Hey there guys. I have this problem: when I hard reset my qtek, so when it is "brand new", after I do the internet gprs and mms settings, both work perfectly. After I install my programs, the problems begin: I can only SEND mms and not recieve. Only the screen lights up, nothing else. The gprs also starts "kidding": it keeps trying to connect , and after a while it stops and says smth like "cannot connect for unknown reason, bla bla". Only if I soft reset the device t
e gprs will work, but NOT the mms (still cant recieve). I have installed some games and some apps: implus (messenger), netfront, pocket plus, gprs monitor, animated today, zenphonetools (profiles manager) and thats about it. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA of what could cause this problems? And maybe a solution?! THANK YOU!!!
i have the exact same problem with mms receiving. i hope someone out there can provide the answer.
i have the same problem too... someone out there pls help~!
I have a problem witch is similar to this problem:
when someone send an mms, i just receive an sms witch ask me to see it on the net
i wonder is there any Pull technology to actually "pull" those mms i cannot receive....?
Same problem!
are we asking anything wrong?
some one out there pls help us...!
please help!! clustered, can u help?
Once I tried to reinstall MMS app - helped but not for a long time
Run: \Windows\LoadVDisk.exe
Then go and tap: \Extended_ROM\CAB-MMS20020-Alpine-ENU-21DEC04.CAB
Then You may have to update Your MMS setting (not sure);
If some files can not be overwritten- rename them and retry installer (You may delete them after successful install and soft-reset).
Good luck!
P.S. I would like to find the real reason of this problem!
MMS problem
I have exactly the same problem as "leoking3". Manny users think that MMS is anyway useless and too expensive (me too), but this problem is bigger than it seems.
After I send a MMS the connection does not disconnect completely (on todayscreen connectionsymbol still active but ther is no active connection anymore (you can check this in the connectionmanager). I guess the problem is the inbuilt connection manager who has problems to switch between the MMS-modem connection and the GPRS-modem connection. Pressing the red button for 3 sec. and the connection icon switch back.
But sometimes silently the radio part hang up too. This is not visible for the user because on the display everything seems OK (GPRS icon + Networksignal icon show good connection) . You only realice when you want to dial out, or somewone tries to phone you or if you want to connect to the internet (then you get the errormassage: unable to connect, check connectionsettings).
This happens not only during sending or receiving MMS, but also sometimes when you change your location and book in to a new network cell.
I first thought that its a radioproblem, so I updated to 1.04, but still not working well. The problem is that this is not happening all the time and you can not realice when your phone silently stucks.
Maybe this happens to much more ALPINE users than we guess. But maybe they do not realice the problem. Because when somebody tells them that they where not reachable by mobilephone, they may think that this was because of bad network signal when they are on the road.
My symtomes:
GPRS connection, Send/receive SMS + Email and sending MMS - always possible (except somtemes when radio part unvisibly hang up)
But MMS receiving - ony the first time possible after doing a hardreset. When I disconnect the networkconnection or wait for a while the display lights up for 1 sec. immediatly after I sent myself a test MMS but nothing else happens. But I found out that the radio part is tying to receive something (invisible), because I can hear through the loudspeakers of my Desktop- PC the typical noise when a phone connects to a GPRS network during the reciving process. The MMS never arrives in the postbox. I asked my servicprovider to check. They said that their server realiced the MMS transfer and got a feedback that the massage was sent/received correctly.
I think it is not a question about wrong settings. On my Hermes these settings work well. On the Alpine it works, but only once. Also my servicprovider confirmed that. (Allthough I tryed manny different settings too).
Its also not a problem of other external programms.
I tested (not only once) with a complete clean system (Hardreset and not installing any cab´s in the ext. rom except the MMS-cab and no external programms) without afford.
Made Hardreset, and let the system install the complete ext. rom automaticaly, did not install any other software and tested for two days too. Same result.
Tryed with 3 different SIM cards - same result
Removed STK (Simtoolkit programm) from autostart / Softreset - same result
I updated radio to vers. 1.04 - same result
I did not try to change the ROM jet, but i am afraid that this has no sense because other users have the same problem with different ROM´s too.
I´m so curious about the reason, Is it a hardwarebroblem?
Pleeeeees Heeeelp !!!!!!!
P.S.: To fred92150: Your problem seems to be a different one. When servicprovider sent you a sms means that the sms was not able to submit the MMS. Maybe you use wrong Port (usualy use 9201)

I've got all these symptoms
I've got all these symptoms too...
exactly the same!
only can receive mms for once after hard reset!
and the phone silently stucks many times...
i'm sure many alpine users actualy facing the same problem just tat they don't realise it...
pls help! pls help!
anyone facing the same problem???
if u have the solution pls tell us!!
pls help us!!
i already found a solution for the problem...
temporary working for me currently! (i hope it will last!)
i flashed the ROM provide by pug, (THANKS TO PUG)...
i change a bit of the registry and it's now working ok for me!
for the GPRS connections, i added the disconnect and timer for the GPRS Flag.
for the MMS problem i modified the registry:
HKLM\Security\Policies\policies
and change the DWORD value of the 0000100d from "64" to "4095" dec.
i found this registry is actually something to do with PUSH WAP features...
it now working find on my PH10C, i'm able to receive and retrieve MMS and GRPS connection are able to connect and disconnect and then reconnect for many times!(before this it will only allow to connect GPRS for once, i have to soft-reset to reconnect GPRS)
i hope it will help u guys out !
Hi
i am experiencing the similar behaviour, i recieve the notification of the MMS, but when i click to dowload it says cannot download from the server. is this the same thing or do i have a different problem ??
does anyone know how to test the GPRS apn to mayb log the activity incoming to the phone when recieving and MMS?
How can we identify why an MMS is not recieved.
regards
reo
i think u're not the same problem...
try to get the right settings for your GPRS and your MMS...
as long as u can connect to the internet by using GPRS, then ur GPRS settings is ok..
Guys, please go to settings, system, memory, running programs and stop ActiveSync. Bingo! your GPRS connection is working again. Remember of always stop ActiveSync before trying to connect with GPRS.
When ActiveSync is runnig the device assumes that it is the main connection mode at that moment and blocks GPRS.
>connection conflict switching from mms to emails and viceversa
i'm not really sure it's the same problem....
>connection conflict switching from mms to emails and viceversa
(modified from previous version)
Dear All,
emails work fine when i use emails only, and mms work fine if i use only mms,
but each time i send mms and then an email (OR VICEVERSA) and i go back to the first type of message, the software still refers to the last connection and the messages obviously are not sent. So i can use one type of message then the other type, but when i want to use the first message, the connection would use the second message type connection and then i can't sent any: the only solution i have each time is to quick-reset the unit and do all the settings for all the connections from zero (either using the quick auto-configuration file supplied by the distributor or doing the settings manually).
it has always been like that (bought new in jan 2006). according to the distributor everything should work properly as the unit is "perfectly compatible-compliant", so i took it to their service center and few months later they gave it back saying everything is fine... but the problem is still there and the service center has seen the problem is still the same but there's nothing they would do! i can't understand... would you please help me?
please help!
thank you
I think my phone is on its last leg. The screen has just recently become unresponsive. However, the hardware buttons (minus power) and the keyboard all still function.
I would try a reinstall of a new ROM to see if it is a hardware or software issue, but here is my dilemma. I am unable to connect to ActiveSync, so I am unable to get any contacts synced with my desktop and there were several new contacts from my last sync that I don't want to lose.
So, does anyone know of a trick to get the information (PIM is all I care about) off of the device even though ActiveSync isn't working? There is the PIMBackup (v1.9) program that I already had installed, but unfortunately it *requires* taps to activate. D-Pad and/or keyboard navigation does not work, so I can't backup to an SD card.
FYI, I'm using Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU3.5_v1.4.CF2 ROM if that helps.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot make outgoing calls until this is resolved.
I'll try a ROM reflash as a last resort, but I would really like to be able to backup first. I'm even willing to mess around with hardware if people could walk me through it.
why can't you use activesync?
It says it cannot recognize the device. This is a somewhat recent happening, but not direclty related to this failure as that stopped working last week. I made the backup last week and never got around to investigating further.
Unless someone has a really great idea worth waiting for, I'm going to open it up when I get home (no tools small enough at work) and make sure that all of the connections are good. If that doesn't solve it, then I'm going to try reflashing a new ROM. If that doesn't work, then I've got insurance on the device (through Sate Farm) and I'll have to see what my options for repair/replacement are.
Hope it doesn't come down to it, but does anyone have any experience with phone insurance?
Would this work?
I just came across this thread/utility which will dump the entire ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=238945
If I were to dump the rom, could someone with a "working" device upload it and then extract the PIM data (using PimBackup, whatever)? If so, I would be very grateful, heck I might even send some $$$ via PayPal.
Are there any other solutions?
Ok, I just got through disassembling the device and making sure that all of the connections were tight. Still, the touchscreen is unresponsive.
I've got ROM dumps, so if someone would be so kind as to flash those ROMs and extract the PIM data, I would be very appreciative. I don't want to just post the links for everyone to be able to download (since it does contain all of my information). If you would be willing to do this, then I'll give $20 via PayPal or another payment method. Either post here or PM me if you are interested.
Thanks,
Jonathon
have you tryed backup solutions like sprite backup or spb backup ?
I have not. I'm assuming that I would have to use the 2577 trick to install the program. Do you know if you can operate those programs without a touchscreen?
Someone tell me if I am wrong but only copying the file \pim.vol should be sufficient for backing up all PIM data. You can do this with Resco explorer, it can be controlled only with keys I think.

It is getting increasingly temperamental. Do you know if you can extract that from the ROM dump files? If so, can someone at least point me in the right direction as that would be much appreciated.

Have you checked your USB cable, or tried to sync via blue tooth?
I had a similar issue. Every time I'd plug the phone into any computer, it would say that there was an error with the device and would not do anything with it.
It turned out that I had a broken wire in my cable. I replaced that cable with a working one (sacrificed a very old smart media card reader), and I was able to sync it.
From there, it was easy to pull the digitizer settings into a file (found a free program that was designed for people who have vision problems), flash the phone and reset the old settings as my touch screen is cracked and a manual alignment will not work any longer.
Plus, there are 'remote control' programs out there for WM that let you use it, even with a dead touchscreen.
No, I haven't checked the cable but I'll see what i can do. I don't currently have a computer that I can sync with Bluetooth, but I'll see if I can't get that working as well. I've already got 'remote control' programs installed, so if I do manage to get ActiveSync running, then I'll be golden. Thanks for the input.
Does nobody know if you can extract the pim.vol file from the ROM dump?
Just Sharing :
My friend have similar problem. Both of us use BA. Our Solution was :
- My friend have a PIM backup using SPB Backup (exe files)
- I ran the exe file in my BA to get the PIM
- Sync it to my PC and save the PIM with MS Outlook (pst file)
- My friend can open this pst file on his PC
I got it!!!
Here is what I did. Note, you can remap the softkeys to hardware buttons, so at least a few more commands are available.
First, I installed Pim Backup
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1806
Then I installed Resco File Explorer. I was able to put the Pim Backup executable on the storage card and run it without using the touchscreen. I stored the backup on the SD card, then just ran restore on a different device.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Good to hear that you were able to backup, but were you able to do something about the unresponsive touchscreen?
Concerning the touchscreen, I am wondering if it isn't a software issue. It comes and goes, but interestingly enough there are certain things that seem to trigger it more than others. For instance, directly touching the Today screen will almost always lock it up and then nothing responds. However, other applications seem to work fine for brief periods of time.
I have just been swamped and a little hestitant to try reflashing to a new ROM. However, you can still navigate most applications (especialy basic ones) by just mapping the softkeys to hardware buttons and using the d-pad and keyboard.
Has anyone else had a similar problem in that the software was locking up the touchscreen? The only reason (other than being busy) is that if it is hardware then I won't be able to even get past the setup portion. I can't connect via ActiveSync (again making me think it is a software issue), so some types of backups are just not feasible. Oh yeah, I did try a different sync cable and it didn't work as well.
Can anyone help me with this problem i just bought kaiser yesterday but i notice that i cant be able to receive any file transfer from a bluetooth connection.
However i can be able to beam file through bluetooth connection to another phone.
Can anyone help to solve this problem please?
thanks
Please be more specific, in order to get answers to your question. How your problems shows? Could it be just that other devices can not see your Kaiser, if so, then you have to tick checkbox "Make this device visible to other devices" on bluetooth settings.
--
Mika
As per the last post, your device has to be set to 'Visible' in BT settings and if you want your device 'Open' to receive all beams the uncheck the box in BT settings under 'Security'
There is another setting to check.
Under Start\Settings\Connections there is an icon labelled "Beam". Click this and make sure the box labelled "Allow incoming beams" is ticked. (Not sure about the exact wording but it is the only checkbox on the screen.)
And whilst we're on the subject of ticking boxes....
I'm pretty sure the two boxes under the FTP tab in the bluetooth setting need to be ticked aswell...Could there BE anymore boxes to tick for 1 simple operation?!
Similar Issues
I am having similar issues, but a bit more severe. Kaiser wont see my laptop that has a USB bluetooth dongle. It can see my bluetooth headset just fine. But it refuses to see my desktop and my desktop refuses to see it. Any suggestions

This sounds like a problem with your laptop/dongle, if your kaiser is able to see other things...
What rom are you using? I was using alex's rom for a while but he some how removed the ftp tab in the bluetooth settings and I was never able to receive any files. I switched over to sleuth's rom and it fixed all my problems.

It's the same in Dutty's new ROM. The FTP tab is gone, and now I (and a few other people) can't send/receive via bluetooth.
Technical intervention is required here ...
I'm facing the exact same problem with my TyTn 2, but here are some spacifics that require an expert's opinion...
1. The device sends perfectly...
2. When it comes to recieving, here's the low-down:
-I tried sending a pairing req. from my computer (through my BT dongle) & the phone received the req.
-After the pair, the computer sent & the device received (no problem until now)...
-I tried sending another file (from my Nokia 6300) & there was no response from my phone...
-I tried sending from a Nokia 6260, the phone received without even the need to pair!!!
What I want to know is the technical reason for this to happen???
P.S.
Here are the options set on my device:
-Receive all incoming beams (Checked)
-Turn on BT (Checked)
-Make this device visible to other devices (Checked)
-Authentication (Passkey) required (Unchecked)
I think it would be a whole lot easier if you just packed your phone up and sent it to me. I would uh, take care of it for you.
Bluetooth beam fixed
You have to fix bluettooth with this cab

after fixed make soft reset and bingo!!

Thanks alot k101d for the quick response, but as I'm quite skeptical when it comes to messing around with my phone's internal configuration or registry files & so on, I would like to know the source from which you got the .CAB file, & what it exactly does (on the inside of course)...
Many thanks again, dude...
Oh, thanks a lot k101d.
Till today I was so dissapointed with this BT of mine (it costs about 100 €).
It worked !!!
Yo costas2by4AIO,
sorry if I'm gonna be bothering you, but bare with me & my desperate questions...
What exactly were you suffering (concerning BT) from before applying the .CAB file, & what was the result that satisfied you?
Hi Guys,
Need Help......
I am not able to beam more than one file altogether with my HTC tytn II
Please help me to figure out, How can I beam files altogether to other Bluetooth device instead of one by one.
Thanks,

Already tried HTC patchs, but no solution at all.
Tried to download that file, but the link is not availlable. Can someone post the file again or have another solution ?
Hi People, I've been away from PDA's for while, realized the error of my ways and picked-up o2 Stellar at the weekend, the 2nd one in week. Before doing anything I installed WIN 6.1,everything appeared to working fine, until I tried to transfer files from my N95 to the stellar via bluetooth, every time I tried I got the same error 'unable to connect, I can pair with any phone tried 4 different phones today and I can send from my phone to another but can't receive files. I have double checked all my settings they seem to OK so I'm at a loss. Before I take it back for a 3rd has anyone else here had the same problem or know what I'm doing wrong.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

I had a similar problem with a bluetooth dongle.
Start/Settings/Connections/Beam/Recieve all incoming beams. Make sure BT filesharing is turned on the phone (if you fileshare), also make visible. BT can be spotty sometimes and these settings can be reset to default if the phone is reset.

I forgot the setting 'Receive all incoming beams' now that has been set, everything is OK. Thanks
Had the same problem. Set to visible, receive all incoming beams etc. but I could only send, not receive. I solved the problem by activating Bluetooth Explorer and Activate File sharing. Strange since I didn't have this problem with WM 6.0 and BT Explorer deactivated.
Hi all,
I have just purchased a t-mobile ameo and have so far unlocked and upgraded to wm6. I have a BT bluetooth headset which I have linked with my device and is saved as wireless headset BUT when I turn it on, I am asked for a passcode (there isn't one!) and as a result, I can't use it.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Phil
Hi again, you seem to take the same way I went with my Ameo...ROM, BT problems, contacts problems etc. ;-)
The passcode to nearly all BT devices - if not stated otherwise in your headset manual - is 0000, type it in and try.
Under settings/connections/bluetooth there should also be an entry "security" or so which states "authentication (passkey) required", if you turn it off (not recommended), it should work without a passkey.
Hi again Will,
I've checked all that, security is turned off yet it still asks for a passkey when I turn on the headset and try to make a call. When I first connected the headset, I tried 0000 but it is rejected?!?
Oh, while I have you...
I've just installed tomtom 6 and am having a few issues:
1. Tomtom is listed on the today screen but will not load from there
2. it doesn't appear in my programs folder, I have to go to file explorer/my device/program files/navigator/tomtom
is there anyway to make it easier to access? It's not a problem, just a chore.
Is there anyway to get running programs option on the today screen? it was the on the lower left option before I unlocked etc...
Cheers again for your help and patience.
Phil
You should also try 1234.

1. headset: then it should be another passkey, depending on your headset vendor, maybe you can find more help there, sorry.
2. TomTom: seems to me that it wasn't installed properly or maybe you've loaded a Today-skin that doesn't work 100% with it?
...first try to add TomTom by looking in settings/personal?/menus (it should be listed there, otherwise the program is definately not installed properly) perhaps you should then un- and reinstall it (my first TomTom6 worked immediately on a Dell Axim X5)
3. Running programs: are you referring to taskmanager which shows running applications/processes? I'm not sure if it is present in an official ROM (I'm using MichyPrima 5.1), search in programs for it, if its there you can then add it to today or start menu via the settings.
Hey will,
I'll try the new code tomorrow, my "copy" of tomtom looks like it doesn't install correctly so I'll have to try another. When i say running programs, it's the section of memory which tells you which programs are still running in the background.
By the way I'm using spb which has helped with certain customizations.
On a separate note, has anyone tried installing shadow of legend (mmorpg)? I wanna give it a try BUT it either won't copy across or freezes my system.
Cheers Phil
Did you try 1234?
1234 worked!
Thanks bud
