Okay so there seems to be a good amount of people here with Sprint and Verizon as their carrier, but there is not that much support for MetroPCS, which is a growing CDMA provider. I thought this would be a good place to gather information as far as what can work with the network concerning the HTC Vogue, MetroPCS, and Android.
So far this is what I have:
Data is for sure working on Donut AOSP, but I did have some issues when trying to connect with facebook and google sync, but I was successfully able to access the internet. I will come back to this build later but am currently downloading this in the themed version and I will report back on how it goes.
Using this Hero build I can once again get data, text, and calls, but I cannot get any data apps to work, therefore rendering GPS useless, which I currently can't even check to see if it works.
So the only thing that seems to work with Android with MetroPcs is Data (browser only), Text, and Calls. Not bad if that is all you need but in this case I prefer WM. But I will continue to fiddle with it. Hopefully some more builds will be pushed out that will hopefully resolve this. And using the SD card method is the only method in which I have successfully gotten data to work. Data is a no-go for me with the NAND flashing.
To set up your data the easiest way is as follows:
-Activate voice dialer
-Say "Open APN"
-hit okay okay to open the APN
-Click on your current APN to edit the settings or activate the menu and create a new one
-Enter in these settings
Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
Port: 3128
Username: your [email protected]
Password: metropcs
The other settings dont really matter. I always just left them how they were.
Credit for the initial data settings goes to L0GiC4L 3ViL.

Yes I have that same problem with cricket setting! If I come up with a solution I will post it.

this is a stab in the dark, but did you delete your blank files off your SD card? I had trouble once, and by deleting the rootfstonand and systemfstonand files, etc and rebooting my data started working. Just something to try

No I never did try it. I will have to look into it though. Was everything that required data working (maps, apps, and weather?) or just the browser?
NAND method works on Android using MetroPCS APN. I have one running, but only WAP, marketplace doesn't work, youtube doesn't work, googlemaps doesn't work, etc etc.
I believe the reason for these not working is they have their own way of communicating with network, so they don't use the APN settings, maybe this is wrong and they (google) should fix it (their libraries) to use APN information?

If you work for Metro, can you find out how to get the google apps to work? I can browse the web, but that is about it. I am not certain if these apps are trying to go in through a restricted port, but if you could find that out I am certain that a lot of people would be more than grateful.
Did anyone get any of the apps to work via Metropcs? I have data working, but would love to sync to google for contacts, calender etc...
Thanks.

Nothing yet and patiently awaiting for a solution on this. I am pretty sure that it has to do with the APN info, but... I am not completely sure.

No market and no gapps as of yet. It could be Metro itself blocking the ports...

Did you have to unlock the phone first and if so how did you do it?
I already installed polymod 2.1 gamma and I can't find an unlock option in the menus... thanks!

I don't believe that there is any way to unlock the phone via Android. It has to be done from WM. Check out my signature on how to do this.

I have a US Cellular HTC 6900 -- running Incubus26Jc's Super Eclair Lite 2.1 [RLS5] installed on the NAND. I'm having a hard time programming my phone number into it (US Cellular does not have OTA programming so I need to manually program it). I got the APN setup and was able to run the USCC PRL update, but just can't figure out how to program my phone number. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

This should be able to do what you want:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6097236&postcount=30
I've never actually used it to program a number and you'll have to figure out the hex format but it should work. In any case write down any settings you change so you can get things back to where you started.

Thanks for this. Although, I ended up flashing back to WinMo, programmed my MDN and MSID and then flashed back to Android again using Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo RLS10 Themed.
Sorry I couldn't test out your app.
Getting it activated tomorrow. Hoping the data will work.
Just as an update -- I got it activated. Everything is working great so far. Voice, 3G data, SMS, camera, Exchange email, etc.
Thanks again.
I recently had my old phone number ported to my new network, but in the Settings -> About Phone -> Status screen the phone number is still showing as the temporary one assigned by the network while I was waiting for the port, which was different to the SIMs original, and it changed then.
Is there anyway to get this to update? I've tried restarting the phone, with and without the SIM in but it's still showing as the temporary number. The port has definitely taken place as people have phoned me on my old number and I've phoned them and it's shown as me.
Any help greatly appreciated
No-one know then?
It sounds to me like this may be something that is programmed into the simcard and doesn't change when the operator changes the number (or something like that). I doubt you will be able to fix it yourself, seems to me that this is either due to some delay in the operators system (unlikely after 4 days) or its just coded on the simcard and doesnt change. Maybe there is a program to edit that somewhere but I have no clue.
I've had almost the same problem since the beginning. There's no number on the info field.
I had a new contract and a sim card for the phone, but there was no number. I also have no idea how the number is defined in the field.
Try This and see.
Australian Sim Cards do not have any number Details Programmed so you may be able to program the Sim via your Phone.
Go to Contacts -> Menu Key -> More -> Settings -> Own Numbers.
Here you may see your old Number. Just open this and change the Info and Save.
you may have to Reboot to see any effect.
Keep us updated if this change works.

Hi, I have the same exact problem as above when I had my number ported to T-mobile. I was really searching for a way to fix it then I came across this, I tried this but I do not see that option for me, do you know of any other way to update or fix this? I find it a bit annoying haha. Plus I want to root and do not want any possible mishaps. I am on the Galaxy Note 4 by the way. Thank you.

I rooted and it was fine so I am happy there but I still do want to update the number. Recently I sent my friend a picture message and she got it form my temporary number and it annoyed the heck out of me, a few minutes later I resent one and it was fine so I guess it was a tiny mess up. I wonder if going in and buying a new sim or something would help because if it does and the sim is $10 I'd be willing to do that.
Guys,
My girlfriend has the Nexus S and I noticed on her phone in MMS she has a picture set for herself and its viewable.
On my Nexus One when I text the icon for me is always grey.
Is this only an issue for me and is there a fix for it?
An example of what I mean is attached.

You need to put your SIM in a phone that has the ability edit the 'My Number' entry. Apparently iPhones can do it. I used an oldish Sony Ericsson for mine, think it was a K550i.
Is there a reason no one has written an app to do this yet? Does Android not have the ability to manage the data stored on the sim card for some reason?
on CM go to settings>call settings>additional settings and set your number in "my phone number". then create an account in your contacts with your number and your photo. try!
Do what Andrew said. It works on stock or any rom.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
How can it work on stock when it's a Cyanogen feature? Also it doesn't edit the number on the SIM (as I understand it) so you can't flash CM, make the change and revert to stock.

That only worked because your SIM had your number correctly set up, if it doesn't (like the OPs) then the contact wont be picked up.
You can tell where the problem is from the icon, if it's a solid grey square, then it's the SIM, if it's an empty contact card, then your solution applies.
Why? a bit of background: With the arrival of Cyanogenmod 12.1 I noticed I could not send or receive MMS messages anymore. This turned out to be the case with all Lollipop 5.1x ROMS Cyanogenmod and AOSP and now on Marshmallow and Nougat. Something had changed in the way it was built that didn't work with my carriers APN. I figured out it was because my carrier uses a double APN so I thought i would try to merge them together and it worked, I now have to do this on every 5.1x ROM i flash so hopefully it will work for you too if your carrier uses a double APN . This seems to work for Telstra users but has worked for other telco users too I can't guarantee it will work for you.
UPDATE
Thanks to @erosco :good: for all his hard work, determination and troubleshooting to come up with a solution for all User's of the GT-I9305, and more than likely other Galaxy models (and possibly other devices) out there that use a separate APN for Internet and MMS. erosco has stated that he added
ro.telephony.mms_data_profile=5
to his build.prop and he was able to get MMS working. @rodman01 has stated he will add this fix for user's in the future rom releases for his roms to have it "out of the box" :good: ,also I can't thank @erosco enough for finding a proper solution, please hit his thanks button http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help-i9305/enable-mms-5-1-aosp-roms-t3183220/post69843704 for solving this for us. Also attached is a screenshot erosco took to show what the build.prop should look like.
The app used in the screen shot is BuidProp Editor by JRummy you can download it here from playstore --> BuildProp Editor .To make it easier to give support please use that app if you are experiencing issues.
Ok so Basically I have by default a APN for data and another for MMS like in the first screenshot, but the way my APN is set by default it turns 4g to ! (on Marshmallow data doesn't break but just keeps saying sending MMS) When I send a MMS . So what I did was copy the APN information in MMS APN to the MMS section which was blank in the data APN like in the screenshots. The 2 and 3 screenshot is my default MMS APN so I copied that to the MMS section of the data APN like you can see in 4 and 5 screenshot to merge it .leave it as is but just add the MMS stuff were it applies and add MMS to APN type for instance my APN type now looks like this default, supl, mms also don't forget to add MMSC address and do not delete MMS APN ( thanks to @Fritly for the info) or it won't work. If you are still unable to use MMS read and try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67711840&postcount=4063 thanks to @noc.jfcbs :good: and @Wood Man :good: If their posts help please hit their thanks button.

Yes on optus a double apn works so you don't need to do it, its for people who can't send mms because of the way there telco (mine is telstra) uses the double apn.
Edit: updated thread with a clearer explanation
Do you have to keep the old MMS apn together with the merged APN? People only receive a link when i send an MMS

Hi, I didn't delete my mms apn but you could try, just make sure you write it down just in case you need it later. Could you post a couple of screen shots of your merged apn for me to look at? Is your data connection breaking? if it's sending than its working so it may be another problem.

OK. If you get sick of KitKat and you do want to use a lollipop ROM with working MMS try 5.0 ROMs like cm 12.0 instead of 12.1, MMS works on 5.0 the problem only started occurring on 5.1. My giude only works for 50% of people for some reason.
I just used this fix. I am also with Telstra. I had already tried using a single APN which fixed the 4G dropout issue however when going to the single APN I would delete the standalone MMS APN. Don't do that. Keep both APNs or else you still won't be able to send MMS.
Thanks
