Overclocking with Batterystatus - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

ok, so i just installed this program which is really great! i was playing around with the settings and i set the cpu to 260 mhz...now by setting this, is it automaticly overclocked? or do i have to do something else? and how do i check if it worked or not...

Look on the today screen. Where it says xxx MHz, the xxx is the processor speed.

right, and it said 260 as soon as i set it...but is that what it really is? because ive seen other methods of overclocking, and non are as simple as this one, so i wanted to confirm

yes that I'd the true speed of the device. if you want to make sure you can can get sktools which will also tell you the exact speed if the device. but the battery status on the today screen is right.

great little program. i just started using direct push again and because of the cpu throttling i feel like i'm not using any more battery.

wow, well i guess this program is really a combo...get good status of my phone and overclocks at the same time without any regedits or installign anything extra

It's the battery temperature....
Check out the homepage at http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm

ever since ive overclocked, ive noticed a quicker battery drain...am i correct, or is it just me because now i have an accurate battery meter on my today screen? lol

has anyone been able to activate the bluetooth indicator? I read the website above, but it didn't say anything. It only said it was a feature.

and which is the highest safe speed?

well i believe the most stable high speed is 260 MhZ, but as i posted earlier, i dont know if it drains the battery more quicker or not...

I find that its pretty accurate. Like I have stated in other threads if your not using the extra power the just click on the speed and if you didnt change the intial settings it will power down to 195mhz.
I would also concur with the 260 being the most stable.

260 is the speed I have all my Wizards running with no issues (that could be attributed to OC'ing) On the homepage of BaterryStatus I noticed that the screen captures indicate that the device used is also running 260...

How does it measure/know the battery temperature? ::: Posted frm my Wizard :::

Hell if I know how he does it, I was wondering the same!

i wish i knew as well, especially since the latest release has the temp in F and not C

I'm running the beta version included in Faria's ROM and you can click on the temp on the Today Screen and it toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
btw, the thread here is at BatteryStatus-Plugin, DeviceLock and Overclock for XDA Neo

This is just a theory of mine. I think that the transistors of the battery that touch the ones on the phone are connected to some type of fail safe that if it gets too hot it will shut down automatically. Just a theory.

You have to be using one of the latest versions of BatteryStatus to get the bluetooth. I'm still using Ver. 0.03.201 with Molski's 3.2 Rom which doesn't have it yet.

WM6: what is your clock speed?

i'm still nervous about overclocking my WM6 rom. especially since over clocking molski's rom always left my touch screen unresponsive even at the slightest clock speed change. it got so bad that i had to hard reset on a business trip and i lost every number and note i had hundreds of miles from home and no computer to sync to.
so what are you guys clocking at?
i'm oced to 240. Everything has been fine so far.
I'm running 299 for 1 week now without any problems, on PDAviet3.
299? hmm well im at 252
299 Mhz all the time with batterystatus.
yup at 229 with battery status also. and have not noticed any problems at all. what can i say, im a speed junkie
wat would u say would be an average overclock speed? dont wanna burn out the battery..
I'm running 230 for 3 days now without any problems, on PDAviet4.

Did you notice any speed increase for just overclocking to 229 or 230MHZ? I didn't see much difference even at 264Mhz. 299Mhz is the minimal speed I can accept. By the way, I didn't see any battery consuming difference between 199, 264 and 299Mhz.
for people with orwells WM6 rom.. wat overclocking speed are you running?
i am @ 273.

my stupid @$$ believed this post and tried that setting and i had to hard reset. ROFLMAO
i'm keeping what works for me this time 247 mhz
Yea also had some problem at 299 but after leaving the device for a few mins I was able to set it to a slower speed and reset.
Always remember that just because one device can do 299 doesn't mean all of them can. There are so many little variances with cpu technology that its not unusual to find 2 cpu's from the same devices that have totally different overclocking capability's.
Our devices must have been made on a Friday henc the fact that we cant go as high as 299
Jules
well i guess that may be it. i have a cingular 8125 cid unlocked and sim unlocked with a g3 chip. and i have always used 260 on battery status at the most. but then i tried 299 and i just love the speed. ive noticed a difference and i like it.i really dont see why you should have to hard reset your device just because of overclocking. thats what i like about ilauncher and pocket plus. it offers that safe mode.
heres the proof.

Another crack at an overclocking app?

For what it's worth...
no2chem has an app he's working on that suppose to overclock the TP to
800mhz.
http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/post/2009/09/06/Touch-Pro-running-at-800MHZ.aspx
I'm not endorsing attempting to overclock anything. The last thing I ever overclocked what a celeron 300, to 450Mhz back in the day LOL, but, for you
hard core types, might want to head over there and read the thread. THE APPLICATION IS NOT AVAILABLE to download yet, I suppose he wants to really make sure your TP does not burst into flames, or cause a rift in the time space thingy
I read through the whole thing. It looks very promising, but is in its starting stages. Hopefully we can see something good come out of it. If we pick up a few hunderd MHZ, im sure it will greatly help the phone out.
Yeah, I've been following the thread also. If they can get it to work...I'm thinking it would be a trade off. Yes, I'll bet anything these chips are a bit underclocked, but, I'm also believing they are underclocked to remain stable.
Plus, anytime you run one over the specs, it just has to have a marked decrease in battery life, and it almost has to heat it up a bit. Those electrons can only run around inside that tiny package so fast before they heat up
I tried the app 2 times on my Fuze running 6.5 Energy Rom. Crashed everytime I tried to run the program. Gonna wait for the finished product to see how it turns out because the "test version" does not.
Ok so why in the world would anyone want to speed this little Gem up?
Running an energyrom i can run AD2P plus read a book or surf the net fine (hell ive even logged onto one of my webhosts from it) without any lag or speed trade off.
Isnt this just going to kill battery and heat the thing up?
you cant play games like quake and tony hawk with default speeds.. overclocking will enable u to play those games without a lag

Battery Over Heating After Flashing Rom D:

So about a week ago i flashed the super eclair beta 3.0 on my MT3G.
it was working fine till one day i noticed my battery started over heating and the rom got really choppy.
than my battery died.
so i got a new battery
but tht wasnt the problem because i flashed a new rom and the same problem keeps happening
is there any solution?
and another is this in the rite place to post this?
sorry im new at this
firstly, wrong section
secondly....are you overclocking your phone? running huge amounts of programs? using wifi-tether or some other high-data throughput applications?
if you answered yes to any of these - stop
Moved as not Android Development.
I am almost certain as to what this could be. My guess is that the ROM you are using has the 10MB RAM hack, and you are using an app of some kind using 3D rendering. This will cause almost the same issues.

i knew that made the battery die, didn't know it caused overheating? none-the-less i very much doubt it's overclocking or running applications. yes, it probably could cause it to overheat, but not so quickly and as intensely.

And that would be the location of the CPU.
Nothing to do with the battery.
Take the suggestions noted. Do not overclock. Do not wifi-tether.
The stock peak CPU speed is 384 MHz. Seems that most roms like to clock it over 500 MHz. There's a REASON why the stock speed is 384!! The faster it spins, the more power runs through it and the more HEAT it produces. If you want to run the thing that fast, you need MORE COOLING.

GPU = 400mhz (default = 300)
BTW, if you like my work, pls buy me a BEER
Clemsyn, thanks for your efforts. any chance of getting your Kernel for Adam CM7?
Well...
...what can I say. It´s freakin' fast! Very quick touch respons. 1500MHz does not seem to be a problem. I was not able to find the specific gorvenor you mention.
Only issue I´ve run into is the auto-rotate. When it rotate to portrait it won´t rotate back to landscape mode. Changing cpu freq. did not help. Actually it seems the sensor does not work, as it only rotate if an app forces it to change mode.
As for beer - alcohol is no good mate! Sorry.
I got a Quadrant score saying 3273, a number My adam has never reach before.
Everything is fast and has a quick and stable responsiveness and surfing the internet is a bless. I would love the HC to have these qualities, maybe you could join the team? Maybe you already are on the team
The 1.5GHz overclock is doing a nice job and there has been no issues.
Still an issue, the sensor to rotate screen.

Good workaround (Kernel/Firmware) against overheating?

Hello guys I got some huge problems here.
I recently switched from my Z2 to the Z3+ and actually like the phone but the overheating is insane and especially kills Pokemon Go through CPU throttling, which runs smoothly on my old Z2 .
So far I am on 253, cleaned it up and tried a self modified and the zach beta9 Kernel and and runs quite bad on both. Is heating a lesser issue of 224? I actually do not want to reflash the whole system to 224 just to find out it doesn't get better.
Also is there a way to undervolt/underclock? I can change settings in Kernel Aduitor but I have the feeling the phone doesn't really care.
Help much appreciated - thanks!
Try Zach beta 8 kernel. Limit max cpu frequency by kernel auditor.
Still it's only your Goodluck if your device cools down. It's a bitter truth about this model.

no there was no thermal improvements between these builds, dont flash your system back
but do underclock and tell us the results!

Edit: Today I have flashed 256, haven't found any improvement. As per my experience 256 haven't brought any noticable change.

Thank you for the replies!
Tested zach beta8, didn't help. Now I am testing http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/orig-development/kernel-om5z-kernel-t3421630/ as suggested and if that doesn't help much also with http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/kill-overheating-flash-zip-t3421782.
And Stamina Mode helps at least a bit.
Statusreport: It always runs bad. But best at the moment with root patched Stock Kernel (253) and that underclocking zip. Although I think that underclocking doesn't really help at all.

Thats what i thought as well i have my own here, its based on another persos post, but i dont remember where...
Anyways, his camera mod worked, but cpu throttle was not tampered with, and it caused a very unbalanced throttling... Ok yay i can use the camera linger and fluently, but when i exit the camera app, i cant use the phone couse its runnig at 348 mhz...
So i i did some modifications to it cpu never get under 840 for little cores, so your phones menues end web browsing are always safe from performance drops.
I made it to be able to play Pokemon go, and achieved a lot better resault than without any changes.. still prefer playing on my shield tablet, but if i dont have it around when theres a lot od pokestops nearby, then this will work for me.
While playing Pokemon go it does not go over 80 degrees, but using snapshat it can get to 85, so dont use snap for to long
Let me know if it worked for you!

Hmm. Still runs ****ty.
Can anyone give me a short guide how to edit thermal and governors?
According to my observations the phone gets hot and then cold. I think the throttle is more aggressive and needed and I want to make it less aggressive.
Update:
I made my own modifications to the thermal engine. It is pretty bad for battery I guess but I had a very good expierence playing Pokemon Go with it today. Yes the phone gets hot. Like it doesn't drop below 70°C while playing and regulary hits 80°C but it works good. No dark screen, no 0 CPUs downclocking. So far it's fine for me, maybe I get squeeze even more out of it.
