Hi guys.
I have a TTyN II that appears to be dead.
I try to power it up and nothing happens. Obviously tried another battery etc.
When i plug it into a PC via USB, windows detects the phone and tries to install "data interface" but i don't have the drivers.
I downloaded MTTY to see if that would unbrick the phone, but it's not listed as a USB device (presumably because the data interface drivers aren't installed.
Any idea on what to do next?
Have you done a hard reset?
I tried holding down the camera and power buttons while pushing the reset button in but nothing happened
Hard reset not go into the boot screen

You haven't answered the question of whether you've tried a hard reset though - nevermind the boot screen, one step at a time. If you don't know how to do a hard reset then read the devices manual which will tell you, otherwise read the wiki here at xda-dev (always a good idea for someone new here). What bought this problem on ie what did you do immediately before the problem came along. When it's plugged in to either a PC or the battery charger, are there any lights displayed at the top near the earpiece? Finally, the 'drivers' you refer to are in Activesync 4.5 for Win XP or Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1 for Vista PCs.
ps It's not a good idea to be playing with mtty if you don't know how to do a hard reset - very scary.
HTC Kaiser - TyTn II - T-Mobile Vario III
Press and hold the Left & Right SOFT KEYs and at the same time use the stylus to press the RESET button. Release the stylus but keep pressing the SOFT KEYS until you see the Hard Reset warning screen. Release the SOFT KEYS and then press the LEFT PHONE KEY.
I tried this, but got no response after holding down the soft keys and releasing the reset button.
The last thing that was done to the phone was flashing a new radio rom to the phone. It wasn't done by me so i don't have the details on it.

The only clue that i have at all that the phone is alive is the "data interface" hardware installation wizard when plugged in via USB. no lights or screen activity on the phone at this stage either.

If the phone is plugged into a working USB port or battery charger then there should at least be a glowing LED in the earpiece so I think you'll need to book it in at a shop or repairer who's conversant with the device.
Well, i've got a degree in electronics, and i've got a kaiser of my own which i've been using for ages, as well as flashing roms and cooking some of my own, so if there was anyone qualified to tinker with the phone, it'd be me
i've just not come across this "data interface" driver installation request before.
Is there a driver available for that?

Did your degree not teach you to read peoples posts fully? It annoys me that I've taken the time to answer that question but you've not even read what I wrote about activesync or the latest version of WMDC (or if you have, not acknowledged it)
Sorry about that, i didn't spot the WMDC or activesync part of the message. Not trying to annoy you or anything.
Activesync 4.5 is installed and i have tried by ticking "allow usb connections" and unticking it also.
I was under the impression that Activesync shows up a message about installing a "Generic RNDIS Device" as opposed to the message i was receiving?
No,
depending on hardware / software configuration, it sometimes can be more tricky than that!
If you have the chance, try to connect your device with ActiveSync on another pc - it would be perfect if that computer never had a device connected before.
Well, i plugged it into my windows vista pc and i have got a step further at least. Windows update found the drivers. i now have this:
What should i do now to restore it back to health?

i tried that its not working, i cant get into bootloader, i have two tilts one that works fine and this one, i can get into bootload on mine but the problem one doesnt get into it, it just shows the att screen and starts up. The hard reset by pressing the soft keys and soft reset doesnt work either
You bought a faulty unit and the buttons are dead?
not knowing, you accidently bought a stolen unit and it is well secured by the former owner? (not just MS)
Hmmmm you cant hard reset? Either your buttons arent working, your phone has a bad block, or you are not performing the hard reset correctly. Hard reset is a base operation of the phone controlled by SPL if im not mistaken. Hey guys... is it also possible his NAND could be corrupt?
Also, just in case, to perform a hard reset, the correct buttons to hold in are these ( Highlighted by a red dot on each ):

Make sure to hold them in tightly as you soft reset
yeap ive been doing that it just starts up normally, its weird, i found a few weird things.
When starting up if you plug in the usb cable it will freeze at the att screen.
when i get into the home screen 15 reminders go off and the annoying att song plays over and over but i can get glimpses of the old owners stuff and then goes to the sim lock screen. If i plug in the usb at this time everything will freeze but itll still play the att song and vibrate and it then shut off after 10 seconds.
Well guys i've had my phone totally messed up because i installed the HTC home plug and somehow it messed my phone up and i could not goto clear storage and for some reason could not get the prompt for the hard reset to come up. I searched google and here of couse and didn't find much except for soft keys and the soft reset button. Still could not get the prompt. So hopefully this can help anyone who cannot get the hard reset prompt. I searched to see if there was another thread about how to do this but i couldn't find anything so sorry if this is already posted but heres the steps that worked wonders for me!
1. go into bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera button with the power button. then use the soft reset button.
(hopefully you come to the tri color screen.
2. When your at this screen.. press and hold then 2 soft keys and while holding those 2 .. use your stylus for the soft reset button.. and hold until the prompt to hard reset comes up
If you have done this correctly you should get the prompt to hard reset follow the steps on screen and you finally got the reset done!
I got this to work many times on the FIRST time so I didn't have to mess with keep trying. I kept trying before I found this and never got the prompt so this helped me alot!!
I'd hate to break your bubble but this has already been covered numerous times in the wiki and all over the kaiser section.
Nice try though
For the 100th time.......

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THESE BUTTONS and the soft reset button AT THE SAME TIME.
Unless you broke your keyboard, this WILL work. Please note that this is in the Wiki ALL OVER the place!
ok i know it's the left soft key and right soft key but the thing was i trying to get at was: it worked the first time for me when i was in BOOTLOAD mode. i tried hard reseting just on the today screen and i could not get it to work. i went into bootload and tried the reset and it popped right up. like i said it might have been covered. but i could not find where it said do the right soft and left soft while in bootload mode.

Boot loader is NOT necessary. Hold the two buttons, and only those two buttons, and hit the reset button with the stylus. Done.

Dude, can you read? He said that didn't work for him. So it sounds like it was necessary for him to use the bootloader.

Hi all
I have managed to hardbrick my phone without even trying to flash it.
I have a white 128gb Mi 5 with an unlocked bootloader and (i think) running Cyanogenmod13 (but it was such a long time ago that i installed it - before global stable was out) I've always been happy with it but kept meaning to sit down and put global on it, but havent gotten around to it.
Yesterday i was using my phone, put it in my handbag, took it out ten mins later and it was completely dead. But it was definitely at 100% charge at the time as i had it plugged in on the train. No leds, no response, no screen, not recognised by computer or anything.
There have been a few instances when i pulled my phone out of my bag and the fastboot screen has been up and luckily i've cancelled it. I've been doing a bit of research and i'm pretty sure that i somehow managed to enter fastboot mode in my bag by accident and then corrupt it somehow?
I've been playing about a bit with it. (it's still under warranty, but I can't send it back, because it's got an unofficial rom on it)
I've managed to get it to be recognised on my laptop now by following a video tutorial which i'm not able to post because this is my first post, but it's from choimobile,vn and just in case anyone wants to know which steps i've made it to, this is the rest of the address, /threads/unbrick-xiaomi-mi5-repair-boot-xiaomi-mi5-hardbrick-pc-not-detected.
But i've reached a point that i can't go any further. In all the guides i've read, people talk about the pc recognising the phone as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 but mine doesn't. It just recognises it as "android" so then flashing with miflash doesn't work.
Does anyone know what else i can do? I'm a noob at this so if you could keep the explanations simple, that would be great!
Thanks
Angelina
Forgot to add... phone still connects to my computer fine, i can still see everything and can access the internal memory.
Here's some photos

I'm pretty sure you can't actually do any damage in fastboot without being connected to a PC.
You say your pc detects your phone storage fine so that means it's either booted or in recovery. Either way, you should have some kind of display being shown so it sounds like your screen is broken.
Do you know what recovery you have installed? I'd advise you try to reboot into it (power off -> hold power and volume up) or boot into fastboot and flash twrp recovery.
If your screen never changes from off after restarting, it's likely the screen that's the issue.

Hmm, OK that's strange, i've not done anything that would break it, especially in that short period of time. But I guess it could be a loose connection or something. Although that wouldn't explain why there are no leds or why it doesn't respond to being charged? if it was a broken screen, everything else would work fine.
I could only see it on my pc after taking it apart, disconnecting the battery and using tweezers to connect 2 points on the internal board like in the video above. If i disconnect it, then plug it in again, it's not recognised until i use the tweezers on the two points again.
I've tried to reboot it and get into fastboot again, but it definitely isn't responding.
Thanks
hmm have you tried plugging it to power source then hold power button like one min..?
because last week my phone was just dead, and doesn't respond to anything, though it's slightly different because mine stuck forever at 9008 mode, yet still stuck there even though i flashed new rom
the only cure to wake it up was to attach to charger then holding power button for one minute
or you can try using DFC cable to force into EDL mode
Hiya!
Yes i've tried various combinations of holding different buttons whilst fully charged/discharging/connecting to computer via the test point etc
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Unfortunately, the DFC cable won't work, as that is what i've done with the test point method. It will allow me to connect the phone to the computer but that's as far as it gets.
Bumping this in the hope that someone may have an answer.
Your phone was dead because your power button kept pressing accidentally for a long time as you kept it in your bag, i too have the same problem and I showed it in service center but no luck they suggested me to change the motherboard...
Hello guys,
So I am pretty new to rooting, only did it once with my old moto and all worked out easy and peasy.
Yesterday I got this moto e5 and a COMPANY gift... and I decided to root it, so I could mess around a little more.
After a whole day trying to root my new e5, finding errors and not knowing for sure if my device was bootloader unlocked,(I did get the number on the e-mail that motorola sends you and flashed on the phone)My phone would only start holding volume down and power button together, but even after that, when I tried to go to the phone itself, I just got a messege saying N/A and got stuck in the MOTO logo forever...
All good till now, not a big deal since it was a soft brick, so, I tried to install a ROM and get my phone working... but got some erros on cmd and I just kept pressing enter and BAM, my phone blacked out.
I cant turn it won, no lights no nothing, if I charge it, the charging light appears, if I plug it in the computer nothing happens unless I hold volume down and power button together, then windows make a poping sound but says the the usb in unrecognized.
Went to the driver sections and this is what it shows.

Already tried running adb but it only says, waiting for device...
Already tried updtaing the driver and it gets me to nothing, same thing with unstalling, it just says the same unrecognized usb problem..
Any help is appreciated.
I am thinking of returning it to the store but I am afraid they'll just say theres nothing they can do, because its bricked, is there a way them knowing even i it doesnt connect to the usb?

Can't boot into recovery or fastboot and not going to EDL completely
seeing that QDLoader in Device Manager on your PC means you're already in EDL mode. now the problem with that hello packet.
*try to use different cable
*disable driver enforcement
*power cycle the phone by pressing power + volume up + volume down about 15secs until u don't see the QDLoader in device manager
proceed as usual on xiaomiflashtool
i try 4 different cable
oneplus cable charging and 2 others i buy it from store just now , same issue
*power cycle the phone by pressing power + volume up + volume down about 15secs ( not see anything in my phone screen but it's connect on pc with 9008 )
i try my father cable it's show me like that
