Force APN/Connection Settings after Hard Reset - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi
I have 500 SPV2000's deployed to a Mobile workforce that connect to a corporate network over a private APN and GPRS. If a device is lost, stolen or requires a hard reset the connection settings are lost and the device defaults to connecting to the Internet over GPRS using the service providers default settings rather than the private APN .
Is there any way to automatically configure the custom settings with no or minimal user intervention such as a pre-stored file on a SD card that runs whenever a device is hard reset or by SMS.
Originally we thought that the service provider could push these settings by Sim update but we have since been told otherwise.
All suggestions are welcome
Thanks in advance

Getting going on my MDA

I have an unlocked MDA device with the data posted in my sig as to the ROM etc.............
I have service with CENTENNIAL and want to set up the device for internet etc.............I have the data enabled from the carrier but they dont sell this device
What do I need to know and do to set up the device to pick up data from the GPRS net..............
Anyone please help, also is there a "generic ROM" for this device etc
Starting from scratch........OR can I just use the device to dial up my earthlink provider and access the net and email that way?
well just get the wap config from them and if they use proxies and that should be all
I got the information after about three calls, seems folks dont like you to use a phone from another company and skurp thier data, (which you pay for LOL!)
CENTENNIAL WIRELESS
VPN private.centennialwireless.com
USER privuser
PW priv
That was entered/subsituted for the T Mobile information under the communcations area setup......
This took me hours to figure out as there is no data
I can now surf internet and GET email from EARTHLINK but having trouble sending email via hte device, it says none of the addresses are good, so I have to see what setting there I need......etc
THanks

Tilt Proxy issue

I am having some issues with setting my proxy settings on my Tilt. The HTTP proxy is wiped out once they are set.
Here is what I am doing to create the problem
I go to Start ->Settings ->Connection Tab ->Connections ->Advance Tab ->Select Networks and change both settings in this menu to use "My Work Network" for both settings, and then set the proxy settings for "My Work Network" to use my corporate proxy, everything works fine until I enable a WLAN connection. After I enable the connection the proxy information disappears.
I guess I don't understand why the proxy settings disappear once a live WLAN connections is set.
Does anybody know how I can fix this.
I have tried running the no proxy cab which didn't help.
Thanks for any help
I am so frustrated I want to take this thing back to the store if I can't use it on my corporate network.
it probably does this since the proxy gets sent to you once you connect to a network, and the WiFi connection you are connecting to tells the Kaiser it needs no proxy... your corporate network should sent the proxy automatically, mine does (the wired one, not WiFi)
I called HTC support and they said this was a Mobile 6 bug. They said that they are going to work with MS to create a fix for this issue.
My thoughts are on this, is this going to affect a massive amount of user who have to connect through proxy on their corporate network.
This sucks cause I'm to cheap to pay for the data plan.
Holding my breath for a QFE from Microsoft. I sure not to soon though.
That isn't a WM6 bug. I have an ASUS device, which makes no problems with the proxy settings. It is probably a WM bug combined with the HTC specials.

no connection to EDGE...

all of a sudden i am unable to connect to the EDGE network, no word on 3g as i dont have it in my area. i try to connect to say PIE and i get the message "cannot connect with current connection settings. to change your connection settings, tap setting" this brings me to a help screen asking about "my isp name" and "my work network". no idea what to do past here, any help would be greatly appreciated. i did just flash a new rom and then just the basic googlemaps/operamini/keyboard fix/touch keypad.
My ISP Name - Add new connection (or modify existinf), select GPRS connection (no CSD) and at minimum You must know APN for GPRS (usually internet).
Contact Your mobile operator for details - APN, maybe GPRS user name and password is used by network too.
If possible try your SIM card in another handset jUst to be sure that there is nothing wrong at your Carriers end

Comm Manager Question

I have done a search on this question but found nothing that relates to the problem i have.
When i go into the comm manager my "Microsoft Direct Push" and "Data Connection" buttons are greyed out, i am asuming this means they do not work?
Would this also account for the fact that i cannot connect up to my providers Edge or GPRS data connections? Because at the moment i canot access the internet using my providers Ip settings.
I have an unbranded original unlocked HTC tytn II, the ROM version is 3.29.422.1 WWE and the ROM date is 05/20/08

I believe to have the Direct Push button light up, you need an Exchange Server email account set up.
As far as the data button, who's service are you using?
Hi GWelker62
Thanks for the reply ok i don't have exchange set up, so that would explain that one.
The service i use down here is Cable and Wireless, they use GPRS and EDGE, no 3G as of yet.

Would anyone else have an idea why the data button is greyed out? is this a service provider problem? or a phone problem.
Who is your cell service provider, at&t or T-Mobile perhaps? If it's at&t, I might be able to help with your data connection settings.
yep i did say in my second to last post, it is cable and wireless, C&W,
or as we call them careless and worthless
LOL, sorry, I misinterpreted "cable & wireless" as you were using a cable internet service with a wireless router. I'm not familiar with that company.
I can't help with their data connection settings, but I have to assume if you’re not getting any internet connection with the settings you have now, then the data button isn't going to light up either.
Ok so this is a service provider problem, and not the phone by what you are saying!
I fee much better knowing that, i just have to get on to them and find out why this is a problem

That happens on my phone, the button is grayed out until a program initiates a data connection; then the button becomes active. I believe its only for terminating a data connection as it tends to be dial as needed. Direct push is also available when there is an active data connection although it does nothing without an exchange server set up.
Hi Shub-Niggurath
Thanks for that, it makes all the sense in the world, gonna go to the network provider and see if they can help me out.

Hi GWelker62
Can i ask a favour, could you give me your AT&T setting for the phone, then i can work off of them, just using the provider over here.
I just need to see how, what and where you are putting them
