Random Call Out and Voice Commander Activation Issues - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have a HTC Diamond running ROM 2.03.707.2 WWE, for some unknown reason, the past 2 months I keep having the following problems with my Diamond suddenly -
1. Random dial-outs to the last dialed number, when my headset is plugged in. I keep killing the calls and it keeps coming back.
2. Voice commander keeps activating without my clicking anything, and have my headset plugged in - tends to happen when I listening to FM radio/windows media player/TF music player. Same as above, I keep trying to kill it and it keeps re-activating, drives me absolutely nuts.
3. Calls tend to go on hold when I am talking halfway, I am sure my fingers did not hit the 'hold' button at all.
4. Sometimes, calls in progress are cut off - screen is off so I know cannot be because I pressed on it accidentally.
i am a noob so I have no idea of what to do about this, and I don't dare to just try and flash/replace ROMs as I am afraid that I'll brick it....

Thank god I found this thread - I had no idea what to search for; I tried 'sudden calls', 'spontaneous calls' etc. but found nothing, and by digging through all the threads I found someone with the same problems, but alas, no answer yet.
I have to permanenty disable outgoing connections because this problem is so annoying. I also noticed it happend with the headset plugged in, and for me also when I'm playing some music with win media player. I can have the device locked (hold end button), turned off (top button on phone), or turned on, and this problem always occurs.
I'm using a custom rom, dutch, ver. 1.39.479.2 (forgot which one ) , radio version 1.00.25.05 (quad band/power save/connection improved version).
Was thinking this might have something to do with the radio, but somehow it seems the headset is definately causing this since thats the only common factor.
Any help from the pro's please?

Same here.
There are other threads about this problem.
Still looking for a solution like, let's say a registry hack that disables the headset button...

I've having problems since i've bought my diamond. It's suddenly stops ringing and starts only vibrating when i have an incomming call, without sounds. When it happens I have to make a soft reset to it become normal again; but the same problem occours many times in a day! I tried to play music when it occours, and the speaker works normally. All volume (ring and system) are in the maximum. Every day i loose many calls because of this problem. I have already updated the rom version with the one provided by HTC hong kong, but the problem continue. I have a ring delay problem too; it rings on the 3rd time, after the lights flashes. Can anybody help me?

I have this problem but ONLY after listening to music over a bluetooth headset.
I know this maye sound silly, but when you test your phone to make sure it is going to ring, make sure the volume (buttons of side of the phone) is up full.
A few times I have been in 'normal' made, but the phone only vibrates - this is because I have somehow lowered the volume by pressing the side keys.
May save a a few blushes, you never know!
Help
Please guys, help us solve this problem. I dont know what to do anymore, and it is driving me crazy.
Thanks.
I noticed this behaviour on my Diamond last week. Not sure if it is related but I had similar problems on my old Trinity. When switching between vibrate/silent and normal sound profile Windows would not always register this correctly. Further investigation revealed the the system volume was being updated but the phone/ringer volume stayed at silent. Do you often switch between Silent and Normal?
Never got to the bottom of this on Trinity, although it did improve (happened less often) after I flashed WM6.1 over the original WM5. As there seams to be a silimar issue on Diamond I would guess that its either a WM6.1 problem or something to do with the way that HTC's profile switcher interacts with the OS.
Only thing I can suggest as that next time it happens you check the ringer volume either using the Sounds setting (Settings tab on TouchFlo) if its set to 0% then it may be the same thing.

do you have sound setting on ring THEN vibrate? also to fix your ring lag, try diamond tweak. there is a ring without delay tweak in there.
I have the same problem. I'm on 1.37 ROM - I only noticed it recently. All other sounds play fine, and the speaker volume is correct and it's not on silent or vibrate.
Phone setting is Ring AND vibrate, but trying Ring only doesn't work either.
I'm disappointed with this phone performance though think it's the Touch Flo. I tried a 1.93 but they took out the transitions - no idea if the ring worked then or not - but it was no faster IMO.
For god's sake a phone which never rings is bloody ridiculous!
I wish I kept on the original Orange UK ROM verison....
I like the idea of a hard reset - but have zero confidence it will work. I do know it will take 30 minutes minimum to set up push mail, apps and all the other stuff again.....
I have a similar problem, posted it HERE
Sounds don't work (ring tones and MP3s), I can't hear my dialog partner and they can't hear me. It's very odd. Only switching off the phone helps. I'm very disappointed with the phone's performance.
This issue has been reported before on the Tytn II (running WM6 and WM6.1) so its not a TouchFlo problem - if you search you will see instances of it cropping up all over the place but no 'official' response from anyone or indeed any sure fire fix to stop it happening.
In some instances people are attributing it to using a Bluetooth headset; on others, bluetooth has not been used at all and it has still happened. One of our managers at work had the problem on 3 successive MDA Vario III's (Tytn II) and then has had it again on a Compact IV, all running the stock ROM.
I would suggest it is an issue inherent in Windows Mobile, although it cannot be ruled out that its only in HTC's implementation as I have not heard of it happening on other WM devices. And it is highly intermittant - it would seem that if you have a device susceptible to it, then it will happen no matter what. If you don't, then it probably won't happen ever. So that, in itself, could point to a build/hardware fault affecting certain batches of devices.
I think if you experience this issue AT ALL, then you should return your device under the warranty and demand a replacement, and keep doing so until you get a good one. Until HTC admits there is a problem and does something specifically to resolve it, this is possibly the only option and might actually force them to do something if so many devices are being returned.
By the way, posts suggesting that it might be due to the user having inadvertantly lowered the volume don't help - while peoples input is encouraged, input like that highlights that you have been lucky enough to not suffer the problem. If you had, you would know that it is utterly independent of what the volume level is set to.

Thanks for the advice, but I must go on searching for other solutions; because I bought it in UK and I live in Brazil. That's my problem. It must have other solution.
Nothing to do with the volume

The ring is set Ring AND vibrate. The problem have nothing to do with witch volume the sound is set or the profile. And I rarely set the fone to vibrate only.
oh f**king great! I hadn't realised this was an issue and have not only unlocked my ROM but also flashed to a new ROM from the original!
Does anyone in the UK have an experience of returning a handset on Orange where this happened?
I can't find a UK Orange Diamond ROM anywhere but have flashed the OliNex Radio back to a stock HTC one......

Loving the Diamond... but big issues have come up and they are starting to make it difficult to really use the device. I am trying to determine if the issues I am having are brought on by myself or if the issues are related to some challenge with the phone or my carrier.
"What's the issue," you ask?
The Diamond will not pick up a call. The phone will ring, the caller display will come up, I'll try and pick it up by either pushing the onscreen command or pick it up via the pick-up button... nothing. The call rings through to voicemail. Meanwhile I have to call the person back who just called me. Massively irritating and even more irritating it's does actually pick up SOMETIMES. The problem is I cannot determine why it works sometimes and why it does not. 90% of the time it does not work. When I do get it to work all I need to do is activate my bluetooth headset and then turn it back off and we are back in the same situation where the phone will not answer, however, this time... the phone does not RING either! Yes that's right - all sounds go bye bye on the phone when I activate BT and then turn it off. Also, I cannot pick up the phone with bluetooth headset. I can hear the phone ring through and everything looks dandy but no go! Push the pick-up button - nothing. This isn't such a big deal really - I mean - who cares if it picks up on the BT headset - I just want to be able to answer a call in general!
Now - I do have a lot of applications on the machine from a modifcation perspective and I am thinking this could all very well be my fault. I have Advance Config, Diamond TF3D config, and Diamond Tweak all loaded (each have their own benefit.)
Strange thing is... I just did a test and the phone picks up JUST FINE. I'm about ready to pull my hair out. It's really hard to put my finger on it. Tried it a second time, if I try to answer with the soft key it won't work but the hard key will work. Now the hard key will not actually hang up the call - I have to use the softkey to hang it up. I don't know if anyone is having the same issues but I am to the point of hard-reset to start from scratch.
I actually had the "can't pick up" problem just yesterday, but with my Prophet. Using Pdaviet's MyVista 6.1 Rom and S2U2. The phone rang, S2U2 displaying the full screen call notification, no chance of picking up the call.
Do you also use S2U2?
When you find your self in a hole, it usually helps if you stop digging.
Unpalatable as it might seem, I think with hassles like you've got, a HR is probably your best option.
ps, just a thought, have you at any stage in your tweaking done any button or key re-mapping... either inadvertently or by design? Maybe worth a check before giving up
wow, that's a whole load of issues
I've had my Diamond for about a week now..... and have had none of those issues..... Bluetooth works fine, picking up is a breeze....
what provider are you with?
I remember reading more complaints about sound going bye after Bluetooth use in the early days of the Diamond. Try searching around a bit and see if you can find something. However, seeing your other issues, a hard-reset might not be out of place.
Also, for aesthetics, do note that it is usually considered bad practice to place two identical symbols after each other when masking cursewords with random characters.

By far probably the best advise yet!
The emotional side... aka incredible hulk... came out and punched shift/keyboard number row (pounded rather.) I was thinking in my head, "smash Diamond" and the KB had to take the abuse.
Carrier information for those who asked.
CDMA Diamond on the lovely Telus system (aka - Tel-us, we take your money)
As with all troubleshooting, you need to start from beginning. When you first got the phone, it could answer call. Right? So you need to trace back to what have you done to the phone step by step and to find out when it starts to fail.
Doh... Well I reset the device... seems to work now but something that seemed to be working before was my Zune subscription music from Zune Pass was synching to my mobile device via a Synch Center setup. I was amazed it was actually working... now it's not working So - I get calling back and lose the little trick that was working - Zune Pass DRM music synching with my Diamond... you win some and you lose some I guess doh.

You should do some research and some reading.
And relax a little before you Fire up and disrupt a Community in peace.
I have the same thing going on now... same programs installed as you.
Is it still working after a hard reset? Did you re-install all the same programs?
Well, I'm on a Telus Diamond, and had the no answer problem, and solved it with a hard reset.. just try it, it doesn't take too much to get everything back to the way you had everything..

Phone - No sound from speaker after a of standby

If my diamond is in standby mode for awhile and i make a phone call, i don´t hear anything. I must reset my diamond to use it for a correct phone call. Does someone have the same problem and hopefully have a solution? Thanks!
Do know how long it has to be in standby for? And is it reproducable every time?

It is different: sometimes 15min sometimes 1h. After a reset it works longer but then i have the same problem again. Just now my diamond was in standby for a 1h and didn´t work correctly.
Using the 1.37 and 1.00.25.03
I tried to upgrade to 1.00.25.05 with the offical htc rom upgrade but always said my battery is less 50% and the installation process stops.
And presumably your battery is over 50%?

Just tried before again. But the same less 50% power warning message and stopping installation issue. My power settings told me 100% fully loaded.
Same problem
Same problem here, drives me crazy. I didn't link the problem to the phone being standby though.
I sometimes have it after receiving a message, sometimes after a whole night of inactivity, sometimes not at all after a day...
But in all cases all audio stops and a soft reset is the only solution...

here is maybe solution : tested this morning and no problet yet but it's batter to test more days
SOLUTION
Some users of HTC Touch Diamond, the latest Windows Mobile 6.1-powered Pocket PC Phone, may encounter an obscure and weird problem when receiving SMS (also known as text message) while HTC Touch Diamond device is in StandBy mode with LCD screen powers off.
The symptom may be different from phone to phone, but the following scenario roughly describes the problem that faced by HTC Touch Diamond PPC Phone user. When the phone is in inactive stand by mode with screen off, the phone does not notify owner or user when by ringing ringtone or SMS tone sound or audio alert, nor vibrating the device when there is any incoming text message or SMS message. Only 5-way keypad light is blinking.
Sometimes, the device does play sound or vibrate, but not both together. Only keypad light flashing is confirmed to work properly. Some users also reported that if there is already new existing unread SMS text messages on the Touch Diamond phone, then the audio ring tone sound alert and/or vibration then work properly when there is new incoming SMS message.
The issue can cause HTC Touch Diamond owner to miss some important SMS text messages. It appears that the no audio alert sounds and no vibration (not even a delay trigger) issue after receiving SMS or text message is probably not caused by defective phone device, but caused by specific SIM card for unknown reason, as the issue happens intermittently, and may not happen when changing to different mobile service provider SIM card. One SIM card that been identified is Hong Kong SmartOne SIM card.
For HTC Touch Diamond who facing the no alert been made on incoming SMS while in stand by mode issue, but can’t change the SIM card, here’s a few possible resolutions that may fix the problem.
First of all, make sure that the phone is correctly configured to playback audio or sound alert or vibrating. Go to Start Menu, then select Settings. On Personal tab, tap on Sounds & Notifications, and go to Notifications tab. In the “Event” drop down list, select Messaging: New test message. Verify that either Play sound or Vibrate or both is selected.
On the same screen (Notifications), as a workaround to fix the issue, try to tap to tick the check box for Display message on screen.
If above resolution doesn’t help to make the phone notifies you via sound alert or vibration when receiving text message while in sleep mode, another possible fix is to enable SMS Wake Up Event. To do so, download and install a registry editor on the HTC Touch Diamond Windows Mobile device (such as PHM Registry Editor, see workaround to install PHM on Windows Mobile 6). Navigate to the following registry key branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Locate DisableSMSWakeUpEvent entry, and change its value to 0 (the value is 1 by default).
All else fails, you may have to try to perform a hard reset on the HTC Touch Diamond, and send the device to HTC service center for repair or exchange
Did you document this yourself or find this info somewhere? I would be interested to know where its come from, if possible.

I have the same problem, except that this happen after i use the BT headset profile (all sound output is redirected to bluetooth headset, and it seems that it won't revert back to original profile after you turn off BT profile) :S
at this moment since my tests my diamond is well
no sound problem
4 HOURS and no sound problem !!!
it will be ok if nothing bad until tomorow
well, thats fair enough if you were experiencing the issue normally within that time.
Was that just from enabling the SMS wake up?
That setting can be changed with Diamond Tweak/Advanced Config/TF3D Config if nobody fancies editing the registry by hand.

i let my diamon switched on all night and this morning .... no sound !!!!!!!!
I will return my baby to SAV for reparation, but I don't know how many time i'll waiting and I'm worry about finding the same problem when my phone will be back
I had a feeling this might happen...
I've a new one since yesterday and no problem !!!
I'm very happy
I had to send mine in for repair
Has anybody found a solution for this? My Samsung Blackjack II is constantly experiencing this (although soft resets don't fix it - I have to hard-reset and recover from backup). Any help welcome.
I have same issue but the soft reset does not work. I had Mighty Rom 4.8 on it at the time and so I tried flashing back to Bell stock rom but problem persist. Read somewhere flashing to a 6.5 rom might help but not in my case. I tried Mighty 6 rom with no luck. I still have sound though when I plug in my headphones so I'm thinking the speaker may have just died on me? Might have to reflash to bell stock and relock and return as there doesn't seem to be a fix if there is one yet.

Hardware Buttons (Virus?)

I was browsing the internet with Opera Mini when my just popped up and started to recording my voice. Since then it keep started popping up the voice recorder and keeped recording my voice, and for some reason my hardware buttons don't work anymore(including the keyboard). There is one button that works and that is the action button but for some reason it functions as a windows button(button for popping up the start screen). I tried everything (hard resetting, reflashing etc.) but it still keeps popping up the voice recorder. is this a virus or something? I'm sure it dind't had to do with the site becouse it is a very much used site by WoW players (Allakhazam). So I would be really happy if somebody helps me, I don't want a second broke HTC (R.I.P. my Elf)

i don't think it's a virus simply because hard-resetting or reflashing will get rid of it. It might be a problem with your hardware itself i.e the buttons malfunctioning and not working right.
i really don't know what to suggest to you asides from taking the device to a cellphone repair shop and see what they say.
I think i give up and go to HTC. First I went to a GSM repair shop but they couldn't help me becouse they can't do anything with a HTC (Just like all the others). Later I found out that if I press the camera button, my scroll and arrow buttons work again so I thought it couldn't be something with the hardware. Well I flashed my SPL, ROM and Radio but it didn't work. So I'm going to flash my Kaiser back in original state and bring it to HTC.
It works again!!
IT WORKS!!
For some reason my phone works again. I was sliding my keyboard of my phone when i noticed something. I noticed the screen was for some reason lower to the keyboard. So I started my Kaiser (for the 1xxx time, you'll never know) and it worked again!
EDIT
It doesn't work . I resetted my device de next morning and everyhting was the same again. But I've found a way to stop the voice recorder. I've changed the buttun 6 to none. But that means that buttun 6 is stuck or something but the only problem is I don't know where button 6 is.
Hi I am having very similar symptoms, all buttons except the middle front are not working. When booted the sound recorder starts (I've deactivated that button too).

Lock display while using GPS

Hi,
I'm using my Xperia as mobile navigtion while I'm riding my motorbike. Two days ago I was driving on the highway...when suddenly my music stopped and my device startet a Phonecall (to the last person I called) - this happened THREE TIMES in half a hour! (kinda expensive...)
While I'm using TomTom (or any other GPS software) I cannot turn the keylock in, because then the software won't get any GPS-signal.
Now I wanted to know if anybody knows a registry-string I have to change that GPS would work while I'm using for example TomTom and listening to music and turn the keylock on.
I updated my Rom to R3AA007 few days ago...but with older ROMs it's the same...
As far as i know, most of nav-progs have a lock-while-drive-mode, maybe the tomtom too.
that'S not enough. when you break at a traffic-light, the lock may be removed because it's only active over a defined speed. but when I'm using it with my motorbike, it's in my pocket...and everytime the touch-display could be touched....even if I stop at a traffic light
Looks like we have the same problem. I'm also interested to know how to work around this.
if you don't like to se quickGPS, you could turn your phone off and on again (without entering the pin number....if you leave it off, tomtom tells you, that you are using flight-mode ) but I'd like to use quickGPS...
does nobody have an idea?
perhaps some keywords to search in the regitstry...??
up...perhaps somebody now has got any idea...
keylock is not the problem.
i bet 5$ that u have used the included headset right?
the bulky part where you connect ur earphones is the problem. the tiny switch used for accepting calls is either totaly borked or the connector itself is. i have exact the same problem. i called a mate like 20 times.
i use my phone to listen to music while i drive my motorcycle any my keypad is locked all the time. it doesnt realy matter why prog u are running.
when u press the little button short or long (cant remember) it starts calling the last person on your dial list. somehow this button seem to be pretty sesitive to movements. this also works when the keypad is locked.
so either we buy a new headset or we find teh registry entry which defines the use of this worthless button
