much can be done either...so if anyone else is facing this problem and have resolved this issue..please let me know...
yes, same as me.
whenever I tried to hit space bar, the button above the space bar will be pressed instead :-(
can anyone come up with the solution on this device problem ?
anyone got a solution for this?
I am experiancing the same problems basically I think the manufacturer installed protective screen has come loose from the hard sensor (due to use?) and so the stylus is pushing on an air bubble.
I dont know whether to cut out that layer with a scalpel (carefully or not) and use normal screen protectors that stick properly ... has anyone done this before?
Yes, you could be right relbourn, at first I was suspecting the screen protector causing this problem but
hm.. I've tried even to remove the screen protector and did HARD RESET as well but still......... the problem can't be solved :-| gees...
any idea ? instead of replacing the touch screen ?
any suggestion or similar problem with this ?

Anyone else have this clicking?

I have a new Tilt and this weekend I have been messing around with various touch programs. I noticed a clicking sound on the back of my device when I hold it a certain way.
To recreate the issue, turn your phone over and press your finger onto the back right above the speaker and on the same horizontal line with the GPS stud. On my phone it presses in very slightly and makes a clicking sound. All other areas of the phone back seem solid.
Does anyone else with a Tilt/TyTnII have this? Is it a design flaw or is it just my phone?
thanks.
k im kinda confused at what ur doing. I'll try to help but be more specific. Is the screen opened or closed? What program are you running? I know if i have the speakers all the way up and my fingers are on back of the device i get a scratchy noises but i wouldn't call it clicking.
hmm i tried to follow and i dont seem to be having that problem.
Yea, mine does it too. Actually, I have 2 tilts. The older one does it, but the newer one does not do it. It's so minor that some people might not even be able to reproduce it, since it is so minor. Very trivial if you ask me.
Yeah it doesn't appear to be a huge deal, I was just curious... it is almost like the battery cover isn't on properly...but it is.
redbandana...I am not talking about a program clicking, i am talking about the back case....with the tilt closed, push in on the back battery cover just above the speakerphone... it seems to push in ever so lightly and make a little clicking sound.
My Tilt case does not make any clicking noises like you report. Probably a "fit and finish" issue. If the battery cover is on properly, it's not something I'd tend to worry about.

Correct. It wasn't even worth a new thread, in my opinion. Sorry.

home screen messed up

if i slide out the keyboard on the home screen and close it part of the today plug in get cut off for all buttons. the only way to fix the problem is to do a soft reset. does anyone have the same problem. maybe someone knows how to fix this issue. thanks
pic 1 is before the keyboard slides out
pic 2 is after. you can notice that part of the date is cut off.
pic 3 is after another keyboard slide out.
Is this stock or are you running a custom ROM?
Is there a hidden contest or something???
I should preface by saying I am in rare form today and normally keep to myself, but DAMN Elypsar - You're really burnin' up the threads today, aren't you? Seems to me though, you are just posting to post – I could be wrong and probably am, but your answers are so generic and really do not offer anything other than pleasantries and questions of your own to the question at hand and that's it. So it makes me wonder a motive or why someone would just post responses to threads with no rhyme or reason.
Forgive me, but I am in a skunky mood today and that is probably why I am taking a moment to comment. I understand that you are taking the time to help others out, but if you are going to help out, why not elaborate a little bit more than a one liner? Many of which are repeated throughout different threads, on different topics and the only response being yours.
Are you in some kind of race with yourself? Perhaps you like seeing senior member under your total posts. You recently joined so perhaps that is it. I understand about feeling like you are part of something, but you will know that your post count was built on general responses lacking substance.
Maybe you are going for something loftier. I dunno, but it seems silly to respond with generalities and such. Yes. I know some questions need more amplifying information as to properly ascertain what the problem is, but it just stuck me as funny because you offered really no help besides what ROM are you using and, Did you install something which could cause a conflict – basic at best, not even fundamental.
Not that this should even concern me, but as I said, I am in rare form today so deal with it.

P.S. VIPER - Have ypu tried to re-align your screen/recalibrate? Also, you may not want to, but, when in doubt, purge it out (i.e. Hard Reset)
Try downloading/using Kaiser Tweak and set the HTC Home to locked.
I had the same issue with the last rom I was running, one of Duttys. It seemed to me that it was the scroll bar causing the issue. I tend to keep the today screen free of BS shortcuts, so there is no scroll bar, but when the screen goes to landscape there is no escaping it. The transition from landscape to portrait ( i think thats the right term) it will keep the scroll bar up for a second, then when it goes away, your left with a blank spot where it was. Does all this sound correct? If so my only recommendation is to try a new rom. I am using the L26 V6. and I haven't duplicated that problem since I flashed it.

vibrating on startup

is there any way to prevent diamond from vibrating on startup?
thank you!
There probably is but it woudl mean you have to go through the registry to find the relevant keys and adjust them. I myself dont know which keys would do the job but im sure someone here will be able to help you out.
Now this is probably not the answer you are looking for - but why? Not trying to flame or anything, but I've noticed sometimes a lot of energy can be spent on irrelevant problems. With all due respect, this seems like one of those to me.
A bit more to the point - I strongly doubt a registry value can change that - the vibration occurs apparently BEFORE the operating system is loaded, so registry is meaningless at this point.
I think the phone does a self-test....like said before: it does vibrate before the OS loads, so I don't think there is any registery tweak for this

Ya it does, it cheks all the systems on startup. So be worried if it does NOT vibrate, means your vib crappppeddd out.
Cheers boys

sure it's one of the less important things...
but for me it's a annoying one because i always let spb-backup do a daily backup (which is rebooting after the job) early in the morning when i'm still sleeping - it was fine with trinity (there i had also to do a reg-tweak to disable startup-animation with sound) - with diamond sometimes i get scared from the vibration...
and yes - i'm not sleeping like a log...

Hehe - I see your point. Not much you can do about it though, I'm afraid.
This being said, if that vibration wakes you up, I really hope your home is VERY soundproof
Or simply put your diamond on or under a pillow.
Obviously there needs to be a movie about those horrible phones that go around terrifying people in their sleep!
That said, presumably you are putting the phone on a hard surface? Try putting it on something soft and wooly. Should significantly cut down the noise from those demonic vibrations.
Don't think there's a way to do that. The Touch Cruise does the same, and no one has figured out a way to disable it there as far as I know.
The issue with putting it on a soft surface to not make noise is (presumably) that if he did get an actual call or message, it would also silence that as well.
Can you change your schedule for SPB Backup to do its thing just as you go to sleep instead of in the middle of the night? Or if you don't always sleep at the same time, kick it off manually just as you go to sleep or step into the shower?
I know these don't solve your question, but are ideas to create the desired outcome
i hope i am not ruining this important topic with my high tech proposal for a solution.....
maybe it will be less stressful if you'll program the back up at a different hour....let's say ....when you are brushing yr teeth in the evening....BEFORE you go to sleep.
the back up (thanks god for SPB backup, it saved my ass so many times) takes only 3-4 minutes. right before you'll go to the lalala world you'll hear the reassuring vibe and you'll fall asleep with a smile on yr face knowing that the job is done.
good night, sweet prince. good night back-uped diamond....
I love how this topic gets so many replied but more usefull problems get none. Got to love the internet
I could code you a microcontroller to ignore any vibration signal for the first 30 seconds from start. All you'd need to do is open your diamond and solder it inside.
Hey its a solution

lol! yr solution is very low tech comparing with mine...that's all you got?

Just out of curiousity..

I have had about 7 different AT&T Tilts in my life and if my memory serves me right, I only remember 2 of them not having the issue I am about to entail.
When I slide my keyboard out, it seems that the ribbon cable or something under the metal hinge pushes against the back of the screen and you can actually see the screen colors fray and fade as if it would do it you were to push down too hard on it with your finger.
I am just wondering if anyone else has notice this. Wonder if it is a common occurrence. I would like to know what causes this.
No such thing on the 2 I've had. Never read of it on here either.
7 Tilt's? That was a typo, right?
No issues for me at all. No resistance or screen changes when activating the keyboard.
hmmm, odd. yeah 7 man haha
i have the worst of luck with phones. the one i thought was "THE ONE" i would keep till it was time to get a new phone was hit out of my hand and the hinge came loose so I had to replace that. That one did not have the problem i stated earlier. my replacement had that screen/hinge issue so i told em to send me another one by bullshitting that it will crack my screen...the one they sent me to replace that had the 7201 chip in it and 0 hours of talk time so it was brand freaking new...but it also had the screen issue...weird, huh? i wonder if it is anything to worry about?
The momentary color shifting occurs when you are applying too much pressure to the wrong area when sliding the phone open. I don't see this is normal use since I baby my Tilt, but I am able to reproduce it when I purposely try to.

yeah, i am aware. it happens regardless what i do. trying to figure out what is causing it so i can find a fix
Speaking from my job experience of ripping apart laptop LCD's, it's probably the ribbon cable; as mentioned previously...
