Cant install HardSPL - advice on what im doing wrong please - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi, hopefully this is me being stupid/uninformed rather than some new weirdness but im trying to install HardSPL to allow me to put in a 6.1 rom, but not having any luck. Ive read the guides and as far as I can see am following them but I stay stuck on the tri-colour/usb screen on the device and "Please make sure ActiveSync is enabled (GREEN icon in systray) and hit ENTER to start..." screen on the PC and dont seem to get any further than that.
The steps ive been following are detailed below, I have a new generic UK HTC device running WM6.0. Any help is appreciated. Many Thanks.
So this is what im doing...
Boot phone after removing battery, sim & memory card
R 1.27.12.32
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.56.00.00
connect PDA
Shows connected in taskbar, icon green
run either JumpSPL1.56KAIS.exe or JumpSPL1.93KAIS.exe on PDA from 'my device\SPL' folder
Hit 'yes' & 'continue', get the tri colour screen, with USB at bottom
after about 20 secs usb disconnects and taskbar icon goes grey
unplug, ding dong
wait 10 secs, dong ding
I have a mobile device in explorer but with no folders under it.
Open active sync (grey still) settings, after aprox 1 minute settings dialog appears and uncheck 'allow USB connections'
run 'kaiser-HardSPL.exe' on the PC
get the blurb, 'Please make sure ActiveSync is enabled (GREEN icon in systray)
and hit ENTER to start...'
Hit enter
a pput.exe icon appears on desktop (where im running it from)
But nothing else happens from here??? I end up unplugging, removing battery and rebooting PDA to the original 6.0 settings.
Whats going wrong?

**This is NOT a flame, just a free lesson**
You are making some mistakes...
First, you didn't post in the HardSPL thread. A new thread should not have been created.
Second, depending on which version of HardSPL you are trying to install (I'm assuming HardSPL v1.1), you are not following the correct steps.
Based on the steps you are following, you appear to have read several different HardSPL threads, and you are combining instructions from them plus the SIM Unlock thread.
At the top of the Kaiser General section, you will see a thread named "**BEFORE YOU POST START HERE** FAQ, Wiki, Stickies & Tutorials - Suggestions Welcome!". The answer you seek is in there.
Good luck.

BlueAngel BootLoader

Hello Everyone,
My BA is stuck at the Splash Screen, I suspect that the Bootloader is corrupt. Does anyone know how to flash it?
try this for whoever get stuck at boot screen or in bootloader mode
1. Download mtty v1.42 from http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/mtty1.42.rar
2. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. put your device into Bootloader Mode by pressing Power + Record Button and Soft Reset.
4. Run mtty (from downloaded) Choose WCEUSBSH001
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. type "task 28" to get your device formatted
7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
8. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.
good luck.

imatrix's suggestion.
@imatrix
Followed the steps before, and followed them again.. I'm still stuck.
Something interesting happened though:
There are two horizontal stripes across the splashscreen now.
I already tried to flash the OS, It doesn't work with the standard imate flash executable (It used to work before) and now I'm getting a 'MODEL ID ERROR' when I try to flash it using the BAupgrade... executable.
I tried with the MAupgradenoid tool, it flashes but I still get stuck on the splashscreen...
Thanks,
Wadih
BlueAngel Bootloader
Anyone has a way to either dump a bootloader file for the BA (Providing the file of course) or alternatively directives to copy it from another device (From the same make, i.e. Imate PDA2K) ?
Many thanks,
Wadih.

I did, but as I specifed in me earlier post, eventhough the MAUpgradenoID flashes the files, I still get stuck at the splashscreen.
Interesting point: After flashing witht the MAUpgradenoID, I try reflashing back with the BAupgradeid.. I get the Model Error ID error back..
Something in the BA is wrong, and I believe it may be in the Bootloader. So, is there a way to replace the bootloader itself?
EDIT: By the way, I can't seem to be able to place a WM5 rom instead of the WM2003, although the flashing procedure starts, it quickly ends (i.e. without the percentage bar appearing) and says that the flashing worked successfully... But nothing gets actually flashed.
Many thanks for the help imatrix.
Regards,
Wadih.

Please do NOT remake our ROM, because We were done a hard

So what´s in?
- OS 2.26.10.2 with aku 2.3 (we think that is still better then 3.2)

- Splash screen (Windows mobile loading...)
- ExtROM (many things unusuall things)
- IPL/SPL - not included
That ROM works only on CID-unlockded HTC Wizard
Base features:

shortcut in Start/programs/Install)

download Superrom v 1.1 by ppctuning.org
SupeRom
Thanks guys As i write this I'm downloading the Rom. I'll let you know how it works for me.
Thank you guys, I will try it this weekend and give a feedback.
thanks, it's great to see new rom cookers here as Ive always feel that every cook brings a little something to the table!
Installed with no problems. Well slight problems with configuring the battery meter as it is in Czeck! - so some trial and error here but it works very well.
Everything works fine with T-mobile in the U.K.
Early days but could be the best ROM yet.
I have tried all the others and up to now have been using
Risidoro. This is similar but may just edge Risidoro into second place.
Very well done.
An english version of the battery meter Batti 2.1 can be found at:-
http://andrsd.blogspot.com/2006/08/batti-21.html
Makes it a lot easier for us english to configure!

No it does not.
After having some problems with Molski's, battery drain etc. I installed yours, up until now running smoothly.
Maybe worth considering the crossbow icons, because people are waiting for this for 3 weeks already. It seems very important.....

After the boot is completed or when it gives the startup screen?
edit: It seems that my wizard has given up..
When I turn it on it does all the 'checks', than it gives the Splash screen (Windows mobile loading...), and after that the screen sort of flashes.. It actually turns into stripes, than
it turns into grey -> black, and it boots up again.. It keeps doing this routine.. It looks to me it's sort of broke? When I plug it in via USB it doesn't make any difference...

Try this one i think u flash ur previous ROM which is still locked...it happens before with me.
1.In your PC (task manager) "end the task for wescomm.exe" you can find this in the processes window (this is related with activesync installed on your PC).
2.Get your phone in bootloader mode. Like this : hold the "voice dial" and shortly press the reset button by stylus, release the reset button and wait for the USB color screen
3.Now connect your USB cable to your phone. And start MTTY_updateROM.exe as attached . After open, on Port selection, choose \\.\WCEUSBSH001 and press OK. A window will open with a blank sheet.
4. Type "r2sd all" and hit enter... wait to the end (at end shows "cmd>"). On your phone screen u can follow backup progress... small bar will appear down the RGB screen.
5. To revived your device you have to downgrade it to 1.05 Rom ( ftp://xda:[email protected]_11210_WWE.exe )
6.Be sure that you have to unlock first your device before you will flash again with another ROM like V2.XX or more.

Great! It looks like it's working perfect..! Only the part with the updater isn't completely clear to me... I can get the USB color screen and hit the "r2sd all" in the blank sheet. It immediately gave the Cmd> and a white bar with USB in it below the screen on my wizard.. ?
(immediately after I entered my way through the "r2sd all" command) It doesn't give anything extra...
Any more thoughts
SuperROM 1.1 WWE
Hi all,
I flashed that molskis ROM and than Superrom 1.1 WWE by ppctuning.org and I must say:
The SuperROM is the best ROM for wizard, much better than molski, ridsoro, faria etc! There are also changes right in system, but much more.
This ROM is very fast and stable. The system is faster, without overclock (I disabled it), than in other ROMs overclocked to 240MHz! After HR it has 45 MB free ROM and 32 MB free RAM. There are preinstalled some usefull programs (only freeware) and you can optionally install much other programs from extended-rom.

Noobs Definite Guide to Himalaya Updating [XP/VISTA]

Hello All, many of you just keep asking how to do that and this, you do not use search, so im making this Guide which will help you
Things You Should Know:
Things Which Will not work after Upgrading to WM5, WM 6 or WM 6.1 :

STK will Not function
There is no SDHC Drivers for any Version of ROMS for HTC Himalaya Yet
To Have 30.53 MB of storage Go here
Upgrading:
Windows XP :
Requirements :
Windows XP
Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5
Minimum of 256 MB of RAM
and some patience
Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:
DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton
After a second release Reset Button, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.
Place your device in the cradle/USB Cable, ensuring that the cradle/USB
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle/USB.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.
Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".
Run HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and follow the instructions
Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC.
Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait' but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.
Detach your device from the cradle/USB.
Now you have to hardreset your device :
Press Reset Button and hold down Camera Button + Record Button.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use Record Button, change values with Camera Button)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES

thanks for the info, i havent tested it my self thats why i didnt knew, edited the First post with this info
Im a noob
Hi I am a noob and followed this guide but it did nothing...
Basically I have a 02 XDA II - it is locked and I want to upgrade it to windows 6/6.1 - I have been reading through the forum for a couple of hours now covering the wiki for himalays and other things.
I followed the steps on this - but nothing has been upgraded. So I guess this isn't how to upgrade to wm6?
So frustrating cos I can't seem to find the instructions on how to do it.
I believe its a rom i need right?> how do i put it on?
Should I unlock the xda first? (havent worked that out yet) or upgrade to wm6 and then it will be unlocked anyway?
Please please help I have been reading loads and trying to not ask obvious thigns.
i donot know if its SIM locked or not...try givinf xda2unlock a try
second, to upgrade you need a ROM, there are MANY roms in this Himalaya WM6 Forum...many of them have detailed instructions
it wont be any harm if you upgrade first...try giving it a shot and tell me
Ather
I have also performed 'Unlock Wiz/Himalaya' but all I get is 'The phone seems unlocked already' - but it is not unlocked - any advice with this also?
try to upgrade the rom simply, if u get stuck, we all are here
I am struggling through trying to work out how to unlock my sim and then flash WM6 onto my 02 XDA ii which therefore is a himalya - says PH10b in model no.
Anyway Im following one of the guides (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...0for newbies) and it says I have to establish whether it is a G3 or G4 or else Ill brick it and probably throw myself out of my window.
So I performed a soft reset and got the following information in red letters when I do it.
R 1.10.00
G 1337. 18
1.60.00WWE
I just don't know if it is a G3 or G4 and can't afford to brick this phone - so please could someone help me so I know which intructions to follow?
I will send best reply a stick of rock from Blackpool (famous for rock - its like sugary concerete).
Sorry to be unclear - it is sim locked - it has horrible 02 logos all over it.
Bastards.
Anyway it is sim locked and wm 2003 i think.
Im not clear about how to install a rom - i did update the drivers putting it in boot and then updating driver from what i downloaded - which I think was to resolve and issue with vista/xp as i am using vista.
Right now im trying to work out G3/G4 because i found what seemed to be a good instrucitonal post
lol, the xda2 doesent has g3 or G4 ... so flash away
So how do i unlock it and then install WM6?
Is there a step by step guide?
It is sim locked and i want to unlock it and install wm6
the Branding has nothing to do with the Simlock, my Himalaya is from O2 too, and all it had was Branding, no simlock.
I'm currently using E-Plus as my Provider, and i did not have to circumvent any simlock before flashing WM6.1 onto the Device.
Also, if it DID have a Simlock, it has probably worn off by now, since the Device is already older than 2 years...
I have managed to unlock the sim now thanks to the wonderful people here but still have no clue how to install wm6?
congrats , just download any ROM and enjoy flashing it
do i just download a wm6 file and put it onto my pda and then execute it? double click it? is it that simple?
Can u spefically tell me how to implement a rom?
i assume i download it but then what?
I am thinking I'll just brick it - then spend months on here asking for help... Id rather just ask beforehand and find out how to do it.
it's exactly like ather said, you downloaded the ROM, now you can flash it to your XDA.
Just do it like it says in the Readme and you should have no Problems whatsoever
Strange
I had an old Qtek 2020 and flashed it successfully to WM6.1 No problems exept...... the phne does not conect to the correct provider. The SIM is for the Belgian BASE provider whereas it connects always to ORANGE. When I put the SIM in my new Diamond or in my very old Nokia phne it connects to BASE as intended. I reflashed to the original Qtek WM 2003 SE and same thing. Reflashed again to WM6.1 ans still it only wants to connect to ORANGE ??? What am I overlooking?
BTW if I donload the list of providers there isno BASE provider. If I download the list on my Diamond it appears whithout any problem.
it could be because of the Network Manager has old settings, try setting it up manually

inreally need the damn thing. it's like losing my right hand
it came with winmobile 2003 ce
maybe i need a more resent version.
I am not an expert by any means but the fact that it switches to USB when cradled means it should be reflashable with a new ROM, search the o2.ie site for their most recent ROM. Not saying their offering is the most recent but it should get you going again
i searched but i can't find anything.
i don't know were i can find it
and if i do how does it work?
my telephone is using Orange / T mobile
Ok I had the same problem recently and managed to fix it using mtty.exe, and a working flash file.
The procedure goes like this:
Get mtty.exe, ( I found a copy on a file sharing site using google ).
Open Activesync and disable the USB option in connection settings, you'll need the usb port for mtty.
Put the device in the cradle, and check that it says USB , (it may say serial 1.01 at this point, don't worry, this happened on mine).
Run mtty.exe, and select USB, this will open a terminal window allowing you to communicate with the device. If you don't see USB as an option then exit mtty and try plugging the USB cable into another port.
Once you have the terminal window open, type task 28 and press enter, this will format the DiskOnChip.
Once this is complete and there are no errors, exit mtty, and run the upgrade, this should hopeully restore your Alpine.

Windows 7 & HTC Drivers Issue

Hi
I have tried the dummies guide concerning updating the HTC USB drivers but had a couple of issues:
1. If I press F8 during the boot process I get an abreviated version of the bois setup which has no selection for turning off digital signing of drivers. I have an ASUS motherboard so to enter the bois I press the DEL key. Whilst in the bios I can see no option for turning off the digital signing. The instructions in the thread simply don't work.
I have done some searching and found web pages that explain how to enter the command window, paste 2 or 3 lines of text to turn off digital signing and put W7 64 bit into a sort of test mode. I have done that and have "Test Mode Windows 7600" in the bottom right corner of my Desktop. I still can't install the HTC USB driver as it brings up an error due to being not signed.
Without installing the new driver I cant change my ROM. There must be others in the same boat having changed to Windows 7. Please help.
Ok a few things:
I'm on windows 7 x64 build 7600, I'm having NO problems, just connect your device in windows let it connect with active sync
Then de-connect your blacktsone, shut it down, and hold volume down button then press start up, it will now start in bootloader mode
Now re-connect and wait for it to get installed by your pc!
If you really DO need htc drivers
Go into your bios
Turn of any quick booting AND turn off full logog display
When windows is starting AFTER the bootscreen you'll get a screen with some sort of TABLE in it with all your hardware and all they're IRQ's
at THIS moment when you see this table press f8
Then you get a boot menu
and you can follow your guide with turning off the signed drivers etcetera!
Great Greet Giblet
wow dude, treat me like the idiot I am. Step by step please.
"Then de-connect your blacktsone" - i guess you mean take out the USB cable?
I wait for it to get re-installed but nothing happens whilst in bootloader and the word serial stays at the bottom of the screen
OMG
Oh my god, I am really frustrated becuase I managed to get it to work with your help but I don't know how. I must have tried everything 10 times without luck then all of a sudden it worked.
If only I knew what I was doing wrong I could pass it along to the next poor sap.
Thanks for your help.

Some options to get a new ROM on your device:
Alternative Option: Run ROM from storage card (this requires HSPL on your device)
- Connect your phone to your pc with the usb cable
- Choose Disk Drive option on your phone when presented with the choice.
- Extract the downloaded rar and if not called BLACIMG.nbh rename the romfile to that (ruusigned.nbh is commonly used so rename when so)
- Copy the BLACIMG.nbh to your phone's storage card via Windows Explorer where it should show up as an removable harddrive.
- Disconnect your phone from the pc once copy has finished.
- Shut down your phone.
- Press Volume Down (left top of phone) and keep it pressed while pressing the Start button (on top of phone) once.
- The bootloader (red, green, blue, white screen) will now start, it will detect the new rom file and ask you if you want to update your current one.
- Confirm and follow instructions on screen
Done.
As for your unsigned drivers i can offer some tips:
- Press F8 after you have seen all your hard drives recognized in the bios bootup screen but before you see the Windows Logo.
- F8 might be set as a bootselector menu by your motherboard manufacturer, if this gets in the way of trying the get to the F8 options from Windows you can disable it in your BIOS (to enter press del)
- If you have Windows 7 Ultimate you are entitled to XP-Mode which is basically a built in virtual machine of Windows XP within Windows 7, some people have been succesfull connection their phone to that XP installation and were able to update via it.
Hope this helps. together with the previous poster's comment you should come a long way, good luck.
