hello all
I've been in Suriname the past three weeks for vacation
but when I took my flight, direction of Suriname, I was in a plane wich was very cold by the air conditioner
in the plane all, the time I was busy with my phone ..
On arrival you will be beaten by a heat wave.
I still had my phone in my hand, once off the plane I wanted to turn off airplane mode phone
but when I looked at the device, there is a crack under the screen ..
I have'nt bumped the device to anything get that crack. so my only thought is that the device came across large temperature differences and thus came to be a crack created under the touchscreen ...
I could not find answers to XDA nor on google because I do not know what that thing is the under the touchscreen
plus I ain't very technical with cellphones so don't say that i need to buy a digitizer and lcd from ebay and pull this of that off cut this solder that...
I'm going to try to make a picture of what so far not succeeded because my camera now shows his cures
but it was a great holiday but it costs my phone and maybe even my camera ..
Can anyone tell me what to do i still do have my warranty and all the factures
but will this be covered?
should I call HTC or not if so then someone needs to help me out getting the device all to stock
please help me out here i'm going on vacation in about 2 months and I need this phone with me!
Flash the ROM that came loaded on your phone from the SD card and it should restore your original SPL . You can always check by entering the bootloader to be sure...

hey guys i was out today and got a txt and went to pull my 2 month to the day old diamond out of its holster and it fell about 3 feet to a hard wood floor!!! when i picked the phone up the screen would not turn on! i quickly did a soft reset hoping it would kick the screen on and NO LUCK...... but theres hope.. i can still receive incoming phone calls, and the usb to pc functions fine still!!!! here is the thing, in the 2 months that i have had the phone i have flashed custom roms and all that jazz on the phone . should i re-flash the phone with telus factory rom and do a hard reset on the phone before i bring it in and hope my warranty covers it ???????????? or are there any tips ??????? IMHO i think the ribbon that connects the screen to the phone came undone(I HOPE)
if any of you guys got any ideas or tips im all open for input?
thanks guys and oh ya HAPPY NEW YEAR
Well I too fell in the same situation and there is no other way u'll need to give back to the service center and they will do the rest however don't expect it to be returned after a day or so cause i got mine back after 2 mnths i know i was feelin really lonely without my Diamond..... but anyway they did fer free so i think the warranty covers it... tht shud sum gud news fer u in the year 2009....
Even worse, its a MDA Compact V.
Basically, I got the newton rings issue a few months ago and after reading threads on here, tried the duct tape trick which worked a treat....for about a month.
Then the issue came back of the screen not responding, so I continually used the tape to fix the screen. It got to the point where I had done it that many times, I was having to carry a roll of tape around with me, and the front of the front facia began to lift on the left hand side of the phone each time I did it.
It got to the point where I didnt need the tape anymore, I could just use my fingernail to pull the layers apart which would make the screen respond again.
However, recently I noticed a spec of dust under the screen. I put up with it for a while but last week I decided to try and get it out.
I stupidly lifted the layers apart and blew into the phone. This caused the touchscreen to behave very erratically and did not move the dust.
I was a bit tipsy at the time and actually lifted the whole of the front off the phone (thinking I could clean the screen and stick the front back down) but now the phone will not respond to touch no matter what I do.
I was thinking of trying to replace the front parts myself, but as mentioned its a Compact V not a D2, so the shape of the front of the handset is slightly different and I cannot seem to find anywhere that I can order the front facia.
I've got a lock on the phone, so I cant even flash it if I wanted to sell it as 'broken'
Can anyone think of ANYTHING that could help?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
You can flash your phone if you just put the Rom on a storage card and update it from there, and new digitizers are just 4 dollars, so just put a new one in ( or I can do it for you if you pay for the costs) I've replaced my digitizer about 3 times now... and im pretty good at it XD
i really hate to say it. but i think its just time to buy a new phone. I know money may be an issue. i dont have the cash to fork out for new phones either. but if this happened to me. i would do my best to back everything up. then just buy a cheap phone untill i saved up . i have an htc pure right now saving up for an evo 4g. I just upgraded my contract so i will have to pay full price for the evo 4g around $500.00 . unless ya can limp this one along . but from what it sounds like is its about time to bury that one ...
devices messing up does suck, im sorry..
Good Luck
Thanks guys.
Is it possible to flash from the SD card when the device is locked?

Yes it is possible. When flashing from SD you don't have to use your screen in any way. Have a look in the ROM-Threads, u will find the way to flash and some great "how-to"s.

Thanks Mar'Cel. I notice we both have the same device. Do you know anywhere online where I would be able to order replacement parts?
Thanks again, Max.

I believe if you search on screen replacement threads they have stated where they were purchsed.
Also, you can use Pocket Controller Pro or My Mobiler to access your screen from your PC.
Well, I guess is not so ethical what Im going to ask...
But, last mont my phone touchscreen stopped responding, going to service, 15 days without phone, phone working fine again.
After less than a week, touchscreen stop working again, back to service, phone working again.
What happen yesterday? touchscreen isnt working again
I wont deal with an obviously faulty phone again.
So, I want to kill it completely. I dont know if there is a way to kill even fastboot, but if anyone can help me, It will be great. Looks like it's the only way to get a proper replacement from moto
Doesn't sound like a good idea, , They'll proooooobably know if you been messing with it.

So don't... Tell them what kind of hassle you've already been through and that you want a replacement. If you have insurance, break the screen. Usually they don't ask what happened but if they do tell them your a contractor and you were doing some heavy lifting and it broke in your pocket.
Thanks for your answers.
Im not in the US. Here moto can hold your phone in repair for a maximum of 3 months
They dont care if you are dealing with service for the second or third time.
I guess I´ll use the hard way. It wont be so difficult
A buddy at work is a real phone whore and like to get a new one every few month. he takes a car battery and 2 wires and touches the battery contacts on the phone to fry the board.
Just touch it for a second or you'll get burn marks. Phone will be DEAD and there is no way for them to tell you did it...

crispy Droid 3 ..
here in mexico, my mom had a motorola cliq that had problems with the board (it crashed even after wipe without modding) sent it back returned (they just reflashed it) happened again and sent it back and they just reflashed it. this time i rooted and updated firmware. but anyway it failed again. sent it back (with sbf of original ) the they just re flashed the unit..
one more time it went back and for the most time (3 weeks ) it was well
on every call to support i told them that the problem was the board in the phone.
one fourth time sent it back and finally got the board replaced ... (this time imei was different but housing was the same.
i was very happy until i noted they closed the phone housing badly wrong .. but it was working. then it failed again but this time it was a new error. keyboard lights died because of a FRIED Sensor. but it was working.
but as using it at night was impossible. i returned it and as i had sent it back so many times they changed my phone (my mom didnt want another Motorola for now) for a Nokia N97 (i'm talking 2 years ago when android wasn't as popular as it is today.
today. my mom still has that phone. always trustworthy Nokia phone.
anyway wht im saying is that keep sending it back until they change at least the board or the screen.. but well
have you tried reflashing?
Recently i bought the Sony Xperia Z4.. as you guys know it has a good perferences as i thought..
The thing is after about 2 months i thought about trying the waterproof function which sony company assumed that the device supports.. so i turned it off, washed it under fresh clean water for about 20 sec., dryed it out then i turned it on.. and guess what !! My half screen went black, the screen lights begin to go low.. so i turned it off and dryed it even more and left it away for some time then i switched it on once again and the screen lights were obviously not working anymore !! I could hardly see that it was actually on !! I turned off once again and left it for a while and now when i turn on (using the power on button and the volume button) it vibrates three times the the screen lighta goes crazy !!! On and off over and over then it goes dark and onfe again i can hardly see the screen.. but looks like there is water under the surface.. and it seems like the touch isn't workin i still dont know !!
What can i do ?? Can you guys please help ??
Im sorry for making it such a long story but i really feel bad about it..
Dude, that device of yours is still under warranty. Go and claim the warranty from your phone retailer..

Thanks for your respond man but the thing is 1st. I bought it without a warranty because we don't have a sony support here where i live.. 2nd. Even if i bought it from any phone shop with a warranty it's just means nothing here where i live xD they will just tell you it is your fault anyway.. so the warranty means nothing.. 3rd. I did a little research about it and guess what ?! The warranty is void if it was watter damaged !! That what sony company said..
I put it in the rice since y.day still didn't switch it on.. i don't know what to do, im afraid if i opened the back cover something wrong would happen and it will be even worse.. cuz im thinkin about moving the battery and drying it with the hair dryer and the vacum but im still afraid to do so..:crying:
Fact of the matter is my phone was waterdamaged 3 weeks ago on vacation. I came back to the shop which firstly refused me, but they will do this for customers who dont know stuff. What you need to do is state your case and since they know the phone is waterproof by certification they are obliged to help you. Basically you are forcing their hand at this point. Many shops will try to bull**** you but as soon as you wave around the fact that the phone is IP classed to hold in water to 1.5m then they will grant you a checkup and ultimately if you are found right in your complaints then you will get a new one.
I know cuz I did this and got my phone back 2 days ago.

Actually i did that since 2 days ago and it's still there..
Well, let's get to the fact.. the phone can get switched on now, the screen lights aint blinking but..
The screen is a bit grey, the touch buttons down the screen isn't working, there is water under the surface all around and sometimes it goes crazy and starts touching it self
So i turned it off and shoved it back into the rice..
Hope it works :crying:

So my latest of stupid fails entailed the attempt repair of my water damaged E6533 (this was because I decided to take it into a sensory deprivation tank. Which included pounds of epsom salts ouch). I actually took amazing care of this phone and it was in perfect condition and I was excited to use these forums to flash to my hearts content. ANYWAYS I tried drying the board as this happened in August and I left it powered off for approx 1 week in the sun, with more salts. At this point I was nearly sick to my stomach because of my stupid move for one of my most prized possessions. But somehow I kept going, I attempted to boot the phone again but alas no go, I had really fudged this this as salt is more conductive regardless of IP68 this is extreme salt I am such a [email protected]$$ I didn't want to admit it until now. But in hinds site it worked for the 2 hours I was in the salt water. Then for 10 minutes after. I then noticed it triggering touches all over the screen. Disregarding my own advice to everyone else I know I did the stupid thing at this point. I tried to turn it on even though it just shut itself off. It did and shut off again during bootup. I gulped as this birthday gift from a friend was turning out to be a "worst case scenario" type of ordeal. Next I kept going like a troubled child again and again I tried. Because in my mind I couldn't imagine how anything could have migrated into the phone. But it was to late ........
BECAUSE if anyone knows how these XPERIA repairs tend to pan out during display damage, you get the picture. Sorry to be so cryptic but for those of you who havn't had the misfortune or need to repair a broken display (*I assume the most broken physical feature of this phone but also any electronic device for that matter.) you may not be aware that the phone has fuse on the mainboard which during display malfunction clearly blows. Replacement of this fuse requires 1) a schematic 2) advanced soldiering knowledge and techneque 3) time 4) bravery ... so on . As it is quite small and actually requires prescission soldiering equipment (here's my fail, failure to use and therefore aquire the proper tool for the job). Yes my dumba$$ory didn't stop at epsom pools of waterdamage but a soldiering technique regardless how good shouldn't have been attempted here. Although I did manage to bridge the fuse to see that YES INDEED the screen came back when bridged and it continued booting. Something prevented me from getting my soldier bridge to actually stay attached so eventually I broke an adjasent resistor. WELL good luck fixing that !!?
But for me I have seen this before. With my Z2 last year. I loved that phone but despite the love Mei case it smashed on the pavement. Screen replacement resulted in fuse replacement. WHICH in turn resulted in a SUCCESS followed by failure short after.
Another friends Xperia Z, same thing : LCD - > FUSE -> in this case I tried AliBaba'ing the board. Which was the ONLY place I could source one '.' With the new board the GPU seemed to have damaged video memory as the screen was getting serious interferance and shaking everywhere. Putting the original board in the same position resulted in no backlight but no shaky image. DOA part ...
SO ALAS
I HAVE a graveyard of Z , Z2 , Z3+ dual and extra parts ... Each time I try Xperia I get hella burned trying my luck fixing a phone I would love to be loving right now. If only I could only figure out a way to fix the lot I would in a heart beat. But most places online seem to be more pricy than the original or unreasonable. <shrug.> :crying::silly:
Buy another phone, this one isn't worth it, believe me, stop wasting money effort and time.
Best advice I can give you

Well there are Sony shops where you can take them but it'll cost a fortune and most of the time they doesn't have the parts so, maybe you should sell them as repairing parts on the Internet and get a little juice of them
