Hi,
I'm using my Xperia as mobile navigtion while I'm riding my motorbike. Two days ago I was driving on the highway...when suddenly my music stopped and my device startet a Phonecall (to the last person I called) - this happened THREE TIMES in half a hour! (kinda expensive...)
While I'm using TomTom (or any other GPS software) I cannot turn the keylock in, because then the software won't get any GPS-signal.
Now I wanted to know if anybody knows a registry-string I have to change that GPS would work while I'm using for example TomTom and listening to music and turn the keylock on.
I updated my Rom to R3AA007 few days ago...but with older ROMs it's the same...
As far as i know, most of nav-progs have a lock-while-drive-mode, maybe the tomtom too.
that'S not enough. when you break at a traffic-light, the lock may be removed because it's only active over a defined speed. but when I'm using it with my motorbike, it's in my pocket...and everytime the touch-display could be touched....even if I stop at a traffic light
Looks like we have the same problem. I'm also interested to know how to work around this.
if you don't like to se quickGPS, you could turn your phone off and on again (without entering the pin number....if you leave it off, tomtom tells you, that you are using flight-mode ) but I'd like to use quickGPS...
does nobody have an idea?
perhaps some keywords to search in the regitstry...??
up...perhaps somebody now has got any idea...
keylock is not the problem.
i bet 5$ that u have used the included headset right?
the bulky part where you connect ur earphones is the problem. the tiny switch used for accepting calls is either totaly borked or the connector itself is. i have exact the same problem. i called a mate like 20 times.
i use my phone to listen to music while i drive my motorcycle any my keypad is locked all the time. it doesnt realy matter why prog u are running.
when u press the little button short or long (cant remember) it starts calling the last person on your dial list. somehow this button seem to be pretty sesitive to movements. this also works when the keypad is locked.
so either we buy a new headset or we find teh registry entry which defines the use of this worthless button

Has anyone got the radioshack digitraveller working with the tomtom 2 navigation software?
What settings are you using? I have tried NMEA 0183v2 driver and NMEA 0183v2 : 4800 and the light comes on but it just sits there and doesn't get a fix
Cheers
Neil
tomtom gps or nmea at 4800 will work, I used mine today, however it takes a loooooooooooooooong time to get first fix, make sure under settings/connections/beam, that the box to accept all incoming beams is switched off, also if you have the driver for the folding keyboard in rom, it will need disabling after EVERY boot or it will snatch the com port and tomtom wont work. Go to tomtom properties, go to gps and look to see if a signal is being looked for, you will see a line of dots from the dish icon running left to right.
WOOHOO!!
Its working now, it just took AGES to get a fix, drove round in the car for about 15mins then it found some. So I setup tomtom to take me home, which it did, but I noticed the voice prompts were quite late, ie. i would turn the corner, then it would say "Turn Left.." after i had gone round it.
Also now I have just got back, exited tomtom, nothing is running gps not plugged in, and the phone is CRAWLING!! there is about 15mb of mem free so no probs there...
This is in WM2003 4.0.11, would PPC2002 be any better? less resource hungry maybe ?
I'm not too bothered about using WM2003 anymore, it seems more trouble than its worth at the moment... especially seen as it has soft reset its-self a couple of times... just waiting for my new SD card to erase spontaniously (sp?) now
I went back to 2002, I had far to many problems with wm2003, its up to you, but at least give it a try as I find it far more stable. By the way, did your sd card have a hardware switch to prevent erasure, I seem to remember you thought it lacked that feature when you ordered it.
No the SD card has no lock on it thats kind of whats worrying me about WM2003, don't really want it blanking the card when i'm out somewhere because i'd have no maps then so GPS would be useless
I think I'll try it on PPC2002 later, until a more stable version of WM2003 is around.
Cheers
I have found that if you use external power with the digitraveler but have no batteries in the unit, you have to wait for ages for the gps to lock on, however if you make sure that batteries are present it reduces the initialisation times dramatically. Maybe it stores an almanac and needs a little power to keep the memory, I dont really know, but try it and see if you get the same results as me. In tomtom when starting up without batteries I get one sat then wait ages for another, when batteries are left the unit it finds lots almost immediately then gets a 3d lock a little while later.
Been playing around with it a bit more today, put PPC2002 back on everything seems to run better... might just be because its a fresh install.
At the moment I'm running it just off batteries, and it does say GPS fix unreliable sometimes but I'll see what happens with power cable connected to it aswell.
I want to try and sort it out so that I can put the XDA into some sort of car cradle, and it will link up the GPS receiver, charge the XDA, output voice prompts to the Aux-In on my car stereo.
Would be awesome if it works, but i'm just a bit worried about the sturdyness of the xda when its in the cradle, I don't want to go breaking the connector on the pcb or anything because the phone is rocking around too much...
Cheers
Folks,
Recently I upgraded my phone from 8525 to Tilt. Overall a great device but there are few quirks but I guess you cant have everything. I have few questions which I tried to find answers for but couldnt.
1) Is there a way to manually turn GPS on or off? My GPS was working fine but after I installed Map4PDA i think it changed some GPS COM port settings etc. and now none of the Satellite programs such as MS Live Search or Google Maps work. Everytime i start any one of them they cant communicate with intermediate driver and the application hangs. When i kill the app, the GPS hardware i think remains on (the orange LED keeps blinking) and the device becomes ridiculously slow. Remedy is to soft reset the device but its a PITA. Besides, now I cannot use any of the navigation software. If I hard reset the phone i guess it will restore everything back to normal but i'll lose all my customization which i really dont want to. I guess there are backup programs out there but not sure how good they are w.r.t. restoring system state and even if do restore system state, i may have same problem with GPS. So whats the good way to control GPS functionality, change settings etc.
2) Is there any way to leave LCD on while you are on the phone, backlight can be turned off. Currently its a pain to bring up LCD when you are on the phone, you have to use some hardware button to turn it on, not really ideal. I dont want to turn off power save completely for obvious reasons. When i was using MS Live Search and using GPS, it kept the display on all the time even though i was on battery which I think was a bright idea.
3) I use Slide2Unlock and with 8525 i could use the hardware navigation button (the rocker switch) to unlock the phone but with Tilt it doesnt work, any way to get that working (I should probably post this question in S2U thread).
IMO # 2,3 at least should be registry-tweakable, just need to know which one. GPS question might be hard to crack but I hope some of the experts here would be able to provide an answer.
Thanks in advance, there is a great site!!!
Sam
I will answer #1 - Map4PDA will kill your GPS. I posted about this last week with no replies. Unfortunately, my only option was to hard reset my Tilt. I searched til my fingers were down to the bone and found nothing that revive my GPS. I could see that it was turning on, but it wouldn't turn off again after using Google Maps (or any other program, for that matter).
In the end, hard reset was my only solution. Too bad, cuz it's a sweet program that will let you use Google, Yahoo or MSN maps, plus I like the neat speedo.
.:Christian:.
Too bad I didnt come accross your post before I installed that stupid app, darn! Thanks for the insight but that means there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Is there a posibility to let the GPS on, even TYTN II goes in Standby?
I only want to track my route and don't want to loose much power with the display.
You need to use a screen toggle command such as those found with SPB Pockets Plus & other X-Button type programs.
Yeah, there is a program called trackme, which if you check this forum a lot I'm sure to have seen, that has a button to turn the screen off, although thats not really putting it in standby since all the buttons can still be pressed, so if you want to keep your phone in your pocket that won't work so well. I have also been trying to find a good solution to this problem with not much luck so far. For now I just use my car charger
BTW if you do a lot of driving/traveling around you should check out the program in my signature, its a pretty cool map program that pays for collecting GPS data. It really pays too, I made $40 in less than a week with just normal driving.
Sorry I couldn't be more help with the standby issue, if you find a good solution to this let me know.
Loving the Diamond... but big issues have come up and they are starting to make it difficult to really use the device. I am trying to determine if the issues I am having are brought on by myself or if the issues are related to some challenge with the phone or my carrier.
"What's the issue," you ask?
The Diamond will not pick up a call. The phone will ring, the caller display will come up, I'll try and pick it up by either pushing the onscreen command or pick it up via the pick-up button... nothing. The call rings through to voicemail. Meanwhile I have to call the person back who just called me. Massively irritating and even more irritating it's does actually pick up SOMETIMES. The problem is I cannot determine why it works sometimes and why it does not. 90% of the time it does not work. When I do get it to work all I need to do is activate my bluetooth headset and then turn it back off and we are back in the same situation where the phone will not answer, however, this time... the phone does not RING either! Yes that's right - all sounds go bye bye on the phone when I activate BT and then turn it off. Also, I cannot pick up the phone with bluetooth headset. I can hear the phone ring through and everything looks dandy but no go! Push the pick-up button - nothing. This isn't such a big deal really - I mean - who cares if it picks up on the BT headset - I just want to be able to answer a call in general!
Now - I do have a lot of applications on the machine from a modifcation perspective and I am thinking this could all very well be my fault. I have Advance Config, Diamond TF3D config, and Diamond Tweak all loaded (each have their own benefit.)
Strange thing is... I just did a test and the phone picks up JUST FINE. I'm about ready to pull my hair out. It's really hard to put my finger on it. Tried it a second time, if I try to answer with the soft key it won't work but the hard key will work. Now the hard key will not actually hang up the call - I have to use the softkey to hang it up. I don't know if anyone is having the same issues but I am to the point of hard-reset to start from scratch.
I actually had the "can't pick up" problem just yesterday, but with my Prophet. Using Pdaviet's MyVista 6.1 Rom and S2U2. The phone rang, S2U2 displaying the full screen call notification, no chance of picking up the call.
Do you also use S2U2?
When you find your self in a hole, it usually helps if you stop digging.
Unpalatable as it might seem, I think with hassles like you've got, a HR is probably your best option.
ps, just a thought, have you at any stage in your tweaking done any button or key re-mapping... either inadvertently or by design? Maybe worth a check before giving up
wow, that's a whole load of issues
I've had my Diamond for about a week now..... and have had none of those issues..... Bluetooth works fine, picking up is a breeze....
what provider are you with?
I remember reading more complaints about sound going bye after Bluetooth use in the early days of the Diamond. Try searching around a bit and see if you can find something. However, seeing your other issues, a hard-reset might not be out of place.
Also, for aesthetics, do note that it is usually considered bad practice to place two identical symbols after each other when masking cursewords with random characters.

By far probably the best advise yet!
The emotional side... aka incredible hulk... came out and punched shift/keyboard number row (pounded rather.) I was thinking in my head, "smash Diamond" and the KB had to take the abuse.
Carrier information for those who asked.
CDMA Diamond on the lovely Telus system (aka - Tel-us, we take your money)
As with all troubleshooting, you need to start from beginning. When you first got the phone, it could answer call. Right? So you need to trace back to what have you done to the phone step by step and to find out when it starts to fail.
Doh... Well I reset the device... seems to work now but something that seemed to be working before was my Zune subscription music from Zune Pass was synching to my mobile device via a Synch Center setup. I was amazed it was actually working... now it's not working So - I get calling back and lose the little trick that was working - Zune Pass DRM music synching with my Diamond... you win some and you lose some I guess doh.

You should do some research and some reading.
And relax a little before you Fire up and disrupt a Community in peace.
I have the same thing going on now... same programs installed as you.
Is it still working after a hard reset? Did you re-install all the same programs?
Well, I'm on a Telus Diamond, and had the no answer problem, and solved it with a hard reset.. just try it, it doesn't take too much to get everything back to the way you had everything..
I have a HTC Diamond running ROM 2.03.707.2 WWE, for some unknown reason, the past 2 months I keep having the following problems with my Diamond suddenly -
1. Random dial-outs to the last dialed number, when my headset is plugged in. I keep killing the calls and it keeps coming back.
2. Voice commander keeps activating without my clicking anything, and have my headset plugged in - tends to happen when I listening to FM radio/windows media player/TF music player. Same as above, I keep trying to kill it and it keeps re-activating, drives me absolutely nuts.
3. Calls tend to go on hold when I am talking halfway, I am sure my fingers did not hit the 'hold' button at all.
4. Sometimes, calls in progress are cut off - screen is off so I know cannot be because I pressed on it accidentally.
i am a noob so I have no idea of what to do about this, and I don't dare to just try and flash/replace ROMs as I am afraid that I'll brick it....
Thank god I found this thread - I had no idea what to search for; I tried 'sudden calls', 'spontaneous calls' etc. but found nothing, and by digging through all the threads I found someone with the same problems, but alas, no answer yet.
I have to permanenty disable outgoing connections because this problem is so annoying. I also noticed it happend with the headset plugged in, and for me also when I'm playing some music with win media player. I can have the device locked (hold end button), turned off (top button on phone), or turned on, and this problem always occurs.
I'm using a custom rom, dutch, ver. 1.39.479.2 (forgot which one ) , radio version 1.00.25.05 (quad band/power save/connection improved version).
Was thinking this might have something to do with the radio, but somehow it seems the headset is definately causing this since thats the only common factor.
Any help from the pro's please?
Same here.
There are other threads about this problem.
Still looking for a solution like, let's say a registry hack that disables the headset button...
