New to the forum. I have an original Wizard DVT that says "IU BUILD! Test Only" on bootup. It has ROM 0.34.0.1 (8/25/05), Radio ver 00.20.10, protocol 4.0.13.12.
What is the best way to go about upgrading this?

Hi all
I am posting here in the slightest hope that someone can help me out. In a nutshell I have a T-Mobile MDA III PH20B that has ceased working
I have tried hard resets but still have no joy and wondered if someone could help?
First off, on the back of the MDA once the battery is removed it shows;
Model PH20B
IMEI 35303000.......
When it starts up, in the bottom right corner it shows;
NO GSM
D1.06.00 ENG
If I choose START > SETTINGS > DEVICE INFO I see the following on the different tabs;
VERSION
Rom Version: 1.06.00 ENG
Rom Date: 08/05/04
Radio version:
Protocol version:
ExtROM Version: 1.06.117 WWE
IDENTITY
Model No: PH20B
Platform PocketPC
IMEI: (and no number!!!)
Problem is, the phone will not work following me trying to upgrade the ExtRom from the T-Mobile website (http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/download_manager_mda_3.html). It now keeps bombing out out with an error message saying;
ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR n-n-38-38-38
The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device. Please check the vender Website and download the correct ROM update.
This has never been tampered with, has never been unlocked and is now dead as a dodo. Can anyone please off any advice on how I can get it backup and running? I am lost (no pun intended) without my Bluetooth TomTom and phone.
When it connects to its cradle, my PC can still see it, so I am able to copy files to and from it. Thats about all I can do with it though

Well it seems like you MDAIII has a corupt system and thus you need to reflash it.
Best option for you is wiki.
Go to the link in my signature and see if you can find a original version that you can flash it with.
The No GMS means that the radio part is corupt.
The 1.06 means that you have a OLD version of the OS as we are now at 1.42.
The fact that you can still copy files just proves that the device can be seem but without a radio it is not much of a phone.
The country code error you can get arond by using the MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP application.
In all you will find out most of what you need of wiki.
Follow the link for the radio upgrade to solve the NO GSM
Follow the link for the 1.42 for the os

When it says Bootloader Mode - I got that far, but then pressed the on/off switch to fire it up again. I didn't realise the upgrade happened when it was a dark screen with just Serial or USB on it.

Anyway thanks for your help as its back up and running, and up to date with 1.42 and 1.15 I also thought 'sod it' and have managed to make it SIM free too

Now cook your extened rom and get rid of all the operator crap.

post IPL/SPL... ? of ur wizard in order to determine which wizard is it G3 or G4,cuz upgrading procedure is different for both.
T-Mobile MDA Compact III Issue
Sorry to tag this thread, couldnt figure out how to create a new one
I have a MDA Compact III issue when trying to upgrade to the ARTEMIS TOUCH 2.1 or 2.0 software
Unfortunatly, my pda was at 49% charge when i first tried, so stage one got to the end, then told me to charge my fone more and ended.
Thus i charge the fone to 75% and re-started. However, upon reconnecting the fone to commence the restart, the USB device was not recognised.
After removing the Active Sync and indeed the USB Driver from the PC and re-installing it, the conenction was re-established, however, it now often drops the connection. Plugging away, i tried the install Step 1 once more, and upon getting to 100% in the cmd part, and then progressing through the wizard, whereby the PDA displayed the progress bar reachinbg 100% (of the unlock stage) the PDA then reboots, and the connection is lost...and doesnt re-establish itself....and then the wizard reports Error [270] : Update Error The image file is corrupted. Please check your update Utility
Now, i have tried various sources for the software, and indeed tried both 2.0 and 2.1.....
Now i have a PDA that intermittantly drops its USB connection (and needs the USB removed and re-added on the PC) and is now slower than it was, plus never got to step 2 to get the software on iot.....
Can anyone help? Else i have a broken phone so to speak.....

try to flash in bootloader mode, and use your official rom first

Yours is obviously a G3 because G4 don't run OS 1.xx...
Go READ the sticky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435 that has a step-by-step guide for what you want
Don't start new threads without first trying all the options: Read, Search, Wiki, etc..

hi all i have a vodafone v1620 and i am having trouble trying to upgrade it when i try to put it in boolloader screen ll i can do is get it to the screen that says serial at top and v2.87 at bottom and when i try to add upgrade i get wrong rom for this machine plus at the screen that tells you what version i have and what it is going to be after the upgade is both are blank but phone is connected in the device manager any ideas thanks

try xplode's latest cooked rom in the WM6 section of Blue Angel, since it's PH20B then the innards should be the same (i looked at your unit and its casing and keys are different from a regular BA).
then read the Wiki for the upgrade.

I have a Cingular 8125 phone, I upgraded it WM6 with one of the ROM that I downloaded from xda forums. I do NOT know which one that I downloaded. I remember downloading and installing one of the T-Mobile stuff, then flashing a new WM6 ROM from this forum. My phone locks up every time AFTER I receive/make a phone call. I would like to go back to stock WM5. I have no idea how this works, but it appears that I am running the risk of bricking my device if I do it wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Following is the details of what I have.
During BOOT it shows
T-Mobile Logo
IPL 3.08
SPL 3.08
GSM 2.25.11
OS 6.1.0.0
After boot,
About page says Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
Device Information page says,
ROM Version: 6.1.0.0 WWE

Isn't that I first have to downgrade my SPL/IPL to 2.xx in order for the original WM5 to work on my G3 wizard?
Can you please explain the steps involved? BTW, where can I find the original ROM, are you referring to the one that can be downloaded from the HTC website?

Unfortunately I installed iPhone skin onto my Cingular 8125. I would like to revert process and get back my WM5, but I tried "hard reset" (Comm Mng + Voice buttons and poke reset with stylus) and nothing. Keeps going back to the iPhone skin. Few things do not work, still has scroll bar on side, connection and battery icons and no lock mode. Contact list feels like iPhone, but is not well developed, still has bugs and menus to la-la land.
Please help, I don't know much about WM5 or cell phones.

Yes, id like the cingular wm5 stock rom as well if possible...im having problems after "upgrading" to wm6 too.

Somebody help me to change the version in Windows Mobile 6.1 software. I mean this way can not use an upgrade program like "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe" because the connection to USB phone is down after the restart in Bootloader. Thanks in advance.

hi there, look, you have to "unlock the device", then you will be able to flash a new rom.
but first read, and read again be4 doing anything.

Yes. thanks .. very encouraging .. The idea is that one time I failed and I left the phone without OS had to attend a service to do a new reinstall the software. But give me some details how to proceed? Thanks a lot.
