HI all!
How can I hide the sim contacts? Which is the registry key to modify?
I've tried TweakUI (modified for Trinity) and all tweak works, except "Show/Hide SIM contacts".
Greetings
Using htc sim manager, you can:
A) Move all sim contacts into an outlook contact(put pictures, etc) vice versa
B) Delete all sim contacts/outlook contacts
No reason you need to have both
I've all my contacts on device, but I want to leave saved the contacts also on my SIM card. The method to hide them, there is.

Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
Key: ShowSim (dWord)
Set it to 0
But it'll go back to 1 if you Reset the device.
I installed PocketCM, since it doesn't show SIM i don't have to hide it anymore. Looks nicer too.
There was a file posted on this board to fix that issue. I forgot who posted it but here it is.
Thank you a lot! It works

Just moved over from Symbian UIQ 3 (m600i). I have no idea what CABS are and how to install the file you attached.
I also want to rid myself of seeing duplicated names as I want to see phone contacts but also retain SIM contacts. I go diving and change mobiles and still need the names & numbers.
copy the CAB to your phone and browse to it via the File Browser.. then execute.
not work!
please
This DOES work:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.

I made and posted it only to modaco.com, but it's nice to know it made it here too; considering it's the only one I know of that works after soft-reset.

@f1ip: I don't have Pocket CM, but KaiserTweak is an easy way to hide SIM contacts (and it's only 377 kB + 47 kB for the .xml file, so it's not a memory hog)
@Corrupted Sanity: I too switch phones sometimes - don't want to take the expensive PDA to some environments.
@Everybody: I find that even though I have "Hide SIM Contacts" enabled, Voice Command still looks at them when I ask to dial a contact, and says "Showing 2 Found" and then asks which one you want to dial - a - anyone else have this experience?
Would like to have Voice Command ignore SIM contacts - the "Showing 2 Found" thing is so annoying that I ended up deleting all my SIM contacts, then I have to copy them back to the SIM if I want to transfer the SIM to another phone.

Post #11 of this thread. Enjoy.
is there a way of limiting the number of recent programs that show up?
thanks
I'm guessing you're looking for helpful registry locations to check out, and I can't help there. My only thought was changing the number of programs always displayed on the front page (Start,Settings,Menu, tick/untick the apps you always want displayed).
I realise this isn't an ideal solution, or possibly even useless, but it does sort of meet your requirements in that the more programs you have 'stuck' permanently to the start menu directly effects (affects?) how many 'recent' programs can be displayed...
Anyone else ever figure this out? I intentionally pair down my start menu, but now it is the entire vertical length of the screen because of the recent programs list. I've searched here and google.
You need to install this cab file. It will delete the recent programs entries when you soft reset.
Excellent, thanks for the help.

Hmmm, mine seems to do this anyway - which I don't always want. Wonder if there's a setting somewhere?
thanks, but i dont softreset my device so often. it would be nice if they were a reg hack or so to limit it...

After sleuthing through the forum archives I have finally found out why I have not been getting missed call notifications on my phone. The MyFaves collection of programs (I do not know which one) are recording the missed calls in their own log, not the one that the phone uses to give notifications. I am using ultimate launcher and the Myfaves Today-plugin is hidden.
The problem:
When contacts on the "myfaves list" call and get missed, there is ONLY a notification on the myfaves application. If the today plugin for myfaves is disabled you will only be able to see that you've missed a call by looking at your call history.
The suggested solutions:
1) Many have suggested removing "list" from HKLM/security/phones/nolog registry.
What happens to me is that the list file is regenerated every soft-reset!!
2) I have used the deletemy5messagecenter.cab.
The cab, they do nothing. All it did was make my5msgcenter unrecognizable.
3)Flash the wing with any ROM not containing myfaves
Maybe some other time
My own questions:
1) How do I permanently remove 'List'?
2)Is there a way to remove My5App.exe, My5MsgCenter.exe, My5Service.exe from my windows folder? They are always checked as "read only" and "system" files.
Thanks for your help!
Yeah, MyFaves can be managed through my-tmobile.com, and I'd really rather not having the app on my Wing. Many times when I press the Talk button twice (to dial the last person I called) it will dial the last Fave I called... not cool.
I'll prob end up flashing a custom ROM onto my Wing eventually, but if there's an easy way to get rid of MyFaves in the mean time, that would be great.
NS
I found this reg edit in a thread here of people who wanted to use for non-myfave plans.
HKLM > SOFTWARE > HTC > My5 > SMSC > CmdGet > StateRequest
Open value ClientService and change the value from 1 to 0
The above steps work for a while but then the same issue started up even with the myafve app disabled so I tried fooling around with the other settings within the myfave reg sections but they restored to the default setting after a reset & the same problems continued. I finally restored my phone from a back I had & disabled it again. After that everything was in place but I found at the start of my current bill cycle I got a ota that set the myfave display back on my phone. I had to enable it & turn the display off & disable it all over again. So far all my calls are being logged with the custom tones I have in place.
1. Install a custom ROM.
2. Install HTCHome if it's not in the ROM you chose.
3. Setup HTCHome to handle your "top 5".
4. Use tmobile's site or call in to change the top five when you have to.
Now you have your problem fixed and oodles of more free RAM, storage space and a much faster device.
Hmmmm... it does seem like the only way is to install a custom ROM on there. This is because the software is self regenerating. Too bad... I guess the reason I couldn't find an answer is because this problem doesn't exist because everyone has custom roms.

Well... under hklm/services disable the SMSC something or other...
Then under \windows\startup items, rename the my5 item. Powercycle then delete the item. That should disable it from turning itself on. A custom ROM will always be better, though.
If I had two phones, I'd make a video comparison of a stock ROM and a custom ROM...
As far as VGCats go, they do rock, and I haven't gone to his site in a while because I noticed he stopped updating it. What's up with him?
Thanks for the reply my friend. I'll try it out.
Scott from VG cats got busy with his personal life, but he promised regular updates a few weeks ago.
Update:
Okay, So I had already removed the my5 link from my \windows\startup folder. Then I Changed the registry entry at hklm\software\htc\my5\smsc\cmd get\staterequest. I changed value of 1 ==> 0 for "ClientUIOnOff".
After a soft reset The ClientUIOnOff was still set to 0. I no longer had a myfav icon in my today tray.
After calling my phone and initiating a missed call. My phone would still not notify me of a missed call from a fav of mine.
I'm going to try and delete the "list" registry value I mentioned earlier... stay tuned viewers of few.
update to my update:
"list" still returns! oh dear... I'll have to work on this tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's help!
So I went into the registry and went to HKLM > SOFTWARE > HTC > My5. I changed the name of the "My5" folder to "disabled My5" folder. soft-reseted and upon reset I deleted my "list" entry in the registry. Wahlah It worked. A missed call from a myfav was notified by my phone!
Did you remove the SMSC service from the registry? Oh and I forgot, also from the hklm/init
Because our great chefs are not so great in collaborating and because i am fed up with tough decisions like choosing between the ROMs when each one has another bug that the other solved, i decided to open this new thread with the most common bugs i encountered and with the fixes i found.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
The recorder is *.wav file and saved at My Documents\Notes.

14-for in-call record without any 3d party app you also use the cab posted by mskip (thank you!)

14.1 best IRC solution imho, is the HTC's own program. you can find the program and a few explanations here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3800829&postcount=183
this one should be used only after editing the registry as described in fix 13 or (as i discovered by chance) you can first install mskip's cab (the cab is going to edit the registry for you) and after that install the HTC's app found in the above link.
15-Dayligt savings bug in new ROMS (thanks to tipistri)

Read carefully the whole thread - there seems to be some troubles with the cab (works only cooked?):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3586516#post3586516
18-4 columns "Programs" tab (thanks to cerato...again)
Add Registry entries:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Add New Key "IconConfig"
In there Add DWORD Value:
"HorizontalIconSpacing" Dec value="112"
"VerticalIconSpacing" Dec value="115"
"IconTitleFontSize" Dec value="6"
19-Old start menu, old programs tab with 4 icons plus 4 icon program launcher!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501701
20-Work around HTC album half screen zoom problem! (thanks you oemie!)
The workaround is found in Flip_it (from the WildBerry Team)
In many roms Flip_it is already cooked in (i am using Miri rom so i had to install myself) so that is easy.
When you set Flip_it to rotate 0 and 270 degrees, and after that choose HTCAlbum.exe and also check 0 and 270 degrees then the problem is solved.
You can dubble tap on a picture in landscape and the picture is zoomed how it should.
I think till a real solution comes, this is the way..
21- Restoring the multiple snooze option in Notification Manager (thanks, biiig thanks to crackwhore and avimak)
21.1-crackwhore elegant solution for letting the graphically chic Notification manager but allowing multiple snooze options in the notification bubble is here (cab file):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3716251&postcount=2280
21.2-avimak's more radical solution for the ones that want to have again the option to get the command manger and volume control by clicking the top task bar:
If you're using Dutty X3 ROM (for sure not only Dutty's) you should have this files:
NotificationLayout.dll
NotificationManager.dll
replace them with text files having the same name. avimak's advice is to use non empty files (type yr name inside, for example) but i can say it worked even with empty files.
22-Change the firsat day of the week in Calandar TouchFlo 3D from Sunday to Monday (thanks to HDuser and to NiGhTTraX!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3756267&postcount=3463
please do not post question here! this thread is for fixes (problems solved). if you have a fix. you are invited to post it here or PM me and i'll update the first post.
If you like what i did and you are over 18 go to closest pub and donate yourself a beer or/and kiss yr girl friend/wife!
If you like what i did and you are under age go and play with your friends and forget about your PC and this forum for at least a few hours!
Great initiative, since the rom cookers dont collaborate no more we need such threads for us users, and rom cookers.
I hope this'll open eyes of the ones not sharing and not taking advantage of the bugreports here.

In the first post, you better change the headline "More than 3 lines in SMS." because this is only for the input-field in outlook(!) by threaded layout.
Related to new manila ROMs "3 lines in SMS" imply the new manila SMS layout, which cut messages after some characters (normaly 3 lines).

Must be a sticky in my opinion,
Just wondering if any of you have come across this bug in Duttys V2.3 which I've posted in the thread but I've had no responses.
Maybe you are able to help?
I have restored the Programs Tab and the Old Start Menu. If I enter the Programs Tab the 2 soft keys at the bottom are All Programs & Remove as normal. But if I click on any other Tab, i.e. Weather etc All Programs & Remove remain as the soft keys. A soft reset returns everything to normal i.e. New SMS & Contacts in Home Tab. Only problem is everytime I enter Programs Tab they return to All Programs and Remove and stay this way until I reset again!
EDIT
Another little bug which appears once you have returned to the old start menu and restored the programs tab is if you open any program through the programs tab the start menu is automatically opened along with program??
Any solutions to either of these??

Contacts BUG (doesn't read SIM contacts):

1 big issue I ran into:
When I go to Messages, and create a New text message, then under Menu > Add Recipient; I can *only* select from my Contacts & Company Directory; but *not* from my SIM card.
Can anybody else see the contacts on their SIM there, or it's a bug? Personally, I want to keep my contacts only on my SIM, because it makes the flashing easier, and if my phone would break, I would still have all contacts on my SIM...

Many people asked to hide sim contacts in all the roms, in "old" roms too. So, in my rom they are hidden by default and there's ING_HideSIM_V_2_1 too.

Thnx! Worked fine on WinMo 6.1
I have a feeling everyone knew this except me... but
If you are getting the double contact suggestion list with writing an SMS, you can disable the WM suggestions with the reg key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Inbox\RecipientAutocomplete]
"MaxSuggestions"=dword:0
Everything works fine for me after that.

So I loaded a new rom (energyrom3.0) running WM 6.5.
and when i did my restore for all my contacts etc using pimbackup, i see my contacts list just fine. but when someone calls, i just see their number no name or anything!!
i restored again and still no caller id....
I did a search and im not finding any info on this.
can someone tell me what Im doing wrong??
(htc fuze running energy rom 3.0)
it sucks not knowing whos calling or texting me, now I have gotten into the habit of not answering my phone because of this issue...
I cant memorize all my contacts !
Thanks for any help
anyone seen this?
its probably some setting that I have not seen...
yep - im getting the same problem and raised a
separate thread - lots of views but no replies
i think its a wm6.5 issue.
im on energy rom - which is superb so far - but the callerid and sms id is causing me problems so i may have to revert to an older rom
I can't say that I've experienced this. (Running RRE's rom though) Have you tried install slide to unlock just for the full screen caller id that it has? (you can disable the actual locking part if you dont want it). Also, what dialer are you using?
I used active sync and outlook for my syncing and backing up my contacts and it all worked fine with nrg 3.0.
yea i have a buddy that uses outlook sync to restore.
how do i use that?
im using the stock dialer.
try s2u2 you say?
i ahve had it in the past, i will install that and see how it works. just so many dam options when setting it up. can be a bit time consuming...
thanks for the replies peeps
where are your contact pictures located? In the past, if you stored them on the Storage Card, then it could also cause a delay/issue. Just a thought for something to try.
yep - i also used pimbackup - and energy 3.0 - and im having the same problem.
wonder if its to do with the backup/restore rather than syncing

I think you should just memorize all of your names and numbers. Think how much more that would impress your friends than a fancy phone...
Try ActiveSync on the PC. If you are on Vista, you will need Windows Mobile Device Center, which unbeleivably does not auto-install with a new OS image. You can find it on Microsoft website for free, the same for ActiveSync if you are on XP. However, to use Activesync, you really need Outlook to get much value out of it. The huge upside is that if you use Outlook and ActiveSync, you will have a copy of all your contacts in 2 different physical locations.

is this happening to anyone else??
i have fixed this - somehow ?!
removed icontact - and deleted the icontact 'contacts file'
did a new PIM backup - hard reset
when i looked at the texts they still had numbers not names, however i spotted that i had over 500 texts !!! cleared the lot of them out and everything working fine. callerID and text recognition perfect ....
Whether it was PIM backup, icontact or sheer volume of texts i dont know but what I can say is that its NOT the ROM.
im a happy bunny now
I am having the same problem, curently running At0mAng V5.1 WWE with WM 6.1. I did use PIM backup to restore, but to try to fix this problem I erased all of my contacts and restored them with Activesync. No luck, I suppose I should try a hard reset.

Yes really,.... If you hit the pwr button to off then back on, the callerID will be displayed. It's like a refresh of the lock screen. As for Energy Rom, I've been using Da_G's kitchen to cook since 21169 till 21222 and CallerID hasn't worked on the lock screen unless I do the pwr button trick.
I however have been using Exchange 2007 to sync my contacts in all versions though. Maybe it's something with that? I don't know...hopefully it will get resolved though.
Same prob here, I can tell u how to fix it..
Ive had the exact same problem with my stock Fuze. I checked HTC and even called them. Tried for nearly 3 hours on ATT talking with tech support. Yet these ppl only know whats written in their books. We, the ones that actually tweak and figure out the "bugs" in certain systems r the ones that know the answers. Thats why I love this site! .... sorry, got carried away. ... OK, ur most likely using the Advanced Config 3.3, if so, thats where the problem lies. If u go down to the "Phone" tweak inside of Advanced Config and set the "purge SIM contact when no SIM" Set this to YES. Now it DOES NOT delete the contacts as it says it should when u remove the SIM card and reboot. Instead it cuts off the NAME of ur caller ID yet still shows the number. Ive done about 12 master resets tryin to find the exact reason I kept losin my Caller ID name. This IS why. Though I have a different ROM, this just may be a bug that affects the entire system of any fone. Now my Caller ID works fine. When I install Advanced Config 3.3 and tweak it, the only things I change under the "Phone" catagory are Clean Period, cuz I like having all my calls in the dialer, and number of ID matches. Also when u install HD Tweak or Diamond Tweak do not set the ring to "Instant Ring". This will also cut the name of the Caller off. Yet u can change the "Ring Delay" to WITHOUT DELAY. This will solve the delay problem as well as the Caller ID disappearing act. I actually found that under another thread here. Both tweaks r set and my Caller ID has yet to cut off again. I may be wrong, yet it never hurts to try right? Good luck, hope this helps!
hi there,
also in advanced config is an option to use x digits as id.
i had the issue of it not recognnising contacts between 0 numbers and +44 numbers.
so i set this valuie to 10 digits then it doesnt matter about the zero or +44.
worth a shot.

Mine was set to Yes by default, should I set it to no? How about show Sim contacts in contacts? Very interesting though...
The only thing I save with PIM backup are my phone calls and messages. Therefore, I rely on Outlook to sync the remaining data such as contacts and appointments and I never have issues with any rom from any device using this method.
