Weekends are Friday + saturday here in this country rather than Sat + Sun.
When using the calendar app to set specific patter-type appointments (like a meeting on weekdays only from 10 am to 12pm) it doesnt count Sat + Sun because that is the European + American weekend.
How do I change it??? Its imperative.
You can change the calendar to show Sunday as the first day of the week: Menu->Tools->Options. There are also registry hacks for the calendar to change what days are marked as working days and times are working hours, and this is described here in the Wiki. Go down towards the end of the page to the heading 'Pocket Calendar'.
We're not so lucky here in Oman as we are still on a Sat-Wed working week.
What difference does Oman's weekend have with the WM6? You can according to your post adjust the weekdays/ends as you please.
Or am I misunderstanding?
Teslam bro.
Salaams Brother,
Yes, I can make it show Sat-Wed as working days but not to show Sat as the first day of the week. Sun or Mon are the only choices for this. :-(
Ahh I see.
Isnt there a registry hack for this?
Not AFAIK.
I cant find the part after ActiveTimes\Active Times
I can only reach HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Calendar
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Calendar\ActiveTimes\ActiveTimes = 2210003E
If the key is not there then you have to create it.
and how does one go about doing that?

Hello,
I need to set up Saturday as my 1st day of week in Calendar. Anybody knows how to do that, may be registry editing? Can not find anywhere solution for that.
Thanks in advance
I don't think it can be done with the standard calendar (at least, not to my knowledge). Various calendar replacements can do this, though. AgendaOne, for example, lets me specify the first day of the week.
Is there any way to manually set the first day of the week? Specifically to Saturday? I only ask because that's the first day of my company's week and it would make using the calender app much easier.
go into calendar > Menu > Tools > Options > second item '1st day of week'
hope this is what you were looking for..
OOOPPPSSS!!! ... Sorry I should look before I post!.. It only Allows Sunday or Monday... Many apologies..
This only allows Monday or Sunday to be set, I've already tried this, I would need some registry key to edit or a special cab to install.
have you seen this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403106
under other calendar hacks..
This just sets which days are working days, my schedule is completely random and runs Saturday-Friday, every day is still a working day, I just need it to start on Saturday instead of Monday or Sunday.
By the way thanks for the replies so far, I really appreciate the help.
I've searched on here, searched Google, but they all seem to cost $15, whatever that equates to in 'proper' money.
All I'm looking for is something that'll automatically put the phone on silent between midnight and 7am.
Is there any free ones??
Cheers
Phil
Hi Phil - I'm also looking for exactly the same solution. Would you mind listing any apps you've come across that can automagically put a TytnII on silent during the night?
Thanks
This reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask actually...
In the profiles section of the HTC Home plugin, there is an 'automatic' option... Is there any way to define how that one works?
Regards,
Rob.

I had a look in the manual, and on the web but couldn't see anything.
As far as I can see the automatic option cannot be configured. It just puts the phone into vibrate mode when there's a calendar appointment. That's no good at night when your phone vibrates when there are incoming phone calls or SMSes - it still wakes one up. And having to create a recurring daily appointment from say 10pm to 6am isn't the most elegant way to stop the phone from ringing at night without turning it off.
Birthday reminders are also annoying since they can result in a midnight chime.
Ideally I'd like to set a time period each night when the phone goes silent except for specific reminders (like a manually configured alarm clock).
My old Nokia 6310i did this superbly.
Does anyone know of any application that does this for a TytnII?
Looks like we might be in luck!!!
Seems like a developer on here's come to our rescue!
I'm going to give it a go tonight.

I found this one earlier also: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about
Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it appears to be free also (with $ donations appreciated).
Thanks - the link didn't work but the home page http://www.ageye.de/ has some interesting stuff well worth a look at.
Much appreciated

They result in whatever time you set them for. If you want them at a different time then set them. Midnight is just the default.
If you want free then try the PhoneAlarm Lite v2.21
I use the Pro version but the Lite will do you profile switching!
I've added Ottawa (that's the capital of Canada ) to the World Clock but the time it displays is 2 hours early .. it appears to be in the wrong timezone !

I had fix the time-zone for Ottawa, Canada. Tested. Please download the following link and replace the file in Windows folder, restart your PDA, it should show the correct time.
Let me know the result.

This is interesting. In looking at the fix, I could see that the timezone was changed from 360 to 300. I expect that 300 refers to 300 minutes (5 hours) less than GMT. My checks show that Ottowa's standard time is -5 GMT but it is currently on Daylight Savings time from March 8th, making the current time -4 GMT. How is this reflected in the manilla file?
I too have found that my city Port of Spain in Trinidad shows the incorrect time but from my review of the database, the Timezone shows 240, which is -4 GMT, which is correct, yet the time shown is wrong. Port of Spain does not use Daylight Savings time so what is needed to correct it.

There are also a link in the database point to windows mobile time-zone setting, that is called MSID. This is also affected the time zone showing in the manila.
Basically, the MS database was correct, but the Manila some how is wrong, as you notice, the interesting part is the "minutes" that "add/minus" in the database was not always same as the "GMT +/-". What we can do is make it run for the meantime until HTC fix it.

I changed Port of Spain's MSID from 50 to 55 and I got the correct time. I copied the MSID from Bridgetown, Barbados which carries the same time and which was correct. If this is correct, perhaps you can update your database to reflect this change.
hey Peacocb, where did you get your phone and what carrier are you using. I'm thinking of getting this phone over the TP2 as I don't need the keyboard.
Thanks
I find the WM7 calendar to be the worst feature of the phone. No Week view, no colour organising, no config settings etc etc
But what's really bugging me is the default time slots when you add an appointment. I run a rehearsal studio and the majority of the appointments I book are 3 or 4 hours.
The calendars defaults go 0mins, 30mins, 1hr, 90mins, 2hr, All day.
Does anyone know if these defaults can be changed to something that is more useful to me. I've looked in the registry but not really sure what I should be looking for.
And how come there are no alternative calendars on Marketplace??
You don't get a straight up week view, but scrolling up or down to jump days is simple and quick. Or, just pop to the month view and tap the day you want. That's also fast.
For a new appointment, the last option is Custom, and will allow any time frame you choose.
No answers for your other issues. Maybe these coming updates will alter some calendar features and functions.
Thanks but that doesn't really help at all...
Firstly no Days when scrolling, just dates. Clients always ask for "next thursday" or "sunday evening" etc. I have to work out of look up what the date would be then
Secondly the custom option, you need to enter the end time in manually. its just a pain when you have to enter somthing like 18:30.
Copy and paste would solve 50% of the issues as a lot of clients can just be copied and pasted to their new date.
Other than this issue, I actually really like the phone.
Yes, you get days and dates when scrolling. If I tap my calendar tile, which takes me to Today, scroll up (for force the calendar down), it shows, right at the top, Friday, March 04, 2011.
If you dont know the date for the thursday after next, just tap the Month button at the bottom. BAM, Thursday after next is the 17th.
Copy and Paste will arrive shortly, though I doubt very much it will alleviate the issues you state.
on mine, the top of the calendar just displays "04 MARCH 2011" whether I'm in agenda view or day view. No day.
copy and paste would help as with most clients I just copy their 7-10pm slot and paste it to next week 7pm... in theory!
On WM6.5 I used "agenda one" and it did everything I needed. I find it odd that there is not a single replacement calendar available on marketplace.
What is this "WM7" of which you speak?

That's strange. My calender also shows the day as well as the date at the top of the screen.

My HD7 doesnt show a day either. Odd that it is different for different people.
I have to agree with the OP. The calendar is truly awful. I too do not have days listed in agenda or day view, only the date ! I seem to recall seeing in a early preview video of WP7 in the monthly view it showed colour bars on the days to indicate which entry belonged to different calendars. But mine doesn't do this, and it would be nice if it did. It would allow me to differentiate between work and personal appointments etc. whilst in monthly view which is what I use the most for a "glance and go" experience.
My solution, to continue carrying my TP2, and continue using Pocket Informant, IMHO, the best calendar available. Until WP7 allows the option to colour code days, support categories, allows multiple icons on a day, in monthly view, then I don't see any other option.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing WP7, I love my HD7, but I always knew version 1 would be lacking in functionality, and I'm a heavy calender user, often with 10 plus appointments a day, in multiple categories, so WP7 just doesn't cut in at the moment, which is my only real gripe at present.

Mine does this (Windows Live is blue, Outlook is Red)
Scratch that... wow... the monthly view USED to, I swear. Maybe because I disabled the Live calendar for a time... hmmm
Colours in the Calendar are used to distinguish between the calendars of different accounts, you cannot assign colours to events without putting the event into the appropriate account.
For instance, the calendar in Windows Live might be purple, and the one from Google Mail might be red. Your event will either be purple or red depending on whether it resides in the Windows Live calendar or the Google one.
Changing the Long date in the Regional settings does not give you the weekday in the Calendar app.
Odd, maybe the date thing is a US v. Euro issue?

Change display language to US and then the date can include the day.

Thanks. I can confirm that works.
Are there any other effects of changing the display language from Uk to US ?
I'd still like to find out about displaying a coloured bar on individual days within the monthly view denoting which calendar the entries belong too. I'm sure I saw this feature in a video preview ???

Yes, this certainly works. It is a long-standing problem with MS Phones; the old Windows-Mobile suffered from the same problem, but at least it was possible to tweak the registry to fix it.
For some reason, Microsoft seems to believe that Europeans do not use the day-name in their calendars. . I wish there was some way of telling them that they are wrong

I haven't come across any weird things. There are 12/24 hour settings somewhere which I changed to 24 hour as well as tweaking the short and long date display to be as I want them. Quite happy with that all now.
