I figured someone might know of a way to change the few little things that annoy me with my TyTn II. Ive had it for a while and pretty much only use it as a phone, now I have more free time to play around with it, and searching through threads & accroynms I'm starting to figure out what everyone it talking about.
Here are the few things that but me.
After a call screen locking bug - but I found a thread and fix for it, sad that HTC still hasnt fixed it though.
SMS sent notification - I seriously wish it wouldnt tell me the message has been sent and I can hit dismiss or doing something else and it goes away, but it still pops up and gets in the way.
New SMS - most phones you can click a button to stop the vibration or sound, I dont like how it vibrates non stop for a very long time and or I have to wait for the sounds to finish it, I cant cancel it by click the phone end button or any button for that matter. I have a sound that is kind of long, its funny, but I dont always want to listen to it all the way through.
Anyone know of registery fixes or programs/patches please let me know! Thanks
Try this to disable the SMS Sent notifications
can be uninstalled via remove programs too if you want them back
let me know if it works (it works for me on my hermes)
Thanks I'll try tonight when I get back home.
Also I wonder if its a setting, but FF at home and IE7 at work, when I try to click on quick reply and try to click any of the icons, it wont active, I normally have to click on quote to be able to reply, I didnt think it was a setting in my user CP, and two different PC/Browsers wasnt sure what the problem is.
Um.. why not just download KAISER TWEAK. It has all those annoying options in there so you can tweak them yourself. Do a search for it.
Kaisertweek does fix most of the issues you are talking about and you don't even need to search, all you have to do is LOOK at the first page of the Kasier general forum, it is one of the stickies on the first page.
Good luck with your Kaiser
Ok this fixed most of my issues. I got to check out something else tomorrow and see if I'm still having the problem.

I'm having this problem. And the sms delay on writting too. It is a real annoyance 'cause I can not write nice poems to my love anymore. :?
But I think would be better to open another thread. So I'm doing it...
PD: the prooooooooooooooooblemmmmmmmmmmmm with words repeating were showing on 2003SE also....
i also get it but only on wm5
annoyance
c'mon, people, nobody with a solution???
I have the same problem.
Some programs in WM5 tend to take up processor cycles, and appear to be causing the problem.
Problem is, there are MANY possible programs (causes).
For me, the most common cause is Internet Explorer. Go to "Memory" in Settings, and close all tasks. Then try using the keyboard again. If it works, then you know that's the cause. Then, you can try to narrow down the program that's the processor hog.
Good luck!
turn down the repeating speed, it is in start>settings>keyboard>repeat settings. set it low so it will not repeat like that
First of all, thanks for your answers!

Yeah, I thought so, anyway I'm having the same problem on the SMS window. It seems to do a redraw (or better, a recalc) every time I push a letter on my keyboard, and it looses words. Took me 'bout 10 times to get the right number on the 'To:' field. I was always getting +3423888888888 etc...

Doesn't work for me either. The sliders are on its lowest position...
Didn't you guys are having this havoc on your devices??
I don't know what is happening with my baby
Any Ideas??
Maybe a little fix.
Also had a problem about the words repeating thing.
But that time my device is downclocked to 299mhz by that time.
I did a soft reset first then overclocked my device to 531mhz.
after writting a message it seem to have improved significantly.(But it still lags
for a second or half sometimes.)and the words repeating seems to be gone.
But im not totally quite sure.Still need to check it more. And tell you how's it going.
O and lastly im just wondering how come it's soo slow to open a message and switch to other messages?Unlike 2003 se which only takes a second or soo......
I'm using pocket hack master to over/downclock my device.

The reson for the redraw, I think, is the number of characters in the message display at the bottom (i.e 1/168)
If I write an email the redraw problem is not present - if I swith to SMS it comes back...
Yeah, a clever think would be to switch this counter off. I haven't found it on the registry, nor a hack.
My question: if before it was ok, why change it?
Well anyway it is not the only reason for this word repeating problem. It appears on other programs also.
And no solution yet
Haven't had time to try brentchua solution...

Yeah, at the end we will have a very advanced phone capable of doing nothing useful because everything has to be turned off...

stop complaining... if u don't like it just downgrade back to 2003 se and everything will work. You should realise that the blue angel wasn't made for WM5. That it works with WM5 is great...but as long as there is no official release u shouldn't complain..... It's just the way it is...

1- I'm complaining because this problem was already happening on 2003se (please, read above).
2- After so many problems with bluetooth, AD2P, etc, don't you think we deserve more attention from the ones that sold this devices to us?
3- If I stay on WM5 is because I realize the BA performs just ok on this OS. I'm using it mainly for work purposes.
4- Complaining is also a way of start doing things later. Something has to come first... :!: I've complained to I-mate about this problem when I had the original 2003se. No answer to date. That's why I decide turn back here and do this wonderful upgrades to my device.
What I find is this forums (as all of them in the 'net) are quite hard to search and find answers. Somehow we should find the answers given and put them in a common place (the good answers!!) i.e. the Wiki!
Anyway, what I'm looking for is answers and share them...
etc-.
ad2p
My keyboard problems seems to have almost dissapeared after turning off the word correction option. It seems is a CPU intensive program or so... Inside Word, however, the problem sometimes arises...

But it seems there's still problems...
no avail
I´m having again this problem. I´ve done what have been suggested about changing the registry values for adjusting the priority values... still having this problem.
I use the device for writing a lot and any help would be very handy.
Anyone, please?
Thanks!
problem is fixed in newer roms which pagepool size have been increased.
try the AKU3.5 ROMs
Good Afternoon
I had a new TyTN II Delivered from orange after mine was nabbed at the weekend, and i locked it remotely. When i make a call now all is hunky dory, but whilst in that call if i go to press START for example nothing will happen, so again i try another way and press X to go to the today screen to then press start, Nothing happens.
I inform my caller ill call them back, and end the call by either pressing "End Call" or pressing the Red Button, and then instantly the Back light defaults to a very low setting, and it did NOT do this on my previous TyTN II.
I have spent a fair while looking through here and google (and also MoDaCo Forums) trying to find a solution. I only know of one other person on MoDaCo who has the problem, and i have tried hard reset on the device too to no avail.
It is a Orange HTC TyTN II, so i have called them also for advice and they know about as much about it as i do.
This is a plea for someone here maybe to lend me a hand and sort this out, otherwise its going to collide with the nearest large surface in the next few days ha ha.
Thanks again for reading, and I hope someone can help me!

screen off
I select don't blank/turn screen off in a call, as I often want to enter dtmfs for mailboxes, or conf calls, downside uses a bit more battery
Hi mgr2003.
I have these options set, and it doesnt make a blind bit of difference unfortunately. I was hoping for some kind of CAB file for a fix? I dont know whats wrong with this device but its not as good as my previous TyTN II.
Sean
This question keeps being asked about once every week since the TyTNII came out. Sorry, but it is getting a bit annoying....
Once again: it´s caused by a bug in the HTC ROM and happens when a device password is set and the backlight times out during a call. Solution: disable the device password or - if you want to keep the password - push the power button twice after a call and you are back in business.....
That would be an all well and good answer but i do not have a password set on my device, so the answer doesnt justify?
Cheers for the Advice though.
Sean
I also have that problem with my tilt....when i am on a call the screen turns off..How can i disable this?
In that case I apologize for my somewhat rude reply. Your problem description just seemed to fit that bug exactly....
Sorry, have no idea what else may be causing that behaviour. Good luck, and if you manage to fix your issue be sure to let us know!
Did you use Kaiser Tweak to disable fast sleep?
Hi
I havent done anything to the device, it is exactly as shipped by OrangeUK. Its only 3 days old now, so not even had a second to do anything but use it.
Sean
I have an Orange TYTN II and this bugged me too.
Download Kaiser Tweak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898
Follow instructions on thread and disable Fast Sleep (advised)
Normal Backlight and Power Settings will still be active
is there any way to prevent diamond from vibrating on startup?
thank you!
There probably is but it woudl mean you have to go through the registry to find the relevant keys and adjust them. I myself dont know which keys would do the job but im sure someone here will be able to help you out.
Now this is probably not the answer you are looking for - but why? Not trying to flame or anything, but I've noticed sometimes a lot of energy can be spent on irrelevant problems. With all due respect, this seems like one of those to me.
A bit more to the point - I strongly doubt a registry value can change that - the vibration occurs apparently BEFORE the operating system is loaded, so registry is meaningless at this point.
I think the phone does a self-test....like said before: it does vibrate before the OS loads, so I don't think there is any registery tweak for this

Ya it does, it cheks all the systems on startup. So be worried if it does NOT vibrate, means your vib crappppeddd out.
Cheers boys

sure it's one of the less important things...
but for me it's a annoying one because i always let spb-backup do a daily backup (which is rebooting after the job) early in the morning when i'm still sleeping - it was fine with trinity (there i had also to do a reg-tweak to disable startup-animation with sound) - with diamond sometimes i get scared from the vibration...
and yes - i'm not sleeping like a log...

Hehe - I see your point. Not much you can do about it though, I'm afraid.
This being said, if that vibration wakes you up, I really hope your home is VERY soundproof
Or simply put your diamond on or under a pillow.
Obviously there needs to be a movie about those horrible phones that go around terrifying people in their sleep!
That said, presumably you are putting the phone on a hard surface? Try putting it on something soft and wooly. Should significantly cut down the noise from those demonic vibrations.
Don't think there's a way to do that. The Touch Cruise does the same, and no one has figured out a way to disable it there as far as I know.
The issue with putting it on a soft surface to not make noise is (presumably) that if he did get an actual call or message, it would also silence that as well.
Can you change your schedule for SPB Backup to do its thing just as you go to sleep instead of in the middle of the night? Or if you don't always sleep at the same time, kick it off manually just as you go to sleep or step into the shower?
I know these don't solve your question, but are ideas to create the desired outcome
i hope i am not ruining this important topic with my high tech proposal for a solution.....
maybe it will be less stressful if you'll program the back up at a different hour....let's say ....when you are brushing yr teeth in the evening....BEFORE you go to sleep.
the back up (thanks god for SPB backup, it saved my ass so many times) takes only 3-4 minutes. right before you'll go to the lalala world you'll hear the reassuring vibe and you'll fall asleep with a smile on yr face knowing that the job is done.
good night, sweet prince. good night back-uped diamond....
I love how this topic gets so many replied but more usefull problems get none. Got to love the internet
I could code you a microcontroller to ignore any vibration signal for the first 30 seconds from start. All you'd need to do is open your diamond and solder it inside.
Hey its a solution

Loving the Diamond... but big issues have come up and they are starting to make it difficult to really use the device. I am trying to determine if the issues I am having are brought on by myself or if the issues are related to some challenge with the phone or my carrier.
"What's the issue," you ask?
The Diamond will not pick up a call. The phone will ring, the caller display will come up, I'll try and pick it up by either pushing the onscreen command or pick it up via the pick-up button... nothing. The call rings through to voicemail. Meanwhile I have to call the person back who just called me. Massively irritating and even more irritating it's does actually pick up SOMETIMES. The problem is I cannot determine why it works sometimes and why it does not. 90% of the time it does not work. When I do get it to work all I need to do is activate my bluetooth headset and then turn it back off and we are back in the same situation where the phone will not answer, however, this time... the phone does not RING either! Yes that's right - all sounds go bye bye on the phone when I activate BT and then turn it off. Also, I cannot pick up the phone with bluetooth headset. I can hear the phone ring through and everything looks dandy but no go! Push the pick-up button - nothing. This isn't such a big deal really - I mean - who cares if it picks up on the BT headset - I just want to be able to answer a call in general!
Now - I do have a lot of applications on the machine from a modifcation perspective and I am thinking this could all very well be my fault. I have Advance Config, Diamond TF3D config, and Diamond Tweak all loaded (each have their own benefit.)
Strange thing is... I just did a test and the phone picks up JUST FINE. I'm about ready to pull my hair out. It's really hard to put my finger on it. Tried it a second time, if I try to answer with the soft key it won't work but the hard key will work. Now the hard key will not actually hang up the call - I have to use the softkey to hang it up. I don't know if anyone is having the same issues but I am to the point of hard-reset to start from scratch.
I actually had the "can't pick up" problem just yesterday, but with my Prophet. Using Pdaviet's MyVista 6.1 Rom and S2U2. The phone rang, S2U2 displaying the full screen call notification, no chance of picking up the call.
Do you also use S2U2?
When you find your self in a hole, it usually helps if you stop digging.
Unpalatable as it might seem, I think with hassles like you've got, a HR is probably your best option.
ps, just a thought, have you at any stage in your tweaking done any button or key re-mapping... either inadvertently or by design? Maybe worth a check before giving up
wow, that's a whole load of issues
I've had my Diamond for about a week now..... and have had none of those issues..... Bluetooth works fine, picking up is a breeze....
what provider are you with?
I remember reading more complaints about sound going bye after Bluetooth use in the early days of the Diamond. Try searching around a bit and see if you can find something. However, seeing your other issues, a hard-reset might not be out of place.
Also, for aesthetics, do note that it is usually considered bad practice to place two identical symbols after each other when masking cursewords with random characters.

By far probably the best advise yet!
The emotional side... aka incredible hulk... came out and punched shift/keyboard number row (pounded rather.) I was thinking in my head, "smash Diamond" and the KB had to take the abuse.
Carrier information for those who asked.
CDMA Diamond on the lovely Telus system (aka - Tel-us, we take your money)
As with all troubleshooting, you need to start from beginning. When you first got the phone, it could answer call. Right? So you need to trace back to what have you done to the phone step by step and to find out when it starts to fail.
Doh... Well I reset the device... seems to work now but something that seemed to be working before was my Zune subscription music from Zune Pass was synching to my mobile device via a Synch Center setup. I was amazed it was actually working... now it's not working So - I get calling back and lose the little trick that was working - Zune Pass DRM music synching with my Diamond... you win some and you lose some I guess doh.

You should do some research and some reading.
And relax a little before you Fire up and disrupt a Community in peace.
I have the same thing going on now... same programs installed as you.
Is it still working after a hard reset? Did you re-install all the same programs?
Well, I'm on a Telus Diamond, and had the no answer problem, and solved it with a hard reset.. just try it, it doesn't take too much to get everything back to the way you had everything..
Okay so my optical joystick is going haywire.
I'm assuming there is some dirt stuck in there that is making it go crazy.
Every time I press the start button to wake it up it performs a bunch of weird actions,
like going directly to the call log, and Ive managed to call a bunch of friends by mistake..
Really annoying.
Now I've tried different roms and so on so I know it's a hardware problem,
I guess I might be able to fix it if i crack it open and clean it,
but I'm not too confident doing that.
So instead I've tried to disable the damned pad, since I never use it.
But it won't work.. The setting is turned off...
(As seen in the attachment)
...But it's STILL "working".
(And yes I've rebooted it since applying those settings)
Is there a way to shut this thing down in the registry?
I'm loosing my mind here. T_T
Edit: I'm on Winmo 6.1 btw.
yes there is, mine isn't working too good either, so I turned it off, but when accessing the Media Experience Panel it automatically turns back on.
I searched through the registry and found something out:
Search for everything OJ (short for Optical Joystick). You'll find
hklm\\software\drivers\oj\
Somewhere in there it can be turned off although I don't exactly know any more how I have done it. The only thing I know is that I have searched for OJ in the registry and with that I got my answer. I believe I removed a key. Check it out and before actually changing something don't forget to make a backup of the registry.
I hope you'll get it done.
Thanks man, but it didn't work.
I even went as far as deleting the whole OJ folder along with it's sub folders.
No change whatsoever. T_T
Can it be so damned hard to shut this bastard off?
It's seriously making my phone unusable,
and of course the warranty expired less than a month ago.
Im not completely sure if this has the option to turn it off, but give it a try anyways, its got alot of neat things in it.

Ill search for the advanced version im thinking about.
Sigh, couldn't find a fix for it, so I just took it apart and unplugged the button. And the phone is still alive, yay.
Anyhow, thanks for your help guys!
