I have this ATT Tilt. And I have moved to Cyprus this summer but i can not get the 3G work on this other network. The GPRS works but it works so slow. I can connect to 3G network with the new sim card here in Cyprus but it does not work as 3G but like normal GPRS speed.
Is there something done on HTC Kaiser when sold in US for ATT which I need to revert back to factory settings so I can utilize 3G here as well. I mean it works perfectly when I go back to US every month.

Hello all:
I've recently upgraded from the "leaked" ATT WM6 ROM to a ROM built from the Aussie 3 WM6 ROM with the "leaked" ATT WM6 Extended ROM.
With this combination 2G data works great, however, I have found that 3G data doesn't work at all for me.
It looks like it is connected, and will even try to switch to HSDPA mode when attempting to access data but I can't move any data up or down.
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to check?
Thanks.
edit - 3G voice does work properly, so it isn't like I'm being denied access to the 3G network
I also switched from the Leaked ATT ROM to the Australia3 ROM, however I am not using any of the ATT Extended ROM stuff.
My 3G has worked fine
MS
???
I am having the same problem with my 3g data. my phone seems to connect but it will not open any sites. When I am on edge it works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?
I have the same problem. My location is the NYC Metro area.

same issue.....in the metro area as well......i went back to the leaked ATT rom since then.....hangs every once in a while but its still better than having WinMo5 in my opinion....
changed to vodafone
I had the same problem on a business trip to NYC. The Aussie 3G rom lost internet. I switched to the vodafone and haven't had a problem in NYC or back in SF where I live.
Well I went back to the Voda version and everything works fine. Does any one have an idea why the Aussie rom 3G will not work in NYC?
I went to the Voda ROM too and now everything is working perfectly...
Any one else here using the HTC Diamond on Rogers network here in Canada?
I just purchased my Diamond a few days ago to replace my HTC 3600P. My 3600P connected to Rogers 3G network perfectly fine and I was able to get broadband speeds.
Now, with the Diamond I can only get GPRS (G icon on the phone) and Edge (E icon on the phone).
I am not sure if this had anything to do with it, but unlike the 3600P, when first setting up the Diamond it ask if I wanted the phone to auto detect the network and auto configure the phone. I selected yes.
In the phone settings under network tab, the network selection is set to Automatic. Under the Band tab, both select your network type and select your GSM/UMTS band is set to auto.
is my phone setup correctly, or is it that the Diamond doesn't work with Rogers 3G network only GPRS/EDGE? If this is the case now, could a ROM update fix this?
I really need broadband speeds on my work and am seriously considering returning the phone, as I specially asked the store I purchased it from here in Toronto if it would work on Rogers 3G network like my HTC 3600P and they said yes.
Current Diamond models (EU and Asia) do NOT support North American 3G bands. There was some talk from Rogers that the 900MHz band would be support but for now GPRS is as fast as you will get with your Diamond.
Just to add confirmation to what NikoL has said.
No 3G with the Diamond on Rogers.
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!
My question now is will my ASIAN/UK diamond ever work on Roger's 3G network? If yes, any idea how long this will take?
I really need broadband speed on my mobile phone for work. I still have my HTC 3600P which works fine on the Rogers 3G.
I am trying to justify keeping the phone or returning it.
Worth holding on to?

To be honest buddy, it all depends on Rogers if they support that band that your missing. If they arent going to enable it on their network then you will never get 3G on the Diamond that you have now. So its a 50-50 chance they may or may not...probably better off asking them if you ring them. Im sure they will tell you if they have any intentions of enabling that band on their network.
Now if it was me, id return it and wait for the North American version which should be released next month hopefully. But this is me personally...im in the UK and i couldnt live without 3G myself...blazing fast on my nokia n95 8gb which i sold and at the moment im having to make do with GPRS because my nokia 8600 luna only does GPRS.

What are you doing that requires 3g?
Edge and GPRS don't imped stuff like email sync, syncml, or minor web browsing.
If you need to use remote access like RPD or UVNC then sell the phone. Roger's isn't about to turn on 900mhz as that requires changing the match on existing infrastructure. It makes far more sense for them to push toward LTE tech rather then waste it on whats going out.

I work in the streaming media industry, hence I definately require broadband on my mobile phone/device.
For now, I guess I will keep using my HTC P3600 which works perfectly fine on Rogers 3G and hope that the north amercian version of the Diamond will support Rogers 3G or on the tail end, that a ROM update for the Asian verision will 'turn on' the required freq to support Roger's 3G.

I would imagine the N American version of the Diamond would support 3G in Canada...as for a rom update to enable the asian version that you have now to use 3G??..i doubt it very much as its a hardware issue. The diamond you have is missing that 3G attenna.

You are correct about the ROM update. I called HTC Canada and confirmed this with their support department. I guess, I'll be putting my Diamond up for sale on ebay (as my local dealer refuses to take back the phone - last time I'll ever purchase from them, as I specifically asked about it working on Rogerrs prior to purchase) and wait for the North Amercian verision.. or see how the new 3G iphone stands up when it is released here on July 11th.
Does anyone know if the TYTN II works on the new T Mobile 3g network in New York City? Woule likr to hear from someone who is actually using this 3g network.

it wont work for 3g. att and t-mobile are on separate frequencies that the tilt wont pickup for tmobile's 3g network.
the tilt will only work in 2G.... EDGE and regular GPRS
My phone is not the Tilt it is an HTC branded TYTN II unlocked phone from HTC Hong Kong that I have on T Mobile

what do you mean the tilt will only pick up 2G..att's tilt is a 3g phone..i have one, but i am on t-mobiles service..i had to unlock the phone to do this first...and i can switch back and forth between 3G and tmobiles edge with the diamond commmanger app....ii just cant use att's 3g because i have a tmobile sim in my phone
Doesn't work.. I'm using TyTN II for NYC T-Mobile.. no 3G
It doesn't work because it uses different FREQUENCIES.
Look at it this way:
You want to call your friend, he has an htc touch. Let's call him, Lenny.
Then you change your mind, and you want to call your other friend, who also has an htc touch. Her name is Michelle.
If you dial Lenny's phone number, you won't get Michelle just because she has the same phone.
ATT 3g and T-mobile 3g are the same TYPE of network, but they use different frequencies. Just like Lenny and Michelle have the same phone, but different phone numbers.
Make sense now?
The TYTN II and it's Variants were not designed to operate on the frequency that T-mobile 3g operates on.

lets break this down a bit better for him so that he may undertand your post.
"it wont work for 3g. "(That is a period for a very short sentence, and he meams )
It won't work on tmobile 3g.
"att and t-mobile are on separate frequencies that the tilt wont pickup for tmobile's 3g network."
This one is more straight forward now that you have a better version of the first sentence.
It should go something like this
It won't work on the Tmobile 3g because att and and tmobiles frequencies for 3g are totally different from each other and the tilt doesn't support the tmobile one (as you know it supports the att one), BUT it does support edge and gprs..
Can the radio in the TYTN be changed to the new T Mobile frequency.whats there now is 1900/2100 and needs to be 1700/2100.

Hi,
How can I check if my diamond is connected to 3G? My O2 Ignito always displays the 'G' icon in the top corner. I am yet to see it display '3G', but I know this icon exists.
When I click it the 'connectivity' pop-up comes up and says:
mobile web (GPRS, 3G)
I am in a 3G area, I have checked on here:
http://www.webmap.o2.co.uk/map.asp
But to me it doesn't seem like 3G speeds.
Thanks
When you are connected to 3G doesn't the thing next to the signal icon change to say 3g?
I'm in the same boat with my O2 handset, I'm in an area that's allegedly covered by O2's 3G coverage but the only thing I've ever seen is G or E (for EDGE); I've never seen the 3G icon.
I realised yesterday though that my SIM card might not be 3G compliant as it's the same SIM card I'm still using from my very first O2 contract phone from back in 2005 so I'm going to ask in an O2 shop this weekend whether that could be the problem.
I have had much discussion with O2 concerning 3G reception. I live in a 3G area and yet do not receive it on my Ignito. If i take my sim out and put it in a Nokia I get 3G. O2 replaced the handset - same issue. It seems HTC devices do not have a good 3G reciever in them. It diplays H when you have 3G - O2 quote "H is superior to 3G and provides the fastest data transfer". I've been asked by O2 to monitor my 3G reception and give feedback to them, so that they can give feedback to HTC! If I continue to not get 3G coverage they have offered to look at another handset for me!
The phone displays H when it has a 3G signal. H is the fastest data service in the UK and is faster than 3G - quoting O2 here.
I have also had problems with receiving 3G. If i put my sim in a Nokia handset it works fine, but not in my Ignito. They changed the handset - second one the same. It appears the receiver in the Diamond is not very good at receiving 3G. O2 have asked me to monitor how I get on and give them feedback, so they can get back to HTC!
I have looked into this with o2 Corporate as I have a works Ignito.
It appears that it was worth a phone call as the guy I spoke to seem to know his stuff and apparently sorted me out.
I have never had the 3G logo on my Ignito, so out of interest I rang o2 to question my speeds.
1. They told me my SIM is so old it is 2G, so they have sent me a new 3G card.
2. They state that my account has been set up wrong in that I have never been upgraded to the faster speeds, the Tech guy told me that when my phone is showing ‘H’ after a speed test it is actually running 3G!
3. They have now moved me from something called ‘virgin 5’ to ‘virgin 6’, as I have never been upgraded, which will mean that when available I will get 1.2 MB/s!
4. Apparently the Ingnito software has not got the 3G logo in it so will not show 3G only H. (or E for Edge or G for GPRS, if not on the higher speeds)
5. Because of the wrong SIM and not upgrading me automatically, Cheeky bastards!
Thanks for your help, I would of never known it would of been a SIM problem.
Do you now receive a constant 3G connection?
Do O2 correct this free of charge?
I would also be interested in other O2 Ignito customers find there 3G reception.
Hoew to get better signal
Hi Gets
If you need to get better 3g signal, why don't you just change the radio.
I had same kind of issue with the original radio. I updated 1.05.25.BS14 and I have brillint 3g signal all the time.
I went into the O2 store today, they gave me a new SIM straight away, no questions.
Now it runs great!
O2's 3G reception is diabolical at the best of times....from past experiences on their network...one of the major reasons why i went back to Tmobile...their 3g network is very good and fast. Never fail to get the H icon 95% of the time when using my phone.
Hello,
I recently replaced my Treo 650 with an unlocked Kaiser on ATT. I’ve had the phone for several months and everything was working great. While I was on a trip in an area I normally travel I noticed that I didn’t have service. I normally have full service in this area on the Treo so I switched the sim over to my friends Treo and made a call. The Treo showed that it was on ATT network not roaming. I switched it back and still no service. I also tried the find network button under phone settings. The phone showed no service for about 30 miles ( I figured about one tower coverage area ). On the way home it did the same thing in a separate area for about 60 miles. I switched the sim and made a call no problems. I didn’t think there was a PRL update for GSM phones but I can’t think of why else it would do this?
Thanks
A8
Try toggling 3G and Edge, edge has a lot bigger coverage area. I rarely use 3g because it drains my battery quicker. I download duttys 3g comm manager to do this easily
