Hey I tried to unlock my HTC touch diamond with an unlocking software. In the process the cell phone suddenly turned off and now it is not working at all. Not turning on .. even not charging up the battery. In short look like no sign of life in the mobile phone. I tried every thing nothing work. I do have the warranty but dont have the reciept.
What can i do with this situation . any ideas how can i atleast make the phone start??? you exeriences and ideas??
thanls
sooo, you used the unlocker from ppcgeeks, which is fr cdma phones (and I'm not sure it its unlocking anything at all). Anyway - the only way to fix it is to send it to the service centre. If the phone is still on guarantee, there's big chance, that they will not be able to boot it, and replace the mainboard.
Good luck!
what if i dont have the recipt? no proof of purchase... i bought it from a friend and he lost the recipt for it . I know the fone has atleast 4 months warranty left .. but what else i should do.. again thanks for the reply ..
You're SOL buddy.
Exact same thing happened to me about 6 weeks after I bought my Diamond. Cost me $130 on the insurance claim to get a new one.
Obviously I haven't tried it a second time....
why u paid 130$ if you had insurance???
It was an insurance claim, not a warranty claim, and therefore I'm responsible for part of the replacement cost....sort of like the deductible for your medical or car insurance.

Sorry but I think your phone is bricked =[ Try calling T-mobile and tell them you dropped your phone and broke it. (You might actually want to do this, lol) They'll send you a replacement if you still have the warranty

thanks you for your rapid ask, but i sure , exist a solution for the brick.
my phoneis not guaranteed because I bought it used
SNIFFF
There's no current solution for a brick. A brick is a brick and you're done. Sorry
I had the same issued as you are having i was also stuck on the t-mobile logo screen because of the radio update, and yes my phone got brick. but since i had insurance on the phone i took it to my local t-mobile made up some excuse that my phone stop working and they gave me a brand new one in store for free. gotta love the extra at 5 dollars you pay for insurance saved me from buying a new one lol.
Yup, you've got a brick. Most common brick actually, downgrading radio 9/10 times seems to leed to a brick. Currently there are no working fixes. There are rumors that either a serial->USB cable might help fix a brick or wiring up a jtag setup. There's info about both on the interwebs but neither has been proven to work on the dream yet afaik.
Here is my question. What were you doing before the brick happened? By chance did you install the special spl?

This is horeible advice you never want to tell them you droped the phone, that's not covered under warranty. Just tell them the phone won't boot. But yeah sound like your phone is fubar.

How is it bad advice? Hardware problems are covered by warranty, software are not. the brick is a SOFTWARE problem. T-Mobile does not give replacement g1s that are screwed up because of something you installed that wasn't issued by T-Mobile themself. If you tell them you dropped it , its a HARDWARE problem and they provide replacements...

Telling them you dropped the phone and it no longer boots is your problem and they will say so. "Was it working before you dropped it?" Yes it was "Then it soulds like when "YOU" dropped the phone you messed it up" Hope you have the phone insurance that's the only way you are most likely going to get a new one but it's going to cost you.
While it's a software problem if you drop the phone and break it they do not have to replace it.

Oh god, fine then. You come up with a better story and post back I don't understand your last sentence...In the official tmobile g1 forums they state that they are not responsible for anything you do software wise to your phone ( root, ROMs, spl, brick, etc..)

simple The OTA got to you for cupcake and you went to install it when the phone rebooted it was stuck at the G1 screen. they will walk you through a few steps and confirm it's messed up. At that point they will send you out a replacement. You do not have to say anything about it being rooted. I just did this for my friends moms phone. He messed it up I called and got her a replacement sent. Now if you are not a T-mo customer you are out of luck though which sucks :/
Hell I had to do this for 2 phones. 1 G1 and 1 Shadow this past week (both phones were modded by me/friend) Shadow was a true hardware issue though and not the mods fault though.
just tell them your phone wont boot up if you cant get to recovery or android screen neither can they on your phone so they will never know what u did to it

Lol okay then. Still think that if you report a hardware issue like you broke it, T-Mobile will still replace it as long as you still have the 1 year warranty that came with it. Like Cyanogen's issue where his touchscreen was messedup. HARDWAREE issue and T-Mobile replaced it

I work for T-mobile and telling them you broke the hardware on the phone is NOT covered under warranty. The manufacture's warranty only covers phone defects not people dropping their phone. A touch screen going out is an example of hardware covered under warranty. Software is covered under warranty as well and all you have to say is the phone won't boot past the G1 screen. Thats all you have to say.
All right. I rest my case then O mighty T-Mobile worker. No sarcasm haha.
Yeah its true, you do have to be careful if you plan on using the warranty route if its not totally legit, but then I suppose it differs depending on region. Over here in the UK it covers quite a few things like accidental dropping of the mobile, water damage etc. Which reminds me, I need to add my mobile to my monthly insurance policy...
The insurance isn't really worth it =/ Even if you claim it you still have to pay 130$ here in NY
Blimey... I pay £6/m (thanks to my credit card policies) instead of the usual £9/m that covers the mobile phone over accidental damage, theft, water damage, software damage etc. However if I do make a claim I think its £30-£40 for a replacement G1.
HELP! Is my g1 bricked?
After reading a few other thread I believe my g1 is bricked.
I was trying to install Superhero G3. After installing the radio provided in this thread:
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f56/official-hero-g3-build-rom-18471/
My phone hung at the T-Mobile g1 boot logo.
I can't get into recovery or anything.
I bought the phone from craigslist, so I don't have a warranty or anything. My parents would kill me if they found out I have to buy myself a new phone.
PLEASE I hope there is something I can do to fix this.
my sprint htc hero needs a new motherboard only because the usb is completely damaged from the outside only. It is rooted. Once the new motherboard is in, will I still have root? what should I expect when I turn the phone on for the first time?

You can replace a motherboard but can't handle root?
replacing the motherbord shouldnt affect the actual software so yes im pretty sure you will still be rooted.
to be honest though i would just get a new phone because i know motheboards arnt cheap.
well, I did get a new phone a while ago. got the evo 4g. but this hero just keeps bugging me, so kind of more for fun, I want to give this a go. I already ordered the motherboard on ebay. 30 bucks plus shipping. I saw a video on youtube and replacing it looks fairly simple. It is going to take a couple of weeks for it to get here, but will post back and let you know how it turns out.

No, you will need to root again. The android software is stored of the motherboard. So putting in a new one will be like getting a new phone, minus new parts on the outside.
If the motherboard you bought is used, then whatever the previous user had on it, then that's what you would find. Hope this helps.

ha proved me wrong lol. either way rooting shouldnt be a problem just z4 that bad boy and itll be up and running in no time
ah, that makes sense now. well it is a new motherboard. found two sellers on ebay both of which have a small supply for 30 bucks each. okay so I start over once I have it. many thanks
I know it has been a while, but just to finalize, got this hero working like a charm. changing the mother board was the easy part. the trick was finding the right sprint store that would get msl code and make everything match up between the new mother board and the phone. they have to actually change codes in their data base or you will not get service.
Damn, you should have asked -- I have a couple extra heroes from friends who move on.
wow, thanks. You know it was one of those things that you brake and get some redemption when you fix it.

Hi
yesterday i sent my htc M7 for a repair after the motherboard died or something like that.
the phone just stopped working , will not turn on or charge with no reason, 2 months old, bought it in January and few days ago stopped working at all.
so the guys at the lab told me it needed a new board - which mean they will need to totally open it.
the main question is - do you think the phone will return a fully and scratchless?
i kept mine totally clean from scratches or dents - i even took pictures of it before sending it.
from what i know its almost impossible to fix it without ruining something els..thats what im afraid of.
mine is in RED color - and in Israel they sell only the Silver (got mine from a store that got it from Malaysa).
did anyone experienced any trouble with HTC technical support?
Thank you.

My red One went for a camera repair. They sent it in a better condition than what I sent it in
They had polished it, etc.
No, they're experts in this. The phone ideally wont be damaged by HTC Service Centre
dont worry man , my red htc one went in repair too, motherboard died too, flashing summat wrong lol, they gave it back in top condition , not one scratch man , best of luk
They have a special machine that opens these phones without damaging it. Apparently. Personally, I believe that they just send you a new phone because mine came back with a different IMEI number for a problem that had nothing to do with the motherboard.

Like the guy above me said, they have a tool to open it. Plus it's HTC, not the repair shop down the street. I would trust that they take the utmost care in fixing your product. Any company is supposed to do that. They made the phone, they can disassemble it with ease. You're worried because you saw these stupid people who try to disassemble their phones in ridiculous ways. They have a tool, dint worry
Thank you guys for the fast replies.
i've never had a situation when i needed the repair service before, but there is always a first time.
i'll post back when ill get the phone, hope it will be as good as new
Hi everyone,
as some of you know, I did a stupid thing (flashed wrong hboot) and bricked my phone. I have a friend who can solve this problem for me with JTAG RIFFBOX, but my phone is still under warranty.
When and IF I send my phone for warranty to an official HTC service center, what are my chances that they repair the phone if I just say it died for example during software upgrade?
Thanks
lottery mate..

I am feeling lucky!
Depends on country/replace center/staff. So it is really like a lottery
Also, a JTAG will open up the phone to the extent of physical damage, if you get turned down from HTC Warranty THEN go with JTAG.. however even then JTAG is known to cause problems for network lock/etc..
I have packed up my phone and sent it up for a repair. It is not physically damaged or serviced by 3rd party, so we will see what happens
Usually if a phone is completely nonresponsive, as it would be here, they will just replace the motherboard and be done with it.

This phone actually has faulty camera ("pink" syndrome). They have told me that they do not replace camera modules, but whole phone.
However, in the meantime, I bricked it

I did the same... I had just the pink camera and haven't send to repair and now it's bricked. No choice.
Is your phone under warranty? Did you send it for a repair?
Just to update you...
My phone was repaired and is sent back to me.
It also had "purple camera" problem, but they only replaced camera (not the whole phone). But OK. I suppose I will get new 24 month warranty because they replaced mainboard.
