Hey guys do something, where are the experts ??? I am sure its just software problem, I installed some software and next morning touchscreen was not working. I didnt dropt the pda.
Qbukhari.
Just a thought, try putting the device into bootloader mode then hard resetting the device.
Also try putting it into bootloader mode, updating the complete ORIGINAL rom and hard reset to complete the install.
Bootloader mode = power button + reset button + action button right ???
I have done so, problem still there
I have replaced the ROM downloaded from clubimate ----- problem still there
I have also tried to replace the XDAII rom ------ problem still there
now tell me where to get the ORIGINAL ROM ??? I am sure if the original rom is inserted it will be working again. btw pug can we talk online ? I am online now

hey all, I finally solve this problem, in the hard reset screen, there is menu for me to choose what to do in during the hard reset, like clear storage, registry... and i choose to clear all, then my XDA II is now work fine. (in the hardreset menu the backlight will not on, so it is not visible to find out the menu, also to change the setting use the botton of record, camera & volume button to control the menu.) good luck everyone!!
Thats a relief
Hi kindly tell me how to find that menu ?? I am sure I didnt damage my Alpine its just software problem let me fix it too.
Tell me how to find that menu during a hard reset plsssssssss
qbukhari.
WHERE IS THAT MENU??????????????
Menu ????
Still waiting for a reply, kindly tell me how to access "Clear Storage" function during the Hard Reset
qbukhari.
probably fake trying to make impression :?:
Too Sad
Dear Kabintos,
When you go in the setting/memory it is displayed total 122mb main memory in my PDA2 is this the same situation with you too ?
qbukharil.
The bootloader menu is not, as far as I'm aware, on the Alpine as it automatically detects network frequencies etc. Henrypak mentions XDA II not XDA IIi.
The program memory and so on in the Memory tab is only 122.04MB. Memory is quoted different to how most people think. 128000000 / 1024 / 1024 = 122.0703
The .03MB is taken up with partitioning of the memory to allow for storage etc.
Have a look at the hard drives on your computer for example, a 30GB hard drive is only 27.9GB. It's just how the manufacturers quote storage space, in thousands of bytes. Computers work them out in thousand and twenty fours of bytes.
To be honest Qamar, the more I think about your problem, the more I think it is a hardware issue, not software. If you've recently purchased the Alpine, it will still be under warranty and you should be able to take it back for an exchange. If not try opening it up and removing and reconnecting the ribbon cable for the screen from the mother board.
Obviously you've tried flashing it again, if the touchpad isn't working then you can't get past the screen alignment at the beginning of the ROM installation after a hard reset.
Out of curiosity, if the touch screen isn't working, how did you get to see the Memory status on your Alpine? None of the buttons are defaulted to settings or the start menu.
PDA2 live again
Hi All,
Well well well, here I am back in the game again. It was at the last moments when I was almost ready to send my Alpine for repairs when I got tip from a friend from uk. He sent me a tool to format storage completely.
After reseting the Alpine with reformatted storage the touch screen was back a bit misaligned though, after aligning it once its 100% fit now. How can I thank you my friend ???
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers !!!!!!!!!!
qbukhari.
gbukhari pls send it to me m8 pls pls and ill thank you as you were thanking your firend that send it that to you  also i wanted to ask you if you test really hard your machine after that in case it would do the same thing again
my email [email protected]
Can someone post a 100% tried and tested solution to the tapping problem?
TIA
Yeah...!
Can someone please post some instruction on sortingthis issuse out....
Lossing sleep over the thought of having to replace my screen.....
Cheers,

Hi everyone,
I had exactly the same issue with my XDA2i about a week after I purchased it (around 3 months ago). I was happily browsing the web over wifi around a friends house when the screen locked. I had to hard-reset to get it up again but it got stuck in a loop whilst aligning the screen, it wouldn't go past this stage at all.
I phoned the online shop I bought the device from and they told me they had had lots of people reporting the same symptoms and that they had identified a faulty batch. I was sent a replacement from a new batch about 4 days thereafter. The new one has worked fine ever since.
If it is a software issue that's fixable, great, go for it. But if your device is still under warrenty I'd suggest getting a replacement - worked for me!
Sorry I can't be a bit more posistive but thought I'd let u all know.

Hi all... just curious if anyone has had this problem or has any advice for me:
Today out of nowhere my TyTN II starts acting really funky. When I push the "power" button on the right hand side, it lights up the phone, pulls up the phone application and some letters begin appearing one-at-a-time where the currently dialing number usually shows up (E, D, F, and then C if it makes any difference). It will also light up and do this intermittently when the phone is not being used. The notes recorder app also came up and began recording until I unmapped that application from the 6th button in the settings. In addition, all of the slide out keyboard buttons and the soft-keys themselves (save for the middle button) are completely non-responsive. Using the stylus on-screen works fine. So far a soft reset and a hard reset (always wonderful away from home) hasn't alleviated the issue.
I've contacted HTC support, and they gave me the warranty repair number (of course this crap always happens on a weekend). It sure sounds like a hardware failure to me, but I just thought I'd throw it out to the geeks on here...
I'll buy it for 100 dollars. email me: [email protected]
or you could try doing a master reset on the phone or flashing it with a rom..
hopefully you have hard spl on your phone
huh? huh? and huh?
Oh and if anyone out there who isn't inclined to be a jerk, could you give me some insight into what to expect from HTC service and repair? Do you agree that this is a hardware issue and most likely not a corrupted ROM?
Its not master reset its hard reset. What he is saying is to reset everything and it should work. Look at the Wiki for help. We aren't gonna spoon feed you answers that are searchable, but if they aren't specifically answered in some source then we will help which is 50% of the time.

did any of you guys even read his post?

I said to do it again then read the wiki if it doesn't work. 2nd time should be the charm.
If not use a different rom .
This happened to my up button I forgot to mention, it was the radio for me that was the problem so try a different radio also.
Did you find the answer?
Hello Mate,
I've got the very same issue, thought it may have been a virus at first, but after loading up a new rom the problem still exists, I'm reckoning the phone is less than useless now
i had this type of problem for quite some amount of time & that too randomly. then i found that a key lock feature in pocketmusic was interfering and causing it. similarly, i feel any other apps that may use/ be used to remap keys may cause this issue.
ofc, since u have done a hard reset, this may not really apply to u. but then which rom & radio are u using anyways?
Hey... just an update. I sent the device back to HTC in Houston with an RMA. Communication with the repair center was fairly poor. I had no idea the phone was on it's way back to me until it showed up at my door today. No information in the box, but I wasn't charged for any repair and everything works as normal at this time. The device went through the "first time" setup when powered on. Still no idea what caused the problem or what exactly they did. R:...12.32, D:1.56.0 (same as before I'm pretty sure).
axeman: Never had pocketmusic on this (AFAIK), but if it was due to some other software re-mapping the keys, wouldn't it sort itself out with a hard reset? I could be wrong. This seems more like a hardware failure to me.
devil's advocate: Try contacting the HTC repair center in your country. They gave me an RMA without any trouble and their turnaround was quick (although I would have appreciated some notification that it was fixed and back on it's way). I got my TyTN II within a few weeks of it coming out, so I'd assume yours is under warranty still as well. I wouldn't chalk it up as worthless quite yet, even (dare I say) still worth more than $100. (Suck my balls, gqstatus0685 )
Hey guys I need some help I have a new phone with original htc rom but with hardspl and .05 radios. This morning I turned it on and used it for about half the day this evening when I went to my room to shut it down and plug it in the touchscreen would not respond. I soft reset the device and removed the battery and then it slightly worked but was very sluggish and unresponsive compared to how it normally is. I looked to the unlock button on the loading page but was unable to find it. Any help you guys have would be great. Thanks
Have you tried hard resetting your device?
yes I have tried a hard reset but it is still not working. Any other ideas
Anybody have any advice I mean I don't think it is hardspl or the radio as I had been using it for a few days before it broke it is really erratic after talking to HTC they said if I can send it in to the people I bought it from requesting a replacement for a defective unit as they have a 14 day no questions asked return policy which is why I bought from them.
Hi folks,
As the tittle tells, now and then when I close the keyboard from my herald it resets itself...Does not always happens, sometimes I cannot reproduce it, and sometimes it does it several times in a row...
This is my 2nd Herald, the 1st one did this also until the touchscreen failed. Got that one repaired under warrenty. While this one whas in repair, my wife bought me a 2nd one with a German Rom and this one has now been affected with the same bugg...?!
Its just out of warranty now...I guess I could start using the "spare" P4350 but it came out of warranty with a French keyboard and Rom, not really what I prefer...
So anybody an idea? Bad connection between the slider and the body or a problem on the mainboard?
It seems that nobody has experience with this "problem"?!
Well, for me its simple...its my last HTC phone...2 phones who have the same problem, no thanks!
If it gets worse I will give it a hard reset with a hammer, that will solve it for once and for all...
I have a tmobile wing that had the same problem. turns out that after 20 or so times in a row, I decided to figure out what was happening, that it was the battery not making good connection. and closing the keyboard would cause the battery to jar loose for a split second and loose power. I cleaned the battery and the phone terminals and mine hasn't done it since . hope this helps
I've had that problem before with other HTC devices (wizard / Tmo MDA) ... I ended up just getting an exchange.
i've also had this problem with my herald. I fixed it with this file, I think you know how to use it...
file
This file is an Rom...If this would solve the problem I prefer to flash it with an official Rom from HTC...but why would it run fine for a year if its a Rom problem?
Hi all,
I searched everywhere here but could not fnd any suitable answer...
Here's my problem:
My brand new Touch Diamond regularly shuts off, I mean it powers itself off on its own after three to four days of use, even if the battery is fully loaded...
After that, most of the times, I have to take the battery out then replace it, otherwise it won't start. Sometimes, a soft reset would do the trick.
A great lack of reliability, since you actually don't know when you phone has powered off... I let you iamgine how many missed calls I've been through...
Any suggestion, I mean except for a hard reset ? Faulty battery? WM 6.1 malfunction?
I have no running apps in the background, it is not plugged to USB or anything. It just cuts power and stays like that...
Thanks for any input,
Cheers from South of France!
I can't help you but i have the same problem sometimes. It just turns off and won't turn on by pressing the power button again. To get back to normal i also have to take out the battery!
BTW that phone is pretty buggy anyway. i really hope there is gonna be an update by htc real soon.
I seem to have the same problem. Has anyone of you found a solution or course?
I have to do a battery pull to restart the mda compact 4. It happens 10 times a day.
BTW: I have a T-Mobile MDA compact IV

Hi, Hakim Rahman,
You´re wrong. There is no solution for this problem. I´m searching almost 2 years for help. My touch diamond was in guarantee when the problem appears. I returned the phone back, but the guys from the service said, the phone have been wet, although it was always dry in my pocket...
What should I say, HTC is the worst producer of pocket PCs, that´s all.
Actually I´ve already tried another ROMs...
problem seems to be solved
I have done a HARD reset on the phone 4 days ago. It seems to be stable now.
I had a Manilla skin installed as well as a prog that used the built-in gyroscope. Perhaps those were unstable...
Now they have been erased and the phone is back into its original configuration.
