Howdy all!
Just found the forum via a Google search and was wondering if anyone can help - MANY apologies if this problem has been posted elsewhere (im a newbie here so please be gentle!), but ive just had a look but couldnt find anything......so here goes...
I've just got myself a XDA 2i today and having active sync'ed Tom Tom 5.1 to it i've come across a "program may not run correctly as its set up for older software" message. After running TT anyway it does indeed start, but cant seem to connect my wireless GPS receiver to it, and im just worried (having read elsewhere here) it could well freeze up in use if i perserve with it. Anyone have any advice?? Please??
I have a XDA 2 and my Tom Tom 5 runs perfect on it.........but am now left considering selling this new 2i on eBay (instead of the other one i'd intended) as i just want something that works. Can anyone help? Im just looking for some simple advice..........id REALLY appreciate it
Thanks in anticipation ............
Ant
Ps, I guess my main issue is just advice whether i should perservere with the XDA 2i (i just want Tom Tom to work!) - or sell and just stick with the XDA 2 that 'seems' to be less problematic. Im soooo desperate.........help!
Upgrade to 5.21
I'm not familiar with the Alpine but one thing that you should be doing for sure is to install the upgrade to 5.21.
Hope this helps!
Connect Tom tom Wireless Bluetooth GPS
Hello
I had TomTom installed in my Qtek 2020, and it worked.
I had a problem at first. I wasn´t able to connect with my wireless Bluetooth Gps, but then i set up the connection by setting it as "other NMEA cable GPS", strange, but it worked. I never could connect it as a "Generic Bluetooth Gps". I have a Pretec Gps Mini
I hope it works
Have you made sure "Receive all incoming beams" is NOT ticked in the settings - connections - Beam - menu? that is the normal culprit that we all forget!!!
Thanks SO much for the help guys....the 'incoming beams' thing did the trick......and it now recognizes TT5. THANKYOU!! Here's hoping it doesnt freeze up on me....! :?
With regards to the updated XDA2i not being compatiable with 'the older software im trying to run' would anyone recommend getting rid of it and sticking with the XDA2? The 2i is certainly the business with wi-fi, etc....but having uploaded a Commodore 64 emulator from Clickgamer (and having the same message pop up) i just dont know if im going to run into any other issues with this newer version of Windows its running. Any help would be really appreciated....thanks again
I would not worry about that pop up, it does it with loads of programmes, my 2i is very stable with tt5.2, even when using the phone via a BT headset and I have other programmes running in the background - the choice is SD card is more critical - Transcend 80x's seem to be the most stable.
Excellent...thanks for the advice!
Btw, just noticed the 'radio' thing in your signature......is it part of a download for the xda? Any other websites you'd recommend? My 2i is brand new out of the box and needing some cool gadgets put onto it! 8)
Thanks (again!) for all the help
Theres some good stuff on this site pdagold
It is freeware as well.
As for the Radio, I, along with many others have upgraded to Pugs rom, this seems to be the most stable one around, you can get it from the FTP part of this site, then just follow the instructions to reflash your rom.
a MASSIVE thanks for this.........sorry to be such a newbie, the advice here has been fantastic. Thanks alot!! :!:
i recommend pugz rom
i was using the o2 rom with tomtom 5.1 and and i kept loosing connection also had bluetooth issues, once installing the cooked rom, i've not experienced any problems
damned tt5.21
the problem is that I'm trying, at least, to let the O2 2i working with tomtom5.21 and fortuna clip-on gps receiver...
I read a lot of posts, so my beam settings are ok...
seems that tt5.21 don't want to communicate with the gps.
In fact the gps fixes (red light), but tt5.21 don't want to see it. It continue to say "no gps receiver", "signal lost from..." or, in the configuration, "Gps signal not good (or something else, I'm translating from italian)", and the small circle on the left up corner rolls, rolls, rolls...
so has any ideas? I'm not sleeping since 4 dayz....
tnx for all
pugz rom?
and where can I dl it? can so plz post me a link? tnx
*ant if you have problems with tomtom locking up swap sd card for a mmc card I was having problems with mine have had no lock ups since I changed to mmc

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with a Kaiser and wants his iGo working in it.
Everything seems ok, iGo starts but after some seconds it shuts down. I tried to change GPS port and everything else I could thought but problem persists. Any advice?

Did you try Tomtom before iGo? I have the same issue with google maps. It will seek sats and give up saying no gps signal. But if I run tomtom and then start gmaps it works fine (inside buildings). I would suggest you open iGO outside and check it out. Are you using COM4?
Will check... now he is travelling (Poland) but will call me when he came back.
I did not tried TOM TOM...
find a free program called GPS Test. Set it to Com 4 / 4800. Much smaller than TomTom and certainly an app that's worth keeping on it.
-Mc
the issue is that the internal GPS on the Kaiser needs to be "jump started" there a few apps that do this a free one that is also good is GPSViewer and the others mentioned above. I use TomTom well since it came with my Kaiser and with all that Damn Program memory who the hell cares if I use 10MB to install TomTom and a Map
I have never had problems with starting my GPS. I did a quick fix once and have used it with first Google maps (no problem) then Pocketstreets (again no issue) and finally Tom Tom.
I have never had to wait more than 20 seconds or so for a fix. Make sure you are outside before starting the application though.
Hi,
I`m facing this weird situation: Destinator (7.0.0.588.11) does not load if phone is on, after the splash screen it just closes (leaving a bar near the battery icon).
I'm using Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 (radio 1.65.14.06) but this problem also happened before with OEM 6.0 ROM.
If I turn phone off, Destinator loads fine.... It worked for weeks, but now I just cannot use Destinator...
Any clues ?
I have a similar problem with Garmin Mobile XT
It doesn't load if GPRS/EDGE is configured
try just removing any GPRS/EDGE connection and loading it
if it works, you have the same problem as me
but I didn't find any solution yet
Yes, runs ok with gsm off, even if I reinstall it would not run with phone on....
I'm having the same issues, but turning the phone off solves as you mentioned. At least there is some solution!
Do you guys think a radio downgrade would solve this issue ?

IGO my way 2006
It`s also happening with iGO my way plus 2006. Any ideas ?
Changed ROM but still crashing...
I'm now using L26 V9 but the problem persists. I think Destinator freezes when loading GPS, because yellow led does not blink at this time.
If I turn phone off, Destinator works fine...Any ideas ?
I just found the solution: Just delete SMSModule.dll in DestinatorApps/Destinator and it should work.

Destinator PN and AT&T Tilt
I have to say that I had been struggling with this program shutting down on my Tilt since 9/09, after having worked for more than a year. I resorted to using an old handheld device to navigate to new destinations while driving, something I do regularly as a social worker. And finally today, after doing much searching on the Internet and attempting different fixes, it appears the solution of deleting sms file is the answer. Thank you very much.

Seriously, marry me
I've given up using Destinator for months because I couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong and I installed iGo instead (which I don't like much).
THANKS MAN!!!

Really good man! Do we know why does that happens? I just like to be informed indeapth.
Does anyone have iGO 8 with Text to Speech enabled? Does your copy run well?
I have it working, but it is SLLLOOOWWW. The UI lurches, and the voice is choppy. It is acting like the Kaiser does not have enough resources to run it properly (which may be the case). If anyone has it working well, let me know what you did to get it working well (like your SYS.TXT settings, or other).
Thanks!
iGO8 problems
I am running iGO 8.0.0.49545 flawlessly on my Tilt with HPIII M2D December
3rd ROM. I recooked the ROM, but nothing that would effect the GPS. I am running the same radio as you too. IM me if you need anything such as files.
iGO 8.0 with normal voices was always stable for me, but with Text to Speech voices it seemed to crash a LOT more.
I'm trying iGO 8.2 right now, but I can't even get TTS to work on it at all.. Plus some bugs with POI icons... I think I'll be going back.
Bump? Anyone get this working reasonably?
I am also running iGO 8.0.0.49545 flawlessly on my Tilt with HPIII M2D December. Ran with L26 Diamond B6 as well. Here is what I found:
After first installing IGO8, it would go through my contacts (I have 400+) and try to geocache the addresses or something like that. While this was happening, it was mad slow, very choppy. Just let it run for as long as it takes to pop up a 'warning' like 'geocaching complete, failed to import x of y, do you want to see errors?'
It might not be called geocaching, but it is something very similar.
I can't guarantee that is the issue, but it worked for me.
I have the iGO8 running pretty good on my Kaiser, the only problem is that the voice seems to be small, at least smaller than what I saw on Garmin XT or Tomtom 7. Does anyone have any suggestion about this?

I tested TTS on OCN8 (aka iGO8) for PocketPCThoughts just a few months ago. Yes, it was very slow and frequently got itself very screwed up on directions -- correcting itself halfway through, dropping the remainder of a direction, etc.
I eventually just removed it. The 2.1 voices are much smoother.

Exactly the problem I'm having. I wish TomTom would support Navigator 7 for Kaiser.
I just installed the non-TTS voices personally. Although since I updated to 8.3, iGO8 takes about twice as long to startup now. Not sure why.

IGO 8 ??
and is there any links where we can download the IGO 8 ??
can someone share this
.PM if to sensitive
I am using Igo 8.3 and have been using 8.0 before.
I have stability issues with both versions (freeze/lockup/reboot) that i cannot seem to solve.
Using Dutty's Diamond rom and 1.65.16.25 radio.
Hard reset and only igo installed still has the same problems.
Anyone know what could cause the problem?
Hi,
I have a new Touch Diamond2, lovely device! (previously had TYTN, TYTN II and Touch Pro).
Anyways, i bought CoPilot 7 for Touch Diamond. Eventually got it installed but i couldnt get past the Tips and Tricks startup screen since the buttons were 'off screen' because of the new resolution of the Diamond2. Also, a lot of icons and buttons missing when i finally got it going, so i guess CoPilot 7 for Touch Diamond is not quite compatible with Diamond2! (there seems to be a CoPilot7 Live HD version comming soon, maybe that will be of help).
Also tried my old reliable TomTom6, that didnt work, kept crashing the phone on initial installation startup.
TomTom7 didnt fare much better, the .cab i used resulted in a 'This software is not intended for this device', or words to that effect.
Has anyone got any GPS software (preferably legit versions) working properly on the Diamond2?
Also, if anyone got the TomTom7 working, which cab version did they use? Hopefully i can use my old TomTom6 maps with it.
Thanks
M

TT 7 works bit has still some problems with the voices.
iGO 8.3.2 PDA version working without any problems!!!!
I've got the vanilla version of CoPilot on my TD2 and it seems to work fine except some parts of the UI are stretched a little. It all works fine though. See attached shots.
@jlp_svk
Nice to know, but how did you managed that igo 8 works fine?
I am tryin it a few days, maybe I am to stupid.
I got 2 folders 2 2577 and igo8. Copied both to sd and then I found language folder, buildings and so on in contend empty.
Can you give me a little advice. Thanks.

Hi,
Good to see someone got CoPilot working. May try and get a refund on the Touch Diamond version and get the 'normal' one which you have. Better still, if the supplier has this HD version, that would be the best for TD2.
My phone came with Route66 included and it works just fine.
cheers

If you get in touch with the Co-Pilot customer support people, they will send you D2 compatible CoPilot.

any working GPS with D2? There's plenty of them! Right now I'm testing iGo, Navigon, Garmin and Route 66, all of them working flawlessly
For all those are not satis with tomtom and clipping voice I can confirm that
IGO8 8.3.2.80621 PDA ist running perfect on D2.
Very goog gps reception and nice picture with TTS and 3D Picture.
My recomendation!!!!http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Navigon 7 ....
needs some changes but also works on Topaz......
Cheers
Michael
Garmin is OK.
Hey guys,
Thanks for all your advice and opinions on what software works with the Diamond2, good thing about the thread is that others new to the phone can benefit from this too
ALK, makers of CoPilot have given me a copy of the HD edition so hopefully that will run on the Diamond2 ok. I also installed Route 66 v7 and Garmin XT5 for the time being, they both work fine.

Hi,
I have also no GPS signal with my Touch Diamond 2. But I don't have TomTom, IGo or something else. I just want to get the GPS signal to use in QuickGPS. But there is no signal at all. Does anyone know why?
And where can I configure the internal GPS antenna? Is that possible?
For testing I downloaded and installed odgps (outdoor gps), but it get's also no signal. In odgps I have configured COM4 with Baudrate 9600. But no signal. Does anyone know how I have to configure GPS programs to get them work (as said, I cannot find a screen to get or set the configuration of the internal GPS antenna).
Could a hard reset help (as for the old Touch Diamond)? I would like to avoid that due to the destruction of the data...
Thanks in advance for your help and best regards,
B.
Garmin's GMXT runs well on the TD2. Only problem noted so far is that the GPS signal strength (green vertical bars) does not work - even after a sat lock is achieved.

Is there an alternative to GMXT?? I find it runs too slow for my liking (when I do browse map) I'd rather something like google maps style but can use offline. Tried using tracky but couldn't figure out how the hell to use it.

I have iGo 8.3 working on my Diamond 2 but I'm *really* unhappy about navigation speed. I thought, at first, that it was slow because of the screen size and resolution, but doing a preview on a route shows it can animate the screen more than quick enough.
Screen refresh only seems slow during live GPS navigation which leads me to think that it's this "GPS lag" that I've something only a little about.
Can anyone fill me in on it? Does it affect the Diamond 2? Are there any remedies or are some apps more affected by it?
I love my Diamond 2 but this is letting it down somewhat...
Google maps worked fine for me as well.
viaGPS 3.0 black edition works as well...
