I lost my 3G that I had with a stock ROM. Can I find information about each radio before I flash it? Does it matter what ROM I have on what radio I can use? I am using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562952
AFAIK, every radio does the same: takes care about GSM (and 3G), WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Not sure about FM reception...
I used all from 1.13 to 1.17, and I'm not sure which one is better for me, 1.14 or 1.17.
1.14 has a little less battery consumption, but 1.17 is extremly fast in GPS lock with more power consumption.
So it's best to test radios to see which is best fit for you...

Hi,
I've installed the lastest ROM RADIO v1.46.00.11
My GPS take 5 to 15 min to fix I don't know if is due to the RADIO ROM but I've read somewhere that this version is not the best for France (Europe)
Can someone told me wich one is the more stable for GSM and GPS
thanks
the radiorom is only for the phone not
for gps, wifi or bluetooth

Are you sure.... I've read in a thread in XDA that the GPS depend on the ROM but not the WIFI
i'm curious too.. i thought radio ROM affects gps and bluetooth as well as phone
i'm not 100% but under the impression as there are plenty of pda's around which dont have phone but have gps, wifi and bluetooth

I think that Radio Rom affect GPS too because when I bought my P3600, GPS wasn't enable and I had to upgrade Radio version in order to active the GPS.

Radio is different to ROM.
Anyways, not sure if this would help, but I'm using Radio version 1.46.30.11, I really don't know if Radio has anything to do with GPS reception, but you can try upgrading it to that.
There's also a program out there that's meant to help GPS fix. It's called GPSTest that was posted a few days back. Might want to look that up.
Will post again if i can find it and test it.
And here it is, but not sure if it's a myth or reliable

Now im curious to now what the different Radions do with the phone??
never seen a change log / release note for any radiostack to any device
guess htc dont release them externaly
and a user based opinion vs. writing would
be so individual and biased it would be pointless

GPSTest doesn't help GPS fix. GPS fix is dependant on GPS hardware. The only benefit of GPSTest is that it is a small program, thus it loads faster therefore initialising GPS faster. That's all it does.
That being said. Radio Rom absolutely has an effect on GPS receiver. Do you remember when the Trinity first came out with GPS disabled? Was it not disabled because of conflicts with the 3G radio? So you'll have to find a radio version that works right for you. Personally, the 1.46xxx radios suck ass for me in Canada, so I'm trying out different ones to see which works best.
Has anyone compared gps accuracy between different radio rom versions?
Is there any improvement in newer roms?

I didn't "feel" any changes concerning GPS between the last 3 Radio Roms...
TTF Times are still the same and navigation is still as good/bad as usual...
I have the opposite experience with the radios I tested, my original was 1.38, then I tested 1.46.30.11 and the cold start was much faster now I have 1.50 radio and its seems be even faster then the 1.46 radio, the signal strength is for sure better then 1.38 radio. I use miomap 3.2 in my phone, and its very fast to find the gpssignal. the fastest cold start have been 30sec and warm start a couple of seconds
Updated to 1.50 radio and tomtom cold start took less than a minute so have to say it's a lot faster. Also had no problems so far with 3G using Saunalahti.
What is the best configuration for optimal GPS reception ?
I have a Touch HD with Miri's 7.1 version (23017 build) with Manila 2.5.
Radio 1.09.25.14
My GPS reception lowered considerable since upgrading from original WM6.1 rom.
I have less satellites and it takes much longer to connect to them.
Anyone else have similar issues ?
thanks,
jabax

I dont know if mirri have included a difrent RADIO in hes ROM. But try a diffrent RADIO, it might help. And check youre GPS settings as this might changed when you flashed to a new ROM.
And another thing... This question should be in mirris ROM thread. Mod is gonna lock this tread any time now..
Im from israel and my cellular carrier is Pelephone and i dunno what radio is best for my reception, wf, bt, gps....
can any1 suggest me which radio should i use??
Thnx in advance

this radio works well
hm, that question could only be answered from someone geographically near you, because it depends
what might work for me here could be total disaster for you (slightly exaggerated of course)
with radios you should give it a try and compare signal strength and battery life
my example: I flashed 1.17* w/o getting better reception than with 1.16* radio, but was of the impression my battery drained way faster than before
additional factor: rilphone.dll (or more precisely combo radio + ril)
for comparison:

I think you get the idea even just quoting a very few on the subject
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general, CLOSED
I have learn a LOT with you people, this is my first post as a question?
Why is needed to change the Radio version? for improving reception? or just TROLL the user (AT&T, T-Mobile) so one can't use another carrier when unlocked?
NO, I'm not talking about SIM-Lock, I know what is that, and is not related to the Radio version...
Answer IF you have the answer, because many people here just answer to increase the posting number.
Thanks for your help...
Radios affect the devices signal strength, either positively or negatively and therefore can also affect the devices battery life.
You can flash any of the available radios for the HD7 to your device. No one radio is necessarily better than another, since each device will respond differently due to geographical location and etc...
If you flash a different radio version to your device, try it for a couple days to determine if the signal strength has increased or decreased and if the battery life is better or worse.
I've tried a couple different radio versions and have found that personally Radio version # 5.69.09.29a_22.50.50.21U works the best for my device and is also the recommended radio for Deepshining rom.
The most current radio version is 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U and even though it's the current and up to date radio, my signal strength was weaker using it.
If you do flash a radio use Task 00 to flash it to the device, as this will not perform a hard reset on your device and won't wipe all data and apps.
