i just bought a refurbed tilt from premier for 150 and im gettin disconnected from my internet every other minute on opera 8.65 mobile or whatever the newest ones called. is it normal or does my refurb tilt just suck ass and i got a busted phone?
First welcome on board.
You'll notice I have slightly changed your thread title as it appeared to be a statement of fact "wifi sucks on the Tilt". Your problem is not normal behaviour for the Tilt (though I think I saw another thread about Wifi cutting out in a regular pattern). Worth a search, or wait for replies here.

Just to provide a balance, I think "widespread" and "no solution" isn't exactly accurate. There are 1000's of us using wifi quite happily on all types of access point.
There's only a few users reporting this problem - and I didnt spend long looking at the thread, but they all seem to have tilt's so I am assuming its a rom based thing.

Ok I have been enjoying MobiTv for over a year now due to a file that I put in the startup folder to reset the 3 day trial . But about 3 weeks ago I got a message saying your 3 day trial is over to buy Mobitv hit the "Buy" button on the bottom of the screen. So I removed and reinstalled the program and still the same message. Is there a fix for this or is the free ride over. To tell you the truth I might have used it 2 hours in the year. With the graphics performance of my Kaiser I would not even consider buying this but if anyone out there knows of a work around I would love to hear it.
A few weeks ago I read in the hacking and developing forum about MobiTv contacting some sites threatening to remove all the info about hacking their software. I guess xda and other sites complied. I used it only once for about 3 minutes.
I wish there would be something similar because some of us don't live in USA to be able to buy this feature.
I use it all the time, its works fantastic for me when i have a solid 3g connection. Who can resist watching meercat manor when youve got 3 or 4 hours drive ahead of you.
Yea know them *****ing about pep hacking the software is retarded, i did pay for one month. But after resetting my tilt a few times + new roms etc. i seem to have hacked it without trying. hahahah
Learn to write an app, or quite *****ing eh?
To fix this problem, you first need to contact MobiTV and then second, bust out your credit card and pay for something.
If you need free then use orb. Geez
MobiTV is my favorite app and use it about 30 minutes a day collectively to kill time. I've had it for the past six months and been working flawless. I also pay $10/month for it, rather than pay $15/month for the att branded one. Now with the some the more recent cooked Kaiser (Diamond) roms, the video quality is significantly better and less grainy. They (MobiTV also plan to add more channels as well.
The reason why the re-setter doesn't in the cracked version doesn't work any more because they (mobiTV) upgraded the software. So for the Kaiser users, try using a cook (diamond) rom and the updated version MobiTV for 3 days. You'll notice the difference.

You are actually complaining because something you are stealing isn't working correctly? Wow.
Thanks for all the input guys!
I think I didn't explain myself or maybe I did. I don't believe in using something for nothing and I in no way advocate warez or any type of illegal software use. I am willing to pay for a program if it is worth it. MobiTV is not worth $15.00 a month like I said if the Graphics was working on my tilt and if the service was priced in line with what it offers I would be happy to pay. I already Pay AT&T $165.00 a month for 3 phones, 2 pda plans and I did sign up for this when I first got my Hearms but then quickly found that on top of the PDA plan for the ability to get the internet and MobiTV I would need to pay $15.00 a month for MobiTV which I did then found out that I had to pay $9.99 for HBO tv via MobiTV so I could watch the Sopranos which was the whole reason I went for the MobiTV in the first place I was a Sopranos fan, then I find out that it was an extra $10.00 for XM radio. So it seemed to me that it was a rip off then I saw a post for someone here on our forum about the Trial reseter and I used it and it worked. But I could not get HBO so I never used it much as stated I maybe used it 2 or 3 hours tops. My question was did they change something ,I think I said "was the free ride over" and that was answered in the third reply that the software had been upgraded. So thanks for all your help/ Thank you for the quick judgment but remember I didn't write this software that enabled me to get an extended Trial for MobiTV ,I found it posted here on XDA.

LMAO, I didn't make the bullet or the gun either.
It's been driving me literally mad for the last few days. I've tried different handsets and different SIMs and the problem appears to be with any T-Mobile SIM + 3G handset. Works fine when 3G is disabled. I've lived at DY5 for almost a year now and the reception never let me down until now - from time to time whoever calls me think my phone's off! Did Hard Reset my Kaiser a few times and changed the radio to 1.65.24.36.(Dutty's 6.1 19209 ROM). The other handset MDA Touch Plus(aka Niki) is brand new and has 1.58.21.23 radio. So my questions are:
1 Is there anyone else with a similar problem?
2 How do I fix it?
3 Best radio to ensure good reception in UK?
Any advice is welcome
It looks like everyone in the UK has a fantastic signal....except me of course...
You should probably speak directly to T-mobile because if you look at the Dudley DY5 postcode area here: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/coverage/street-check/ you can see that the coverage should be perfect.
We had a problem at Castle Donington for a while and it turned out that there was a transmitter problem in the area that they were working on. Where I live in the East midlands has terrible reception for an urban area.
The vodafone map is probably more realistic as a lot of companies share the transmitters http://maps.vodafone.co.uk/coverageviewer/web/default.aspx
I can see in the DY5 area there are a few pockets of areas that aren't covered at the moment but will be in 6 months.

Thanks for your reply mate! I'll call them tomorrow...again! For the last couple of weeks or so T-Mo had some DNS problems here and now this...
By the way I couldn't follow your second link - it says my browser's no good. In fact all three of them. I guess one needs a special voda-complient super browser to access that site

I use Firefox 3 ( http://www.mozilla.com ). I just tested it with IE and it worked too. Check that you haven't locked down the javascript too strongly or add maps.vodafone.co.uk as a trusted site in your browser.

I had the same problem when i was with t-mobil, went to the shop, and they told me to disable 3G, all staff had been advised to do it in the shop aswell.
Im in dudley, and it was the merry hill shop i went to, so maybe it is something to do with the area ?

I discovered that disabling 3G fixes the problem, but then there will be no point for me in staying with T-Mobile. I live a couple of miles away from Merry Hill, so I guess you're the first one to confirm that the reception problem does exist here.

Someone had the same problem 3 years ago and all T-Mo could tell him is to swith to GSM...
Today I had no problems with phone calls, still 1-2 bars of signal, but if it happens again I'll have to insist they do something about it...
IE, Opera and Mozilla Firefox(not fan by the way) are all the three browsers I tried and all up to date. But that was smth to do with the fact that I'm using W'n'W with laptop, coz the site is accessible via online proxy...
hi there
i have a touch diamond that was got from holland , unlocked and unbranded
rom version 1.35.401.3 WWE
using the Meteor pre pay network
last week the when making calls the person at the end of the line can not hear a thing im saying
anything I can do to fix this ?
step by step guides ?
thanks
Joe
Wooo! Another Diamond user in Ireland!
I'm also on Meteor pre-pay, but I have a Diamond from the UK (1.37.405.1 WWE). I've had no problems with calls or texts or anything...apart from mobile internet.
The built-in connection settings for Meteor are just wrong. They don't work at all. The WAP settings are available elsewhere on the internet, but I've managed to acquire (after confusing Meteor customer care quite a lot, because they've obviously never even heard of HTC) working mobile internet settings. The only problem is that their prices are ridiculous (2c per KB)...but at least I can check emails and the weather if I really need to.
If anyone wants the proper Meteor mobile internet settings, just ask (or phone customer care...and be prepared for a long conversation).
Oh, getting back to the original problem, have you tried your device on any other network? I would really doubt that the problem is Meteor-specific, because I've never had any problems using HTC devices on Meteor. BTW, aren't the new pre-pay deals really cool? Not sure about that magic mobile genie though...
Alright lads! Where did you get your Diamonds? and for how much? I'm trying to bring one into Ireland, cheapest way?
I would also hazard a guess that it's a phone specific problem, have you tried flashing a different rom?
Meteor Pre Pay here btw... I'm signed up to the 3G test, I get free 3G till the end of August! woohoo! They'll have PAYG deals when they release to the public in October.
i got it from Capti-lux in hollands airport, phone is great like but need to sort out why people cant hear me on it though ! ha
i ever bothered with the internet settings for it as i use the wireless when needed for emails etc , and the 3g will be out in october

This may be just me, but I would try upgrading the radio. I've had the same issues with some of my other htc phones and it always fixed it for me.
I am on Vodafone and no problem with HTC DT on 3G in Galway. I have flashed it with a Diamond Project ROM including the latest radio and had to fix the access point to hs.vodafone.ie
Got mine on Ebay this week from all4ustore_lv for €450, paid last Friday, got delivered this Tuesday! Scary part is the insurance, it shipped as a memory module with value of £50. If you are a frequent visitor to Paddy Power then I suppose you can take this gamble too...

The cheapest way to get a Diamond is probably to get one from eBay or the UK. Some websites don't like delivering to random countries though, so you might have to physically go to a shop if you don't like the eBay. I wonder if they're available in Northern Ireland - I can't see any reason for them not being available there...
3G test! I heard about that, but as I'm only in Ireland erratically I've never really investigated it. I'm here for a while now though - how did you sign up to the 3G test? On 3G do they still charge that crazy 2c per KB? Also, how good is the 3G network (coverage, speed, etc.)?

Flashing in 2 steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621
hardspl 1.24
ROM of your choice such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407572
Direct download link:
http://duttythroy.net/downloads/ind...DiamProject_V2_5.2.19965_Radio_1.00.25.06.zip
Follow the instructions and backup anything important.
Ordered the Diamond from the UK the day it was released. Upgraded the rom to Dutty's Diamond Project and it works a treat. On O2 network and getting a Gig a month for €15 so thats pretty good. After Flashing with Dutty's ROM I have freed up about 20% more memory so it runs much smoother.
ok ill try and do that over the weekend , thanks all
ok iv seem to have got it working now again

Is that on some kind of contract?
1GB would cost €20,971.52 on Meteor.

Isn't the "B" stock all of those returned grey imports from HK? Thanks for the tip about TomTom7 in Ireland.
Hey lads, living in the south and I've ordered the Diamond, should have it in a few days.
Up until now I've been using an old Acer n310 (WM5 and no phone capabilities and linked via bluetooth to a GPS module) with iGo 2006 (for about a year) and iGo8 (for the last 2 months). I've been trying TomTom 6 on and off. My job involves driving all around Munster and the iGo maps are far better to the TomTom 6 maps; more complete in terms of small roads, and more road and townland labelling. Also higher accuracy. So I'll be using iGo8 on the Diamond too. I definitely recommend it.
I'd been connecting the Acer to my bluetooth phone to use the internet and get my emails. I'm on O2 billpay and 250mb is €7.50 a month, which is great value. So the Diamond will mean one device instead of 3 for getting my emails, making calls, and navigating around the place.
Isn't there an issue that using alternative ROMs will cause the AGPS to stop working?
TomTom 6 uses the older navtek maps, TomTom7 uses the latest Teleatlas maps, which for W.Cork anyway seemed to have every little road, if you could call it a road. Some of the little lanes in W.Cork just aren't good for your suspension, I mean they are smaller than the width of my car and rougher than the dark side of the moon!
Using TomTom 7 on my Diamond + Uk/Ie Maps been to dublin cork waterford and never had any problems.

OK not pissed off - but as a matter of interest, if your link is dead how can anyone read about your phone?
here is the post.
Slighty used Tilt. I bought it in May of this year. It is unloacked and updated to Windows Mobile 6.1. It has a slight blemish on the "J" key but is completely functional. This is a great phone for a student or buisness person. If i wasn't switching to Apple Products i would keep it. Check online and see that $350.00 is a steal for this phone. Also i will show you all the websites that are specific to the Tilt for programs or Rom upgrades. I also would trade for a Iphone 3G. i can send pictures via email.
PC cable and house and car charger included, 2gb micro sd card too.
I got a 2nd hand diamond from eBay and imidiately face the GPS problem. I used a few HTC phones before. This is the first time.
I tried to read all the threads related to this GPS-not-working issue until this mroning 3AM. I still got no clue what is the definite solution. Can someone point out the direction? Or forum boss may stick it somewhere? Cheers

I went through that thread and found some guy like me asked 'my phone is Vodafone ...'. He got a repsonse like 'you use GSM, this is for CDMA. So better you find somewhere else like......XDA-Developer'.....???.....!!! I was confused by that.
So tell me, I can just follow the thread and use the software there to 'cook' my Diamond?

Very useful.
I currently use O2 XDA ORBIT. I travell arround the Europe and USA. I always use TTN in my ORBIT. It picks up the signal in seconds. I went to Portugal a few weeks ago and it even picked up signal inside the hotel (I did show that to the waitor and told him 'your roof is a bit thin...').
A few years ago, I rented a car from Hertz together with on-car GPS called 'NeverLost'. It was right to be called NeverLost...because it never picked up the signal.
