New HTC BT hotfix from HTC e-club - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Just stumbled upon this on HTC e-club:
5/8/2008 Hot fix for system hang resulting from Bluetooth usage when memory is low.
Using Bluetooth when your device is low on available memory (below 10 MB), such as while running several programs at the same time, may cause your device to hang. Please download this hot fix to resolve and prevent this problem.

Is this the promised update for our TyTN II ?
LOL anyway, some of you may be interested...
Modz please burry this topic if already posted and shame on me for the next 7 generations.

Seen this yeasterday nite. Havn't installed yet.

SOmeone update us after you've installed the program

Well as for me, I never reached this 10 Mb limit so it may be difficult to see any changes.
Yes my device sometimes hangs, but as I have flashed it more than I can remember, i can't blame any BT problem...

Remember guys, patch must be installed only if you have problem with bluetooth .So I have no patch installed delivered by HTC on my kaiser ( 2 bluetooth and camera fix ) because i don't need them ...

Um.. you do know they're just saying that to cover their backs, and minimise the risk of this patch making anything worse for anyone, right? We're all running the same phones with similar ROMs etc (or as far as HTC are concerned, the HTC ROM)... if one of us has a bug, we all have the bug, and we all need the patch. The only question is whether we've noticed the bug yet, not whether or we have it.
Of course this is just another of those bizarre HTC patches for problems that nobody has ever heard of before... the third "fix" for issues nobody's bothered with, while all the time we still can't use device passwords without our screens freezing after calls, and we still have rubbish graphics performance, etc etc. But gee, at least that bluetooth problem we never heard of is cleared up. And that very least thing wrong with the camera has been fixed... and that other bluetooth bug nobody ever experienced, that's been sorted too.. phew!

yes, maybe some kaiser need these patch to work correctly, other work correctly without patch .On mine,no patch installed with htc french rom,but maybe other rom need this patch ...

So you're 100% certain that the picture quality of your camera (in certain, unspecified lighting conditions) is already exactly the same as that of a patched rom, right? Right...

just wondering if some of you that upgraded from a trinity to a Kaiser are happy with it.. Was thinking about getting one.. have been trying an iphone, but the lack of good pda features is killing me..
so i've been looking at getting a kaiser, but without a lot of nice cooked roms out yet and stuff, i was just wondering what you guys thought about it.

I will take the Kaiser anytime over the trinity, save the bug of the bulk updates on the GPS system.
Just using the stock ROM and add on the softwares that I need, and its great.
The response is faster than the trinity.
The GPS system is definitely a lot faster. Can get fix almost immediate.
Not sure about the peeling off issue will happen to Kaiser. Just got mine for few days.

Hello my friend, I have changed to HTC Tytn II, and man what a big change, loving the new one and not even missing the trinity a bit, the Kaiser is for sure a keeper, its a show piece, high quality material finish, no peeling issues, keyboard with a lovely tilt, GPS is outstanding; by the time you start the nav app your gps is fixed , and not forgetting the big space in both ram and rom, I do recommend the Kaiser to everybody, and would always look forward to see a Kasierguides.info by racerx_
Yep - I was a Trinity owner and for me , I got really frustrated at not having a proper keyboard - solved with the Kaiser!!!
Plus it has a lot more memory available, especially with a cooked ROM..
Cheers
John
I also upgraded my Trinity to Kaiser, and I fully agree with taiseer999.
He forgot to mention the Trinity MiniSD issue with disappearing files and stuff. the Kaiser dont have this issue at all.
The down side for me in compare to the Trinity is the size and the weight, and also the BT Headset sound. but other than that, all perfect for me.
helllo....
i'm using trinity before i get brand new htc tytn II.For me,htc tytn II is better than trinity in all department.Because of that i sold my trinity.
For Iphone i had too for a week, but i cant compare those two devices because there build for different purpose and differrent os,but the two of devices is good.....
cheers
Kaiser feel very solid when compared to trinity. But the weight difference is quite big. But love every moment with it. GPS connection is definitely faster. Haven't tried cook rom yet since the ROM/RAM size is double of trinity.
Keyboard is good but with new software keyboard like touchpal. Hardware keyboard is no longer a necessity.
thanks everybody for the feedback.. very helpful. Sounds like no one's looking back...

the GPS stream does not come in smoothly like the trinity, but instead, it comes in bursts every 8 seconds or so.
The updates on voice navigation is therefore somewhat delayed at times.
Sometimes, it can tell me to exit at the intersection ahead, where I have already passed it.
This is with the bundled R12 Mapking (for asia), and Mapking 2007 (retail).

There is a software update for R12:

For MapKing 2007, you can use GPSproxy + Mapking to improve the refresh rate.

well, HTC Asia has confirmed that its a bug, so they should solve the problem, although there are workarounds.
Until that happens, its still a bug in their ROM.

you see, using the R12 that comes with Kaiser in the Trinity, there is absolutely no problems at all.
Using the same version of MK2007 on Trinity, there is no problems at all as well.
From what I can comprehend, its the GPS multiplexing software that is causing the problem in the Kaiser.
The R12 fix you are talking about most probably reroutes the signal by bypassing the multiplexer, directly to the GPS COM port.
This way, if you have 2 GPS softwares running at the same time, the 2nd software cannot work. e.g. R12, and GPS photo.
But anyway, since HTC has acknowledged that its a bug, I guess its good to let all know.
sorry this is still confusing me. Is there a problem with gps bursts or not? I thought you said there was, now saying there's not??

the GPS signal/stream comes in bursts every 7-8 seconds, unlike in trinity, where its updated frequently.
Since you are using MK2007, you should see that the GPS stream is updated smoothly in it.
what this cause is that your location is updated whenever the burst comes in.
So if you are driving, and it tell yous to "exit at the intersection ahead", you may have already passed it.
I used the EXACT same copy of MK2007 on both trinity and Kaiser.
Trinity ok, Kaiser NG (bursts)
Using the EXACT same copy of MKR12 from Kaiser on trinity, its ok, but when you install it on Kaiser, you get the bursts... and you need to use the updated version on the Kaiser to workaround this issue.
Matrix:
------------MK2007-------MKR12------
Kaiser -------NG------------NG-------|
Trinity-------OK------------OK-------|
So to me, its a problem, and HTC acknowledged that its a bug.

WM6.1 f*cked up my GPS

Hi,
I've updated my kaiser with the original wm6.1 update from htc.
Since then it takes forever to get a fix. Once i have one the signal is as strong as before.
It takes over 10 min to get a fix if i even get one at all...
I use TomTom v6 (032.8351) as navigator using the build-in receiver option.
QuickGPS is always up-to-date so that's not the problem.
Is there a way to test the gps hardware and/or settings?

Same here, does the GPS really use the QuickGPS update? It seems it uses really old definitions or something. Does a custom baked ROM, like a Dutty rom, fix this prob?
Has either one of you disabled AGPS (Assissted GPS)?

gpstest is a freeware, u can get it in P1Taters "storage", he has got it in his signature(its in cabs/a must for me).
Or try to google it.
AGPS is quite different, it's disabled by default in most ROMs including the new 6.1 update, no surprise there.
QuickGPS is separate and should be working, and indeed appears to be working just fine, but for whatever reason the data is collects just isn't being used by the GPS in 6.1 ROMs. This has been discussed here at length (search for "hopeless GPS") and there's no solution in sight. Some claim not to have the problem, for others it's all too obvious. We can all get quick fixes from time to time, but the consistent reliability from the old 6.0 ROMs is completely gone in 6.1.
Every registry tweak, "GPS test" and radio change suggested here has proven to be a placebo so far - I'm just waiting (forever, probably) for a patch from HTC.
The same problem is also mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397728 I hope that someone will find a solution...
Sorry guys, but after sofreset I get first fix after 1-2 minutes and after that when I launch iGO I get a fix after some seconds(10-20).

For you maybe. Mine seems to work flawless. Every time I try, it works.
BTW, AGPS is not always disabled. Yes it is different but it might be interfering with the GPS software. It did in one of Dutty's roms i beta tested for him.

Congratulations?
I can sometimes get first fix after 1-2 minutes, the problem is that other times (seemingly at random) it can be 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. Without properly functioning QuickGPS, it's basically luck of the draw.
Once you've had a lock, the data is retained for some hours (unless you reset) so subsequent fixes will usually be fairly instanteneous, even for me. None of this really helps.
Like I said before, some people claim not to have the problem, some of them may even be right, but unfortunately for others the problem definitely exists, and nobody's put their finger on the cause.

Keyword is "placebo". Running a different GPS app before the actual GPS app you want to use doesn't actually speed anything up, it just makes it seem like you're "doing something". All software like GPS Test does is open a port to your GPS and try to get a fix - do you think TomTom doesn't do that already?

So, those that don't have the issue are liars? Good luck figuring it out. I don't feel like having this argument on whether or not mine is working. Childish in my opinion, so I'll just move on. I believe it's quite ignorant to insult those that have tried to help whether by posting cabs or possible advice
@ everyone else, I posted some links to some cabs that might help or might not. I hope they do help those that indeed need it and not those that just want to complain. Good luck.

Yes of course, they're damned dirty liars, all of them.
Or they've misunderstood the problem.
Or they've just tried their GPS for the first time in weeks and gotten a reasonably quick fix, just like any of us (myself included) could have done on any random occasion (consistency is the key in this).
Or they're running a completely different ROM/Radio and haven't really been paying attention (that wouldn't be you would it?)
Point is, I'd strongly encourage anyone genuinely experiencing this problem not to bother even reading this thread, just get onto HTC for a fix. All the potions and pills being suggested here are a waste of time; they've all been tried, and they don't work.

Bully for you. I believe it's quite ignorant (not to mention bloody irritating) to come onto a thread about a problem you've obviously not experienced, and try to suggest that problem doesn't exist, or that we won't have already tried all the most blindingly obvious fixes for it. But ce la vie.

Yup, that's me. I ignored all issues reported and used a different rom/radio combination to try and fix the issue. Oops. BTW, I never once stated the problem did not exist, as I know it does for some. You stated those that say they are not experiencing the problem are mistaken.
All I can say is that my combination is working for me. I use GPS at least 3 times a week and I always get a fix in under 20 sec. Dutty's June 8 rom and radio 1.58.25.17. Yes, this rom does have issues, but the issue's that it does have do not pertain to me as I dont use the apps that the issues involve.
OMG, this thread is going in the other direction that was supposed.
U try to help him and u get a slap in the face instead of simple THANK YOU.
Nice attitude man.
I know, jeez, isn't it? Crikey. Just goes to show. Who'd have thought it.
Anyway, if you've updated your HTC Tytn II to the new WM 6.1 update, and have been experiencing erratic GPS performance ever since, please do contact HTC Support at their website (www.htc.com) and register a bug report there. That's the only way we're all going to get a fix. Thanks!

You get a fix in less than 20 seconds after a cold start of Gps? This is exactly the problem i'm dealing with WM6.1 roms. I can't get a fix in less than 2 minutes (cold start) and i have tried many 6.1 roms and many radios. In WM6 roms i get a fix in less than 20 seconds. Can you please tell me which rom do you have installed in your Kaiser? Thank you
Edit: Please give me a link for this rom you are using. Thank you
Thanks for the tips.
I'll try the tools, see if that dous anything good, otherwise i'll send a verry irritated e-mail to htc.
Btw, has anyone tried other navigation software like iGo, MioMap or Destinator?
Same problems?
And if there is no way to fix it for now, is it possible to downgrade to the original WM6?
A hard reset won't bring it back to WM6 i gues?

Diamond sound problem SOLVED!!

Hi all!
This seems to be an issue shared among a big group of diamond owners. But unfortunately no solution out there. So as a last attempt, I create this thread in hope of a solution.
The problem:
Its seems that for no reason at all, the sound all together stops working on the Diamond after it has been in standby mode for a while. if I get a call, I can not hear the other person, and if I call back the same thing. No ring signal sounds either when I get a call, just flashing button. I noticed however that if I started to play a music file, after 5 seconds into the playing the sound would come back again.
Is there a solution to this problem? I have found other posts about this problem but no solution!

One thing i noticed is after the sound is back again the phone lost his signal (like when you turn off and then on again the phone setting)

Also did I - without success.
I don't even have a clue what causes the failure. Sometimes my Diamond works the whole day, somtimes only a couple of minutes.
Tried a lot of combinations with the settings - means: BT on/off, WiFi on/off, and so on - nothings helped
My warranty is likelihood lapsed, cause of playing with HardSPL and different ROMs. So replacing the mobile isn't possible any more (I guess).
My Diamond worked in the beginning perfectly, until ... hmmm good question, it must have been an update or somthing like that, which causes the malfunction.
@mjckt: Did you have the problem from the first day on?
Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro - CE OS 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)

Hi,
my diamond had the same problem. You must send your diamond to repair. My device had a hardware failure and your, too.

I tried to update the radio to several different versions, but the problem is still there. I can not use my warranty either because the phone has been unlocked etc. But I still doubt that the problem is hardware related, since the phone worked just fine for a short while before the problems came.

Can anyone confirm this?

Do you have g-alarm program?

Hahaha. Polish HTC can't release the polish ROM version (in fact - WWE ROM with 3rd party localization, and they say bull**** about being tested in microsoft), so they are offering the sound hotfix instead.
edit: oh no, the update is worldwide! So congrats to HTC Poland for pasting the link into their website.
These fixes are not only on PL HTC pages, and I think there are not related with HTC Poland.
I hope some peeps here can make the audio fix work for all ROM's as it won't install on mine
doesn't install on mine either.....
Help
Downloaded the audio fix and when it went to restart, it got to the "Touch Diamond" screen and froze up. Tried three soft resets, did not work, even broke down and tried a hard reset still froze on that screen, tried hooking up to the computer and turning on the phone, same thing.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Fyi the touch diamond screen comes up then I see the gyrator info on the bottom of the screen then nothing, just stays there, going on a half hour now.
Says it's not compatible with my Diamond when I try to install to my official HTC 2.03 (swedish) rom... On the other hand I've never experienced the audio lag issue so maybe that explains it
guess its more a sloppy action from HTC, since the other hotfox works without a flaw.
Espeical since a user already made a cab that works with every rom.

And when a fix for the GPS?
i m using nataly 2.2 ROM, cannot install that fix a well.
By reading the xml, seem like it install a OEM_Misc.dll ...dont know what that is. ....
Install the cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505928&highlight=hotfix the one on post 10 (HTC Audio Hotfix.cab)
Has done the job for me.

Diamond GPS Hotfix from HTC

HTC has released a hotfix for resolving difficulties finding or locating a position when using GPS for HTC Touch Diamond...
You can reach the hotfix from following link:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=133&cat=0&dl_id=569
I hope this hotfix solves the diamond gps lag.
Did someone tried?

Tried to installed but hotfix says it is not compatible with my device. May have to wait for the diamond ver or if someone here can change the package to work with any device ID
I ran this on my sprint diamond and sprintnav still works, except I found another problem unrelated, sort of.
Hi,
just copied the file to my device (XDA Diamond - Stock Rom) and it works without problems. I think it wont work with custom roms.
I just noticed that the i get a fix very fast. Other than that, i didnt tested if the lag is gone, but why it should be. The fix is only for getting a faster GPS Fix. It isnt a fix for a lag problem.

If anyone with a stock rom can install test and report back, i think we would all be interested. BTW it says on the HTC site that it fixes the 'lag' (if it does woohoo)
I installed the fix on BsB 6.5G Black ROM (no need for original ROM). I can't really say that it helped reducing my satellite fix time. Before installing I had sat fix in about 1 min (cold start) and now it took like 1.5 min. But it seems like more stable (doesn't loose fix like it did sometimes before). On the other hand, warm start is lightning fast, taking about 5 seconds to get a fix.
Didn't test it yet for GPS lag. I will report back in the afternoon!

weird or weird ?
Bad news. The lag of the gps stills on. But the sat fix time is better.
By the way, I have an official 2.03.410.2 ptg rom.
It´s funny that in my old official 1.37... rom the gps worked fine without delays. But now it has 30 mt of delay.
I´ve tried all the com ports in the hardware and the better is 9.
Yes would be fine if we had a cab ..... im still unable to install the fix

Hi Pinttas,
I have a lag on my GPS. I haven't tested different ports. Does it make much difference? Do you know why it might?

WinRar is able to extract content from the Exe, it has a cab layout in fact. From what I can see, it installs "CleanGpsData.exe" with a link to it in \windows\startup (the link didn't seem to be installed on mine by the way).
The cab has a setup.dll, I can't be sure it doesn't adjust any registry settings or else, but it doesn't seem to.
Hi mitsi,
the ports are the whay the software comunicate with the hardware.
I have a big difference between ports, +-30mts.
In the com ports nr 3 and 7 I cant get sat. the 2 is the worst and 9 the better.
I don´t now if is the same for all. I think it depends on the rom you have.

Hi Pinttas,
Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out on mine.... I hope I can find a better port!
I still have the same lag, i still can't use my paired BT Nokia headset and the GPS at the same time (witch i could in the nokia n73). it's a little bit faster the fix, but not as much.
I tried this and have found the fix to be faster, as others have reported. Funnily enough, my Tomtom has no lag but my Igo8 does..... Weird.....
pinntas - you are right about the ports. On some I don't get any connection at all. The others don't seem to be much different though. I think Ports 4 and 9 seem to be the most stable on mine.
