[Q] Overclock vs ram hack - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I've tried searching the g1 forums for the answer, but couldn't find anything, so I'll post here.
I've tried superD with ram hack and superD nonRH with universal overclock.
With the oc non-ram hacked version, I was able to get 3.2 in linpack, but for the ram hacked non-oc superd I was only able to get 2.3.
So my question is, does the ramhack affect linpack speed? And which setup is better? I'd love to have both but unfortunately I don't think we can have both ramhack and overclock.
Thanks in advanced.

Anybody have opinions or advice on this?
Thanks

[Q] Linpack scores and the Wildfire

I've had my Wildfire since a few days before the UK release (a lucky call to T-Mo one morning!) and generally I quite like it.
However, I can't break 1.5 MFLOPS on Linpack, no matter what I try.
I normally run WildPuzzleROM 7.3.1, on a stock kernel. This gets me at best, 1.3. So I tried a few different flavours of Froyo; WildPuzzle, Cyanogen and Openfire. At each point, I've tried the stock kernel as cooked with the ROM, and also HCDR.Jacob's kernel. I've installed SetCPU each time, trying it on performance and standard, even with both the sliders pushed right up. I've done the tests before installing any other apps I use, and without any installs, downloads, etc, going in the background.
And despite all of this, I cannot break 1.5.
Am I expecting too much from the Wildfire? Or is there something wrong with my device on a hardware level?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chris
hmm there might be somthing wrong as i get around 4.7-5.099 on openfire
Its low because you're on stock with no overclock or jit
As before, I AM using a non-stock ROM, and have tried a few different non-stock kernels, including pre-overclocked and ones overclocked using SetCPU.
When I used Wildpuzzle ROM v.8.0.11 with non OC Kernel(did not boot), I had round about 1,9 MFLOPS. Now with Openfire v. 2.2 on 710MHz I get results between 4,5 and 4,7 MFLOPs. I'm using no system tools or something. Maybe slow sd card?! I'm using samsung 2gb which was preinstalled when I bought my wf.
I managed a 3.65 @ 768MHz yesterday on CM6.1. I was getting about 2.1 on Wildpuzzle 8.0.8 but without any OC kernel.
I just ran another test on CM6.1 with JIT turned on and got 3.48 @ 768MHz. Is there any way to boost this further?
I'm still really impressed and awestruck at how much better the phone is with these mods. It's like a got a whole new model now

That's probably it. I've only got 3-4 apps installed and just did a complete wipe of the sd-card.
And another thing, do you have your phone overclocked to 768 constantly or does it change depending on system load? Becouse I do usually have my phone set to overclock when needed, but I set the clock speed to always stay at 768 before I run the banchmark to be sure the cpu runs at maximum speed.
I am using cm [email protected] 768hmz and getting 5.16 with jit on...
And with jit off, i get 3.3 maximum @ 768hmz

I'm using OpenFire 2.3 and just gut 2.2 MFLOPS on linpack, i suppose not so good. I wonder what is JIT and how can i be sure if it is on or off.
It says it's on by default on openfire but i wanna be sure coz 2.2 score is pretty low. How can i check that?
Sorry for the dumb question coz i'm new to android.

JIT is,(without getting all technical on you), the new compiler in Froyo that makes thing go faster.
But I don't know how to check if it's enabled in openfire, I used openfire a while back but cant remember seeing anything about JIT in the settings. It might be so that it is always enabled and you can't disable it.

There are packages in the open fire thread that lets you turn jit on or off...

you need to install setcpu and get the cpu speed higher to get higher scores
I search application Linapack.apk beacause she is not find the market on wildfire .
Please a URL for download apk .
Thank you , sorry for english because i m french .
I get about 3.1 with CM 6.1 + JIT, non-overclocked, HCDR 4.1 Kernel
I got around 5.08 MFLOPS (@768 & JIT on) with danne_jo's new custom rom based on 2.1 eclair

adb:
:adb shell
:dalvikvm -h
you should see below "with JIT"
terminal
:su
dalvikvm -h
you should see below "with JIT"
If its disbaled you should see "fast"

Lag fix question ( COG & ULTIMATE ROM)

Hey all, I couldn't find what I'm looking for in a search so i'm hoping you can help me out.
What is the best and easiest, or best lag fix to use with cognition 3.00+ & ultimate roms? I'm hoping there is one where i don't have to do a lot of swapping of kernals or anything much like that.
also I'm assuming lag fixes help incredibly, how much though? in terms of a speed increase % ?
And how do you go about removing one?
Thanks for all help and links
usually you can enable the lagfix in the cwm, and it will use ext4.
you can find a short introduction here:

[Q] Kernals?

So I've read up a bit on kernals I understand they handle out the input/output between the hardware and software/apps. I hear people talking about all different kinds of kernals but I have I have no clue what to get? Right now I'm running the lastest miui.us rom from miui.us on my milestone with zepps V6 supercharger and openrecovery autoboot. Pretty sure I'm running stock kernal too since I haven't flashed any? I just don't know enough about them to make a decsion. Was wondering if someone could recomend a good one or explain more, would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You are not able to change the kernel that you have on the Milestone. For that, you need to have an unlocked bootloader, which the Droid has, but the Milestone does not. We are limited to the Eclair and Froyo kernels that are signed by Motorola and it seems like as of now that is all we're going to get.
Ah you would think with the work around allowing us to flash custom roms that'd we'd be able to do the same with kernals. Guess not.

[Q] Manipulate ROM Firmware Version???

Hey folks!
So I have been running froyo by laszlo for the longest time but decided to switch back to Donut.
I'm currently running dwang-v1.17.1 and I love how fast it is, the ability to play 3D games and all that other good stuff. I've also used a kernel to OC to 691 without any problems
Anyway, my question is.. Is it possible to somehow manipulate the system into showing that it is running Android 2.x + ??
I want to be able to run a couple more apps, more specifically WhatsApp Messenger..but it is incompatible with 1.6
If anyone has a possible solution, please let me know. Even if it's an idea..I'm kind of desperate here.
Thank you in advance for your replies. Much appreciated
You can fake it by editing the build.prop, but it will not help you. Newer apps are using different Android-APIs and apps programmed against those APIs will not be able to run on older Android versions.

Hey AndDiSa, thanks for your reply.
Is there a way around that? What I mean is, is there a way to 'fake' the details of the Android-API's?
Or is that like trying to squeeze orange juice out of a banana..lol
You need to install a custom rom which supports the new APIs, i.e. Eclair / Froyo or Gingerbread, there are no other chances.
OK, cool. Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated =)

Overclocking advice needed.

Hello, I was wondering if I could get a little advice.
Is there much point in overcolocking the N7000, or is it just going to throttle before a perceivable increase in performance?
And if its worth oververclocking what's the easiest approach for someone just learning? I have done a little reading and seems as if I would need to pick a Kernel that supports it, and then a few post saying I can use a app like Tegrak with the stock Kernel?
I currently have the PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0 Kernel and the NightOwl cm13 Android 6.0.1 20160510 build.
Thank you for your time.
