couldn't get on 3G after ROM upgrade - P3600 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have my D810 upgraded to the new HK D810 GPS Enabled Rom
(Rom 1.23.708.4, Radio 1.38.00.11)
and since then my 3G is not working quite right, I can get full bar of 3G, but I just couldn't make a call or recieve any call. And I'm on the Cingular network in the US.
Before I upgrade the rom, I can access the 3G with no problem. Now I can make a call only if I force my D810 to stay on the GSM network (2G).
Can somebody help? Or should I downgrade my rom back to the original dopod D810 rom? If yes, where can I find it?
Thanks.

Try using HTC tweaker to turn off HSDPA, that did the trick for me

Does it mean I can never use HSDPA on my D810 ?

ok, I've disable HSDPA, but it still can't make any call on 3G.....
man... now I hate the new rom... I rather don't have GPS but have my phone working...

have you have checked Start-->Settings-->Phone-->Band Tab--> and ensure that the Network Type is "Auto" or "WCDMA" and NOT GSM? and also ensure that the GSM/UMTS band is set correctly? (now, I'm really nervous about using that ROM!!!)

i have all the Band and Network setting right...
some people from the other forum say it is the network issue from Cingular because they are having the same issue, but on other phones.
it is quite weird, i can make a call under 3G in certain area within Chicago, but anywhere near my work office, it won't work...
And as usual, the cingular cs are useless, they don't even know what is going on

Hmmm, it worked on mine. HTweakC did give an error message when I first started the program because my phone is a Trinity and not a Hermes. I just ignored that message. Then after turning off the HSDPA, I exited the program and did a soft reset by pressing the power button for 3 seconds, this way you make sure the change gets saved.
Excuse my ignorance: why would you want to turn HSPDA *off*? To save battery power?

When HSDPA is on, you can't receive a phone call, it goes to voicemail. There is no problem receiving a call in 3G or GSM Edge mode. I don't know if it is a problem with current systems or if that is the way it was intended to work, but I don't want to miss calls because my phone is receiving an email.

Huh? Is that a local thing?
Here in The Netherlands it is no problem at all. When I'm connected to UMTS or HSDPA (on the Vodafone network) I can be connected simulatinously.
So, I receive pushmail when I am on the phone or when I'm surfing I can be called at the same time.
adodesign and Matterhorn: that must be something to do with your provider. I am on T-mobile in the UK and I have no such issue. In fact I just tested it about 10 times in my house where there is a good HSPDA signal. I started downloading a large file at about 850 kbps and phoned myself - my Hermes dropped from "H" to "3G" and the call came through no problem. Once I hung up, it stepped back up to "H" and the download was not interrupted.
ok... i'm in the US using Cingular and i know they have HSDPA enabled in some markets. i have a HTC P3600 and would like to know how i can tell if HSDPA is enabled. if HSDPA enabled by default how would i know? if i have to manually enable it, what are the steps to activate it? thanks for the advice/guidance...

Well I guess it must be something to do with certain providers. I'm not the only one that has reported the busy problem with HSDPA. I'm going to test it again when I go into France to see if it happens there.
3G framework designed to able receive call while data transmitting. Whenever there is incoming calls, it will automatically disconnect data tranmission. However, this feature needs to be fully support by your local carrier.
In 2G network, you will not be able to answer call while data tranmitting. But you will still be able to answer call if GPRS is connected, with no data tranmisting. This is by 2G design, nothing to do with the carrier.
Hope this helps

Its a network issue.
I remeber reading on 3's Website here that it was an issue and a software Update on their network here in aust in April will fix it.
Speak to your provider and see if they are planning a network update soon.

Thanks for that news, I'll give them a call today . I think that it is likely that I'm not even supposed to be receiving HSDPA on this network. Before this phone was released it was reserved for one of those PC card wirless solutions for laptops, which they charge a fortune to use. The roms that come on the Swisscom Trinity has HSDPA disabled. They'll probably tell me that I'm not supposed to use it .
just few words to say that on the SFR network (france) , when i am connected in HSDPA , i can't receive any calls ... they are rediricted to my voicemail

Thanks for that info. I won't bother to check on SFR now. I'll just leave HSDPA switched off for the time being. 3G is good enough for now. This is an app that will turn off HSDPA http://www.fit4cat.de/thread.php?threadid=263 .
There is an application made for the Hermes that I am successfully using on my Trinity that switches 3G on and off. It also will switch off your data at night to save battery life. It creates an icon at the bottom of the screen for quick network change when you want a fast connection. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35394&d=1173876750 .

EDIT : i've just call my provider ,this behaviour is normal , an upgrade from them is necessary to make calls during hsdpa connection , thanx to tdub !

I have the problem, with HSDPA, on Sfr network, i've got a 3G plan, for access to wap! is impossible, but In Web all is allright, with very Hi speed i ever see on mobile
Is it really HSDPA?
I recently flashed my Orange UK Trinity (SPV M700):
WM6.1.Black Edition by Akeo
Radio Radio 1.50.08.11
For the first time I noted that HSDPA was available and then shortly after that I was missing a lot of call's. 3 out of 5 seem calls to go straight to answer phone. My concern is that this seems to happen mainly with calls from mobiles on the same network (Orange UK) and yet rarely (if at all) with calls from land lines. Is this perhaps a red herring?.
After reading this thread I'm hoping that HSDPA is the cause of the issue and that someone can explain how to disable HSDPA on the Trinity device?
I tried HTweakC 2.1b but no luck. HSDPA remained active.

Browsing the NET while on a call

Is this possible? And if so can someone send me a cab file or instructions on how to make this happen. And sorry if this has been addressed already. This is my 1st official post. I have an AT&T Tilt with STOCK HTC AT&T ROM. Just upgraded the HTC Camera with one of the cab files I found on this site. Also I am having a bit of difficulty uninstalling two applications.
Wizard_reTouched_dial2.cab and today_wallpaper_pack.exe
I went to the normal start/settings/system/remove programs and I see them both in the list but i am unable to uninstall them. HELP!!!!!!
As long as you have a 3G / HSDPA / UMTS signal, you will be able to talk and use internet at the same time. If you are only on edge or gprs, you can NOT. This is covered many places in this forum........ Searching is your friend.....
Hey i'm using an AT&T TILT on Tmobile's Network with Stock Rom from HTC "AT&T's"
How can I force my phone or get my phone to use something other than Edge?

Travel to a location where there's clear 3G reception. Unless you've configured your phone away from default settings, it'll automatically default to the most useful signal it can get.
If you're using the stock ATT ROM then use bandswitch. If you're using custom ROM then it's in the phone settings. I use Garmin DK3 Final and it's in the phone settings. I can set it to connect only to UMTS band and only to HSDPA. I cant stand the 2G buzz when ever I'm around any speakers.
Are you referring to the Radio Version
or the actual ROMPaq? I am using AT&T/HTC Stock Rom but I am using the Radio Version from Japan.. 1.71.09.01

From what I know of, Japan uses a different frequency band than the rest of the world for 3G (800MHz). So you might not be able to connect to 3G networks in the US with that radio version. Do you ever see a "3G" or "H" icon for the network status?
No only E of course for EDGE
Cot Darnarbit!!! I might as well go back to the STOCK Radio Version I was running.

Using a UK HTC Touch Diamond in the US

Hi all,
I'm new to MDAs and to these forums so bear with me. I looked around quite a bit and have been unable to resolve my issue. I obtained an HTC Touch Diamond (a T-mobile Compact IV) in the UK and am trying to get it working in the US. While in the UK there were no connection issues but as soon as I got to the US the connection is unstable. I have managed to make about 10 calls in the US but they cut out after a short time and most of the time I cannot make a call or cannot connect to a network at all. It can always see Tmobile and AT&T but can rarely connect, and when connected can rarely call. I have flashed the TLR 3.08.07.16 WWE ROM and updated the radio ROM to 1.09.25.23
Any help would be greatly appreciated
from my basic knowledge of radio, uk networks use gsm while most us networks use cdma that mite be your problem!!
try going to start>settings>phone (in the personal tab)> scroll to the band tab and change ur network from auto to wcdma!! you may also have to change the band setting your using, but u may have to check with your network on what frequency they use
Thanks for the suggestion. Thus far I have only been able to connect on GSM, CDMA has never worked. I also have been using the 850 1900 band which I heard is the one used in the US. I have connected occasionally but am still having trouble.

No Service

I am not sure if this the right place for this discussion but I've got a problem and need help. My ATT Tilt works fine in my home service area (3G Network) with 4 bars consistently and drops the connection as soon as I leave it. I've Tweak the setting, stripped the software off except for the basics, hard set the phone, and nothing works. ATT replaced the phone twice but didn't solve the problem. I leave my area and No Service. I travel a lot so this is a major problem. Is there a solution?
WM6.1
ROM Version 3.57.502.2 WWE
Radio 1.65.21.18
hmm not sure if it helps..
I read somewhere that if U turn of 3G and use normal GSM, it might help...
maybe other areas do not have 3G network and only normal GSM networks?
Thanks...I installed "Enable Band Page (Tilt Rom).CAB" and changed the GSM/UMT Band settings. Now the phone works out of area.
and how did you come across that cab file?

[Q] Only get 3G coverage, not GSM. Why?!

Hi, i bought an used HTD Diamond 2, but i cannot use it as a telephone. It only works on 3G nets, and doesnt get coverage from GSM nets. I have not 3G coverage on all places i used to stay during the day.
At home i can do calls because i have 3G coverage but if i set it to GSM only (via telephone menu options setting only GSM) it losts the coverage and i get a tlephone brick until i change the settings to 3G UMTS again.
I have tried all radios listed for Diamond2 with the last oficial 2.53.412.3 ROM. If i put a radio 3.x.x it starts to reboot to infinite, and i need to get the battery out to get it flash again. If i put a 4.x.x.x radio it works good at all (GPS, Bluetooth, UMTS) except for GSM.
Any idea?

Try going into Settings\Connections\Connections and verify your set up for your carrier.
What I need to verify exactly? I have coverage with my supplier but only in places with 3G-UMTS.
sounds good
