How To Flash SPL AND IPL - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have an 8125 Fully unlocked(Cingular Service).
I Installed XDA Mobile 6. I have radio rom 2.19
I want to upgrade the IPL And SPL.
How shoould I go about this.
What should i go for.
2.6 or 3.x
I am a total newb but i am getting the hang of this.
I looked cant find a simple answer.
Thanks

There is no need to u upgrade your ipl and spl really.. they are just security things.. there is NO difference between any of them as far as I am concerned. Trying to flash them just means more of a chance youll brick your phone.

Also Forgot to add my phone is a G3

I dunno, I just dont find a need to mess with the ipl/spl .. mine is a G4.. I just leave it alone, I could flash it if I wanted to, but what for... it doesnt make a difference in performance or anything.

Don´t mess with your bootloader.....
Mr Madcap is right!
Just to save you a some minutes searching and reading around the site here´s a couple of comments:
Yesterday I read around the forums a comment from someone who said that "the higher the number of your IPL/SPL the higher the trouble for you"
I read also a comparison between 2.x and 3.x bootloaders and the difference is probably 6 to 8 seconds to boot up, being faster the 3.x!! Personally, I rather wait few seconds than wait weeks for the service man returning my repaired phone from dead.
Don´t believe me? Read this:

Newbee on Wizard upgrade.. scared.. pls help

I have a newly bought Cingular 8125 in India. I would love to Upgrade that.
Though the box says it is for UK, I can use with the service providers in India.
I assume it is unlocked already.(is it really?)
This is my device information at boot:-
IPL: 2.25
SPL: 2.25
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.25.11.1
I am planning to use Molsky.Biz ROM available here:-
RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_WWE (G3 Device. IPL/SPL like: 2.xx)
I hope my device is G3.
Do I need to CIDUnlock my device? What is the FullUnlock?
Molsky.Biz says:-
" Also DO NOT FORGET to CID UNLOCK your Wizard. This is only possible with LokiWiz 0.2b and
IPL/SPL 1.xx, if you have a CID LOCKED Wizard with IPL/SPL 2.xx.0001 flash a G4 Rom !! "
But My IPL/SPL is not 1.xx as you can see above in my details.
What should I do to unlock? Do I need to do that at all?
and what is meant by AKU? Do I need that?
I sold my nokia and communicator to buy this phone. So dont want to brick it because of my ignorance!
Please guide me.
Many Thanks.
Read this thread and follow it

Your phone is a G3. If the IPL and SPL has more than 2 digits after the first decimal (ie: 2.xx.xx) then it's a G4.
As for unlocking, that confuses the bejesus out of me.
I would say download the G3 ROM, figure out how to unlock your phone (if possible) and then you should be good to go.
You SHOULD be scared given all the threads around here from people who trashed their phones. And I'd bet few of them could give a straight answer as to why they wanted to do so in the first place. So before you do anything, define why you want to update the rom. Does it do something specific that you absolutely can't live without and makes it worth the risk of ruining the phone? Maybe a custom rom is a tiny bit faster but in a day's time, will it make any difference? Probably not, and an operator rom that's a tiny bit slower is still a LOT faster than a dead phone. Don't forget that the moment you start flashing with anything but an operator approved rom, you're out of warrantee. if you absolutely MUST update the rom, then start reading the link above. Every question you asked has already been answered here many, many times. Is your phone a G3 or a G4? Better know BEFORE you start. Oops...you're at 55% and your PC crashes...what do you do? Better know BEFORE you start. The phone reboots and won't go past the splash screen, what do you do now? Better know BEFORE you start.
Thank you all for the replies.
The main reason for flashing it to the new rom was speed and space considerations.
I was owning an XDA Mini earlier and successfully did the BigStorage and Rom updates.
But seeing many users bricking their wizard here and being not sure about the 'unlocking thing' i've decided to atleast not to venture into the bleeding edge atleast during my warranty period.
I know many questions might have been answered many a times, but the answers too are very contextual, they are different for different versions / models etc.
Hopefully I will do it sometime next year!
i would vote the warranty period is the best time to do it.. then you can tell your provider you tried to update their rom and now your phone dont work and let them send you a replacement...
Flashing isnt all that scary, the first time its a little nerve racking, but then again i like living on the edge...
So if your gonna do it, here is a quick simple explanation...
Downgrade to a 1.xx rom from the FTP site, after the your IPL/SPL should show 1.xx during boot up (mine actually differed, had IPL 1.xx SPL 2.xx and still unlocked just fine, some people claim to have issues though)
after successfully booting run lokwiz 2b (its the one i used) do the sim and supercid unlock.
Then reflash a stock 2.xx rom so that you are sure to get the updated bootloaders, after that has completed successfully then flash any rom you want..
its that simple, just a little time consuming
How to copy the cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running lokiwi
Please disreegard below. Just found it.
Thanks..
I am kind of new in this.
I want to unlock the device but do not know how to
copy the cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running lokiwiz.
I will appreciate your help on this so I can continue with the upgrades.
Thanks in Advance.
1 - Unzip lokiwiz02b.zip to somewhere (extract to c:\lokiwiz) in your computer
2. Connect your phone via ActiveSync to your PC . Browse your phone with File Explorer from your PC.
3 - Copy EnableRapi.cab to your Wizard (My Document)
4 - Execute the EnableRapi.cab in your phone. Wait for it to finish
5 - Guarantee that your phone is connected via activesync with the computer
6 - Execute lokiwiz.bat (from your computer run c:\lokiwiz\lokiwiz.bat, double click on that file) and follow the instructions on your screen...
7 - Select Option U to unlock your Wiz.

how2 upgrade spl/ipl

Hey guys,
just a small question here, how do I upgrade my spl/ipl from 2.21 to the latest, 2.26, without messing with my otherwise fine working 5._underground installation? tnx a bunch for any help!
btw, anyone interested how I flash my wizard and get it -fully- back in shape in under 30 mins? (yes, I mess my wizard up reguarly)
spl/ipl is not included in the underground rom(?)
flash a rom with the spl/ipl you want, then flash the underground again
Before upgrading your IPL/SPL be sure you don't have a G4 model. If so don't upgrade cause that would brick your phone.
make sure u know which version ur Wizard is, G3 or G4...after doing so, u wanna CID unlock your deivce, theres a sticky of how to do that...and in the CID unlock tutorial, it will tell u how to get IPL/SPL 2.26(good base for ROMS)...basicly u install the T-Mobile ship 2.26 ROM which has it...and after that, ur ready to move over to WM6 or any other ROM...
tnx
tnx for the feedback. too bad one has to revert back to the shipped rom, and then flash the pda again to use one's preferred os. Should have thought of that before I guess.
is it worth the trouble to get to 2.26 in stead of 2.21? What exactly does spl/ipl sw do?
IPL/SPL.. I think it is like.. Initial Program Loader and Secondary Program Loader? which is like the BIOS on your PC. In most cases, it will not cause any problems, many seems to be alright getting new ROM without touching the IPL/SPL. However, I think there are several cases with Underground WM6 that, you need a "strong" IPL/SPL for it to work. So, I guess it must be doing something. Just check the thread on your preferred ROM and see if others are fine using your current IPL.. and then you decide if it is worth upgrading.
sorry for my ignorance..
i just want to clarify something..
does upgrading to newer IPL/SPL version affects the speed of device?

Interesting question.. as far as I know, there isnt anyone actually compared IPL before. Most IPL came together with new ROM as a package and when things went better (or worse), it is usually the ROM that takes the credit (good or bad). HOWEVER, even so, in some cases, the apparent speeding up of your phone is due to a `clean OS` rather than a `new OS`. Which is like what you get if you get yourself a new WinXp installed. Phone wise, it may be due to the plugin you've installed, the amount of files and contacts in your phone, etc.
As like what I've tested for my good old Charmer here, the result doesn't show much improvements on the new ROM, an improvements of approx 3-6% read/write speed are unlikely to be noticable. 6% is like people telling you that he/she can feel that the room temperature has dropped/raised by 1.5oC in a 25oC room, or tell you the speed difference between a 7200rpm 7632rpm(not exist) hardisk.
Crap aside. I dunno the answer to your question and I don't think there are any people who've tested solely on IPL/SPL performance without a ROM.
thanks for your explanation.. maybe someday we'll know..
consider IPL/SPL as the bios of the device, for those who know computer terminology, u can flash the bios of the motherboard, just as u can flash the wizard with a new ipl/spl as s base...hope u understand it...

ok.. here's mine..
i have IPL 1.01 and SPL 2.26
observe them.. they are different.. one is version 1.xx and the other one is 2.xx
as the people say here in xdev "wm6 is more faster and stable"..
it seems that for me its not..
because i always have lockups and my device is too slow..
Is it maybe because i have an old version of IPL 1.01?..
hhmm.. maybe if i try to upgrade to 2.26-IPL, my wm6 will result to "faster and stable ROM" as other says
or maybe because i came from a himalaya device wich has 400mhz compared to wizard that has 200mhz and thats why i feel slow to it??..
..I dont know.. just my thought..
Yeah, forgot to mentioned this. IPL/SPL does seems to affect WM6. If you read the Undergound WM6 thread, bit at the end, there are people suffering from .. splash screen hanging issues by not having an up to date IPL/SPL. The problem seems to be solved after that guy flashed his IPL/SPL with an official (if I remember correctly) IPL/SPL. This issue is a bit unique, as G4 Wizard doesn't have means of unlocking the CID (with out paying £ £), and hence, currently, flashing the WM6 only flash the ROM portion. Is yours a G4?
Mine is G3..
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.26
i think i have a version 2 bootloader because i have sucesfully flashed a 2.xx radio ROM..
Ill try to upgrade my IPL to something 2.xx and ppost the result and comparison wether they it changes the performance or not..

If I was you I would read the topic on unlocking the CID en flash it to 2.26
ipl / spl
Tnx Malik.
If it's anything like with a desktop, the bios would be worth upgrading only when experiencing hardware or performence problems. So when a new ROM comes out with new ipl/spl it's probably nessecary for the rom to work. I would say leave 2.21 as it is, but for double_ofour it's probably better to upgrade to bennefit from the newer roms and lock-ups may go away.
sounds logical?

u got it right for the most part, but u wanna keep it at 2.26, not 2.21
ipl / spl
I Agree 2.26 would be the newest and is apparantly not causing problems. After some flashing though i seem to have 2.21 now, wich allso works fine. dunno if downflashing to a shipped rom with 2.26 and then flashing again to underground rom is worth the trouble.

reset and hold the camera button, you will see a 3 color screen...connect to the PC it should say usb in the bottom of the device screen....now install the latest update from your carrier.
PS
for future reference if you device is ended CID unlocked you do not need to use shelltools...just use the update utility provided by the rom.
also this info has been posted 1 trilion times

Its not that hard to look at the stickies (thats were the really important stuff is located).

thank you faria, bwesty and mfrazzz. I got to the bootloader screen and reflashed it with the latest tmobile rom. I'm sorry ive been asking so many questions, but i've been getting some mixed answers.
like someone told me (ill give the link to prove it) that flashing the latest tmobile rom will cid unlock your device. Im pretty sure thats not the case. And faria i did your latest rom and it got stuck at 99%, and i figure thats because it's not cid unlocked
i did search the forums mfrazzz and it came to no avail. You're right, if i looked really hard i could have found it somewhere, deep in a thread, but what do you expect from someone who just thought he bricked his $400 phone?
there should be a section for itself titled "I just broke my phone, how do i fix it" And inside that thread there should be every way to fix every situation. And i dont mean buried, i mean in the first post. Just a thought, it would have really helped and stopped me from bothering you guys
But as for now im going to go to the sheeltool thread and see if they can help me, i still can't get that to work.
thanks again

A really useful thread (besides the WIKI is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613 it, by the way, is the very first item on the WM6 forum, this forum has Dr. P's EXCELLENT thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435 plus other useful stickies) It seems that your phone is 'working' after flashing the TMo 2.26, the first thing you need to do is find out if you have a G3 or a G4, then CID unlock appropriately. Skip the shelltool stuff for now, if you don't understand what phone you have, you will be on the road to "brick city".

demontefixo thanks for the quick reply
but, i do know things about my phone, i just have little questions that no one really explains throughly. I know i have a g3, i know about cid unlocking and how to do it. I've into the registry on both my (ex) tmobile dash and now the mda. I'm currenty looking for the best new rom that i want to flash, but i can't void my warranty and that's why im using shell tools. I've been reading this forum for quite a while, and i don't consider myself a newbie (i cant control what other people think) but i do need help on certain areas, and im sorry for even needing that

CID unlocking (as far as I know) won't void your warrantee--at least it hasn't voided mine (TMo US), but YMMV. That said, it isn't a bad thing to ask for help, (cross posting is generally frowned on) we like to help people who aren't lazy or stupid.
When you do post for help, generally the more info provided the better, but I sense you know that. If your phone is a G3, I am not really sure why you are seeking help in the G4 forum....anyway.
IMHO, Faria's WM6 works really well, and I haven't had serious issues with it. There are others that love different ROMs or will cook their own, great! Nottoosmart has a good looking ROM (a Mun derivative ROM) everyone will have an opinion, I know what works well for me. So "what is the best"? Hmm Faria's WM6 (for me).

While keeping your phone CID Locked does keep you from voiding your warranty in that respect, flashing a custom rom on your phone will technically void your warranty also (although unless do something nasty to it, you should be able to get it back to the official rom and with it still CID locked then you should be fine). Example: You flash the latest and greatest WM6 on your phone and then your USB connector breaks and your SD slot doesn't work. You now can't get back to WM5 so they will know if they look. Far fetched, but I'm just throwing it out that if you are really concerned about your warranty, flashing custom roms may not be a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you not to do it, I'm just saying that doing pretty much anything in the upgrading and WM6 forums here is basically voiding your warranty. But I think in most cases, the carriers don't look that close.
And please ask for assistance when you have issues. There are so many posts though, its hard to tell who has really read and who hasn't sometimes. Just remember that the stickies at the top of the forums are your friends and there is really good info there to help you get unstuck (most of the time).
i love you guys

IPL doesnt change anymore! (1.01)

I have a CID unlocked wizard which has seen many roms, without any problems.
Lately I upgraded to IPL/SPL 3.08 and tried the touchflo rom.
Since it didnt work as expected, i presumed i needed to go back to the button rom before burning yet another rom.
Guess that was a mistake. I am now stuck on IPL 1.01 ! Whatever I do, cant get it to go to anything higher. Tried 2.26 IPL/SPL only, the full t-mobile version, the 3.08 again (which gives me spl 3.08 only this time), the german rom etc.
All that changes is the SPL. Tried installing enablerapi again, no result.
I can always get back to 1.01 IPL/SPL but THAT's IT ! NO other ROM works anymore!
What to do, what have i done....
You mean you can flash and work with Button ROM?
If so why not try to go from there to Qtek WWE 1.06, then 2.17 or 2.26?
tried flashing to 1.06 .. and got at 96% that the NBF was no good for my device.
However it changed the spl to 1.01.0000 instead of 1.01.
you should flash the buttom or love rom over and over again til you get both spl and ipl to 1.xx. people in the the threads have commented that sometimes it could take up to 8 flashes or more to eventually get it to work...dunno what causes it, but afterwards, flashing to a carrier rom should be fine...
good luck
Please read my first post.
I can get both IPL and SPL the same without a problem.
Both are 1.01 at that point.
I have been burning ROMs for a year now, so I know about this stuff already.
It must have something to do with going back from 3.08.
I have been on 3.08 both IPL and SPL dont forget!
At 1.01/1.01 IPL/SPL I still can not burn any ROM without error.
It wasnt like this before, have been on high numbers already.
after trying yet another operator ROM, gone back to IPL/SPL 1.01/Button ROM.
(shouldnt it say 1.05 btw?)
Button doesnt fully install anymore.. it gets stuck at about 98% after discobuttons.cab on the extended rom installation.
maybe that is a hint?
should i reinstall enableRAPI and cert_spcs before upgrading? my phone is cid unlocked for sure, and the service tool also says it is.
UPDATE: * installing xda mini..
* it got me 1.01 / 1.05
* reinstalling mini
* install also stops on signed discobuttons.sa.cab

It means you can take it as far as installing extended_rom? Why don't you soft-reset the phone when the message of the 3 seconds appear?
if you're just installing button rom as a step to higher roms why the extended_rom? Simply forget about it and install 2.xx
No roms worked anymore, so tried ipl/spl 2.26 together with the installer from button.. it gave me 2.26 on spl again. NO change still on IPL.
IPL seems pretty stuck on 1.01.
in case it helps, are you flashing on windows xp or windows vista?
Here, try this. It's IPL/SPL 1.05 only. I'm not sure if it will work but it's worth a try.
It gives me 1.01 / 1.05 ....
trying multiple times .. hold on
tried 10 times.. ipl 1.01 spl 1.05
giving it few more tries on button
oh windows xp professional 32bit ..
trying love, buttong all in a row again.. still on IPL 1.01 SPL 1.01.
I think i found a new way to brick a wizard, goto 3.08 and back to 1.01
However, I think the phone not fully installing the extended rom must be a hint, since it usually had no problems with this.
Now on love and button, it stops at discobuttons.
Hate to tell you this, but I'm out of ideas at the moment. If I think of something, I'll let you know though.
Just a quick thought though, did you try removing the battery for about a half hour or so and then trying it again?
will leave battery out all night and try again tomorrow.
apart from the 'not being able to fully install extended rom' another thing that is remarkable is that the wizard service tool says I don't have a Wizard, after that however the info is correct (wiza200, cid unlocked etc).
further most ROM installers now crash at about 95% with error 320 saying the NBF is not made for my device.
is there anyone that has succesfully been on ipl/spl 3.08, down to button and up to 3.08again?
something else, the bootscreen doesnt show a GSM ROM version anymore, is that normal on ipl 1.01, could it be that i need to downgrade to certain gsm version ?
^$%#$ i dont think i can get the t-mobile service department to fall for my bricked mda excuses for a second time.
was pretty proud i got them to fix it for free first time i bricked it.. but this is different hehe....
(in case you wonder: 24volts made them not discover the cid lock, just created a bigger problem for the phone so they gave me whole new pcb.. i said the powersuply caused it )
The person that I was helping on that other thread successfully got his from 3.08 down to 1.01 and then back again. It wasn't easy, but getting theirs back up was a walk in the park compared to yours. I seriously hope that leaving the battery out over night does the trick because I'm pretty much at a loss as to what else to do.
It not showing a gsm version shouldn't be a big deal. You said that your rom installers are shutting down at 95% so it just may not be installing the radio, but your wizard should still operate without it. You just wouldn't be able to do any phone related things like make calls etc. but everything else should still work.
Don't worry about the wizard service tool saying that it isn't a wizard, it says that when I run it on mine too.
Just a thought, and definitely not a suggestion since you mentioned the 24v thing, do you have insurance on it? Accidentally dropping it in the bathtub might help solve your problem, not that I would ever condone insurance fraud or anything like that. All you would be out would be whatever your deductible is, although if your deductible is like mine it still wouldn't be cheap. I'd still give a little more time before doing anything rash anyway.

good idea, but on the limit for this kind of thing for this phone as you can understand from the 24v issue
now at work, phone doing without battery all night... told him it is final warning, maybe taking his juice away will make him realise it is time to get to life
LOL Good idea. Tell it that if it doesn't decide to straighten up and start working you're going to run it over with your car. That ought to make it decide to work again'
So did it fix it?
oh man it got really angry with me.
on the wizardlove rom i had no radio @ all. but no charging or power info either!
you guessed it, been playing with wires and a 1.5v-12v powersupply set on 4.5v. Since it was doing it's paperweight imitation on me.
Got power back on 39%, going for a uuh 41% walk of my labrador.
Keep you posted.
Btw, extended rom in wst is unknown... is that any hint?
could protocol version be a hint?
next thing i try is flash another radio first, turn around the sequence.
Hmm, with the things that are hapening right now, no radio and the extended rom being unknown, I'm starting to think maybe the rom you're flashing has somehow become corrupted. You don't really need to worry about the ROM or the radio too much anyway, that shouldn't really have any bearing on whether you can get your IPL up or not. Try just flashing the 1.05 IPL/SPL update or the 2.26 update again and see if leaving the battery out for a while finally lets you upgrade it.

8125 bootloader stuck

ok, im inbetween a newb and a full out destructive force to any type of moddable device and im having a little bit of trouble with my cingular 8125. ive had this phone for a few months and i am having the hardest time dealing with the rom on the phone now. ill give a quick breifing on it:
got it with original cingular rom, not sure what spl or ipl on it but the first thing i did was unlock it by myself, cid and sim unlocked, and then updated to a jaguar wm 6.1 rom which worked fine. decided i was going to unfortunately sell this phone so i decided to upgrade it one more time to see if i really wanted to sell it, i then bought the upgrade to go past my 2.21 ipl and spl. i got my unlocker and followed my instructions and got a brick. but not a full brick. its stuck in the bootloader screen. after reading countless threads, i learned that i should be able to just still update a rom to the phone with no problems which actually works, but as soon as a rom completes it goes right back to my bootloader screen so help me! please cuz now thats its a challenge again, i want the phone! plus all my info is on the phone still back up
Flash the official stock ROM first, then use Button's ROM to downgrade your IPL and SPL before unlocking CID.
post the present IPL/SPL it displays now.Which rom you are trying to flash now ?
ok when i try to put the most current 8125 rom on my phone (2.25.blah) it tells me that its not the same phone which is weird but thats preventing me from putting the original rom on the phone. however if i try and put the buton rom on the phone now, it will go through completely and say it put it on the phone, but when it restart, its right back to the bootload screen...
and im running IPL 2.21.0001 and SPL 2.21 with a previous installation of a jaguar rom, dont know exactly which one, but i know it was a jaguar rom. but right before i tried to upgrade the updater, i went back to my default WM5 rom so i guess it was te basic 2.21 rom on the phone with WM5

WEIRD !
You got mixed Bootloaders of G3 And G4,IPL 2.21.0001 is G4 and SPL 2.21 is G3,as you posted, well, can't say which was original, only you can tell, but some how its mixed Bootloaders,in this situation no Rom will flash, its a 'Brick'.
If as Zabardast says its bricked then you have three options:
1. Get a new Wizard
2. Get a new Wizard Motherboard
3. Get a Wizard with broken LCD from eBay and replace its LCD with your current one and Enjoy!!! (Cheapest)
lol this is tough! but no worries, ill be back with some other pda at some point and time and then ill try and take this phone apart! but the weird thing about my wizard is that this only happened when i tried to update the phone with the CID unlock program that you have to pay for!
lol it was perfectly fine until i tried to do it! oh well, back to my crappy p168!
May be that CID Unlock program was not meant to be for a G3 and you were updating a G3 so it mixed you IPL/SPL and caused a kinda BRICK. So please be careful before doing flashing things because if you dont be carefull then your PPC may become a heavy paper weight, and a costy one too. LOL. TC

Ok guys i am really pissed i have been looking for three days and cant find it, first off my IPL is at 1.01 and the SPL is at 2.25 and i cant fix it i wanted to install the original 2.25 again and start from scratch but can not find the damn thing so if anyone has it can u just upload it fo me and give me a link that i can get it at please i am sick and tired of waitnin i really like this phone and i dont want to risk bricking it thanks.
Ok, grimgod, aggression is reaaaallly ugly and no freakin one will help with that sh!t attitude (pardon the language, mods). The senior members do everything they can to help the noobs. Have you tried reading the flashing guide, wiki, or tutorial? I'd bet even money you haven't. Have you CID unlocked? Did you flash the button rom twice ( as the guide suggested to get ipl/spl both 2.xx)? Did you flash the official tmo rom (found im the flashing guide)? Have you done anything other than sit on your hands and wait for it to be handed to you? READ AND SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831 <HERE!!!!!!!!!! Should I flash your device, too?
Similar issue... need some Wizard Expertise
I picked up a coworkers old Cingular 8125 that he'd had in a drawer for about a year. Battery was right dead so the phone wouldn't boot. I charged the battery on an external charger for a few minutes, put it back into the phone, and plugged it in to the charger until the LED went green indicating a full charge.
When I power up I see the T-Mobile splash screen (light gray background, some square dots, and the "T-Mobile" logo). And there it stays indefinitely.
Tried a hard reset (Comm Mgr + Voice Cmd + Soft Reset), and it said "Press Send to restore factory default". Pressed the green dialer key (I assume that's send), and it says Format FAT partition, FAT partition complete, and then returns to the same T-Mobile splash screen and hangs there.
So then I tried putting it into Boot Loader manually (Power On + Camera). No problem, shows IPL 2.26 and SPL 2.26. Plug it into the computer USB port (running XP Pro), and then the USB connection shows on the phone. Attempted to flash the Wizard Love ROM to get this thing back to square-one. Error 260. Attempted to flash the T-Mobile stock ROM. Error 260.
Between each flash attempt, I'm pulling the battery out and starting fresh. I think I've followed all the steps I'm finding in multiple threads. But for some reason I'm not able to get this thing to communicate via USB. All RUU's give an Error 260. Am I missing something?
Forgot to mention I'm following the steps outlined in this thread from Dr P. To the letter!
Also did a little reading up on using the MTTY method in this thread by Drug_Store. Thought maybe the existing ROM might be intact, and I might be able get it to a 256MB MiniSD, then write the backup ROM from SD in boot loader. Well, for some reason I don't even see the USB connection option when I use the MTTY - can't ever get to a point where I can issue commands. Again, I think I'm following the instruction. But still no juice.
Nudge, nudge. I'd donate for a solution that works... otherwise I have to keep letting my 10 year old play The Quest on my phone.
