Hello,
i have a very annoying problem with my WM5 (qtek9100) and WM6 (htc kaiser) devices:
The phones are configured to synchronize with an Exchange Server account.
During the wireless Synchronization process (3G or EDGE, Not via a computer), the status says "Synchronizing". As soon as new Emails, Appointments etc. are identified, the phone shows the number of open items correctly e.g. 25 E-mails and 50 Appointments.
After processing about 5-20 items (sometimes more or less), the synchronization process completes without any error leaving the remaining items unsynchronized.
I have to select "Sync" manually several times to get the device completely updated.
This problem exists with both devices.
Any help is appreciated.
Chris

I have an unlocked Treo 750 and am running ATT's version of WM6. Has anyone tried any of the other available ROMs and are there any advantages of one over the other. My phone is connected to a corporate email server running Windows Server 2007. There are periodic glitches, which require the phone to be soft reset, but all in all it works ok. One thing I have noticed is that when I update an existing entry on my Outlook calendar that information is not pushed to my phone. For instance if I receive a pop up for an impending appointment or task and choose to snooze it in Outlook it does not update my phone entry. The original entry remains the same. Does anyone have any other experiences with server based email which they would like to share.
One other item I have noted is that there is no way to schedule interactions between my phone and the server. Once the active sync client is set up on the phone you are connected 100% of the time which tends to eat up the battery. Any thoughts?
Open up Activesync on your device and go to menu/schedule and set your schedule there by using the dropdowns. My device is set to peak times of 7am to 11pm. I "As Items Arrive" for peak times, and manually for off-peak times. Between 11pm and 7am my device does not even connect to the net unless I trigger an event, like opening a web page.
I used to worry about battery life on my Treo 750 all the time until I got one of the Seidio 1600mAh extended batteries. This little gem gives me 33% more runtime (yes, it actually does in my measurements, and sometimes more) and fits in the same space as the wimpy 1200mAh battery Palm decided to provide us (no oversize cover needed!). I highly recommend you get one of these. Here is the link to the page:

Active Sync
Thanks for the response.
Our devices are configured so that email is pushed directly to the phone from our exchange server therefore the activesync client is not used on the local PCs. I went into the activesync client on my Treo and found where scheduling can be set for peak and non peak times. This way I can set the interval to up to 4 hours or to manual. It also allows you to set adjust what you consider to be peak and non peak times. Guess that I just did not look hard enough. That will do until I can get one of the extended batteries.
Thanks for you input. It definitely led me in the right direction.
Dear Forum Members,
Maybe some of you can help me out. Here is what's happening:
The Kaiser's GSM radio is switched on and the unit behaves totally normal. From time to time I sync the Kaiser via AS 4.5/USB with my desktop computer and MS exchange (as well via the desktop computer). After all syncs have been completed successfully I disconnect the USB cable and the trouble starts.
After about 2 to 5 minutes the Kaiser starts to build up a GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA connection to the internet and tries to sync itself with exchange, even though it is not supposed to do so. All exchange settings are switched to manual sync, MS Push is switched off. Disconnecting GPRS results in a re-connection 2 to 5 minutes later. Stopping email programm, Async and connection manager on the kaiser does not fix the problem, the GPRS connection is again established.
Only work around for me at the moment: placing Kaiser next to computer speakers on my desk so that I hear that the phone is showing unwanted activity; if it does: soft reset.
Has anyone any idea what could cause this behavior? As mentioned above, it only happens after syncing the Kaiser with exchange, all exchange sync modes are set to manual.
This really did cost me some bucks while being abroad recently since I did not notice that GPRS was on all the time.
Thank you all!

did u try some system tool to see what processes are the kaiser runing? Try to see the running processes before and after the sync, maybe the sync starts some process that is causing your problems.
I upgraded to dutty's 6.1
I can sync to desktop by usb and to exchange by internet, but I can't sync to exchange by usb and get error message 80072f78 -
any solutions
not trying to be rude or anything, but googling that error code came up with a wealth of info.
i know...
Thanks for answering;
I tried a) deleting proxy server - didn't work b) registry change - didn't work c) changing activ sync connection to internet from automatic - didn't work
It's stupid because I can sync to exchange via internet (just not via usb) so it's not a big deal - just annoying
I'm kind of stuck - more suggestions welcome
Heelppp - please
Are you running 4.5? Try uninstalling and reinstalling activesync.
If not, try this.
0x80072f78 but not the same circumstances
Hi
Hi
I tried searching for this error 0x80072f78 message and I don't seem to get this message under the same conditions listed in the posts that I've found. I am getting the message at random in PIE with either GPRS/3G or when connected by USB. I have no problems downloading mail but can't use anything else for data (google maps etc). It doesn't happen every time but is very spotty. ATT tech support was no help as usual. I applied the registry change in the posts that discuss this error in relation to USB/active sync only and it did nothing. I'm using the latest att rom.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I've followed all of the suggestions that I can for people that are having the problem with active sync only and that has done nothing. I still have the problem when connected to gprs/3g. I have yet to find someone else posting that has this problem with both.
Thanks
Well add me to that list then. A user I provide support for has an unmodified Hermes (yes I know this is the Kaiser forum) that was exhibiting this behaviour over the air. (But was fine over USB.)
It turned out that he had a proxy server configured on his 3G/GPRS internet connection (with T-Mobile) but that setting was no longer appropriate, due to changes made at the T-Mobile end. Switched off the proxy server setting and all was well again.

Thank the Lord for search functions - was having this exact issue and it was driving me NUTS! Anyway if you are having trouble syncing over gprs but not over USB then this is the fix! Thanks
Tasks Exchange
I get this error when tasks on my exchange (mail2web.com) account is active and my tasks on my AT&T Tilt is active. When I deactivate (options) the exchange tasks and the phone tasks, then activate only the phone tasks the error goes away.
Ciao
Does anybody else use Gmail, or any other email with IMAP through their Kaiser and experience problems?
Probably 90% of my Send and Receives end up with the error "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server...". Despite the status at the bottom progressing from Connecting --> Logging on --> Receiving Headers --> Disconnecting. This happens whether connected via HSDPA, WiFi, or sharing my computer's connection via USB.
I'm pretty sure I have the settings right as like I said, sometimes all the folders will synchronise and emails download correctly. Gmail also works fine through Outlook on my computer.
I use Gmail with IMAP and don't have any problems. I use it with both Gmail and my own domain (using Google apps)
None
No problems here either.
no problem, but i use flexmail in order to use IMAP Idle.
I occasionally have the same problem with GMail. You will need to unlock the CAPTCHA. I will go for weeks without a problem, and then I'll have a few days when I have to do this 3-4 times a day.
First, close down your e-mail client. Then go to https://www.google.com/accounts/displayunlockcaptcha and complete all the fields.
Once you've done that, restart your e-mail client and it should work.
Hope this helps!
the problem might be that you are connected to your account from another place (PC, other PPC,...) at the same time. i think this could cause some problems with IMAP. make sure you are not connected to your account from elsewhere and then try with kaiser
I guess it just checks for new mails, and nothing else,I had same problem, it just used d/l new emails only. so if u go to gmail a/c and check d/l mail from so and so date, that might help.

That *shouldn't* happen as IMAP explicitly allows multiple connections, and actually makes allowances for this. I use Flexmail too which works fine, sorry I can't be more helpful
I've tried unlocking the Captcha, resetting the mail program. I'm now in the process of archiving my emails and reducing the size of the folders I synchronise. Hopefully it's as simple as the Kaiser struggling with message quantity.
Failing that, I'm going to trial Flexmail although I begrudge paying for a client when I've got a half decent (supposedly,) one pre-installed.
A week or so ago I realized I wasn't getting any emails. It turns out activesync is no longer automatically syncing my exchange account (with sherweb). My other computers still work fine, but in order to sync my kaiser I have to go to activesync and actually tap "sync" instead of it happening automatically all day and night long like it used to and should. I didn't add any new software or change any settings. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
