Help Diagnosing the problem - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ok well my touch screen has stopped working.
I've ruled out it's not software as it's happened on several Roms and radios. I sent it away to 3 to be repaired but those idiots didn't even look at it.
It worked momentarily today, though I soft reset my phone (was lagging a lot) and when it came back on it stopped working again.
What I've noticed is the screen always makes a quiet high pitch rining noise. and when you touch the screen the noise goes quieter.
Now with my one, when you touch the screen the noise goes higher (though it didn't do this when it was working)
I want to try and get as much information as possible to give to the repair centre to fix the damn thing this time.
Any ideas?
Cheers

sounds just like the death cries of my old himalaya now it's buried in a cupboard collecting dust
sorry I can't help
could be that exchanging the digitiser would fix it but
it could be something else but agree it's a hardware issue
I too tried soft/hard reset and re-flashing of rom

problem with touch screen, can't click on anything

i just recently bought my xda2s and it worked fine for a week though. now, from time to time my screen would be "untouchable". literally i cannot click anything or open anything even if i soft-reset it for 10x. buttons seem to work fine but the screen does not. it happened twice while my bluetooth was "on" and i thought maybe it was the bluetooth but recently the same thing happened with my bluetooth now turned "off". i have to wait for hours before it would return to normal again. Anybody help please? By the way, my bluetooth version is 1.0.0 build 3500.
I had a similar problem on my Samsung SPH-i700 PocketPC Phone through Verizon Wireless. Even after a hard reset, I couldn't get past the screen calibration, until I found out that a piece of hair and debris found on the outer edge of the screen right under the lip of the cover was interfering with the touch portion of the display. Apparently, the touch sensors extend past the visible area of the screen, so with both a little aircan and vacuum cleaning, the debris was picked up and the touch screen functioned normally again.
Is this a consistent and/or intermittent problem? Did a hard reset resolve anything?
look for the alignment
Do you have Calligragher 7.4 installed? I read about this in Tekguru website that if you re-install 7.3, the problem goes away. That is what I have done and it seems to be working for me so far (2 days test).
i've checked out my screen and i dont see any dirt or something... i even have a screen protector... dont know if that might cause the problem. Same thing happened last night but this time it was just for a short period of time then it went back to normal... I didn't try a hard reset cause i dont want to loose some of my files but if ever it happened again, i might try doing a hard reset and see what happens... right now, im having my xda2s checked if maybe it's a factory defect or something...
regarding the caligrapher program thing, i dont have that...
Hey, i have the exact same problem I bought mine here in Toronto, from an Asian dealer, its the O2 XDA IIs asia-pacific model.
Same problem, screen(touch screen) goes dead like no responses to any touches, for like half hour - 2hour once in a day or something and nothing cures it, hard soft rest nothing. just with time it suddenly starts working and the Handheld is useless until then...well i dont see any cure and this is the only place i have heard about someone else having this issue, i will take it back to the dealer, in hopes of exchanging.
any feedback will be will be appreciated
overclock it for a few days..that fixed mine..dont know how but it did.
There is a tread in blue angel about screen aliment that you might like to read. seems 4k of devices went out with screen problems.
What is overclock it. Fairly new to this. Mine just keeps trying to allign and thats all it does it doesnt go into boot mode just allign screen all the time

my tilt turned white

i took it out of my pocket to see what time it was, and the phone is white, i reset it, hard reset it, flashed new rom, flashed new spl.. no luck.. everything is just white.. phones operation remains intact.. but i cannot see anything that is happening. there is probably a thread on here about it, but all i saw was about wrecked spl flashes.. what can i do?
A number of people (including myself) have experienced issues with the Tilt screen going to a permanently "washed out" white. Unfortunately, this appears to be a hardware defect, and the only thing you can do at this point is flash everything back to the original settings and exchange the phone (assuming it's still under warranty).
Brrrrrr. This sounds like the horrors with the hermes!!!! Plz. let this not be true, it is the reason why I am stuck with a Kaiser for 2 years now instead of with a Touch Pro/Vario IV at the end of this summer :-((
By the way shouldn't this post be moved to Kaiser General?
return it its coverd under warantee or even if is not they'll fix it its known issue
turned white you say? quick head down to the apple store. you can bump it for 350!
just remember to say "no im serious...its real...look...theres the 3g sign.
Just buy a new LCD....i believe the problem is in the flex cable going to the screen. Hardware problem's suck. But it's the only fix i know..or send it to one of those expensive fix places online.
Like when poop gets really old it turns white?
i had this happen before on an old tilt. it happened on hot days outside the screen would turn white. i couldnt figure it out, it prolly happened about 10 or 15 times this summer.
my fix...
mash down on the area around the lcd. most of the time it worked if i mashed down in the center of the little 1/4 inch thick strip of plastic btwn the bottom of the screen & the bottom buttons. if that doesnt work, try all around that strip. that worked prolly 90 or 95% of the time for me. a couple times it didnt work & i had to mash around the whole screen.
i know it doesnt sound kosher, but hey percussive maintenance always worked back in my vcr days.

[Q] Touch screen dead spots

This may be a problem beyond the scope of android, but seeing as I'm running it, I thought I'd try here first.
I've noticed that the lower left hand side of my screen has a "dead spot" where touch is simply not registered. To illustrate, I went to screen calibration's test screen and drew a straight line along the edge of the screen. (See Attachment)
I've tried recalibrating the screen (manually and resetting to default calibration) as well as wiping data and reinstalling the system. Reinstalling the system worked once, but then the problem came back and subsequent reinstalls did not fix the issue.
I'm running Incubus26jc super froyo [RLS 12] on the 15-07-10 340X480 Froyo Kernel.
Anyone else seen anything like this? As far as I can tell, the problem is not getting any worse. Currently, it's only a hindrance when trying to use keys in that region, but I can work around it by switching to and from landscape. It's a bit of a hassle, so I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on the situation.
I was sure it was hardware until the system reinstall fixed it, but am now baffled as I can no longer replicate the fix.
I have not tried reinstalling the kernel but will at some point in the next day or so. I'd like to avoid switching back to WM to check if the problem persists, but may have to... we'll see. Doing everything I can to make this phone last until the Incredible month of February when I'm up for an upgrade.
dont know the issue resolution... but i have the same with my touch vogue.. and in the same 'area' apparently as well.
hard for me to hit the 'a' key on my keyboard. hehe
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one... anyone else?
Bottom right corner for me... I was able to calibrate around it but it took a few tries.

The sensitivity across my screen was inconsistent some time ago. I found that years of my abuse had taken a tole on the exterior of my phone. It eventually got worse and I bought a new housing (with a new digitizer) on ebay for a reasonable price. If it is hardware then it really isn't that hard to fix if you like taking things apart.
If you're sure that win mo accepts input from that part of the screen then nevermind my post. I would play with a painting app though and investigate the hardware further.
I may be talking a little out my a$$ with this part but.. is it possible that in calibrating your screen the os may change it's settings on how hard you have to press and such also. that may be how you got it working.
In any case, my investment in a hew housing was well worth it considering how modern my old phone has become thanks to the developers here.

In my case, no - when drawing a straight line down or across the screen, the line starts 'moving' away from the stylus (like the picture in the OP).
Gah... now it's shutting itself off randomly and the dead spot has grown. Not good at all.
Yeah, mine was better for a while then 'slid' again. I ended up swapping the digitizer with my other Vogue and things are back to normal.

I have another vogue, but am weary of doing anything like that. How hard was it to get done?
All you need to do is switch the front half of the housing rather than the digitizer itself- it's not hard. There's a teardown guide somewhere in the forum, Google Vogue teardown and it should be at the top.

The only thing that worries me is that my spare vogue exists because it was dropped in a muddy puddle. I'm hoping the water damage isn't too bad. Guess we'll just have to see.
it is really annoying
I have the exact same problem and I too thought it was a hardware issue till I saw this Thread. I was ignoring it till two days ago when it started really bugging me. Now, I don't even need to press any button and it automatically gets pressed around the curve and I have a google search box there, so it keeps on searching for eee or sss randomly and started draining my battery. Is there a proper fix for this?
I thought I'd chime in too... I could never seem to calibrate the touchscreen properly in either Android or Debian. Changing the screen resolution (i.e. msmfb scaling) seems to have no effect, whether it's 240x320 or 640x480. Any area within 5mm or so of the edges of the LCD will register as the edge, making "A" and several other keys on the virtual keyboard impossible to hit. Passing calibration values to the kernel didn't seem to fix anything, but it's possible I was using them the wrong way...
i have the same kind of problem on my Kaiser... i think its realted to hardware... either the housing or the digitizer...
I am experiencing the same problem on X10 mini pro. the same screen spot exactly, i have to try very hard to get z or x or shift to work. Sometimes when I try locking the screen and unlocking it back, it works.
update
so after a very long time with this problem i decided to change the digitizer and problem is gonne. visualy the broken digitizer had nothing wrong with it. The fix was fairly easy though, there is no glued parts involved into getting a new digitizer on the u20i.
Touch Screen
I just bought a brand new Cubot One and it looks more than perfect! It has just a little problem with the touch screen ( I think its the software, need ROM change). There is a dead line on the right side of the screen that touch doesn't work at all. Any solutions? Anyone faced that before? Can I fix it myself or do I have to send it back for replacement? Is there any video or guide that shows its done?
I uploaded a video on YouTube to show the problem but i cant post it yet.. (new member)
You can write "Cubot One touch screen problem" and it's the 1st one.
Thank You!

Touchscreen malfunctioning.

Hello,
I bought a used Z1 almost a year ago. Everything was working perfectly, I was very content with my purchase but I broke the display shortly after. I got it changed at a local repairman but ever since then, my screen acts weirdly.
1. When I use the phone for 10-15minutes, it gets a little warm and so do my fingers and then the touchscreen starts acting weird and pressing stuff on its own. If I lock/unlock it, the problem is solved.
2. Same thing happens when the phone is turned sideways for a few minutes and when I flip it vertically, the touchscreen starts acting weird. Lock/unlock fixes the issue again.
The fact that lock/unlock fixes it leads me to believe that it's not a hardware problem. I started a research and found this topic - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691849 , however it's a bit outdated and is already edited saying not to try the fix. I'm not proficient enough at this so I cannot really grasp the idea behind the topic mentioned earlier and can't get myself to try it cause it might brick my phone or something.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Regards:good:
sorry to say you friend but it's a hardware problem it's something related whut the screen contrast I've tried everything the only thing left it's to get an original screen replacement and I haven't been able to get one in my country
Generic Screen, that's the problem, i would never recommend to buy a "new" screen, always buy an used one or a phone with broken motherboard and swap them imo
tbh, your problem is weird to, may be a bad installation, i had the same problem in a z1 that i use for games, disassembly all the phone and now I'm using the screen without gluing to the base and the problem was "solved"

[Need Help] Note 9 bottom speaker volume level suddenly started to sound muffled

hi there, I have been experiencing this issue with my Galaxy note 9 (SM-N960F/DS). suddenly yesterday day I noticed that the volume the bottom speaker of my phone has dropped drastically, even bellow the volume level of the earpiece speaker, I tried wiping cache and what other stuff I could think of to try to fix the issue but nothing worked.
Finally as my last resort to make sure if maybe it is a software issue and not a hardware one, I factory reseted it, it started to work just fine after that!
But it didn't last for very long, next day, after when I woke up, I noticed the volume has been dropped again. Now I am sure as everyone would understand, resetting my phone everyday is not an option for me
I tried asking Samsung help center but they say I need to bring it in to the nearest service center, which is not an option for me, and who are kidding they don't help, they suck.
SOME INFORMATION regarding my phone
●Note 9 SM-N960F/DS
●Updated to One UI 2.1 a week ago
●I never have had any problem before
●Speaker started to work factory reset have proved that it's a software problem
●Samsung care sucks
If anyone is having the same problem please do post, and anyone who has any idea what's going on please do post too, your help can literally save my life.
Thanks everyone

I think that maybe the case too. Or you could take a handheld vacuum cleaner to it with the crevious attachment to suck out any dust or debrie that maybe stuck in the speaker grill

Hi Eddie, I would have agreed with you but the thing is that doing a factory reset resolved the problem for me once, then it eventually appeared again, so this indicates that it is a software issue! No?

But then how did the factory reset fix the problem for me once? I am sure it has something to do with software. Can you think of anything that I should try to fix it supposing it's a software issue (other than a factory reset of course) thanks.
Hmm seeing that you have corrected the issue in the past by doing the factory reset it is possibly a software issue..
Possibly try a reflash using odin?
It won't break your warranty unless you have rooted ij the past..
If that fails take a trip to samsung get it repaired under warranty
All.the best eddie
hi, go to service menu by dialing *#0#*, and test speaker there. this will confirm whether it is hardware or software.

Hey Eddie thanks for the odin suggestion, I tried it and finally realized that I was just being too stubborn to admit that my phone has a hardware issue. Turns out the audio never got better after a reset, it just felt a bit different as I wanted to be it that way.
Anyways time to admit the hard truth it is a hardware issue and I think won't get it repaired, both speakers now get as loud as an S8 which by any means is not a the best speaker out there, but it gets the job done, thanks for time, Abdul Wahab.

I had the very same problem. After the update. Same phone Other than the phone heating up and taking really long to charge, the speaker output dropped then got flakey. And finally stopped working. All this happened after the update.
Did a reset. Even took it to the service center and let them re-load the s/w.
Nothing helped. In the end both speakers, both mics, and ear jack will stop working.
I traced the problem down to one of two ICs one is the Max98512 or the 9896B.
If your out of warranty they will want to charge you 28,000 + for a new motherboard.
They looked really hard for physical damage and water damage. But my phone is immaculate.
From the showroom got a world-class case and screen protector.
Not a scratch they could find. I don't even take my phone off my desk. Kids actually nobody is allowed to even touch it.
At first I thought it was something I did. But as you research update problems you will see many issues from failing audio to failing displays.
The local small-time repair shop service guys will say we can fix it. But they pull a con. They just reball the audio IC and hit it up with heat. There is a chance that it will start working but the repair will not last.
Last option is to put the chips on Ali express and replace them yourself. Which is what I will do if Samsung Shafts me.
I have e-mailed the Service head of Samsung to resolve the problem.
My logic is that a flag ship should last 2 years at least.
If they shaft me on this Samsung have lost a loyal customer from Note 4 days.
You could get lucky doing things like cleaning the ear phones, the cache etc.
