I just discovered that my XDA IIs (WM6.1) got a Device Lock (i think it's part of SPB Shell) a couple of days ago. Just today it refuses to unlock even if i entered the right password.
I already tried soft reset & hard reset but i still can't get pass the device lock.
I'm an experienced PC user but a complete novice in Windows Mobile!
My unit's now completely useless.
Is there a way to bypass the device lock and/or disable it?
If i need to reflash please tell me how.
Please help.
that is an old issue. cooked roms should not be used with a password lock. it has nothing to do with spb mobile shell, or it would be gone after a hard reset. you permanently locked your device now!
no reset will help you, the only option you have is flash a new rom, well, or re-flash the same rom.
the way to do that is to go to the -=wiki wizzard=- and follow the steps there, don't skip anything, and you'll be fine. and maybe you wouldn't wanna set a password that time.

I am using the Helmi build. Trying to reflash it due to a problem with vista actually syncing. Helmi is already on the device, but now I cannot hard reset the phone. Power+Record+Reset does not put the phone in bootloader mode. I cannot hard reset the phone at all. Just soft reset. is this because the phone needs to be unlocked again? I cannot seem to find that app on the phone anymore. Is there anywhre i can get this app?
The hard-reset procedure is different for WM2005.
Hold down the camera, voice note and power buttons while resetting with the stylus.

Hello all,
I've tried about 3 or 4 updating of Blue angel on my O2 XDA III but no one works on it and I've updating the ROM to 1,15 but therefore no working .
Plz I wanna get the suitable Updating to WM 6 or WM 6.1, which I can fix on XDA III without problems .....
You have to be more descriptive...
What did you try?
What directions did you follow?
What ROM did you attempt to flash?
What errors appeared when the flash failed?
Are you using XP, Vista, or something else?
What is on the phone right now? 2003 or 5?
I tried to update my O2 xda IIi with WM6.5.5_23529_eng, the process finished successfully but i am not able to restart my device. Please guide me what to do...

Resetting Your Pocket PC Phone
Resetting Your Pocket PC Phone
You can perform a soft reset or a full reset. During a soft reset, the Pocket PC Phone is restarted and only some data in opened programs may be lost. However, a full reset turns the battery off, returns the device to its original factory settings, and deletes all programs, files, contacts, and other information you have saved to the device. Therefore, it is extremely important to back up data to a storage card or your computer on a regular basis in the event that a full reset has to be performed.
To perform a soft reset:
If your Pocket PC Phone responds slowly, stops responding, or freezes, you can soft reset it. A soft reset causes the Pocket PC Phone to restart and re-adjust memory allocation.
Unsaved data in any opened applications may be lost. Use the stylus to press and hold the Reset button, as shown below.
I bought a VPA Compact V a couple months ago to replace my Orange M700 and LOVE it.
Unfortunately Last Night I was playing with password features, and created a password by mistake. I've tried to remember what I typed in and was told it was not valid and asked for my password again! There is an option to reset your password but it is grayed out!
So I called up Vodaphone and they walked me through a hard reset (which I could not do for some reason, instead of getting the white screen, I always get the standard vodaphone one)
After a few attempts they told be I'd just have to return it to and be without phone for up to three weeks which is outreagous! I have had NO issues before this time and really need my kaiser for work. I know I am risking a public scalding and accusations of being a thief but I can assure you I am legit (I've got the bills to prove it!), but given my low post count I can see why you may have your doubts.
I don't really want to do a hard reset if I don't have to, but I think that it is my only choice. My old M2000 (blue angel) looses data if the battery is not in, can I do a similar thing with the kasier?
Thanks in advance,
WWWeed.........
does anyone know if WM6 prevents you from hard-resetting while the device is requesting a password?
Did you follow the steps in the wiki to do a hard reset with just the hard keys on the phone?
You should be able to use the "Clear Storage" icon in the settings without having to know the password if I remember well. That triggers a Hard reset too. But I'd just go with the hard key method too, only takes a couple of seconds...
The Kaiser will not lose any of its memory if you remove the battery.
At this point, you have 2 options. The first is to perform a hard reset; the process is documented in the Kaiser Wiki. Your second option is to download the OEM ROM that your phone shipped with, enter bootloader manually (also in the Wiki) and reflash the device. Either way, you will lose any data not on an SD card.

Yes I did, but instead of getting the white screen asking me if I want to clear the storage, I get the standard vodaphone splash screen

I have a problem with this, I cant find the rom installed on this device. I have tryed 3.08.161.0 (Radio 1.64.08.21) UK Vodafone that can found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365058
however the device starts to flash, gets to 1% and gives me an error (error 294: invalid vendor id)
Does WM6 prevent you from performing a hard reset while asking for a password?
Can I install any of the spl's on this site (so I can flash another rom) with just the bootloader? or is there any way of installing roms without using active sync?
Thanks again guys for your help! I assure you it is much appreciated!
I found a rom that works! Unfornatly I dont know much about it. The name of it is v1615_3.28.161.1.zip
I've uploaded it to rapidshare Here
It is an offical untouched rom from vodaphone directly.

You might not be holding the 2 keys long enough. You need to hold them for several seconds after you pressed the reset button.

It can't, the button method does the job before WM6 would get loaded.
But I guess if you've been able to flash you shouldn't need the advice anyway. Still, you should do a hard reset after flashing to be sure all previous and/or incionsistent settings are cleared.
Hold the two soft keys then poke the soft reset button with the stylus while holding the soft keys - hold them until you see a new screen, make sure they are fully pressed. then a while screen will come up and you press the "send" key to go through with the hard reset (reset to factory settings).
hi new to all this pda stuff, canany one help me!!!!!
i have been given a pda alpine, but it is locked with a program i carn`t get it to go into windows.
what is the best way way to get rid of this software?????
thanks
i assume you have tried hard resetting and then soft resetting once the HR has finished, in the wee 3 second window where it says customising.
Other suggestion would be to flash a new ROM.
big thanks!!!!!!
i said i was a newbii
ok i can start now, i have windows mobile on, ok whats next for me to do?????
how can i get rid of all that old software ??????
What sort of old software do you want to remove?
A hard reset should only leave you with whatever the carrier has decided to give you. If you do the soft reset trick you should be able to remove any carrier specific customisations leaving you with a bare(ish) Alpine. What you load after that is up to you.
ok so the software that was on when you started up the system has now gone???
i just have windows mobile on now when i start it up.
also i used the unlocker wizard, and it said it had unlocked, but i now have a no network ! mark instead of a strength signal???
any ideas please
Which version of the unlocker did you use? i had more luck with the older version. It sounds as though it hasn't worked, despite saying it had. From memory it does take a while to complete. Have you tried it with any SIM apart from your own one?
i used ver 1.6
and yes tryed it with 2 other sims, but still no luck they both the same.
is there anyway to reformat these pda`s start a fresh as they say
i said iam new
Yup, that's the newer version, i used version 1.5, SIM unlock.
Mobile Vista Seadragon by ansar
R 1.65.16.25
G 25.83.40.02H
D 3.34.0....
I have recently unlocked my tilt and I have ran into some weird issues
1. Cannot connect to Active Sync
2. Cannot install cab files (always unsuccessful)
3. Cannot delete rename or edit ANY files unless throught microsoft office.
4. Cannot hard reset or reach bootloader via hard keys. Hard reset makes the send screen come up but the phone key nor any other key works
All these probles came after I installed FingerKeyb-2.1-QVGA
Anyone know of a solution to revert back or reflash to any other rom. I am all out of guesses as to what has happened.
Thanks in advance

Flash back to your stock and then a custom. Avoid then to install the program fingerkeyb
How will I flash back when Active sync will not connect?
EDIT: I connect the phone and it asks to active sync or internet share. I select active sync and then the phone loads active sync on the pc and then an error occurs. Sometimes saying "error" on the windows mobile device center and sometimes saying in so many words that the usb connection was not successful on my phone screen

Flash via sdcard
OK... I will give that a go again when I study over the tutorial a little bit more. I have not been able to get to bootloader via the hard keys. It just boots back to the OS as if the keys are not pressed. I have made sure the power and camera buttons fuction while the OS is running but for some reason they act as if the are not mapped during the Hardreset procedure. Seems like I am stuck. The Bootloader.cab will not work because no .cab will install.
EDIT: As I figured... NOTHING.... Any more ideas... Thanks for the help so far.
Is there a way to "unpack" a .cab and maybe initiate it manually? That will provide an answer to my bootloader.cab and that will get me on track
Problem Solved: I installed the bootloader app from the Kaiser rom on the official site by using winrar and transfered the app to a microsd using another phone and then transfered the card to the Tilt and initiated bootloader. I should be safe to flash from here.
