LOL I really don't know.
I'm using the HTC Desire and some apps like FxCamera and Vignette to take some of the pics though.

Very nice pictures. I've yet to take any meaningful pictures with my Htc Evo. Other than pictures of my car and the usual.
Very nice though.

This is very cool and exciting, lets see how my Magic and Hero do. lol

Yea, those pics are really nice. You obviously have an eye for this kind of thing as well as a nice phone. My best effort:

Sorry, not really sure how to post just the pic. Taken with a Droid Eris - 5 MP.

The DOF on that third shot is incredible for a phone. I was honestly surprised to see that quality of these shots, being a photographer.

I was going to ask whether you used apps like vignette but then read your following post. those are great photos even though I am a photographer myself and never find myself using my camera. but seeing those photos makes me want to play with vignette more to see whats possible

Wish I could be a photographer, just can't afford the equipment and being 17 years old I don't think I should be spending that kind of money LOL.
Yeh FxCamera gives the best ones I think and it's bloody free!
The London Eye one was taken with FxCamera and the third shot of the pinecone was taken with Vignette.

Here's a couple for ya. Took this with camera zoom FX.
nothing too special, but I was pleased with them.

Wow! Perfect! You the most artistic human I seen on XDA.
You create the greatest ever MOD widget and Notification Bar (Even thought I can't use it, it is for Desire).
And now you shooting the best ever photos I seen using Android Phone.
Those photos is perfectly nice.
You are born to be as Artistic Human, you still young, bright future is on the way. Wish you good luck as one of the successor Photographer (I always hope I am, it seems too late for me anymore) in future or any jobs related to art.

Lunar Eclipse Thing

Whos watching it tonight?
Also, fun fact:
It is the second of two lunar eclipses in 2010. The first was a partial lunar eclipse on June 26, 2010. It will be the first total lunar eclipse to occur on the day of the Northern Winter Solstice (Southern Summer Solstice) since 1638, and only the second in the Common Era.

If anyone can post real pictures would be nice as this is one of a kind event!!
Yea, I'll be there with my trusty 7D with a 70-200 and a 1.4 teleconverter on it. Just have to make sure I dont get killed :O
Anyone living in Brooklyn wanting to meet up? lol
Great please share your pics here
More info:

Two pictures I've gotten tonight so far at midnight and one am respectively. I'll add more here if I remember.
Another fun fact is that you should be able to see the ursids meteor shower tonight. It's only visible because of the eclipse.
EDIT: Added the pics taken from 2 am and 2:30 am. Resized them and tweaked them for better image quality.

I know how you feel. I'm in South Louisiana in the US. During the day these past few weeks it's been 21C (70F) or warmer. Tonight it was 10C too. Sooooo cold!
I couldn't get the light to filter properly on the fist picture from midnight. I'm actually surprised how well mine came out though. It's over now, so I'm off to bed.
Haha 10C is cold.
I was in NYC in -8C.
I'll post my shots when I get to them.
Cheers Orb. Thanks.

Yes it was one of a kind natural event I´m glad had the chance to see

Very nice pics, everyone. It was too cloudy here so I missed out. Have pics from the last eclipse but still bummed I missed this once in a lifetime event.
Weather was favourable too... About -15C. Warmed up a but in the last week or so and each night perfectly clear up until last night.

I've done HDRs before. Not my cup of tea. The problem with HDR is that most people don't know what it really is. What they do is blend the shots and make the scene look like a radioactive wasteland. It's meant to be used to get an even exposure throughout the whole shot, like when shooting a room indoors and having whats outside the window visible, and not overexposed.

T2i is perfect. I wouldn't consider the d7000 for a beginner. That camera cost me $1000 just for the body...

I have a T2i.
I'm almost ready to upgrade to a 7D though. I need more quick access to functions and adjustments...
Also are you ready to purchase something like this? Because it can become really expensive. You have to get the right lens for the type of shooting you'll be doing. If its just close range portraits and stuff, you should be fine with stock lens.
No one is ever fine with the stock lens, because the next one you buy is better...then you end up spending over $10,000 on camera gear like me. lol
I used to have a Canon 300D, a few years back I decided it wasn't up to the job, but still took great photos (just couldn't keep up with the Red Arrows at Farnborough), so I bought a Canon 40D after looking at the 450D and deciding it was too small for my hands.
It's a great camera and I've no need to upgrade yet (although if I had to I'd go for the 7D as it's of a similar size and better spec).
Vertical battery grip was £50 from ebay with a couple of batteries, picked up a telephoto lens and macro lens when I got the camera (although I'd originally justified the new camera by saying it would work with my 300D lenses, the urge to upgrade them was too much ), a studio lighting kit from Hong Kong, and I turned my old dining room into a studio.
Flickr portfolio
I bought a Canon 400D a few years back as my first Digital SLR. It has been a good beginner camera for me.
Review: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos400d/
I started with an XSi (450D) then got a 40D and now 7D, and now I need (read: want) to buy a 5D mk II
I just bought a Nikon D5100.
It's a great camera. I'm not sure how much you're looking to spend, but if you're in the $1000~ range, it's a great choice. (mine was around $1150 with the 18-55mm, and a 55-300 VR zoom lens)
I would highly recommend it. Takes fantastic pictures, and full HD 1080P video with full time autofocus. An awesome all around camera.
Okay...under $1000 for me ...

Agreed. But I didn't wanna scare him. lol I'm in the same position, but not at the 10k mark.... yet... Lenses and rigs are expensive. D:
In reality. You'll find out that the stock lens won't apply in certain situations. Like sitting in a hall all the way at the top with low light... Thank god I had a 70-200mm with an 2x adaptor for my cousins graduation. the Stock 18-55... well.. you know... lol

Google Camera use on GS5

Now that the AOSP/Google Camera has been launched on the play store, i thought it would be interesting start a thread to collect images and impressions of the Google Camera, particularly in contrast to the Touchwiz camera. The touchwiz camera and it's, i'll say, "pseudo-intelligent" mode picking has confused a lot of users early on, so this may be another option for some users. I have gone so far as to validate that all of the photo modes in the google camera work on my 900V.
here's a play store link to the google camera. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...utm_source=42matters.com&utm_medium=WidgetWeb
The focus mode w/ the google camera sucks. Having to move the camera and keep the subject centered has been a real challenge so far.
I do like swiping to the sides to bring up gallery and options. Slick.

That's just with that funky tilt-shift focus mode though right? I tried it on a beer bottle and it didn't really work...maybe on a larger subject it has potential.

I'm seeing just the opposite... images taken in moderate light show more processing artifacts than with the google camera (no flash or HDR, all other settings the same). It's not a huge difference, but it's certainly noticeable.

Edit: If there's demand, I can take more photos tomorrow afternoon when I get home
No OIS on the OP5 and camera quality is only a little better than the 3T. What a disappointment!
You don't need OIS to take great photos. Helps of course. More so in lower light. I will let you know what I think soon.

It doesn't have the Pixels amazing EIS so videos will be affected also. The 6Ps videos were horrible because it didn't have OIS.
Much prefer OIS but The lack of EIS on 4k video recording is a deal breaker for me, no stabilisation is horrible on any video recording.
Do you this this could be added later with a software update.?

OIS or EIS is mainly for video recording without it videos are horrible to watch back, there is NO excuse why EIS is available for 1080p but not 4k video recording.
Until I see the results myself, i.e. tested it in my hands, thats when I'll critique it correctly. Results speak for themselves as they say.

I will get one when I'm leaving work in about 2h
Can someone shoot a 4k video while walking for example ? I have an OP3T right now, and the lack of OIS is a real deal breaker for me ... Plus the EIS is not available for 4K videos

They look OK pics. Better than the 3T but not as good as the flagships today.
