Hi Guys,
My Kaiser arriving tomoz to replace aging m3100 (Orange TTyN), but as I share a business contract and need the Kaiser, we have needed to switch Sims on our phones, hence I only have a none-3g sim for my kaiser.
Question is thus;
Do I need it to be a 3G sim to use HSPDA? I understand HSPDA is 3g 1.5 or something, but wanted to clarify the issue.
If no good, how can I get a 3g sim into the phone but retain the number? Orange don't want to play ball, as I have suggested they can 'upgrade' the Sim with new code etc.? ( yes, a little knowledge is a very dangerous thing.. )
Any help and advice would be much appreciated..
Cheers
I phoned orange they sent new 3G sim two days ago though mine was on PAYG.
My old sim only got GPRS.
The new sim has a number to phone to register it. Follow the prompts...The rep will ask you for the new sim card number and apply it to your phone.
After you put the new sim card in you'll get a text telling you to switch the phone off then on... then presto HSDPA
Make sure you specify that you want a 3G sim card else they'll try and send you a normal one
Yeah I dont follow at all...
Orange are anal about sim's with devices. You should register the new sim you get with your device and they will change it to your old number within a few hours.
I'm running a Kaiser on T-Mobile and I get HSPDA whenever its available. I don't have 3G service so I think you should get the max Data connection available when its available.
Thanks for tips Guys !
As I have found on other parts of these forums, plenty of great advice given quickly ! Cheers
Just to get this straight, as its a business phone and I cant screw it or lose my number...
Problem is, as I swapped phones with my Bro who I work with, there is already a phone using the number provided on the new sim... So I cant register the new sim.
Orange are ANAL about their sims, and ANAL about removing TouchFlo (Grrr) bunch of ANAL freaks if you ask me..
Anyhoo,
Could I register the sim, and give MY number, and they will register to that number? Orange Bod says there is NOTHING that can be done, NO WY to solve the situation, but you guys are so much smarter than them...
Keep it coming ! Is it poss. to re-code the sim to 3g using a simcard reader? should I find out where Head orange guy lives and shake him warmly by the throat?

Hi all,
I bought an Alpine, brand new (unwanted contract upgrade) from eBay, received it today and put in the PayG o2 sim that I bought from carphone warehouse. The phone is locked to o2, as I tried my old virgin sim and got the old "Enter unlock code", but with the PayG sim, it goes straight in, except there is an exclamation mark next to the signal indicator. I can't figure out what it is. Do I have to wait, say 24 hours for the sim to receive a signal? Or is it something more suspect? I can't make calls or do anything that requires payment from the sim.
Cheers,
Karl
EDIT: I have googled, and done a hard reset. I have come across that problem of not being able to select "Prepaid" for the simcard. I'm even using an o2 sim card! Is there something else I need to do? I've seen the settings for gprs and mms, but I just need to get it so I can use it as a phone! Please help!
Can nobody help me?!?!?
Have you tried calling O2? I had no signal for a few hours last night and had the ! mark next to the aeriel symbol, maybe there were network problems in your area as well?
Alternatively have you tried the SIM in another phone to check it's been activated correctly?
You could also try SIM-Unlocking your phone using the tool somewhere on this forum (Search should find it) and try it with your Virgin SIM to see if it's actually the phone which isn't working.
Apart from that can't help.
Sorry!!!!
G
I have emailed them about the problem, and may well back it up with a call; I just don't want to be on hold for an hour listening to someone playing the trumpet with their arse.
My sister has an o2 phone, but is out at the moment. I will check with her when I next see her.
I have been looking at the all in one unlock tool in the General section, but am wary of it as I don't want to brick this phone. Will it wipe the WM2k3 OS do you know? Or is it just like an application that searches the system?
Thanks!
UPDATE: Have just decided to bite the bullet and try the all in one unlock. It worked and my XDA is now on my old Virgin Sim. I will try my o2 Sim in my sister's phone at some point. Could it be that I have bought a dodgy o2 sim?
UPDATE: I tested the Sim in my Sister's phone, and it came up with "Unregistered Sim". I then put in an unused Sim that she got as part of a promotional freebie type thing and it registered in under a minute! I'm going to take back the Sim that will not register, but before I do, is there anything else I can try?
SOLVED
Simcard refunded, am using spare that my sister had as it worked straight away.
SOLVED
Glad to hear that - I had just dug out this morning the SIM unlock program and was going to PM it to you then I saw your post.
Enjoy your phone!

Thanks for your help buddy! Much appreciated
I have a SIM with two numbers, 2in1.
The problem is that it always shows on the title bar the number "1" (Line 1)
with the two numbers. The problem is that I don't know which number is on abd I have to go into the SIM menu to check.
any solution?
where did you get a 2 in one sim - i need one of those!
it's a service by my network.
This SIM has two numbers and whether someone calls you on the first number or on the second, the phone rings.
Aw Crap!
Hey well thx for the swift answer anyway!
;-)
You can buy 2 in 1 sims on ebay along with a sim duplicator that will put both of your single sims on the 2 in 1 card. The actually even have super sims that can hold way more than 2 sims. Just search super sim on ebay and I'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about.
Thx buddy I will - not sure if these will work with Tmob tho or willthey fit the kaiser...

That I couldn't tell you. I've never used one before, just knew where to find them. SIM cards should all be the same size though so it should fit and I just read a post in the wizard forum earlier today that said that one cooked ROM for the wizard even supports multi sim cards and the ones that don't you can change which number is being used in the sim manager. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that means you'll miss any calls made to the number not being used or if you only have to change the one being used if you want to use that number to dial out on.
No,you won't lose any phones.
The only thing is that you don't know which number you have active (to make calls).
Just this....The 2in1 SIM cards work fine on Kaiser without a problem at all.
this is great news you lot are frikkin brilliant - why did i stay away so long?!

Hi,
So I was thinking, is it possible with some driver may be to make a virtual copy of a physical SIM card, possibly copy 3-4 cards and make the phone work in multi-card mode without the need of SIM cards being physically present?
now that would be nice, a great idea, im pretty sure someone could make something like this since like other phones like sprint dont have a sim card sometimes are programed directly to the phone maybe its the same prosses.
also would make it easier for many like me that have 2 or more sim cards i myself have a T-Mobile (US) and Movistar (Mex.) sim cards and its a bother to have to change them when visiting like right now im in Mexico at the moment.
but it also would bring up another problem to have something like that.
for example someone gets your sim card (if you dont know anything about such program and if made) and someone with mischeif on their minds saves your sim information and uses it as they please. (then again. its just like stealing your phone, you would call your provider and disactivate it so no further charges would apply the second you knew that something was up. its just harder to know since you would have to wait till the bill comes in)
but if at all possible i would use it for good. would be nice

Indeed, i hope it is possible. I dont think theft would be any problem at all, because the gsm network should not accept simultaneous login from the same SIM card. It just makes sense to be this way. I myself have to use up to 5 cards and growing. Ultimately, virtual SIM cards would also enable purchasing cards from the internet and also cheapest route selection, things like this..
point made.
you have a point.
i forgot about the network not allowing you to have two at the same time.
but yeah then again, it shouldn't be much of a problem i think. 5 cards is alot.
but you're right if such a program where made, it would open the market so mucho more and one could actually buy online sim card info. and if this program where made, one could save the info to the phone then back it up to a computer (where it's safe, most of the time atleast) and maybe the same program could write back to a sim card thats not activated (for purposes just as loosing a sim card, but not the info.) now there's an idea for ya.
would be super nice!
too bad i have no clue on how to program such things, but ideas i have
if anyone takes the challenge to create it, if at all possible i would gladly donate since i would use it surely.
Possible, but..
It's possible if you have the Ki and IMSI values from your SIM. The IMSI is easy, but cracking the Ki is only possible in old SIM cards, using COMP128-1 encryption.
All the SIM cloning tools on eBay can clone only these old cards.
A virtual sim card is a really cool idea. No more swapping sim cards between you primairy phone and your backup phone... (I only have only one sim)

Hi
No they give you the IMEI number not the IMSI.
The problem you would have is that sooner or later the networks would block your phone because they will see the fact that your phone is running 4-5 mobile numbers with ONE IMEI no. Ebay is littered with Cheap dual active SIM phones. They only have one IMEI and sooner or later the network(s) will switch off your phone.
The way round this is to have 2 IMEI numbers to run 2 sim cards at the same time...abit like the Samsung D880. This basically means you have 2 phones with 1 screen and 1 keypad...i have one and i know these work great!!.
Regards
Wasim
The will not block you for changin sims, right?
And also GSM won't allow you to register simulteniously two sims, only one at a time...
Cos TD has only ONE GSM inside, not two as Samsung DuoS
What the progress of the topic, people?
I certainly hope this is not possible. I wouldn't want to know anyone can copy and use my simcard. That would be an unacceptable breach of security for any mobile phone user.
This might be a good breach, and it exists, just need a tool to use it with windows mobile! I can even now COPY MY SIM to another sim, yes - it's need a liitle crack with it, but card itself intact, and i can have a copy
So - What are solutions now for windows mobile?
i really like to know if it is possible. but i dont think an emulator is a must because in ppc we can easly turn off the cellular connection and turn it on again. that way (if you've used old 3in1 sim cards, you'd know) you can change the operator. every time you restarted the gsm connection, your operator will change.
and what about connecting to more-than-one operator at the same time?
cheers

I am in Saudi & have 3 sim cards(STC) with the same number. One in my laptop, One in my Samsung, one in my Diamond. All work for internet at the same time to use for phone I activate by *123$ (this is then primary card for incoming & texts). When in Spain I have 2 cards(Movistar) both of these work & ring at the same time, but text messages only goes to one of them.
Virtual Sim Card
hello ladies and gentleman this is a very good idea i was thinking about the same idea today... In the virtual sim card there should be a tracking device installed in the phone so that when it is stolen you can track down the phone or the company can switch of the phone and it will have no use and all your data is safe... I am all the way in africa Botswana and my name is delmar dube i am willing to do more research on this because i want to see it come true
I would be surprised if this was possible... the GSM chipset firmware is pretty much sealed off from a phone's operating system except for the AT command interface. Otherwise people would be able to fiddle with transmit power which would invalidate the phone's FCC/etc certifications.
Any progress??
Heyy like most on this forum thread I just thought of this last night, I have an unlimited plan with Wind Mobile (who's coverage is um.... not great) with Unlimited internet and talking and texting for $29/mo. Unfortunately I spend the majority of my time outside their current coverage area, and would like to get one of Telus' "One Number Unlimited" voice plan ($7/mo) for when I'm outside of Wind's area but still want to call my girlfriend. Virutal Switchable SIM cards would be a great solution since my phone doesn't exactly like to co-operate with me when I try to turn it on after having the battery removed to get access to the SIM slot. Plus I don't want to be carrying around a little tiny piece of plastic that'll give me chaos if I ever lost it.
Anyways I'm running a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4g (4g is the name of the phone, it's just LTE of 3G though), It's running ICS 4.*something.
Oh yeah, sorry for being a grave-digger
I love this idea. I mean apple now has patents for virtual simcards, I really hope the android market follows suit. I have 6 sim cards and counting (Afghanistan, Switzerland, United States, Korea, Philippines, and UAE), and would love to be able to purchase and activate my "virtual sim card" off of say the Google Play Store, prior to flying into a country.
I wouldn't mind some kind of DRM or whatnot, just being able to buy service before I go into country, and then have calling and data capabilities as soon as I walk off the plane would be worth it.
I have a korean Galaxy S2, which has the sim tray damaged, being impossible to connect any SIM card.
If I could use virtually my SIM card, I coud use this phone.
Is this possible??
I just wanted to use one SIM card just for phone calls, dont even need services like internet...
Well i bought a new G1 it came with the charger, carry case and the phone.
I unlocked it this morning as it was on T-Mobile (uk) I have now put in my Orange Uk sim card.
I have set the wap APN and thats fine. Strange this is it says no service and it wont find ANY operators. However i can use the internet perfectly fine?
Any ideas?
Please tell me the phone hasn't been blocked or whatever. I have had enough bad luck over the past two weeks as it is
EDIT : Me and my mother are both on orange UK pay monthly plans, i have unlimited data and pay £35/month she doesnt and pays £20/month i put her sim in and it connected to orange no problem. But mine however wont:S
You sure your SIM card is activated? call orange UK
Yes i am i have been using it with my contracted phone for the past 10 months... and also when i previously owned a G1 the SAME sim card worked in that one.
Thanks anyway

You said it right there.. Works with her SIM, doesn't with yours. Problem is the SIM or service, not the phone.. Call up Orange and see what's going on.
im trying it with her sim now and i cant get anything from it:S must have been a fluke...
It really does sound like network or SIM related, but here's my last effort.. So you have internet, right? So you can register the phone, root it, install other builds? Root it if you haven't already, and try a different build. Rule out software problems that way. And if it still doesn't work then talk to Orange to make sure your account is good. At that point.. Gotta be bad hardware.
rightio well me thinks ive found the problem, rooted it and tried different builds. Tried my mums sim again and nothing, must have been a fluke... Although i didnt try calling or texting.
I have done a checkmend check with the IMEI number and guess what? its been blocked on one or more UK networks... Which i thought meant stolen. However it hasnt been reported stolen?
What should i do? should i ring up orange or tmobile and ask them to unblock it? or wont they? should i ask for a refund on ebay? what?
Not sure. Here in the US, you wouldn't have any luck getting a carrier to unblock that for you. Only the person who reported it could unblock it. Also over here, sometimes insurance companies can blacklist a phone (one that was reported damaged/destroyed) to prevent fraud - that may be why it isn't reported stolen.
Anyway, that's over here.. Could be totally different in the UK. Nothing to do but try, but do it quick so you have some chance of disputing / refunding via eBay if it doesn't work.
Right well i have e-mailed the seller asking whats the problem, i doubt hel reply so if he doesnt the next step will be to open a dispute via paypal.
Right well it turns out that my mum and dads sim cards work in the phone.... and mine doesnt.
I noticed that my sim card has a rounder chip in it and theirs has a squared chip (both orange) i then tested an 02 sim which has a rounded chip and that also does not work... So im goign to get a new updated sim that works with the phone.
Cool Hope that works!
Well yeah that ddint work... the NEW sim doesnt work ni the phone either eventhough thsi is a 3g sim...
Hello everyone.
I'm beat. I was up to silly o'clock this morning trying to get this thing working.
I purchased to unlocker from this site as I have no posts. I've tried many different roms and radios but I still get no service when I plonk in my o2 sim card.
I have a touch HD that was registered to the orange network that I bought off a friend of mine. I wanted it to work with o2 so I downloaded the unlocker program (paid for) and did all the updating and unlocking that entails.
I then tried a few different roms (even tried win 6.5 but my battrey was getting drained at a silly rate)
The problem I have is that whichever radio I get it's not working with my O2 sim card. I have the little G symbol but it keeps asking for data connection setting and the phone is showing no service. I have even tried radios from other phones with no luck. I'm on the offical htc 1,56,401,0 (43972) WEE rom at the moment and the 1.12.25.16 radio and I'm also getting the greenscreen at the load up but a quick on off fixes that.
I searched the forums but still no joy.
What do I have to do?
Please, you are my only hope.
Thanks in advance.
Do you have the right SPL? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217)
I used to be Orange, had it unlocked, and am now on o2 with no problems. I use 1.17 radio but I don't think that's the issue
Tried it just now.
Thanks for the advice.
Tried the HSPL Wrapper on that thread, updated the radio to 1.17 but it's still showing no service. Any other ideas?
Thanks again.
did you try put another sim card inside the phone?
I just have O2 cards atm. Still now joy though.
I am a failure.
I've just done a cracking stew in the slow cooker. First time making dumplins. I can rebuild and format a PC in less that two hours but this thing has got me beaten. I suppose I could use it for an e-book reader.
I've now got SPL-1.56.Olnex on there with the blackstonehenge Rom.
and 1.17.25.09 radio but it still won't connect.
If anyone has any better ideas I will make them some stew and dumplins. Geographical location allowing, and if the gf lets me have friends round.
Thanks anyways.

i think the OP said that they have bought this already
i used to be on orange, now on O2.
how old is the O2 simcard? i think this is the most likely cause
Yes, I already purchased the unlocker. I also tried a newer sim card that was a Christmas present. I'll nip out today and get a 99p sim card from another network. Any suggestions which would be best?
Works with vodaphone
Yes, it registers and works with a vodaphone simcard. It also works with t-mobile but I can't send or recive calls on that (mightbe a sim thing with a need to top up or something) But a new o2 PAYG sim card and my old one still bringing up no service.
Anyone got any suggestions about any manual settings I can do?
Cheers,

Your operator does have any rom for Touch HD on their site? If it does, try it and see if it works.
Also read this page, seems to be an O2 rom for Blackstone devices http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Versions .
This page may be usefull too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444170

Hi henshu. Have you tried checking your band settings. Make sure they all are set to Auto. Tap on phone then options then band.
