is it possible to port any other phone roms such and droid x or droid 2 running froyo of course to the nexus one that is also running froyo??? is this possible?
Sure, but why? It doesn't offer anything more than what is available.
The main reason for porting a rom is to get utilities or applications, like Sense UI on a non-sense device. That's why you see so many Desire ports for the Nexus One.

are we going to get any other roms from different phones ported to the nexus one?? have not seen anything??
Why would you assume we could even do that? All the phones run Android. And they all have different drivers for their various hardware differences.
Porting a rom would be to pull just the Android part out of it, and put it on the Nexus. Which is already what we have.
If you mean porting the different launchers/icons/widgets that is done all the time. And we have a lot of things like that.

The Desire's been ported by Paul. If you want something broken, download one of King's many ports.
well for example i was able to use the blur rom on my g1 and even the slide rom on g1 and port 2.2 on g1 and such why is that we only get the desire rom?? not droids roms or even the new galaxy ? idk is it possible? or not?
it would be great to maybe see the galaxy s rom ported over to the nexus one....anyone out there know how to do this?? or even the evo or droid x roms ported over to the nexus one?? is this possible...???

Well, maybe becoz the N1 has the latest Android version and porting stuff from earlier Android versions is not always possible... the Desire had 2.1 and now has a leaked 2.2, and is very much similar to the N1, so porting is possible... if stuff like blur was written for Android 2.1/2.2, I'm sure we'd see blur roms for the N1....
dont the droix x run one 2.1 and also the galxay rom run on 2.1 cant nexus one go back to 2.1 i still can use 2.1? on a rooted version of n1?
i just hope we all will be able to seen some roms realease coming soon
Yes, instead of developing proper Nexus AOSP ROM, porting newer graphic driver, enabling 720p and FM radio, etc - let's spend the time porting a zillion of different ROMs, with whatever features that won't work..
Or maybe not.
um look at the desire rom for nexus one...do we have one actually works all features yet or still not properly working?? and im just asking quiestion no need to be rude about it n crap....

Well, the Nexus and Desire have very similar hardware... so it was easier to port considering less driver problems... besides the DroidX is new and the Desire's been out for quite a while... maybe we'll see a DroidX firmware port in a while... maybe we won't...
Will anyone ever be able to make a Sense Rom for the NC or is it impossible? I think that UI would be perfect for it.
It'll be possible. The HTC Flyer is 1024x600. Someone will need to port it over, and it may run like crap, because the device is far more powerful than our Nook
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/15/htc-launches-into-tablet-wars-with-1-5ghz-7-inch-flyer/
Sense is not a type of rom. Sense is the ui htc uses in its custom builds for custom roms. Maybe if there was some magic dev who would put forth an effort too try an power it? But I'm not exactly sure on the rules or legality of porting a sense ui to a non htc device.
-Evo-
Well, its not like a "skin" the UI uses completely proprietary frameworks that replace regular AOSP ones. As for legal, well everyone kinda turns their heads for it, there have been plently of Sense roms for the G1, droid, HD2, N1, etc. I'm sure that the port maintainer of any of these would pull the builds down if they ever got C&D's
Why would anyone want Sence?
Wrong section...
so today news broke about the HTC Sensation getting an ICS update "soon". I bought the HTC Vivid the day it came out and I'm coming from a Samsung Captivate. when i had my captivate there was a lot of dev with porting from other phones either the I9000, I896, etc etc. i was wondering since I'm new to HTC i was wondering how hard it is to port roms from other phones i.e. the Sensation to the Vivid?
just kind of food for thought

To answer your question, yes, it can be done, but Sense can only be ported to Sense devices. Look at the Inspire, several of its Roms are actually based and ported from the Sensation XL. Certain aspects of each phone would require fixes to get them to work like they came from HTC for the phone they are getting ported to. Trust me, if there is a dev with a Vivid or Raider and they want to give us a port of another HTC phone's Android and Sense versions, they will get is done and you will see it in the Dev section. Once a dev begins work on it they will know soon enough if it will be hard or easy and what will be required for it to work.

So, I had my heart set on the One with Sense since it was announced and heard nothing but good reviews about it, but then the Google Edition was recently announced, it's basically a Super-Nexus. I currently have a Nexus 7 and a Droid X2 running CM10, so I'm familiar with Jellybean and like it very much!
So when I heard about the Nexus edition of the One, I was amazed. But then, I remembered since it's running stock Jellybean, it won't have the HTC only features like Zoe among others.
I'm open to the idea of changing the ROMs to get stock android if I bought the One with Sense on it...wait, is there a ROM that you can install to change to Sense 5 if I bought the Google edition!? That would be perfect if there was because I could try Sense if I wanted, but have Stock as my default and get all of Google's updates immediately!
I basically have to choose between:
HTC's Sense with all the Sense features and change the ROM to get to stock android. Slow to no OTA updates from Google.
Stock android with constant updates from Google as soon as they come out AND the stock experience. (Can still change the ROM)
I known this is a forum for the Sense HTC One, but what do you guys think? If you had this choice what would you do?
I just bought my HTC One a week ago, already having in mind that a Google Edition will be coming out, but as I don't live in the USA and given that it's going to be exclusive for the time being that wasn't such a big deal to me.
But I'm actually quite convinced that you are going to be able to switch from Sense to AOSP and vice versa, because they're the exact same hardware. Remember that tweak for the Optimus G that allowed you to basically turn it into a Nexus 4 from a software stand point? I'm sure there will be something similar to that and even if it's not supported officially, developers are going to find one way or another
I could even imagine something like an RUU to turn a regular One into a Google Edition. Well the 26th isn't that far away now, we'll see...
yes u will be able to switch roms

So there is ROM that will allow me to switch to Sense 5 if I buy a Google Edition HTC One?

There are several stock like roms with sense 5 in the android development section.
Read through and see which one suits you best.
Get the sense one. We already can change the phones identity so making it a Google edition shouldn't be any different

Just get either one, it doesn't matter much, to be honest. The Google Edition one has an unlocked bootloader and is probably S-OFF, and you can do both on the Sense edition as well. You can install any ROM you want on either one with no problems, whether sense-based or AOSP.
If u want a super nexus than this isn't the phone for you. Its not a nexus and never will be. I would go with the sense to get the great features. If you want stock it's better to get a nexus. (Just my opinion)

I'm running 2 different roms and am interested in installing HTC Sense 2 or 3 to my device. I am aware that Sense 8 or/and 9 are available to flash via TWRP/CWM ( currently have installed), but I really enjoy the older Sense versions more then the latest. That being stated, is there a way to install Sense 2 or Sense 3? I do have a HTC Boubleshot (Sense 3) and half a dozen of HTC Glaciers (Sense 2) with the Stock or stock rooted roms available. I do want the Stock HTC Sense experience and not a launcher from the play store as they are not the same by a long shot. Any information is strongly appreciated. Would like to make this my first XDA project. Thanks
I don't think it is possible. Sense 2 and sense 3 are really old and I too miss them sometimes. M7 shipped with sense 5 by default and it is lowest it can go. If there was a htc phone with similar hardware like m7 in 2011 or 2012 then we could port it to m7 but since there is no phone like that it can't be ported. When sense 6 arrived there was ported htc apps which worked on all devices and now with sense 8 and 9 there are even more htc apps which work on all devices no matter if it runs on sense, touchwiz or aosp based rom and can be installed without modifying any files. I remember back in sense 3 days there was no way to get almost any htc app to work on any non htc device without sense rom.
If you want to use sense 3 on m7 you have to use themed launchers or to buy older htc phone like sensation or desire hd.

As I stated, older devices I do have. Unfortunate, they can run on only edge even tho they are 4G devices. Isn't it only the sense framework that would be required to install and run? Let's bring up Team Venom And their Viper Roms

Sense framework is hard to port. It requires time and a lot bug fixing and resizing as sense 3 was never on full hd device. I don't think team venom will do it. They stopped development for m7 some time ago.
IIRC Sense 2/3 was for Android 2.1/2.2 and 2.3 (Eclair/Froyo and Gingerbread). Porting somethig from Lollipop to Gingerbread would be no small task....
