G1 drivers - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have tried installing and uninstalling drivers for my g1, i have pretty much determined that the problem that i am having about the g1 preparing the sd card right after mounting. I need to Install the drivers that correspond with the g1. How do i go about doing this because i cannot locate where to update the driver because i do not know which one is which. Help would be appreciated.

uh you must make more senseish huh? (Please clarify your question, it makes little sense and is very obtuse.)

Please post the following...
*what OS are you running. (Win XP/Vista/Win 7)
*What drivers have you installed
Since you have SPL 1.33.2005, you need to install the updated driver:

Win7 + Shift - Touch Screen Probs - tried lots of things...

Hi all,
Was just wanting some input on how I can get this touchscreen working in Win7.
I guess it must be a problem with the version of Windows 7 I downloaded, you can see it here:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5043679/Windows_7_Ultimate_AIO_Activated
It's the most popular distribution on TPB so I thought it would be pretty decent..
Any ideas how I can get the touchscreen working without downloading a new windows distribution? I live in a 3rd world country where it's a nightmare to download large files!
I've tried multiple things, clean install, upgrade, installing the EC drivers/touchscreen drivers/chipset drivers in different orders, no luck!
A couple of interesting notes:
- The VGA driver install failes "Could not copy file" on the 2nd file
- When installing the touchscreen drivers, 3 DOS boxes come up with various error messages (one of them looks like TSASS.EXE, could not be found).
I guess I should try this one:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5111645/Microsoft.Windows.7.ULTIMATE.x86.OEM.DVD-BIE
Any input greatly appreciated!
Alex
Well, if you had a legal Windows version, you could try to install all the drivers offered by HTC on their main website, take carre to install them in the correct order.
Then, it is very advisable to install your Windows 7 whilst connected to the internet,
many drivers like video, sd cardbus, your Ethernet USB hub, Builtin camera.... have driver updates straight from Windows Update.
Although it's nice to be honest, some things are rather kept private.
Considering that you only have 2 posts, here's some tips :
1 - always use search function - drill down to the forum you wan to search, then enter something like Touchscreen, Windows 7
2 - Never claim you are doing illegal stuff, even if you aren't doing illegal stuff.
3 - Tell people what you have tried to do to solve your problem, ike :
I opened up my device manager and saw a lot of yellow exlamation marks.
It will help us asses your skills and adapt our answers....
Hey Lucid,
Thanks for your answer...
In response, I must have spent around 3 hours going through all the posts relating to W7 on the Shift.
In conclusion I found a few things:
- There were multiple recommended methods to install the divers, mostly revolving around the order in which to install them. In other words there was no best practice
- A couple of people had similar problems but there didn't seem to be any conclusive result, other than the one guy who ended up going back to Vista
- As for what I've tried:
--- Installing via clean install
--- Installing via upgrade
--- Installing EC drivers first, then touchscreen drivers, & vice versa, on both the upgraded & clean W7 installs
--- Installing chipset drivers first then after on both installs.
No joy!
Is the touchscreen confirmed to work on all builds of W7 or are there some sneeky ones out there that don't work?
What is the latest & greatest version that is confirmed to work?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
If you look at my posts you will see that there is hope for Win7 on shift. I've installed the official version and the touch screen works. The only problem is with Aero on the higher resolution. I did follow the driver installation sequence mentioned elsewhere with compatibility with Vista don't forget, otherwise it will either not install at all or give error messages. Do not cut corners. Be good and follow the instructions. Obey! Now!
Hello my dear Wovens,
In fact, I'm quite sure I read most of your posts at least once, including the ones you made in response to the other guy with touchscreen problems.
I also followed your instructions as best I could, no luck.
Right now I have basically updated Windows Vista completely from Windows Update (last time I didn't do a Windows Update, except for service pack 1), so should I try reinstalling W7? Exactly which version did you use?
Thanks for the help, I thought I was done with the curse of Vista until I got this SHIFT... Dying to get W7 on there!
Bye for now,
Alex
Hi aaazzi,
To answer your question about which version I have in my shift, I first had W7 RC of June/2009 in the shift as an upgrade from Vista and it worked well but now I have W7 Professional (official) but I could not go from the RC to the Pro as an upgrade, I had to do a fresh install because Win would not allow to go from one to the other, maybe because the RC I had was higher than the Pro.
I have tried exactly the same as aaazzi and am getting the same errors. I can get the vga drivers to install by manually installing from device manager, which means I get the correct version. But the EC drivers don't seem to install properly, they certainly don't look the same as the readme included in the folder.
I've made sure that they are installed with compatibility mode (I've now tried all vista versions and XP) no joy. Everything else works, except the touchscreen which is a bit of a show stopper for me even though the device works perfectly on 7 in every other respect.
Don't use the automatic VGA driver (newer) that is found by Win7. Go to device manager and force install the one listed in the HTC website. Just do it! Then install the EC drivers and after that THE TOUCH driver!
yep done that, I'm currently using the 7.14.10.1461 drivers, I installed the EC drivers which appear as HTC Embedded Controller and the touchscreen drivers which unpacks into a temp folder and says it's installed from there. (I have also tried going into the temp folder it extracted to and setting the compatibility and admin settings to the correct values)
No matter what I do I can't get the drivers to appear in device manager, I don't know if this is because the EC driver I get has a different name to the one specified in the included readme.
In the readme it's saying to look for HTC Clio EC Controller V0.0.1.1
I get HTC Embedded Controller
I assumed that the readme is from an earlier version of the drivers especially as it's using an RC version of Vista but that could be it, what is the driver called on your version?
I've got an HTC Embedded Controller 1.0.1.10 of 13/03/2008.
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I think I'll wait for the release version on 7. Might try to install Linux in the meantime, at least I can control what it's doing a bit better.

hi, im trying to install drivers for android in XP there are plenty drivers and guides here. so now i really dont know which one install. i got latest hardspl, dwang-v1.10 rom, g1.
there are drivers in
- SDK\usbdrivers\

http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip
then updated driver
http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/usb_driver_updated.zip
so wich one choose, and then phone online state: install driver? if so which one?
bootloader? fastboot which one install?
i doing this because im trying to connect in bootloader mode. phone says fastboot usb i can see my phone in device manager installed fine but no adb devices or fastboot devices.
thanks for help.
There is a newer SPL that has additional keypresses for rebooting the phone, as well as progress indicators while flashing. It is located here
If you use the above SPL you will need new drivers for Windows. They are located here

The 'updated' driver is only for 1.33.2005 SPL, not Hard SPL.
Use the first one.

Messed up BIOS? Devices not correctly installed in WIN 7!

Hi guys!
I have a big problem. Yesterday I installed Windows 7 on my Shift 9500 according to this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=590009
Everything went smooth and I got everything to work except the 2 buttons above the mousepad. I tried everything but I could not get them to work.
I did also update my BIOS to be able to install the BIOS activation according to this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542397
After that I decided to re-install everything and start from the beginning. Then the problems started. When I install the graphics driver, Im not able to get a higher resolution higher then 800x640 or 640x480!! Im have tried everything, with Aero, without Aero, load another driver but nothing works!!
Everything else is OK, mousepad, touchscreen etc...
I have a feeling that the BIOS is screwed?? When I check in devicemanager I have a feeling that there are some new names in it, like the BIOS would not present the correct devices for the operating system.
Is there anyone who might have a solution? I have tried to update the BIOS with the HTC Stock BIOS but is says its the same version I already have installed.
Is there anyone who can provide me with a new stock BIOS? (EU version, swedish keyboard)
Many thanks in advance!
/ Andreas
Did u backed up ur old bios? It seems ur device is flashed with unofficial bios which is too risky for different version of machine. my suggestion is reinstall win7, install all drivers in correct order with vista compatibility except vga driver which u need to get an updated one from intel site. use windows update driver with coutious (make sure system protection is on before updating driver using windows update especially the camera driver). there are lot more ways to get full activated win7 other than flashing bios.
[edit] : we still have pof or cmonex for hope

I cant RUU :(

Running Win7, HTC Sync installed and a NEW Hero with .6. According to all i read I need to RUU to the .5 version, I try, I follow the instruction but keep getting a USB connection error when it is looking for the boot loader...UGH, I need help. Im on Gtalk at jwkoppe...thanx
Is your phone showing in adb .... adb devices.
It sounds like your usb driver is not setup correctly, wi7 seems to have an issue with this.

[Q] Old HD7 need face lift.

Hi guys I found out that apparently I still have my old HD7 and if possible just a few questions. I deal with android stuf fand have 0 understanding about Windows but I am sure you guys can help me out. My question really on is there a root or jb needed to install cfw and in general what is available cause I don't really see ROMs like I see in my SGS3 section.
So if possible instructions on how to root following HD7 , and I think my sw and rom is really old ... here are specs I hope it's not too old yet usually old rom means better "crackability"
OS Version 7.0.7004.0
Firmware revision number 2250.09.12001.531
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio Software: 5.51.09.11a_22.31.50.09U
Radio hardware version A.12.0.D4
Bootloader version 1.20.2250.0(111584)
Chip SOC version 2.2.5.0
I can believe I just wrote all this numbers
Anyhow just a hint what people prefer to use cfw wise ...like with sgs3 people like CM10 ....thanks is there cm for hd7 ?
Thank you guys !
Hi,
Yes you can unlock the HD7 and flash custom roms and there are plenty of them available.
There are no CM version roms for the HD7 though but there are some really cool custom OS 7.8 roms and are the most current available, that allow you to customize the size of the home screen tiles...like WP8 with the new start screen. With a custom rom you can, gain root access to the device, install/sideload unlimited homebrew/xap's to the device through a pre-installed xap installer on the device with IE, and much more.
And your right, the older rom/Firmware is easier to crack...and because your bootloader version is 1.20, you won't have to downgrade the devices SPL at all which is the hardest part of unlocking the device.
So all you have to do for your device is -
1a. Make sure you have Windows Mobile Device Center installed for Vista/7 PC or ActiveSync for Windows XP. Connect the device to the PC and allow the Qualcomm drivers to install. This allows for the PC to communicate with the device and install XSPL and flash a custom rom.
1b. Install XSPL (RSPL/HSPL) to the device. (Which is required to install a custom rom)
2. Flash a custom rom of your choice.
Just follow Shadows tutorial from step 17 and on. Download and install XSPL -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068
I would recommend to read through the XSPL post and make sure that you understand the process as not to damage the device.
Take a look at the rom in my signature for the HD7....it's great and the one that I use.
This is a great rom for the HD7 too -

Thank you very much for your answer. I do have a few questions.
1. Windows Mobile Device Center is designed for W7 Vista and XP right now I am on Windows 8 ( I did download and installed Windows 64 bit version anyway)
2. There are 2 version of same file I see 2 downloadable files DFT_XSPL_WP7FG1 and DFT_XSPL_WP7FG2 yet inside both folders file that I need DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH.exe is the same in both folders (i didn't check md5 but from looks of it it's the same file in both folders)
3. After connecting phone it starting to charge I see no errors, but after launching DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH file and clicking next few times it's saying following error:
[Error Description]:
Please make sure that your device connected to computer.
also make sure that right drivers are installed (they comes with WMDC / AS usually)
Try to connect device to different USB port and also you can try to reboot PC.
[Info]: USBWorkRSPL.cpp (184)
I guess because it's not designed for W8. Now I have a choice to do Windows 7 compatibility and stuff but I'd like to consult with you first. I also have Ubuntu handy if it's possible to do it in there ? If impossible I'll just use my laptop and install windows 7 or xp or whatever needed. OR may be VMware on Windows 8 ? ,,,, Anyhow let me know what is my next move should be.
Once again thank you very much !
---------------- UPDATE ------------------
WHAT a No0B I am. Forgot to go in to Power + VDown mode ...... all worked out just fine I have RSPL3.1.2250.0(119314) instead of SPL Next stop ...flashing I guess
Another update all good with HSPL. On Step 38 of guide you provided, You v8 looks good downloading it atm will report on whole thing.
I also see it's possible to install additional card in to HD7, but in that tri color menu on bottom I saw it said SanDisk SD 16xxxxxx MB is that mean I already have extra card inside or it's just reporting on internal memory that showing as SanDisk SD card ?
ROM Downloaded and extracted.
On step 42 Guide mention that I should use task29 to flash my RUU_signed.nbh yet I do not see it included in guide as download link or in ROM pack however I do see ROMUpdateUtility.exe
I will try to find task29 cause ROMUpdateUtility.exe looks very much like official HTC utility that I guess at this point will not help me at all.
Yeah this is not clear. Task29 is for erasing completely everything on the phone yet it does not allow to select .nbh file. IS there a Task29 that designed for HD7 specifically and is there a separate flashing utility ? I think I'll wait for now for answer cause this is kinda important step I don't want to do something I don't completely understand and that guide needs to be fixed cause if Task29 is not for flashing yet only does first part of erasing everything it should say use Task29 to erase and use so and so to flash your .nbh file.
I'll wait for answer, Thank you !
ALL DONE !
Okay a little confusion was on that step because there is actually a custom wrapper for HD7 of Task29 utility and about it erasing everything, well that correct BUT if you have HD7_RUUWrapper_29.exe and RUU_signed.nbh in same folder it just automatically selects it and flash it to device so there are no prompts to select RUU_signed.nbh it simply flash it ... make sure to start HD7_RUUWrapper_29.exe as administrator.
Well done, thank you. Face-lift is not complete.
Awesome... Glad you got it all figured out and enjoy your new rom!!
I seen in one of your posts that you mentioned upgrading the SD card. This is possible, the SD card is technically a part of the file system once installed, therefore it requires a hard reset when installing the new SD card in the device, which will erase all data and apps.
You have to do some disassembly of the back of the device (it's pretty easy) to access the SD card slot.
Your device has a 16gb SD card already installed. With the bootloader version 3.xxx the device will support up to 32gb SD card. I have one installed in my device.
One thing to consider is that WP devices lock the SD card for security reasons and it cannot be read or used by any device or PC other than some Symbian devices.
These are the only methods to unlock the SD card. Flashing a different rom to the device (like Dynamics 7 Mango version which supports custom cabs) before removing the SD card and using WP7 Cab Sender and the Storage Lock Cab. (this is the method that I used) It's a app/program installed on the device that allows the device to unlock or lock the SD card and then allows the SD card to be used or formatted. The other method is removing the SD card from the device and using a Symbian device to unlock the SD card.
If your interested in upgrading the SD card there is a tutorial here -

Hello once again ! It's been few months sense I installed Deepshining v8 and it works just great. And just want to know if there is anything new out there that I can use. No updates to Deep so I guess development is not that hot anymore. Well thanks a lot for help from before and let me know if anything good is out that I can use instead of Deep 8
Thanks !
