Has any Mac user had success with Baniaczek's ROM and Missing Sync via USB? I keep getting a port used by something else message and no-one has yet been able to explain how to fiddle the ports.
Also, I cannot get it to work with my Bluetooth GPS and TOMTOM.
Help please.

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their Infrared port on thier wizard. I have not been able to get mine working since the stock Cingular rom. Are their any .cab files or other drivers that may get this thing to work again or some diagnostics program? I'm running modified 2.24.10.1. ext 2.25.11.102 Tried a search but came up empty. I kind of miss being able to beam and sync via infrared.
Im not sure if its a problem with your IRDA, I have a feeling that the new activesync does not sync over IR.
Thanks Herman. I think I did hear about some removed features or problems with the new activesync. But my wizard will not beam or receive beams either. It really didn't bother me unitil I wanted to try the new Novii software and realize that my Infrared stoped working sometime ago. Any suggestions?
i could wirelessly connect via infrared with the latest activesync
Could it possibly be a hardware malfunction? I seems unlikely to me because of the few glitches this device reportedly had, IRDA wasn't one of them. Man I really hope its not a hardware problem.
it could very well be the hardware that's broken, i can't really image a way to test it properly so you know. Waht i do know if the device is within guarantee just send it back you get a new one
My IrDA works fine as well. ActiveSync 4.xx works with IrDA as well. The only problem I have is new laptops don't come with IrDA any more. However, they do come with Bluetooth and I use BT to do ActiveSync. No need to line up the ports and I can sync up to 30 feet away.
I suppose I could send it back in, I just did not want to go throught the trouble of locking it back up and putting the stock rom back on it. I know for a fact that it was working at one point because lined the port up with my laptop and it started to load wm modem drivers for some reason. Also it may very well be my ir port on my laptop because I cannot access my wireless link icon. Everytime I click it it does nothing. I forgot I had an old T-Mobile MDA collecting dust, so I'll try to beam to it.
Aaaah we.ll i had the idea you would have allready tried it on more then one device. Try send data(vcard, picture) by ir to a random phone that has an ir port and of course try reveiving something.
Good luck!
My mda worked perfectly, with my laptop that is. Could not sent or receive anything with the 8125. My last and final attempt will be a downgrade to to the stock rom, which is the last time I remember it working.
Need help. Trying to set up blue tooth on cingular 8125. Just bought new kensington bt and it set up serial com as com 4 and 5. The phone only gives u the option of com 6 and com 7. Any ideas? The BT does connect to phone but activesync cant find phone. Tried activsync 4.1 and 4.2. Thanks in advance for help.
I'm having the same trouble. i scoured this and other forums but can't find any info on this problem. I think we may need to upgrade the rom on our phones. I'm still running the stock rom and i think if we upgrade that might correct the problem.
I talked to the support team at HTC about this issue, they say that the activesync feature is a function of the drivers that are loaded onto your PC. If you pair your phone and don't see activesync as an available option, then try to upgrade or reinstall your BT driver. I wouldn't have thought it would work, but a simple uninstall and reinstall of my existing bluetooth software fixed the problem for me.

This is the simpliest method to fix the problem.
I had many bad rounds of this and finally did a reinstall of the bluetooth and then Active"stink" (crappy program for many reasons).
You have to make sure that you can identify the port that you 8125 establishes a bluetooth session with beforee you try to sync with. This port number is used in Activesync to know which port to talk through.
Please make sure that in the connections of Activesync that you choose the port for which you identified as bluetooth connected to your device.
THEN try to re-establish a bluetooth Activesync connection from your 8125 (pair it if you need to) and "bing" there should the option for Activesync.

If you guys still have problems with this after let me know. I played with this for a few hours about a month ago and could retrace my steps. A couple of phone reboots after setting up the ports helped
Just to add, I noticed that once I upgraded the ROM to Summiter's 2.25 I was able to walk out of BT range and when I returned re-sync via ActiveSync without doing a soft-reset of the phone.
As SK7575 said, be sure to post there are plenty of folks using this connectivty option and it does work....
And I had this working - nicely syncing between my cingular 8125 and laptop via BT!!
But then I tried to get my 8125 to connect to my new wireless network - which did not work - and in the process of trying everything I must have broken something, because now after trying everything imaginable I just never see that activesync service on my 8125 any more.
The last I tried was to remove all the BT serial ports from device manager after deleting them from the HP bluetooth neighborhood (I have a bigger HP laptop with built in BT).
Then rebootet and four new BT ports were found and installed. Then I told the HP software to make a new incoming port (they call it service) and got COM 5. Then I told activesync on the PC to use COM5 for syncing.
Made sure all pairing was removed. booted both the HTC and PC - paired the two - bang - no 'activesync' service.
Now I am running out of options especially as I don't know how to un- and reinstall the HP software that comes with the laptop.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Gunter
I also have the HP BT stack on my laptop and ActiveStink does not sync with my MDA.
Any answers here, may help get me synced via BT.
Is the trick to see which USB port comes alive when I connect MDA via USB?
and use that on my PC for ActiveSync to listen to via BT on my laptop?
Thanks

I'd be glad to hear if someone has the Belkin F8T012 USB dongle and that they have that working with bluetooth ActiveStink.
'Cause everything I've tried, I never ever see the "Activesync" profile appear on my device when pairing, I only see an available Serial Port.
Does anyone know the details of how that active sync profile is cretaed on the 'puter? If I could troubleshoot from that angle, I bet I'd have it working...

I am trying to share internet from my Tilt to my laptop via bluetooth. I have searched the forums and google for days now and can not get it to work. I have the phone and computer paired and I am using a Jabra A320 BT adapter with the latest drivers from Jabras website with Duttys ROM. The DUN service is recognized on both the laptop and the Tilt, but when I try to start DUN on the laptop, I get a message that says "error 678: the remote computer did not respond. For further assistance..." I appreciate any help or a point in the right direction. I am new to DUN and bluetooth, but not 100% computer dumb. My Tilt as a USB Modem works fine, but can't get the BT to work. I just am inexperienced at BT, and on another note, is it possible to ActiveSync my Tilt via BT?
I have still been unable to get this to work? Can some one please point me in the right direction to get this going? I have everything paired have tried multiple solutions including uninstall/re-install... I can't get it to work and it is frustrating the hell out of me!
hi all im trying (yes trying not succeeding) to get a connection between my laptop and vario 3.
after a LOT of searching trying, reinstalling windows and re flashing my vario 3 with defferent roms i stil Dont have any luck.
i can get a bluetooth serial port connection on port 5 between my vario 3 and pc and thats about it.
no matter what i do or wich program i use i simply cant get it to work.
one thing that really annoys me about gpsgate is that, i set its output port to example port 5 , then it wont connect if i made a serial port 5 connection via bluetooth.
if i turn off the serial port 5 connection, no errors but gpsgate WONT connect.
can anyone here help me??, infact is there anyone at all who has EVER got this to work.
googling yields many results ,none of them usefull
please help im at my wits end on this one

... I was just wondering if anyone has a solution that allows the Nexus One to be used as a USB modem in Mac OS.
I know I can use WiFi tethering and I know of PDANet, I am not looking for alternative solutions but rather to find out if the FroYo USB tethering functionality can be used with Mac OS X (Snow Leopard).
Any help is appreciated.
well before someone comes up with a real answer (since i dont have osx) the easiest thing to do is just plug in the n1 to usb and not mount the device and turn on wifi tethering. This way its charging and being your hotspot.
Why dont you just try to see if the usb tether on froyo works on your macbook and tell us what happens? It could possibly only take 10 minutes to flash froyo plug in, test (stay there if its works), and nandroid restore (if it doesnt).

I have of course tried this and nothing happens, it is not mapped as a network card like it is if I reboot into Windows 7.
Furthermore, I have searched and found several posts saying that it does not work due to a lack of drivers in Mac OS.
However, this being XDA and the innovative nature of many of the people on this forums made me think that someone may have a solution that works.
Linux drivers
If any one can provide hints where the Linux drivers that that add USB tethering ability can be found ? May be we are just able to port them with little modifications if any would be needed at all.
The problem is
Simply and has been for ages (since HTC had this kind of USB tethering integrated since the Hero days) that the solution google uses probably is the same as htcs it relies on rndis, which OSX has no proper support for. RNDIS is perfectly supported on OS level in windows and Linux but not in OSX.
Apple has dropped the ball on this protocol for ages, but up until now this has not really hurt but now it does somewhat (thankfully Google also has provided Wifi tethering, which is an easy fix to the problem)
