activesync 4.1 problems

I have a siemens sx66 .When i had 2003 on my phone activesync 4.1 was great. Now that i have wm5 it is so hard to geat them to connect. It will not sync anything. When i have my phone in the cradle activesync on my computer says not connected and the phone says connected. Is there a patch or fix for this problem? Thanks LuXx
Finally got it to work. I had to turn off my zone alarm fire wall when i made the first connection. Now i can turn on the zone alarm and install programs and copy files to and from ppc. If i need to sync contacts then i have to turn off my fire wall. I've tried messing with the settings in zone alarm but nothing i do works on syncing with my fire wall on. Hope this can help someone.Thanx
I have the same problem. But I have no firewall installen on my PC. My XP SP2 firewall is disabled.
I have tried uninstalling, and installing Active Sync 4.1 but still the same. No syncing occurs, ActiveSync says not connected while mye Blueangel says connected.
Strange thing is, that if I connect over IR I can sync my phone. Just not with USB. I have both a cradle and a loose cable and none of them work.
Beside the firewall, check your network interface. ActiveSync 4.x will create a virtual network interface when a WM5 device is connected via USB. Check all the items (Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printing Sharing..., and TCP/IP) of the virtual NIC.

Did you look in Wiki..?
Hi All,
After all the common problems that you describe did any of you look in Wiki..?
Here's what's pasted about WM5 and Active Sync:
Wiki said:
Desktop and Acivesync 4.X
I can't sync my WM5 device now that I have upgraded.
This seems to be the case with some users and not with others.
One user reports that it works on his laptop but not on his desktop.
Firewalls are a known problem (PC-Cillin 12).
Otherwise you need to search the forums.
It seems that in some configurations Activesync does not sync some data with your Desktop PC.
Data that could be affected
Contacts
Calendar
E-mail
Tasks
Files, Notes and Favorites can sync OK. ?AvantGO Connect could sync OK. In such case check you have an Exchange connection on your desktop Outlook application. If that's the case, you should sync your device having a live Exchange connection first. After that, you should synchronize "offline" (i.e. without Exchange connection) without problems.

ActiveSync 4.2 on MDA

I cannot find my Activesyn on my MDA. I used both File Explorer and Total Commander. I last synced on 9/18 and it worked fine. Now, I cannot connect to my laptop and I think something may have happened to my activesyn on my MDA. It is installed on my PC and seems to be working OK. However, when I try to connect my MDA to my PC, my PC cannot locate my MDA Phone. Is there a way that I can reload Activesyn to my MDA? I still get Activesyn to show up in my programs that are running in memory on my MDA.
Thanks for your help!
ActiveSYnc
You should have a shortcut ActiveSync under folder "\Windows\Start Menu\Program" of your MDA device.
Usually I launch ActiveSync from Today/Programs menu.
If the program doesn't exist you shoud re-install ActiveSync on your PC and then re-sync with your PDA.
Bye.

did you install any firewall on your PC?
I have disabled my Firewall, AVG and Spysweeper before I tried to connect to the MDA.
I do not have a shortcut on my MDA for ActiveSync and I have checked the Startup folder, too. For some reason ActiveSync is not installed on my MDA. I have uninstalled ActiveSync on my PC and then did an Install of ActiveSync on my PC. Then I tried again to have the MDA recognized by my PC.
The PC recognized the MDA but when I try to have ActiveSync Connect to the MDA it Fails. I have run the Trouble Shooter and it does not find any problems.
I am at a complete loss.
Thanks for your inputs. I greatly appreciate your time and effort to help me.
I had problems same as you describe it, with sygate firewall and disableing didn't make any difference. Only after I shut it down my active sync was able to syncronize.

I did mean to say, 'shut it down' instead of disabling Sygate Firewall. That still did not make a difference this time. However, in the past (synced 3 times) I had no problem connecting my PC to the MDA. Just this last time. So, I believe ActiveSync is sort of flaky. Thanks, if I get it running, I will post.
Strange but true. I hade same problem which started when i accedently plug out cabel while sinc. after reboot all back in normal

cant connect to mobile device from ActiveSync

please anyone help me , i got att 8925, it used to work perfect before like everytime i connect my phone to ActiveSync now it didnt connect anymore, can anyone show me how to fix it...thnaks
Cant identify your prob? it could be a software or hardware prob
Did you try restartin both your pda n computer?
or try reinstall activesync or update your activesync the latest is 4.5 coz wm6 needs 4.5
or try to hard reset yr device then connect it
Check yor sync cable is properly connected to both devices
I haven't got my Kaiser yet - arrives tomorrow but this was sometimes a simple problem on the Hermes. Try disabling the advanced network functionality in the USB to PC settings - it might work.
You can sometimes have Activesync problems with conflicting data (AC sync is not only for Mail/contacts it does your My Documents and whatever you configured at association, and some app's puts data there!) Just do a soft-reset (stylus in the hole 'Carefully' and it should cure it.

Problem with Windows mobile device center

When i connect my diamond to my computer (under vista 64 ultimate SP1 french), i've got this message : votre connection rencontre un problème. veuillez déconnecter et reconnecter votre appareil, puis réessayer (your connection encounters a problem. Please disconnect and reconnect your device, then retry).
Tried to reinstall WMDC, no succes.
Tried on other computers (under vista an XP), no problem.
I can access the phone, flash new roms, but i can't sync my device.
Anyone has an idea to solve this ?
No one ???
Unplug your phone, delete the connection, plug the phone, create new connection. That should do it.
WMDC has many issues. I've been using a pocket PC for nearly 8 years and never had as much difficulty syncing my device as I have had with Vista!
Aside from what the moderator offered, there is no real option. I've tried re-booting the system with limited success.
Also please remember that WM6.1 has a bug which won't allow it to sync multiple computers. A search will lead you to that thread, but as far as I'm concerned, no solution worked for me...
Try this:
http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/win...drop-and-not-sync-with-vista-wmdc-activesync/
Did not the job for me, flashing a new rom was my solution...
cheers

No connection to delete. I have also tried to uninstall WMDC, but same issue. I can access the diamond, but i can't configure a connection. So no sync available.
No more idea ?

Activesync wont connect any more !

Tried this on two PCs with Activesync on now...
When I connect, the phone pops up the message about whether to use activesync or disk. If I choose disk, I can happily copy stuff from PC to phone.
However, if I choose activesync, it doesnt connect on the PC. I've tried manually connecting activesync on the PC, but it just doesnt find the phone.
Any ideas?
Did you use bluetooth to sync on that pc? If I sync over bluetooth and after that I try to sync by wire I get the same problem as you discribe .
I didn't try to find a way out just keep on syncing true bluetooth but one of the solutions maid be to remove the phone from active sync at your pc and setup a new connecion.
Willem
Nah. Just USB.
I just installed active sync for first time on my laptop here and it wont find. I'm wondering if its something on the actual phone I've deleted or something ?
Hi
Do you use Windows XP or Vista?
On Vista there are many problems but almost all are solved now just do a search on sync Vista in this forum and you maid find the solution.
Willem
Hi guys, I have similar problem. I can sync over BT but does not work over USB.
This problem is on my Vista laptop .
If I connect device with USB, I can find "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" in Device manager. In Network center, I can find new connection using this WMR adapter. But system is not able to assign IP adress for this connection.
Thats probably a reason why sync does not work.
I was trying reinstall Windows mobile center, disable antivirus, firewalls, update drivers...everything. Still does not work.
Any hints are appreciated.
Thanks Ladis
I have the same issue with windows vista and dutty 3.6 rom. It worked fine last time I tried in December, but I tried again yesterday and stopped working...
i have Duttys 3.6b, it was working perfectly. Stopped working after Vista reinstall... so its pretty weird
I found when using my laptop in battery mode activesync wont work but as soon as i switch to high performance mode everything is fine i guess its to do with voltage to the usb in diffeent modes
I'll probably try to flash there last Dutty's ROM V4 and see if there is some different
Hi,
I had the same problem when i change the ROM.
Go to Start -> Configuration -> Connections -> USBtoPC and below ActiveSync appers a sentence and comment to uncheck this item if you are facing problems with ActiveSync.
Test it.

This worked, strange that this setting is changed when you setup a bluetooth connection.
