Hi all
I followed the guide on how to install TomTom 5.1 using the 4 cab files. I can now say TomTom works and opens on my MDA III running WM2005.
The problem I am having is since the upgrade to WM2005 I can not get TomTom to pick up a GPS signal from the mouse. I have the official TomTom wired mouse and not bluetooth. I have tried selecting all the avalible com ports but TomTom will not find a GPS signal.
Applogies if this has already been covered but I have tried searching but cant find anything.
Surely I cant be the only one using a wired version so any help on this would be great.
Thanks in advance
Mark
Not too sure about WM5 but on WM2003SE (as I have) have you tried unckecking the "receive incomign Beams" from the Start/Settings/Connections/Beam Screen..?
A Search on the Forums would have picked this answer up - As it did when I originally had the problem with WM2003SE
Cheers!
Thank-you
Yeh i know user error!!
I even had a friend who had this problem on the SPV2000
All woring fine now
Thanks again
Hi all,
I recently instaled WM 6.1 on my Kaiser. Except from some good things there are some bad ones. The worst one is a problem with GPS.
Software I use (IGo and Google Maps) can not detect GPS device.
Any solutions to this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mike
Need more details......

What ROM did you install? Does it or do you have QuickGPS or SeaSGEE installed? What device do you have?

Some ROMs and Radios have compatibility issues.
Quite possibly, it could be GpsGate if you have it output GPS data on the wrong port.
If you have GpsGate, uninstall it, soft reset the phone, and try again.
If you GpsGate isn't the issue, go to Settings -> Connections -> External GPS
and make sure you have "GPS program port" set to COM4.
Come to think of it, my GPS isn't working either Looks like I'm having the same problem as you.
I just solved it right now by doing a hard reset.
Sorry it took mie so long to asnwer but I was out on a trip with no access to info you guys asked for to help me solve my problem,
My device is HTC TyTN II Kaiser, bought not through some GSM company but with oryginal HTC setup (prior to this unlucky upgrade I made).
From Settings -> device information i can read the following info:
ROM version 3.03.405.0 WWE
ROM date 01/08/08
radio version 1.64.06.04
protocol version 25.70.40.02W
I did try to set the external GPS port in
Settings -> sytem -> external GPS (i have it here not in system -> connections)
i used the following settings
I used GPS program port: com4
GPS hardware port: none (when i try to set it to com0 or com1 it just gets changed to none once i close and reopen then window. baud rate 4800
access - anabled manage GPS automaticaly.
I do hope info you guys now have will make it possible for you to sugest some easy way to overcome this problem.
BTW - problem is that tom tom or i-go just do not detect GPS device.
as a supporting software I have Quick GPS which works ok - it downloads latest satelite data with out major problems.
Thanks for help in advance,
Mike

than there has to be something wrong w/ settings somewhere. if u had a faulty gps reciever than quickgps wouldn't work either.
try a hard reset and reinstall the nav programs.

Hi, I had the same problem but with TomTom Navigator on a Kaiser. I tried all setting possibilities but nothing helped. After a hard reset, it was OK with automatic settings, nothing to change. Hope it helps.
hmm i've used both tomtom and igo and havent had any problems...try disabling agps
Thx guys,
Not sure why I did not try it before but after your sugestions I just set all the settings to factory and it started working for both software.
I feel a bit stupid, sorry to waste your time and thx for help,
Mike
Hey All
i have a problem with me GPS
i just bought my new TyTn II from egypt and they are disable GPS i cant find GPS setting or connect to it throught any gps program.
when i try to use any of those programs it tells me that their is now GPS device connected
i think they block the GPS by the software i notice that from the registry
a DWARD called EnableGPS was set to 0
so i turn it to 1
and also try to update the ROM with WM 6.1 i download it from HTC.com it work good and the only new thing that happen about GPS is that the quickGPS ,but when i click download it go for a long connecting
I dont know what to do else to make that GPS work
PLZ HELP
I believe that Egypt (and most Arab countries), have banned the use of GPS for obvious reasons. It's a pity, but there you have it. The device should still pick up a GPS signal if it is enabled. It should be set for Com 4 and 4800 baud. You can try a freeware GPS app like noniplot.
hey man am from egypt and i got a tytn II
you have to change the ROM you can install any ROM you want to because in Egypt they disable the GPS from the ROM
and you can also download the original ROM and if you want the maps and programs send me a private message and i will send them to you
have fun and congratulations for the tytn II
enjoy
i dunno if you are up to it, but try flashing a new ROM, that should take care of it, as the problems you are facing are usually caused by software limits set in the Egypt ROM.

I have HTC TYTN II , my GPS didn't work till in install the GPSGate to my ppc , i was using ver 2.5 and now 2.6.
when first install , he asked to make soft reset so it can download thee driver first . and it was working so perfect .
Till i dont know what happened suddenly every time i try to open GPSGate he asked me to make soft reset and i try this 100 times but nothing happened . i can see the GPS is working but can't open the virtual port com1 so can the GPS programs use it as before..
I reinstall the program allots of times . but till now i can't open the GPS
How can i fix this problem? i do need to re use the GPS again .
from the first place i dont know why my GPS not working in the normal way also if you have idea of this to tell me..
Backup your settings and files and try to do a hardreset, maybe that will help.
